September 9th, 23rd Sunday in ordinary time
This week, oh! Christ, Your church celebrates a new feast, the "Most Holy Name of Mary".
Jesus, we know that at the mention of Your name every knee in heaven, on earth, and
under the earth must bend to You.
So why is Mary's name most holy?
Is it because of how she loves all her children and intercedes for us always?
Is it because she is the mother of God?
Or is it simply that she is a virgin who gave birth to You, and still remained a virgin?
What ever it is, Mary is our perfect example.
Jesus, this week we also celebrate the triumph of the cross.
Thank You Jesus, for carrying all of our sins to the cross, and thank You for gracing us
to carry our crosses.
Thank You for truly showing us the way to face all the problems of life.
Amen and Amen.
Thank You Lord, for loving us totally.

Sunday THE GRANDEST OPENING

"Then will the eyes of the blind be opened, the ears of the deaf be cleared." -Isaiah 35:5
Jesus emitted a groan and said: " 'Ephphatha!' (that is, 'Be opened!')" (Mk 7:34) Through this
prayer, Jesus opened the ears and mouth of "a deaf man who had a speech impediment" (Mk 7:32).
Yet there are greater and grander openings than these.
At the end of the Old Testament, the Lord promised that when we obeyed Him by tithing, He would
open for us "the floodgates of heaven, to pour down blessing upon [us] without measure" (Mal 3:10).
Yet there are greater and grander openings.
The grandest opening is to open "the door of faith" (Acts 14:27), that is, to open our hardened
hearts (see 2 Cor 6:13). In this way, the "door to heaven" is opened for us (Rv 4:1).
We speak of an open mind, open enrollment, open arteries, the open man, open bowling, open bar,
etc. The word "open" is at the entrances of hundreds of thousands of businesses. Yet all these
openings mean nothing unless we have hearts open to the Lord. If you open your heart when Jesus
says "Ephphatha!", He will open the gates of heaven when you say: "Ephphatha!"
Prayer: Father, I will open my heart and You will fill it.
Promise: "Did not God choose those who are poor in the eyes of the world to be rich in faith and
heirs of the kingdom He promised to those who love Him?" -Jas 2:5
Praise: Praise the risen Jesus, Who holds "the keys of death and the nether world!" (Rv 1:18).

When we renew our loyalties to Holy Mother Church, The Cornerstone of the Church(Jesus) and St.
Peter; we are better able to fight the sin within and without. Stay close to the light and warmth

Bible Telephone Line
The Bible Telephone Line (BTL) has been in operation for 26 years. Begun by Fr. Al in 1991, it now
continues with one deacon of the Archdiocese of Indianapolis and two lay teachers trained by
Presentation Ministries. The BTL provides callers with a short teaching on the readings for the
daily Mass. It is available 24 hours a day and 7 days a week. Callers may also leave a short prayer
request which will be shared on the line with the other callers the next day on a separate line.
