FILLED WITH THE SPIRIT?
"The Spirit we have received is not the world's spirit but God's Spirit." —1 Corinthians 2:12

The Spirit:
• “scrutinizes all matters” (1 Cor 2:10),
• alone “knows what lies at the depths of God” (1 Cor 2:11),
• helps “us to recognize the gifts He has given us” (1 Cor 2:12),
• teaches us the words with which to speak of spiritual things (1 Cor 2:13), and
• makes it possible for us to “have the mind of Christ” (1 Cor 2:16).
We are trapped in ignorance, confusion, and a superficial relationship with the Lord unless we are docile to the Holy Spirit and let Him do as He wills in our lives. Most of us reading this are baptized and confirmed in the Holy Spirit. Therefore, the Holy Spirit lives within us (see 1 Cor 6:19). Nonetheless, we can quench (1 Thes 5:19) and grieve (Eph 4:30) the Holy Spirit by our sins. We must repent and let the Spirit be as active as possible in our lives. Only then can we live the abundant fullness of life in Christ.
However, to accept the graces of docility to the Holy Spirit and of repentance to resisting the Spirit is a formidable challenge to our selfishness. The Lord teaches through His Church: “The more we renounce ourselves, the more we ‘walk by the Spirit’ ” (Catechism of the Catholic Church, 736). The evil spirit repeatedly and sometimes subtly manipulates us through our selfishness into impeding the work of the Spirit.

Prayer: Father, I ask You to do in me whatever is necessary for me to live fully in the Holy Spirit.

Promise: "What is there about His speech? He commands the unclean spirits with authority and power, and they leave." —Lk 4:36

Praise: Jesus healed Juan of the damage done by a heart attack. Since then, Juan has both worshipped Jesus in daily Mass and has gone to Confession monthly.

August 30th 22nd Sunday in ordinary time.

Jesus, seasons change, and we see life changing, but one thing never changes and that is Your steadfast
love for us.

Lord, help us to recognize that, and feel that love.

Lord, help that love give us the graces that we need to live in true christian faith, faithful to You
and Your ordained leaders.

Lord, help us to trust the wisdom that You give the Pope and his bishops, and let us grow in the
knowledge that Your Holy Spirit guides Your church in the continued truth.

Lord, let us trust our priests and deacons as emissarys of You.

Lord, help us all to pray for the ordained as they also struggle with the problems of life as we do.

Amen and Amen.

Thank You Lord, for loving us totally.

One Bread, One Body

This weeks readings and reflections

Sunday BODY LANGUAGE
https://www.presentationministries.com/series/obob/obob-2020-8-30-en

"I beg you through the mercy of God to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice holy and acceptable to God,
your spiritual worship." -Romans 12:1

As part of a total commitment of our lives to the Lord, we offer our bodies to Him as living sacrifices.
This means the Lord (and no one else) determines what we eat and drink, our bodily habits, under what
conditions we use our sexual organs, how we think, how we dress, how we use our eyes, how we use our
tongues, where we go, and several other aspects of life involving our bodies.

The Lord may decide to use your body to create several children in the covenant of marriage. Some of
these children may be miscarried. This is an even more demanding use of your body by the Lord. The Lord
may decide to give you the gift of celibacy. Your body's sexuality will then be used exclusively for
spiritual, not biological, fruitfulness. If you give your body to the Lord, He may make you a caregiver,
exhausting your body by giving constant care to someone who can do very little to assist you. In giving
your body to the Lord, you may be healed, strengthened, and freed from stress. You may feel ten to twenty
years younger. The Lord will undoubtedly use your body to suffer in the pattern of His death
(see Phil 3:10). Ultimately, the Lord wants to raise your body from the dead and renew it according to
the pattern of His glorified body (Phil 3:21).

It is an adventure and a privilege to give our bodies to the Lord. No one knows what He will do with our
bodies. So let us trust Jesus with our bodies and find out the wonders He has planned.

Prayer: Father, thank You for the gift of my body. Do with it as You wish.

Promise: "Whoever would save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for My sake will find it."
-Mt 16:25

Praise: "If He gives His life as an offering for sin...the will of the Lord shall be accomplished through
Him" (Is 53:10).

SEXUAL PURITY - One Bread, One Body, 08/29/2020

SEXUAL PURITY
"It is not right for you to live with your brother's wife." —Mark 6:18

St. John the Baptizer called a sin a sin, a lie a lie, and adultery adultery. In a permissive, promiscuous society, where prime time TV is prime porn, it is not fashionable to speak of purity and sexual sin. Nowadays, if people are not aborting their children or spreading sexually transmitted diseases in “one-night stands,” we almost consider them “virtuous,” compared to others. Even the strictest have usually compromised their moral standards. If Grandma saw what is going on now, even in Christian circles, she wouldn’t believe it.
Let’s make a stand for sexual purity. “Stand up and tell them all I command you” (Jer 1:17). As with John the Baptist, the secular culture will arrest and even attempt to kill us, but it will not conquer us. “ ‘They will fight against you, but not prevail over you, for I am with you to deliver you,’ says the Lord” (Jer 1:19). The Lord says: “It is I this day Who have made you a fortified city, a pillar of iron, a wall of brass, against the whole land” (Jer 1:18).
There will be a day when no Christians watch filth and turn their bodies, God’s temples, into garbage cans. There will be a day when all brides and grooms refuse to have sex before their wedding night. There will be a day when women can live without fear of rape. There will be a day when sexually transmitted diseases will be eradicated because of purity. Join the purity revolution today.

Prayer: Jesus, may I be pure as You are pure (1 Jn 3:3).

Promise: "The eyes of the Lord are upon those who fear Him." —Ps 33:18

Praise: "I assure you, there is no man born of woman greater than John. Yet the least born into the kingdom of God is greater than he" (Lk 7:28). St. John, how can we rank above you? Pray for us!

THE LIGHT FROM THE CROSS
"The message of the cross is complete absurdity to those who are headed for ruin, but to us who are experiencing salvation it is the power of God." —1 Corinthians 1:18

The five foolish bridesmaids in today’s Gospel reading thought they were ready for the bridegroom’s coming, but were wrong (Mt 25:12). We too may be deceiving ourselves about our readiness for Christ’s final coming, our readiness for death, and the depth of our relationship with the Lord.
Our reaction to the message of the cross can be a window into our souls. For example, when we are faced with the cross of forgiving and loving our enemies, do we embrace forgiveness as the only way to reconciliation and a privileged opportunity to imitate the crucified Christ? Or do we see the cross of forgiveness as impractical and not applicable to our particular situation? Also, do we eagerly ask the Lord for His permission to take up the cross of more penance and fasting? Or do we do what comes naturally, that is, maximize our pleasure and minimize our crosses? What are our reactions to the crosses of repentance, evangelization, apologizing, and persecution? If we glory in the cross, it is a good sign that we are living our Baptisms and on the way to heavenly glory (see Lk 9:23). However, if we avoid the cross, are we living according to the mind and heart of Christ?
As we fix our eyes on the cross of Christ, He will reveal to us not only His love but the state of our souls. Glory in the cross of Jesus (see Gal 6:14).

Prayer: Father, may the light from the cross penetrate my heart.

Promise: "The moral is: keep your eyes open, for you know not the day or the hour." —Mt 25:13

Praise: St. Augustine was undoubtedly one of the world's greatest intellects. As a theologian and philosopher he is outstanding among the Fathers of the Church — a pillar among giants.

WIDE RECEIVER - One Bread, One Body, 08/27/2020

WIDE RECEIVER
"Who is the faithful, farsighted servant whom the Master has put in charge of His household to dispense food at need? Happy that servant whom his Master discovers at work on His return!" —Matthew 24:45-46

By desiring to receive Jesus each day, each hour, each moment into our hearts, we are in position to be ever ready to receive Him when He comes again. It becomes our habit, our nature, to receive Him. If we truly receive Him, we will truly share Him and serve Him, for He lives in us. We will be impelled by this love (2 Cor 5:14-15) and filled with His presence. Out of this fullness, we will be prompted to serve Him by reaching out to others, distributing God’s Word and goods each day, in season and out of season (2 Tm 4:2).
It can be easy to be skeptical of this kind of readiness and fullness. We get tired, distracted, discouraged, and hurt in the journey of discipleship. Then it is time to examine what is impelling us. Are we tired for Jesus? Or are we tired of Jesus? Are we waiting for His coming? Or are we simply waiting for a break from our ministry? The answers to these examinations tell us much about our motivation to serve the Lord.
Daily Mass, daily prayer, and daily Bible reading are excellent ways to receive Jesus daily and prepare for His coming. I can testify to this. For the last 30 years, I’ve been blessed to be able to go to daily Mass, pray daily, and read the Bible daily. One good day receiving Jesus leads to the next good day, month, and year. We soon think more of receiving Jesus and serving Him than we think of anything else.

Prayer: Come, Lord Jesus. Come every day into my life. Make all things new in my heart and mind (Rv 21:5). Maranatha!

Promise: "[Jesus] will strengthen you to the end." —1 Cor 1:8

Praise: "The fervent prayer of a righteous person is very powerful" (Jas 5:16 RNAB). St. Monica proved her righteousness by praying her wayward son, Augustine, into the Church.

THE HUMANLY INESCAPABLE TRAP
"Now it is your turn: fill up the vessel measured out by your forefathers." —Matthew 23:32

Jesus faulted the religious leaders of His time for being so concerned about their outside but not their inside. Jesus said: “You present to view a holy exterior while hypocrisy and evil fill you within” (Mt 23:28). This is a perennial, deep-seated problem. For example, many more people go to the beauty parlor than to Confession.  Many plan for decades for the few years of their retirement but give much less consideration to the state of their soul and to eternity following retirement. Human beings are naturally trapped in the visible and the superficial.
Jesus also warned the Jewish religious leaders that they were severely self-deceived. They honestly, but mistakenly, thought they would not have murdered the prophets of the past (Mt 23:30ff). We too think we would never have condoned slavery, joined in unjust wars, accepted institutional racism, or silently acquiesced to concentration camps, if we had lived at those times. But the Lord may be saying to us today that we likewise are self-deceived. Self-deception is a trap which can lead to our damnation.
The scribes and the Pharisees are not alone in their sinful loss of contact with reality. All humanity is trapped. Who can save us? Jesus has already saved us (see Ti 3:5). Give your life totally to Him and accept His salvation. Thank and worship Jesus forever. Tell others about the only Savior (see Acts 4:12).

Prayer: Jesus, You are our only Hope and the only Hope we need.

Promise: "May He Who is the Lord of peace give you continued peace in every possible way. The Lord be with you all." —2 Thes 3:16

Praise: Robert turned down promotions to maintain a good family and prayer life.

SEDUCTION
"Let no one seduce you, no matter how." —2 Thessalonians 2:3

Many kinds of lies deceive people into believing the wrong thing or not believing the right thing. Some believe “an oracular utterance, or rumor, or a letter” (2 Thes 2:2) without testing the Spirit (1 Jn 4:1). Some don’t hold fast to the traditions we’ve received in the Bible (2 Thes 2:15). Others don’t hold fast to the traditions we’ve received by word or letter through the Church (2 Thes 2:15). If we don’t go by the Bible, we’ll be deceived, for “ignorance of the Scriptures is ignorance of Christ” (Catechism of the Catholic Church, 133, St. Jerome). If we only go by the Bible, we can still be deceived. We need the Church, “the pillar and bulwark of truth” (1 Tm 3:15).
To avoid being seduced “no matter how” (2 Thes 2:3), we need to know Jesus personally and give Him our lives. We need the Holy Spirit, the Spirit of truth, Who guides us to all truth (Jn 16:13) and protects us from deception (1 Jn 2:26-27). We also need to know and live the Bible. God’s Word is truth (Jn 17:17). Finally, we need the Church. Many Spirit-filled, Bible-believing Christians disagree on important truths. We need the Church to protect us from our human weakness. We need Jesus the Truth (Jn 14:6), the Spirit of truth (Jn 16:13), the Word of truth (Jn 17:17), and the pillar and bulwark of truth (1 Tm 3:15), the Church.

Prayer: Father, may I accept everything You provide to prevent me from being seduced and deceived.

Promise: "First cleanse the inside of the cup so that its outside may be clean." —Mt 23:26

Praise: St. Joseph taught, "If in serving God you seek your own convenience, you are not serving God but yourself!" His work in educating children and his lively faith drew numerous others to assist him in his ministry.

BACK TO THE APOSTLES
"The wall of the city had twelve courses of stones as its foundation, on which were written the names of the twelve apostles of the Lamb." —Revelation 21:14

The holy city, the Church in glory, is founded on the apostles (see also Eph 2:20). This gives us an objective criterion for recognizing the Church founded by Jesus. The Church founded by Jesus can historically trace herself back to the apostles through the ordination of its bishops.
By recognizing Jesus’ Church, we know who to believe on such critical matters of faith and morals as:
• Do we receive the Body and Blood of Jesus in Holy Communion?
• Is Baptism necessary?
• Is marriage a sacrament?
• Is the Sacrament of Reconciliation from the Holy Spirit?
• Do I have to be holy to go to heaven?
These important matters and others are disputed by some Christian leaders. The Church is the only answer to human limitations, disagreements, and confusion. We must recognize the Church Jesus founded. This makes the apostles and their successors especially important. Love the Church and her apostles.

Prayer: Father, may I love the Church and lay down my life for her (Eph 5:25).

Promise: "You are the Son of God; you are the King of Israel." —Jn 1:49

Praise: St. Bartholomew, one of the twelve foundation stones of the Church (see Eph 2:20; Rv 21:14), powerfully intercedes for us. He brought the Good News to India and Armenia.

PM eNewsletter 21st Sunday in ordinary time

August 23rd Twenty first Sunday in ordinary time

Jesus, life moves with a speed that differs for all people.

Sometimes we have a lot of time on our hands, and sometimes we can't believe how fast time is
going by.

But in all this, we forget to pray as we should.

Lord, help us to see the importance of prayer, especially before Your Body and Blood--the Eucharist.

Lord, help us to faithfully set a time each week to come and adore You and feel the peace that only
You can give.

Help us to intercede for the church and all of it's leaders.

Help us to sit in awe of Your love.

Amen and Amen.

Thank You Lord, for loving us totally.

One Bread, One Body

This weeks readings and reflections

Sunday ACCEPTING JESUS ON HIS TERMS
https://www.presentationministries.com/series/obob/obob-2020-8-23-en

"For from Him and through Him and for Him all things are. To Him be glory forever. Amen." -Romans 11:36

The most important question in life is: "Who do you say" Jesus is? (Mt 16:15) If we confess with our
lips that Jesus is the Messiah, Lord, and Son of God (Mt 16:16; Rm 10:9) and if we live for Jesus and
not for ourselves (2 Cor 5:15), we will be saved from death, self-deception, slavery, damnation, and
hell, and we will be saved for freedom, purity, holiness, love, peace, joy, and eternal life.

Moreover, when we accept the grace to have faith in Jesus and to live for Him, Jesus reveals His Church
to us (Mt 16:18). He likewise calls us to love the Church, even by laying down our lives for her
(Eph 5:25).

Have you accepted Jesus on His terms? Have you been crucified with Christ? (Gal 2:19) Is the life that
you're living no longer your own? (Gal 2:20) Have you lost your life for Jesus? (Lk 9:24) Do you merely
go to church, or are you "churched" by Jesus' standards?

"How deep are the riches and the wisdom and the knowledge of God! How inscrutable His judgments, how
unsearchable His ways!" (Rm 11:33) Enter into the mystery of Trinitarian, eternal love. Give your life
totally to Jesus and His Church now.

Prayer: Father, reveal Jesus to me in ever deeper ways (see Mt 16:17).

Promise: "When he opens, no one shall shut, when he shuts, no one shall open." -Is 22:22

Praise: "There is nothing to fear. I am the First and the Last and the One Who lives. Once I was dead
but now I live-forever and ever" (Rv 1:17-18). Praise You, risen Jesus!

HONOR ROLE
"They are fond of places of honor." —Matthew 23:6

Our American society is “fond of places of honor.” We have honor rolls, radio and TV interviews, Halls of Fame, autograph sessions, awards banquets, and numerous other ways to honor others. While the Lord does call us to honor our parents (Dt 5:16; Sir 3:2ff) and all people (1 Pt 2:17), He is adamant that we do not seek honor for ourselves.
“Let another praise you — not your own mouth; someone else — not your own lips” (Prv 27:2). Yet though we don’t praise ourselves directly, we are not to even desire others to praise us. That presents a great spiritual danger to us. “As the crucible tests silver and the furnace gold, so a man is tested by the praise he receives” (Prv 27:21). Receiving praise can be dangerous to our eternal soul in that it can lead to pride, the chief sin among capital sins. Yet we are to live praiseworthy lives in a public, visible setting (Mt 5:16). How do we conduct ourselves in this risky situation?
We are to constantly seek to humble ourselves (Mt 23:12). Then Jesus exalts us, so we must then humble ourselves even more, which leads to more exaltation. Thus, like John the Baptizer, we constantly seek to decrease so that Jesus may increase (Jn 3:30). If God then chooses to honor us with a crown of glory, we graciously receive it and instantly pass that crown of honor on to our God (see Rv 4:10). Therefore, our only fondness for places of honor would be because Jesus gets more glory (see 2 Cor 9:13).

Prayer: Father, "not to us but to Your name give glory" (Ps 115:1). "Hallowed be Your name" (Mt 6:9).

Promise: "Kindness and truth shall meet; justice and peace shall kiss." —Ps 85:11

Praise: Mary is Queen because of her divine maternity. She is also our spiritual mother and contends with Satan on our behalf (see Rv 12:17). Queen Mary, pray for us!

HOPE EVEN NOW - One Bread, One Body, 08/21/2020

HOPE EVEN NOW
"They have been saying, 'Our bones are dried up, our hope is lost.' " —Ezekiel 37:11

In the last generation, much of the world has engaged in an unprecedented bloodbath through chemical and surgical abortions, starvation, “ethnic cleansing,” and many other atrocities, displaying a blatant disregard for human life. Some have commented that, if God does not destroy us, He will have to apologize to Sodom and Gomorrah. Is there hope for our culture?
There is hope because:
• Jesus has already definitively conquered the evil one. He now waits for His enemies to be placed beneath His feet (Heb 10:12-13).
• The Holy Spirit could prophesy new life into our culture, even if it were destroyed (Ez 37:4ff).
• God’s “mercy triumphs over judgment” (Jas 2:13).
• Some of those victimized by the culture of death have accepted the miracle of forgiving and loving their enemies. There is great hope in the miracle of forgiveness.
• Some of the countless suffering people in our society have united their sufferings with the Passion and death of Jesus. Redemptive suffering can be a prelude to risen life.
We have hope, for Christ is within us (Col 1:27), and “this hope will not leave us disappointed, because the love of God has been poured out in our hearts through the Holy Spirit Who has been given to us” (Rm 5:5). Face reality and dreadful circumstances, then “rejoice in hope, be patient under trial, persevere in prayer” (Rm 12:12).

Prayer: Father, make me realistic and extremely joyful.

Promise: "He satisfied the longing soul and filled the hungry soul with good things." —Ps 107:9

Praise: "To restore all things to Christ, in order that Christ may be all in all." Pope St. Pius X launched his pontificate with this motto. By all accounts, he accomplished his mission, as he renewed appreciation of the liturgy and the Eucharist.

ALL DONE - One Bread, One Body, 08/20/2020

ALL DONE
" 'My friend,' he said, 'how is it you came in here not properly dressed?' The man had nothing to say." —Matthew 22:12

Jesus will sprinkle clean water on us to give us new life in Him and cleanse us from all our impurities (Ez 36:25). He will give us a new heart and a new spirit (Ez 36:26) and will even put His Spirit within us (Ez 36:27). Furthermore, He will give us robes of righteousness (see 2 Cor 5:3) and make us holy as He is holy (1 Pt 1:16).
If we don’t have victory on earth and eternal life in heaven, it will not be Jesus’ fault. Out of love for us, He became man, died on the cross, rose from the dead, and poured out the Spirit. He remains with us in the Eucharist, and even dwells within us in unheard-of intimacy (Jn 6:56; 17:23). What more could He do?
We only need to let it be done to us according to God’s will (Lk 1:38). Jesus has done all the work. Our part is to believe in Him and thereby accept His saving grace. We have no excuse not to come to the heavenly banquet, no excuse for going to hell. Accept Jesus’ finished work. Accept Jesus as Savior, Lord, and God.

Prayer: Jesus, I choose to live for You and not for myself, to do Your will and not mine.

Promise: "You shall be My people, and I will be your God." —Ez 36:28

Praise: St. Bernard is a titan of the Church. During his 37 years as abbot of the Clairvaux monastery, he spearheaded the foundation of 136 other monasteries throughout Europe!

THE SHEPHERD WHO IS GOD AND BECOMES A LAMB
"For thus says the Lord God: I Myself will look after and tend My sheep." —Ezekiel 34:11

God’s sheep were in bad condition. They were malnourished (see Ez 34:3), weak, sick, injured, strayed, lost (Ez 34:4), scattered, and vulnerable to “all the wild beasts” (Ez 34:5). In many places today, God’s sheep are also in critical condition. Our society, parts of the Church, many families, and countless Christians are in critical condition. However, there is hope in Jesus, the Good Shepherd.
Jesus has already provided for the shepherding of all His sheep by laying down His life as the sacrificial Lamb of God (see Jn 1:29; 10:11). The Shepherd paradoxically and mysteriously became a Sheep, even a Lamb, in order to save His sheep. Moreover, Jesus did not destroy those oppressing His sheep, but He let Himself be destroyed even to death on the cross (see Phil 2:8). Then the Lamb Who was slain (Rv 5:6) rose from the dead and is now seated as God at the right hand of the Father. In heaven, all cry out: “Worthy is the Lamb that was slain to receive power and riches, wisdom and strength, honor and glory and praise!” (Rv 5:12) If we are willing to follow the Shepherd-Lamb, even in His sufferings, we will go to heaven and share forever in the wedding feast of the Lamb (Rv 19:9).
Jesus said: “My sheep hear My voice. I know them, and they follow Me” (Jn 10:27). Follow Him.

Prayer: Father, when I pray to the Lamb of God at Mass before receiving Holy Communion, may I mean what You want me to mean.

Promise: "Thus the last shall be first and the first shall be last." —Mt 20:16

Praise: St. John was a great promoter of the devotion to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary. Tirelessly preaching at parish missions, he also founded two religious orders.

"THE END" (Rv 22:13)
"I will make an end of them." —Deuteronomy 32:26

God’s Word states: “In whatever you do, remember your last days, and you will never sin” (Sir 7:36). The prince of Tyre apparently did not consider his last days, for he was puffed up with pride. So Ezekiel prophesied that the prince’s last days would be filled with reminders that he is not a god, but a mere man (Ez 28:7ff).
The psalm response today likewise reminds the proud that their final days might be “close at hand,” and possibly even “rushing upon them” (Dt 32:35). In today’s Gospel passage, St. Peter also had thoughts about how things would end up for him after he had given up everything to follow Jesus (Mt 19:27).
Jesus Himself encourages us that the one who perseveres to the end will be saved (see Lk 21:19). Rather than focusing on ourselves, God’s Word counsels us to “keep our eyes fixed on Jesus” (Heb 12:2; see also Heb 3:1). Jesus is the End (Rv 1:8; 22:13). St. Paul testifies: “I do not think of myself as having reached the finish line. I give no thought to what lies behind but push on to what is ahead. My entire attention is on the finish line...life on high in Christ Jesus” (Phil 3:13-14).
Therefore, focus only on the ending that really matters — doing whatever Jesus tells us today and forever (Jn 2:5).

Prayer: Father, I will praise You in all circumstances and leave my life in Your loving hands.

Promise: "Everyone who has given up home, brothers or sisters, father or mother, wife or children or property for My sake will receive many times as much and inherit everlasting life." —Mt 19:29

Praise: The desire to attend Mass was so strong in young Thomas that he arose early to attend 7AM Mass before going to his high school classes.

SHOCK THERAPY
"Will you not tell us what all these things that you are doing mean for us?" —Ezekiel 24:19

The actions of Ezekiel and Jesus in today’s Mass readings are shocking. They are prophetic statements meant to capture a person’s attention.
In our secular culture, we are used to outlandish behavior and shocking statements. Grocery stores sell tabloid newspapers, and the typical headline uses the word “shocking.” News programs are on the watch for sound bites that grab our attention. After a while, we grow desensitized to these approaches, and we become shock-proof.
Likewise, the rich young man and the people of Ezekiel’s time were shocked but did not change their lives. Are we shock-proof like the people of Ezekiel’s time? Can nothing get through to us? Jesus did get through to the rich young man, who was indeed shaken up. Sadly, the young man could not accept Jesus’ prophetic message and so walked away from Jesus. He found Jesus too much (see Mk 6:3).
Well, Jesus is indeed too much. That’s why we must be immersed, baptized, into Him. We and our attachments must be drowned in the waters of Baptism. Let Jesus shock you into His loving arms (see Jn 6:61).

Prayer: Lord, prepare me each day to love You much more deeply and love the world much less. Take all of me, Lord.

Promise: "If you wish to enter into life, keep the commandments." —Mt 19:17

Praise: Matt returned to the Faith this past Lent.

PM eNewsletter 20th Sunday in ordinary time

August 16th 20th Sunday in ordinary time.

This week, Jesus, Your church celebrates the queenship of Mary, as she so rightly deserves.

She was a faithful servant, and a tremendous example of trust while on earth, and so she should be
honored as Queen of heaven and earth.

Let her intercession continue to cause grace to flow to all of us.

Let Your love for mom flow also into us, and let us praise, and glorify You as our Lord, God and King.

Let us see that Your plan of love is constantly working out in everything, and give us the graces
necessary for us to really trust You every day in every way.

Amen and Amen.

Thank You Lord, for loving us totally.

One Bread, One Body

This weeks readings and reflections

Sunday SAVE THE CHILDREN
https://www.presentationministries.com/series/obob/obob-2020-8-16-en

"Lord, Son of David, have pity on me! My daughter is terribly troubled by a demon." -Matthew 15:22

Jesus delivered many people from demons. Sometimes He delivered children from demons
(Mt 15:22; Mk 9:17ff). This raises the question: How can innocent children who could not have
grievously sinned or been knowingly involved in the occult be possessed or troubled by demons?

Children suffer innocently for the sins of their parents and the world. This suffering seems to
include even harassment from the evil one. Sins committed by any of us can result in the severest
form of child abuse: exposing a child to demonic influence. A simple reading of any of the
historical books of the Old Testament will demonstrate how sins of others can harm innocent children.

Why doesn't the Lord protect children from the effect of our sins? Why didn't He intervene and save
the Holy Innocents martyred at Bethlehem? Why doesn't He spare the children victimized by abortion?
The Lord allows us to accept the wages of our sins (Rm 6:23). He even lets us pass on a devastating
inheritance to our children and to the children of the world (Ex 20:5). Our unrepented sins open the
door for Satan to enter not only our lives, but also the lives of innocent children. Repent!

Prayer: In the name of Jesus, leave, Satan, never to return. Thank You, Jesus, for Your victory.

Promise: "Observe what is right, do what is just; for My salvation is about to come, My justice,
about to be revealed." -Is 56:1

Praise: "If Christ was not raised, your faith is worthless" (1 Cor 15:17). Father God, thank You
for Your perfect plan of redemption.
