JAIL BREAK
"During the night, however, an angel of the Lord opened the gates of the jail." -Acts 5:19
What did the apostles do when they were miraculously set free from prison by the angel of the Lord? When set free, they did the work of the Lord, obeying Him by going out and taking their place to teach in the Temple, as God's angel had commanded them (Acts 5:20-21).
Many of you who read this are in prison. You may be physically behind bars or imprisoned by debt, fear, compulsive behaviors, addiction, sexual sins, unforgiveness, bitterness, ill health, and other types of imprisonment. You have prayed and prayed to be released from these prisons. Jesus is ready to open the gates of your jail (Acts 5:19). When the Lord sets you free from your prison, what then will you do? Will you return to your prison? "God forbid!" (1 Cor 6:15)
On Good Friday, Jesus was imprisoned in the tomb. Now He is risen! Once freed and risen, Jesus didn't return to His prison but rather took His place and spread God's word. In Baptism, Jesus sets you free from the imprisoning, enslaving power of sin and death (Rm 6:3-11). God sets you free from prison for evangelization, worship, and service. "It was for liberty that Christ freed us. So stand firm, and do not take on yourselves the yoke of slavery" and sin "a second time!" (Gal 5:1)
In Jesus, you are now free. Will you seek the Lord as diligently in your freedom as you sought Him in captivity? What will you do with your freedom?
Prayer: Jesus, in You, I am free indeed! (Jn 8:36) Rooted in You, may I become who I already am: a free, redeemed child of God.
Promise: "God did not send the Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world might be saved through Him." -Jn 3:17
Praise: Jesus set Sam free from an addiction to pornography. Now Sam is active in the fight to defend life.

COMMON KNOWLEDGE
"The community of believers were of one heart and one mind. None of them ever claimed anything as his own; rather, everything was held in common." -Acts 4:32
After the Holy Spirit gave birth to the Church at Pentecost, the Church began to live the communal life in a very practical way. "Those who believed shared all things in common; they would sell their property and goods, dividing everything on the basis of each one's need" (Acts 2:44-45). This communal sharing of property and goods was not just an ideal but something very real. "All who owned property or houses sold them and donated the proceeds" (Acts 4:34).
"There was a certain Levite from Cyprus named Joseph, to whom the apostles gave the name Barnabas (meaning 'son of encouragement'). He sold a farm that he owned and made a donation of the money, laying it at the apostles' feet" (Acts 4:36-37). The communal sharing of property was so widely practiced in the early Church that there was peer pressure in this area. For example, Ananias and Sapphira didn't feel comfortable saying that they gave the Church most of the proceeds from their sale of a piece of property. They lied and said they had given it all (Acts 5:3ff).
Why isn't the Church today sharing "all things in common"? Are our times different? If anything, our world today needs more than ever the witness of communal sharing. Then, with power, we will bear "witness to the resurrection of the Lord Jesus" (Acts 4:33).
Prayer: Father, in my lifestyle, I will not be conformed to this present age but be transformed by the Holy Spirit (Rm 12:2).
Promise: "The wind blows where it will. You hear the sound it makes but you do not know where it comes from, or where it goes. So it is with everyone begotten of the Spirit." -Jn 3:8
Praise: Antonio gave up a lucrative pension, retired early, sold his home and possessions, and moved out of state so that he and his wife could minister full-time with a community of believers.

SHOCKED BACK TO LIFE
"The Holy Spirit will come upon you and the power of the Most High will overshadow you." -Luke 1:35
Why would the all-holy God become a human being? (see 2 Cor 5:21) To Muslims and Jews, it seems blasphemous to suggest that the Supreme Being became a tiny human being implanted in the wall of Mary's uterus. Why would the Creator become a creature? "How can this be?" (Lk 1:34)
Jesus' Incarnation should blow our minds. This will result either in confusion or in fear of the Lord. If we accept the Spirit's gift of fear of the Lord, we will begin to have wisdom. We will realize that God is so holy He is beyond our concepts of holiness. We will wisely see that we are so fallen that only the incarnate, crucified, and risen God can save us from our sins against the all-holy One. If we begin to understand that the Incarnation is a mystery, we will be wise enough to worship, obey, and serve Jesus with abandon. We will receive the Incarnate Jesus in Holy Communion as often as possible. We will tell the world about Him. We will never be the same. We will be shocked out of selfishness and into reality.
Prayer: Father, "let it be done to me as You say" (Lk 1:38).
Promise: "Therefore the Lord Himself will give you this sign: the virgin shall be with Child, and bear a Son, and shall name Him Immanuel." -Is 7:14
Praise: Alleluia! God has become a human being! For love of us He has died on the cross and been risen from the dead!

April 7th Devine Mercy Sunday
Today, Christ, You show us Your heart with the rays of love flowing from them.
We see Your heart issue the blood and water, that feeds and puifies us all.
Let us all learn how to say Your chaplet of Mercy, and say it every day if possible at
the 3:00 p.m. hour.
Let us come to try to comprehend how great a love You have for us, that Your heart still
sends forth rays of healing love.
Let us all endeavor to set our hearts free of the tangles of life, and set our hearts on
Your heart.
Let us be able to grace and help others through the chaplet of mercy.
Let us again see in the picture of You, the depth of Your love, and the openness of Your
heart.
It burns with the fire of love for each of us, and it never stops calling us to that
union of oneness that You want to share with each of us.
Let us see in Your eyes the forgiving presence, and look of love.
Let us all come and see the love of the Lord that You have for each of us.
Amen and Amen.
Thanks to You, Lord, for loving us totally.

Sunday RISE TO THE OCCASION

"Thomas said in response, 'My Lord and my God!' " -John 20:28
Because Jesus is God, Jesus is risen (see Rm 1:4). Only God has power over death (Jn 5:21, 26).
Because Jesus is God, Jesus is Lord. Only God has the right to demand the constant worship and
total obedience due to the Lord.
Because Jesus is God and risen Lord, none of us is the lord of our own life. "While we live we
are responsible to the Lord, and when we die we die as His servants. Both in life and in death we
are the Lord's" (Rm 14:8). We "live no longer" for ourselves, "but for Him" (2 Cor 5:15). The life
we now live is not our own, "but it is a life of faith in the Son of God, Who loved [us] and gave
Himself" for us (Gal 2:20).
It is not right to believe in Jesus' resurrection without dethroning ourselves and enthroning Him
as Lord God. It is not right to believe in His resurrection without witnessing for Jesus in word
and in a radically surrendered lifestyle. It is not right to say we believe in His resurrection
and yet be locked up by fear like the apostles or by doubt like Thomas (Jn 20:19ff). It is right
to receive the Holy Spirit (Jn 20:22) and proclaim Jesus as risen Lord and God (1 Cor 12:3).
Prayer: Father, may I confess with my "lips that Jesus is Lord" and believe in my "heart that" You
"raised Him from the dead" (Rm 10:9).
Promise: "Crowds from the towns around Jerusalem would gather, too, bringing their sick and those
who were troubled by unclean spirits, all of whom were cured." -Acts 5:16
Praise: Praise Jesus, "the First and the Last and the One Who lives" (Rv 1:18). Praise Jesus
forever and ever!

Alleluia! Jesus is risen! He's alive! "O death, where is your victory? O death, where is your
sting?" (1 Cor 15:55) We as Christians have personally had the most overwhelming experience
imaginable. The One Who loves us so much, Who would do anything for us, was brutally murdered
by crucifixion. To have a loved one die is traumatic enough without it being a violent murder.
Amazingly, this Victim came out of the grave on the third day. We who love Him are
transformed from a shattered life to victory, from weeping to joy, and from mourning to
dancing (Ps 30:6, 12). Imagine a dead parent, spouse, or friend walking in the room right now.
This would be a shadow of what happens when we meet the risen Christ.
We may think we cannot meet the risen Jesus because ...........................

Father, please I ask everyone to pray for H. I love this child so much and he has gone through
so much heartache and grief in his young life. I beg You please let this problem that is
tormenting him, go away. There is no way he can ever have peace with this person. He needs You
Father, please guide him to a better path and lead him into happiness. Please allow the other
person involved, to also find happiness and to find a home where she will be happy, loved and
not have to ever deal with alcoholics again. Heal their broken hearts and help them get past
all this. In Jesus name I pray. May H. have a wonderful time tonight, forget about his problems
for awhile and to get home safe and sound.I love You Father.

Today, Christ, You show us Your heart with the rays of love flowing from them.
We see Your heart issue the blood and water, that feeds and puifies us all.
Let us all learn how to say Your chaplet of Mercy, and say it every day if possible at
the 3:00 p.m. hour.
Let us come to try to comprehend how great a love You have for us, that Your heart still
sends forth rays of healing love.
Let us all endeavor to set our hearts free of the tangles of life, and set our hearts on
Your heart.
Let us be able to grace and help others through the chaplet of mercy.
Let us again see in the picture of You, the depth of Your love, and the openness of Your
heart.
It burns with the fire of love for each of us, and it never stops calling us to that
union of oneness that You want to share with each of us.
Let us see in Your eyes the forgiving presence, and look of love.
Let us all come and see the love of the Lord that You have for each of us.
Amen and Amen.
Thanks to You, Lord, for loving us totally.

Sunday RISE TO THE OCCASION

"Thomas said in response, 'My Lord and my God!' " -John 20:28
Because Jesus is God, Jesus is risen (see Rm 1:4). Only God has power over death (Jn 5:21, 26).
Because Jesus is God, Jesus is Lord. Only God has the right to demand the constant worship and
total obedience due to the Lord.
Because Jesus is God and risen Lord, none of us is the lord of our own life. "While we live we
are responsible to the Lord, and when we die we die as His servants. Both in life and in death we
are the Lord's" (Rm 14:8). We "live no longer" for ourselves, "but for Him" (2 Cor 5:15). The life
we now live is not our own, "but it is a life of faith in the Son of God, Who loved [us] and gave
Himself" for us (Gal 2:20).
It is not right to believe in Jesus' resurrection without dethroning ourselves and enthroning Him
as Lord God. It is not right to believe in His resurrection without witnessing for Jesus in word
and in a radically surrendered lifestyle. It is not right to say we believe in His resurrection
and yet be locked up by fear like the apostles or by doubt like Thomas (Jn 20:19ff). It is right
to receive the Holy Spirit (Jn 20:22) and proclaim Jesus as risen Lord and God (1 Cor 12:3).
Prayer: Father, may I confess with my "lips that Jesus is Lord" and believe in my "heart that" You
"raised Him from the dead" (Rm 10:9).
Promise: "Crowds from the towns around Jerusalem would gather, too, bringing their sick and those
who were troubled by unclean spirits, all of whom were cured." -Acts 5:16
Praise: Praise Jesus, "the First and the Last and the One Who lives" (Rv 1:18). Praise Jesus
forever and ever!

Alleluia! Jesus is risen! He's alive! "O death, where is your victory? O death, where is your
sting?" (1 Cor 15:55) We as Christians have personally had the most overwhelming experience
imaginable. The One Who loves us so much, Who would do anything for us, was brutally murdered
by crucifixion. To have a loved one die is traumatic enough without it being a violent murder.
Amazingly, this Victim came out of the grave on the third day. We who love Him are
transformed from a shattered life to victory, from weeping to joy, and from mourning to
dancing (Ps 30:6, 12). Imagine a dead parent, spouse, or friend walking in the room right now.
This would be a shadow of what happens when we meet the risen Christ.
We may think we cannot meet the risen Jesus because ...........................

Father, please I ask everyone to pray for H. I love this child so much and he has gone through
so much heartache and grief in his young life. I beg You please let this problem that is
tormenting him, go away. There is no way he can ever have peace with this person. He needs You
Father, please guide him to a better path and lead him into happiness. Please allow the other
person involved, to also find happiness and to find a home where she will be happy, loved and
not have to ever deal with alcoholics again. Heal their broken hearts and help them get past
all this. In Jesus name I pray. May H. have a wonderful time tonight, forget about his problems

Local Numbers Double Practically Overnight!
The Bible Telephone Line (BTL) has been in operation for 19 years. Begun by Fr. Al
in 1991, it now continues with three teachers trained by him and by Presentation
Ministries. In cities where local numbers have been established, the BTL provides

RISE TO THE OCCASION

FULLY ALIVE - One Bread, One Body, 4/6/2013

FULLY ALIVE
"Go into the whole world and proclaim the good news to all creation." -Mark 16:15
Jesus' physical body has been raised from the dead. How many members of His body, the Church, need to be raised from the dead? How many parts of Christ's body are functioning to the degree to which God has called them? Is God's body, the Church, spiritually quadriplegic or comatose, with many parts of His body paralyzed? We need a resurrection, animation, and activation of many parts of Christ's body.
Peter and John had been spiritually paralyzed and deadened by their fear and sins. After Pentecost, however, the power and "self-assurance of Peter and John" was amazing (Acts 4:13ff). Even when the religious leaders threatened Peter and John in order to return them to their paralysis, "Peter and John answered, 'Judge for yourselves whether it is right in God's sight for us to obey you rather than God. Surely we cannot help speaking of what we have heard and seen" (Acts 4:19-20).
Pope Leo the Great taught: "Christian, recognize your dignity and, now that you share in God's own nature, do not return to your former base condition by sinning. Remember Who is your Head and of Whose body you are a member" (Catechism, 1691). Christians, come to life. Act vigorously and fully as members of Christ's body. "Awake, O sleeper, arise from the dead, and Christ will give you light" (Eph 5:14).
Prayer: Father, make me fully alive in and for Christ.
Promise: "Finally, as they were at table, Jesus was revealed to the Eleven. He took them to task for their disbelief and their stubbornness, since they had put no faith in those who had seen Him after He had been raised." -Mk 16:14
Praise: Alleluia! He is risen! "Death has no more power over Him" (Rm 6:9). Alleluia!

Remember Who is your Head and of Whose body you are a member" (Catechism, 1691). Christians, come to life. Act vigorously and fully as members of Christ's body. "Awake, O sleeper, arise from the dead, and Christ will give you light" (Eph 5:14).
Prayer: Father, make me fully alive in and for Christ.
Promise: "Finally, as they were at table, Jesus was revealed to the Eleven. He took them to task for their disbelief and their stubbornness, since they had put no faith in those who had seen Him after He had been raised." -Mk 16:14
Praise: Alleluia! He is risen! "Death has no more power over Him" (Rm 6:9). Alleluia!

YOUR RESURRECTIONS
"By what power or in whose name have men of your stripe done this?" -Acts 4:7
Peter denied Jesus three times when Jesus was about to be crucified. Even after seeing Christ risen at least three times (see Lk 24:34; Jn 20:19, 26), Peter rebelled against the risen Christ by returning to the fishing business (cf Mk 1:17; Jn 21:3). Then Peter made a fool of himself by jumping in the lake with his clothes on (Jn 21:7). Peter was a far cry from the man Jesus called him to be.
A few weeks later, Peter boldly witnessed for Jesus to thousands of people (Acts 2:41; 4:4). After being arrested for this witness, he even challenged "the leaders, the elders, and the scribes" (Acts 4:5) to repent of rejecting Jesus and to accept Jesus' name as the only "name in the whole world given to men by which we are to be saved" (Acts 4:12).
What happened to Peter? How did he change from the death of fear and sin into the life of freedom and faith? Peter was "filled with the Holy Spirit" (Acts 4:8). The Holy Spirit will eventually raise our bodies from the dead (Rm 8:11). That will be our last resurrection. Before that, the Spirit will raise us from the death of cowardice, rebellion, and selfishness into new, abundant, and eternal life.
By the Spirit, rise now so you will rise later. "Awake, O sleeper, arise from the dead" (Eph 5:14).
Prayer: Father, raise me from any death in my life.
Promise: "They made a cast, and took so many fish they could not haul the net in." -Jn 21:6
Praise: "Praised be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, He Who in His great mercy gave us new birth: a birth unto hope which draws its life from the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead" (1 Pt 1:3). Alleluia!
