OIL CHANGE

"You have the anointing." -1 John 2:20

The word "Christ" means "Anointed One," the Greek translation of the Hebrew word "Messiah." Therefore, by calling ourselves "Christians," we call ourselves "anointed ones." Moreover, the word "Christmas" means "the Mass of the Anointed One." The word "antichrist" means "against the Anointed One." Thus, the idea of anointing is very dominant in Christianity or, we could say, in "the way of the Anointed."

The heart of following Christ, "the Anointed One," is to "have the anointing that comes from the Holy One" (1 Jn 2:20). "The anointing" we "received from Him" must remain in our hearts (1 Jn 2:27). It teaches us "about all things and is true - free from any lie" (1 Jn 2:27). This anointing teaches us to remain in the Lord (1 Jn 2:27).

"God is the One Who firmly establishes us along with you in Christ; it is He Who anointed us and has sealed us, thereby depositing the first Payment, the Spirit, in our hearts" (2 Cor 1:21-22). We are anointed by the Father, in Christ, and with the Spirit. Like Christ and in Him, we Christians are anointed by the Father "with the Holy Spirit and power" (Acts 10:38). As anointed followers of the Anointed One, we are sent to bring good news "to the poor, to proclaim liberty to captives, recovery of sight to the blind and release to prisoners, to announce a year of favor from the Lord" (Lk 4:18-19).

On this last day of the year, let us repent of stifling the Holy Spirit (1 Thes 5:19). We must let God's precious ointment be poured on our heads and run down over our whole body (see Ps 133:2). Come, Holy Spirit of Christmas.

Prayer: Father, may the oil of my baptism and confirmation flow freely and abundantly.

Promise: "The Word became flesh and made His dwelling among us, and we have seen His glory." -Jn 1:14

Praise: Pope St. Sylvester I baptized the emperor Constantine.

PM eNewsltter Feast of the Holy Family

December 30th Feast of the Holy family

Jesus, as we end this year, let us see the power of love that exists in the human family that should
be like Your Holy Family.

We all have our faults and failings, but they can be given to You, so that we can be free to love
those who gave us life and took care of us as children.

Let us see that our parents did the best they could where they were at.

And let us pray for them to come and find the love that You have for all families.

Jesus, help all children, especially those who had difficult childhoods, and give them the grace to
forgive.

Let this next year be a year of peace and love and forgivness.

Amen and Amen.

Thank You Lord, for loving us totally.

One Bread, One Body

This weeks readings and reflections

Sunday LIFE IS A ...
https://presentationministries.com/obob/obob.asp?lang=en&d=12/30/2018

"On the third day they came upon Him in the temple." -Luke 2:46

Shakespeare said the world is a stage and we are all players in the theater of life. Others say life
is a party or game. Job said life was a drudgery (Jb 7:1). The Lord reveals to us that life is a
Passover (see Lk 2:41) - a communal celebration of our God-given freedom from slavery. Life is not
just a nostalgic look at Passovers past, but a living of Passover present. Life is losing Christ for
three days (see Lk 2:46), being crucified and buried with Him (Rm 6:3-4), and searching for the Lord
in sorrow (Lk 2:48; Jn 20:15). Life is also finding Christ and rising with Him "on the third day"
(Lk 2:46; Jn 20:16).

All of this is "the Father's business" (Lk 2:49, our translation). This is everyday life and family
life. This is the way of holiness in life and in family. We become holy by becoming like God
(see 1 Pt 1:15-16). We become like God by being baptized into Jesus' death and Resurrection (Rm 6:3ff)
and living our Baptisms through daily crosses and repeated experiences of the Resurrection. As our
lives become Passovers, we and our families become holy. Like Jesus, we progress "steadily in wisdom
and age and grace before God and men" (Lk 2:52). Holy Family, pray for us.

Prayer: Father, center my life on celebrating, receiving, and living the New Passover, the Eucharist
(see Lk 22:15).

Promise: "Beloved, if our consciences have nothing to charge us with, we can be sure that God is with
us and that we will receive at His hands whatever we ask. Why? Because we are keeping His commandments
and doing what is pleasing in His sight." -1 Jn 3:21-22

Praise: Praise Jesus, Who "grew in size and strength, filled with wisdom; and the grace of God was
upon him" (Lk 2:40).

Pope Francis, Shepherd of Truth
https://presentationministries.com/pope/fst2018-11.asp?navlink=latest

Notable quotations from Pope Francis and official teachings of the Roman Catholic Church

END HUNGER

"LACK OF POLITICAL WILL"

There is a fundamental lack of political will. What is needed is the willingness to end hunger, and
this ultimately will not happen without a moral conviction that is shared by all peoples and all
religious persuasions, where the integral good of the person is at the heart of all initiatives and
consists in "doing to another what we would want done to ourselves."

DON'T BE INDIFFERENT

... These are some reflections I wish to share with those men and women who do not allow themselves
to succumb to indifference; who hear the cry of those who do not have the minimum needed to lead a
dignified life.

THE CHURCH AND THE POOR

For her part, the Catholic Church, in the exercise of the mission with which her divine Founder has
entrusted her, struggles daily throughout the world against hunger and malnutrition in multiple ways
and through her various structures and associations, remembering that those who suffer from misery
are not different from us. They share our flesh and blood. They deserve ... a friendly hand to help
and support them, in such a way that no one is left behind, so that in our world fraternal solidarity
may boast its own identity card and citizenship, beyond any flashy slogans void of substance.

LOVE TO OBEY

"They came...in accord with the dictate in the law of the Lord." -Luke 2:24

In today's Gospel reading recounting the presentation of Jesus and the purification of Mary in the Temple, Mary and Joseph do everything according to the law of Moses. Mary presents herself in the Temple to be purified forty days after the "uncleanness" of childbirth, though this was unnecessary since she was sinless and ever pure (see Lv 12:6-8). Mary and Joseph offered their first-born Son, Jesus, to the Lord, though this was unnecessary because the Baby Jesus was God Himself. However, the law required the first-born son to be presented to the Lord (Ex 13:2). They brought two turtledoves, which shows they were poor. Those who were more prosperous would have offered a lamb (see Lv 12:6-8). They offered one of the doves as a "sin offering," even though they had not sinned (see Lv 12:8).

As obedient and faithful Jews, Mary and Joseph obeyed the law gladly and exactly. Today, some Christians and Catholics short-circuit the commands of the Lord, cutting corners, choosing which commands of the Lord to obey and which to ignore. Today's culture often overlooks the Lord's commands on fornication, homosexual acts, contraception (Catechism 2357, 2396), relativism which ignores objective truth, Mass attendance on Sundays, submission to the Pope and the Magisterium, generosity to the poor, and many others.

It is not popular to obey the Lord. However, His commands are not burdensome (1 Jn 5:3). Show the Lord that you truly love Him; obey His commands (Jn 14:15).

Prayer: Father, may I love You so much that I obey You always.

Promise: "The way we can be sure we are in union with Him is for the man who claims to abide in Him to conduct himself just as He did." -1 Jn 2:5-6

Praise: King Henry II was moved to do public penance for the part he played in the death of St. Thomas Becket.

WE WISH YOU AN OBEDIENT CHRISTMAS

"He ordered the massacre of all the boys...in Bethlehem." -Matthew 2:16

At the first Christmas, Herod killed several innocent children. This Christmas, many thousands of innocent children will be killed each day not only through surgical but especially chemical abortions. Today's death toll of innocent babies is unprecedented in the history of the human race.

St. Joseph saved his Foster-Son, Jesus, from death by obeying a revelation he received in a dream. Likewise, the Lord has revealed to us how we can stop the massacre of infants. He told us through Pope St. John Paul II that prayer and fasting are the most effective weapons in fighting against the culture of death (The Gospel of Life, 100). "Our battle is not against human forces but against the principalities and powers, the rulers of this world of darkness, the evil spirits in regions above" (Eph 6:12). Some demons cannot be driven out except by prayer and fasting (Mt 17:21, NAB).

Like Joseph, we have been told by the Lord how to save lives. Will we be like Joseph and obey the Lord, or will we through our disobedience let demons use the Herods of today to continue the massacre of innocent children? Be like Joseph. Be obedient. Be for life.

Prayer: Father, may I not be selfish and thereby defeated by Satan.

Promise: "If anyone should sin, we have, in the presence of the Father, Jesus Christ, an Intercessor Who is just. He is an Offering for our sins, and not for our sins only, but for those of the whole world." -1 Jn 2:1-2

Praise: "The Holy Innocents gave witness not by words but by their life's blood" (Liturgy of the Hours).

BETTER THAN THE INCARNATION? - One Bread, One Body, 12/27/2018

BETTER THAN THE INCARNATION?

"This life became visible." -1 John 1:2

St. John proclaims the Incarnation in a spectacular fashion. The God Who is outside of time and space has entered into both in order to be with us, to become flesh and make His dwelling among us (Jn 1:14). Human beings could see, touch, hear, and even eat Jesus, the Word made flesh (1 Jn 1:1-2; Jn 6:50-58). St. John never got over the marvelous truth of the Incarnation, that the majestic God of Whom he wrote could be embraced, heard, and seen. John even leaned back against Jesus and felt Jesus' Sacred Heart beating. John knew what he was talking about when he wrote of the Word becoming flesh (Jn 1:14; 1 Jn 1:1ff).

Yet Jesus told John, and us: "It is much better for you that I go" back to heaven and leave this earth (Jn 16:7). John knew that the incarnate presence of Jesus would remain with us in "a more excellent" (Heb 8:6) way through the Eucharist (Jn 6:56) and the Holy Spirit (Jn 16:7-14). He tells us: "This is how we know that He remains in us: from the Spirit that He gave us" (1 Jn 3:24). Likewise, John advises us that Jesus promises that anyone who "feeds on My flesh and drinks My blood remains in Me, and I in" that person (Jn 6:56).

Believe that Jesus remains with us in a "more excellent" way. With St. John, see and believe (Jn 20:8).

Prayer: Father, send the Holy Spirit to utterly amaze me at the realization that Jesus died on the cross for me.

Promise: "What was from the beginning, what we have heard, what we have seen with our eyes, what we have looked upon and our hands have touched - we speak of the Word of life." -1 Jn 1:1

Praise: St. John's exhortation in his old age was: "Little children, love one another" (see 1 Jn 4:7).

"DO YOU HEAR WHAT I HEAR?" - One Bread, One Body, 12/26/2018

Wednesday, December 26, 2018, St. Stephen

Acts 6:8-10; 7:54-59, Psalm 31:3-4, 6, 8, 16-17, Matthew 10:17-22

"DO YOU HEAR WHAT I HEAR?"

"They ground their teeth in anger at him." -Acts 7:54

On this second day of the Church's Christmas season, the Hallelujahs and Glorias of Christmas Day have already faded away in the secular world. The stores and malls are taking down their decorations. The secular radio stations have returned to playing their normal music. Santa suits are stored in closets, to be pulled out around Halloween 2019. Most particularly, those who persecute Christians have returned to "anger" and fury against those who live for Jesus alone (see Acts 7:54).

Persecution is a consequence of prostrating ourselves at the foot of the manger in worship. All who bow down in homage to the Baby Jesus are also acknowledging Him as Messiah, Savior, Redeemer, and Lord. In so doing, we also acknowledge that this Baby is our "only Ruler...and Lord" (1 Tm 6:15), and that the rulers of this world are as nothing before Him. This places us in direct conflict with the kingdom of the prince of darkness, Satan, and all those led by the world, the flesh, and the devil (1 Jn 2:16) - for bowing before the wood of the manger leads to lying prostrate and exposed before the wood of the cross.

St. Stephen knew this well. When Stephen was persecuted, he kept his eyes fixed on Jesus (Acts 7:55; Heb 3:1; 12:2). Isaiah prophesied that a Child shall lead us (Is 11:6). With St. Stephen, will you follow this Child wherever He leads?

Prayer: Father, "into Your hands I commend my spirit; You will redeem me, O Lord, O faithful God" (Ps 31:6).

Promise: "Whoever holds out to the end will escape death." -Mt 10:22

Praise: St. Stephen was led by and led others to the Lord. "As Stephen was being stoned he could be heard praying, 'Lord Jesus, receive my spirit.' He fell to his knees and cried out in a loud voice, 'Lord, do not hold this sin against them.' And with that he died" (Acts 7:59-60).

THE MESSENGER FROM HEAVEN - One Bread, One Body, 12/25/2018

We at Presentation Ministries wish you a very holy and blessed Christmas. We pray you will receive Jesus, the Word Incarnate, in a new way into your heart.

Tuesday, December 25, 2018, Christmas

THE MESSENGER FROM HEAVEN

"How beautiful...are the feet of Him Who brings glad tidings." -Isaiah 52:7

In the days before modern global communications, messengers ran or walked to deliver their news transmissions. They brought news from loved ones in far-off places to people who could not travel. These messengers were most welcome couriers.

Today, on this Christmas Day, we celebrate a pair of tiny, beautiful feet (Is 52:7) - those of Jesus Christ, the Son of God. In times past God sent His messages "in fragmentary and varied ways...through the prophets" (Heb 1:1). "In this, the final age, He has spoken to us through His Son," Jesus Christ, the Messenger from heaven (Heb 1:2). In Jesus, we have been given the best possible news: the fullness of divine revelation and the establishment of the Church, the Body of Christ, so that God's messages will continue.

We who live on this earth resemble the folks from centuries past. They longed for news of far-off loved ones, but could not receive it without the intervention of a messenger. We long for news from heaven, but cannot receive it without hearing from the Messenger. Jesus is the One sent from heaven, Who knows what He is saying (see Jn 3:11-13). Therefore, believe Jesus. Prostrate yourself before Him. Choose the better portion - to sit at His beautiful feet, listen to His words (Lk 10:39-42), and believe and obey Him.

Prayer: Jesus, my Savior and Lord, may I live for every word that comes from Your mouth (Mt 4:4).

Promise: "The Word became flesh and made His dwelling among us." -Jn 1:14

Praise: "This day in David's city a Savior has been born to you, the Messiah and Lord" (Lk 2:11). "Glory to God in high heaven" and peace on earth! (Lk 2:14)

MAKE IT SNAPPY - One Bread, One Body, 12/24/2018

We at Presentation Ministries wish you a very holy and blessed Christmas. We pray you will receive Jesus, the Word Incarnate, in a new way into your heart.

MAKE IT SNAPPY

"Zechariah his father, filled with the Holy Spirit, uttered this prophecy." -Luke 1:67

Zechariah had been unable to speak for nine months. He repented, obeyed God, and "snapped out of it," as He was "filled with the Holy Spirit."

The Church is full of people like Zechariah. These people have prayed for years and are good people, but in some ways they are spiritually deaf, mute, blind, or paralyzed. Although they may be very active in their churches and doing a lot of good, something is holding them back from a full life in the Holy Spirit.

On this Christmas Eve day, the Lord is giving the grace to "snap out of it." The Lord is snapping chains right now. He is snapping His fingers, and people are waking up spiritually, facing reality, repenting, and giving their lives to Him. Hearts and minds are being opened to love Jesus, and tongues are being loosed (Lk 1:64) to witness for Jesus. The Lord is giving us instant freedom so that "rid of fear and delivered from the enemy, we should serve Him devoutly and through all our days be holy in His sight" (Lk 1:74-75). Before Christmas, "snap out of it."

Prayer: Father, when You snap Your fingers, may I wake up to Your love.

Promise: "I have been with you wherever you went, and I have destroyed all your enemies before you." -2 Sm 7:9

Praise: "Blessed be the Lord the God of Israel because He has visited and ransomed His people" (Lk 1:68).

PM eNewsletter 4th Sunday of Advent

December 23rd Fourth Sunday of Advent

Oh! Christ, You are about to come again as the babe in the manger.

Please help us to realize that You, as a baby, are all loving and all forgiving.

That all of our sins can and should be washed away, so that this year we can end on a
note of praise and peace.

We can never truly have peace unless we are truly washed clean in Your Blood.

Jesus, thank You so much for Your becoming like us in everything but sin.

Let us be excited that You love us so much that You died that we might have eternal
life.

Let us, this joyous season, lift our voices in praise and glory to You.

Let us be freed from the bondage of sin and soar like the angels in loving You.

Amen and Amen.

Thank You Lord, for loving us totally.

One Bread, One Body

This weeks readings and reflections

Sunday BODY LANGUAGE
https://presentationministries.com/obob/obob.asp?lang=en&d=12/23/2018

"We have been sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all." -Hebrews 10:10

At the Christmas liturgies, in hundreds of nations, billions of people will look at statues or pictures
of the body of Baby Jesus. Moreover, hundreds of millions of people always carry with them crucifixes
depicting the crucified body of Jesus. There is something awesome and mysterious about the body of Jesus.

When the body of Jesus was just beginning to be formed shortly after Mary conceived Him, Mary took Jesus'
body "into the hill country to a town of Judah, where she entered Zechariah's house and greeted Elizabeth.
When Elizabeth heard Mary's greeting, the baby leapt in her womb. Elizabeth was filled with the Holy
Spirit" (Lk 1:39-41). The first days of the presence of Jesus' body on earth resulted in an explosion by
the Holy Spirit.

Several months later, wise men saw the body of Baby Jesus and were compelled to give Him gold,
frankincense, and myrrh (Mt 2:11).

Several years later, thousands of people touched "just the tassel" of the cloak clothing Jesus' body, and
"all who touched Him got well" (see Mk 6:56).

Today, we can touch the body of Christ in even more powerful and intimate ways by loving the Body of
Christ, the Church (see Eph 5:25ff), and especially by receiving the Body of Christ in Holy Communion.
That is why the season beginning Tuesday is called "Christmas," for at Mass we touch Christ's Body.

"Mary Christ-Mass"! Like Mary, receive the Body of Christ in your body.

Prayer: Father, when I go to Communion and hear the words "Body of Christ," may I never be the same.

Promise: "A body You have prepared for Me." -Heb 10:5

Praise: "O Emmanuel, King and Lawgiver, Desire of the nations, Savior of all people, come and set us free,
Lord our God."

Notable quotations from Pope Francis and official teachings of the Roman Catholic Church

END HUNGER

"EFFECTIVE HELP"

The poor expect from us an effective help that takes them out of their misery... In this twenty-first
century that has seen considerable advances in the field of technology, science, communications and
infrastructure, we ought to feel shame for not having achieved the same advances in humanity and
solidarity, and so satisfy the primary needs of the most disadvantaged.

"WE MUST DO BETTER"

We are all called to go further. We can and we must do better for the helpless. We must move to
concrete action, so that the scourge of hunger disappears completely.

WE CAN DO IT

We do indeed have the adequate means and framework so that beautiful words and good wishes may become
an action plan of substance that leads effectively to the eradication of hunger in our world. To this
end we need joint efforts, upright hearts, and persistent concern to firmly and resolutely make the
other's problems one's own.

MOTHER OF THE WORD INCARNATE - One Bread, One Body, 12/22/2018

Saturday, December 22, 2018

1 Samuel 1:24-28, 1 Samuel 2:1, 4-8, Luke 1:46-56

MOTHER OF THE WORD INCARNATE

"...even as He promised our fathers, promised Abraham and his descendants forever." -Luke 1:55

Mary's response to Elizabeth in the words of the Magnificat (Lk 1:46-55) shows her to be a woman completely grounded in God's Word. Mary's lifelong relationship with the Word of God reached its fulfillment when she became pregnant with Jesus, "the Word" (Jn 1:1). The mother of the Word Incarnate was so filled with the Word that Scripture flowed from her lips effortlessly.

Nearly every line of her Magnificat echoes an Old Testament passage. Mary was undoubtedly familiar with Hannah's canticle in today's responsorial Psalm (1 Sm 2:1-10), but echoes of the Psalms and other Old Testament verses also resound throughout her Magnificat. The New American Bible footnotes list twelve Old Testament Scriptures as cross-references for the Magnificat, while the Jerusalem Bible references twenty-three such passages.

"Ignorance of the Scriptures is ignorance of Christ" (Catechism of the Catholic Church, 133). God sent His only Son into the world on the first Christmas so that we might believe in Him and receive eternal life (Jn 3:16). If you conclude Christmas 2018 without coming to know Jesus as Lord, Savior, and God, then you've missed the whole purpose of Christmas. Therefore, follow Mary's lead. Immerse yourself in the Scriptures. Prepare to meet Jesus, the Word of God, this Christmas.

Prayer: Holy Spirit, Author of the Scriptures, grant me from this moment forth an unquenchable desire to read the Bible.

Promise: "The Lord granted my request." -1 Sm 1:27

Praise: "O King of all the nations, the only Joy of every human heart; O Keystone of the mighty arch of man, come and save the creature You fashioned from the dust."

Yesterday we heard of King Ahaz wearying God (Is 7:13). Today we picture God "springing across the mountains, leaping across the hills" (Sg 2:8), and breaking out into song because of us (Zep 3:17). We can (so to speak) make God jubilant or sad.

The purpose of Christmas is not for us to be happy; rather, it is for us to make God happy, even jubilant. It's not what we "get for Christmas," but what God "gets for Christmas." We give God what He wants and make Him happy by giving Him ourselves, our lives, and our love, and by inviting others to do the same.

Then, when God sees you singing Christmas carols, He will want to sing along with you and sing because of you. Consequently, give your life and love to Him totally and ever more deeply. With docility, receive the only true Christmas Spirit: the Holy Spirit. Rejoice in the Spirit and with the Spirit.

Prayer: Father, may I make You jump for joy.

Promise: "Blest is she who trusted that the Lord's words to her would be fulfilled." -Lk 1:45

Praise: "O Radiant Dawn, Splendor of eternal light, Sun of Justice: Come, shine on those who dwell in darkness and the shadow of death."

(Give God a gift of reading His book, the Bible, every day. We have several series to help you. "Overview of the Bible" is six CDs starting with CD 10 A-1. "15 Minute Bible Teaching-New Testament" is forty CDs starting with CD 700. "An Introduction to each Book of the Bible" is 32 CDs starting with CD 21-1 or 17 DVDs starting with DVD-21.)

HE'S ON THE TIP OF MY TONGUE - One Bread, One Body, 12/20/2018

HE'S ON THE TIP OF MY TONGUE

"You shall conceive and bear a Son and give Him the name Jesus." -Luke 1:31

The name Jesus means "God saves." By His very nature, Jesus is a Savior (Ti 1:4). He has come to seek and save us, the lost (Lk 19:10). "There is no salvation in anyone else, for there is no other name in the whole world given to men by which we are to be saved" (Acts 4:12).

Jesus is "Emmanuel, a name which means 'God is with us' " (Mt 1:23). He became flesh and lived among us (Jn 1:14). He is with us "always, until the end of" time (Mt 28:20).

Jesus is "King" and "Ruler" (1 Tm 6:15). "The Lord God will give Him the throne of David His father. He will rule over the house of Jacob forever and His reign will be without end" (Lk 1:32-33).

Jesus is the name above all names, and at His name every knee must bow and every tongue proclaim that Jesus is Lord (Phil 2:9-11). The name Jesus is powerful. His name spoken and written is so powerful that the world and the devil suppress it, and try to substitute other names, like Santa, Frosty, and Rudolph.

How often have you heard the name of Jesus spoken in the last week? How often have you spoken His name? The retailers and TV networks won't speak the name of Jesus. Nonetheless, Christmas is His birthday, and we are His heralds. If we don't shout out the name of Jesus, will the bricks in the mall have to praise Jesus for us? (see Lk 19:40)

Prayer: Jesus, immerse me in You. Jesus, Jesus, Jesus...

Promise: "He shall receive a blessing from the Lord, a reward from God his Savior." -Ps 24:5

Praise: "O Key of David, O royal Power of Israel controlling at Your will the gate of heaven: come, break down the prison walls of death for those who dwell in darkness and the shadow of death; and lead Your captive people into freedom."

SPIRIT-FILLED BABIES - One Bread, One Body, 12/19/2018

Wednesday, December 19, 2018

Judges 13:2-7, 24-25, Psalm 71:3-6, 16-17, Luke 1:5-25

SPIRIT-FILLED BABIES

"He will be filled with the Holy Spirit from His mother's womb." -Luke 1:15

The Holy Spirit filled St. John the Baptist even while he was in the womb of his mother, Elizabeth. The Spirit stirred young Samson as he grew into manhood (Jgs 13:25). As a youth, "the Spirit of the Lord rushed upon David" (1 Sm 16:13).

Today's Scriptures, and numerous other verses throughout the Bible, show that the Holy Spirit works powerfully through pre-born babies, infants, children, and youth. It's no wonder, then, that Satan, his demons, and pawns have promoted and attempted to mandate the widespread use of contraception and abortion. A significant legion of the spirit-filled army of God is removed from the battle against Satan's armies in this way. Therefore, work with the Lord's army by promoting life, from conception to natural death.

Satan has also worked to limit the Lord's army by his attack on children and youth through the culture of death. As today's Scriptures demonstrate, the Holy Spirit plans to fill children and youth and use them as His mighty instruments. The kingdom of darkness tries to steal youth through drugs, sexual sins and perversions, mind-numbing electronic diversions, and much more.

The Holy Spirit has no problem filling babies, children, and youth with his mighty power. Will you pray and work so that the Spirit can move freely in all members of the Body of Christ?

Prayer: Father, may I not persist in my "unbelief, but believe" that You can profoundly reach children and youth (see Jn 20:27).

Promise: "The boy grew up and the Lord blessed him; the Spirit of the Lord first stirred him." -Jgs 13:24-25

Praise: "O Flower of Jesse's stem, You have been raised up as a Sign for all peoples; kings stand silent in Your presence; the nations bow down in worship before You. Come, let nothing keep You from coming to our aid."

(This teaching was submitted by a member of our editorial team.)

JOSEPH, AN EXPERT ON CHRISTMAS - One Bread, One Body, 12/18/2018

JOSEPH, AN EXPERT ON CHRISTMAS

"Joseph, son of David, have no fear about taking Mary as your wife. It is by the Holy Spirit that she has conceived this Child. She is to have a Son and you are to name Him Jesus." -Matthew 1:20-21

To prepare us for Christ's Christmas coming, the Church introduced us yesterday to Judah (Gn 49:8). We have already been introduced to John the Baptizer, Elijah, Francis Xavier, Juan Diego, Lucy, John of the Cross, and other Advent saints. Of course, Mary, the immaculately conceived mother of God and our Lady of Guadalupe, is the major saint the Lord has chosen to prepare us for His Christmas coming.

Also, St. Joseph is being more and more recognized as exceptionally important to the Church and her preparation for Christ's Christmas coming. St. Joseph was present for the first Christmas, and he is greatly anointed by his Foster-Son to help us be present for this Christmas season. Joseph teaches us to have faith in the Lord even when we don't or can't understand what He's doing. Joseph models fearless (see Mt 1:20) obedience to the Lord's call (Mt 1:24). Joseph shows us an example of poverty at the manger (Lk 2:7), forgiveness for enemies, and courage in decision-making (see Mt 2:13ff).

This Christmas more than ever, St. Joseph, pray for us!

Prayer: Father, deepen my devotion to St. Joseph so as to deepen my worship of You.

Promise: "I will raise up a righteous Shoot to David." -Jer 23:5

Praise: "O sacred Lord of ancient Israel, Who showed Yourself to Moses in the burning bush, Who gave him the holy law on Sinai mountain: come, stretch out Your mighty hand to set us free."

(Do you need some time alone with the Lord? Consider a silent retreat. Contact us at Our Lady of Guadalupe Discipleship Center, 937-587-5464 or 513-373-2397 to see what we have to offer.)

INTERRUPTING THE CIRCLE OF LIFE - One Bread, One Body, 12/17/2018

INTERRUPTING THE CIRCLE OF LIFE

"A family record of Jesus Christ..." -Matthew 1:1

Family was everything to the Jews. The bloodline was of extreme importance. Each family line carried significant meaning. The Jews committed their genealogies to memory and recited them to one another. This verbal transmission was the norm, as most people could not read.

God didn't simply come down to earth, rescue us impersonally, and then leave us. Jesus entered into family life and family lines, thereby showing God's personal love. Jesus bore our burdens (Is 53:4; Mt 8:17), our human nature, and even our family line.

So here we are, dwelling in human bodies, born into our family line, with its good and bad members. We cannot choose our family heritage. Jesus, however, has transformed our family line completely. We no longer need blame our problems on Grandpa, Uncle John, Mom and Dad, or Adam and Eve. Jesus has entered into our family lineage, with all its dysfunction. Look at Jesus' family line - it contains more dysfunction than a soap opera, as much boredom as any other family line, and is full of nondescript and sinful people. Yet Jesus loves His family line, even seeing to it that His family line appears twice in the Bible (Mt 1:1-17; Lk 3:23-38). He is not ashamed to be our God (Heb 11:16) or our relative. He loves us so much that He has entered our human family. Embrace your family heritage in Christ.

Prayer: Jesus, take over my family. I give You my permission to do whatever You wish in my earthly family line.

Promise: "Justice shall flower in His days, and profound peace, till the moon be no more." -Ps 72:7

Praise: "O Wisdom, O holy Word of God, You govern all creation with Your strong yet tender care."

(This teaching was submitted by a member of our editorial team.)

PM eNewsletter 3rd Sunday of Advent

December 16th Third Sunday of Advent

Jesus, as we get closer to the greatest moment in all of history, Your birth.

Let us stop all the Christmas preparation, and come and just sit with You in adoration.

Let us just sit before the Lord of Lords, the King of Kings and let us just be in awe of the fact,
that You are really present in the Most Blessed Eucharist.

You love us so much that You want us to eat the Bread of Life, and slowly become truly Christ to
others.

Let us see in the breaking of the Bread, the love, the help and the healing that You always give us.

Let us become new creations in, to and through You.

Amen and Amen.

Thank You Lord, for loving us totally.

One Bread, One Body

This weeks readings and reflections

Sunday WHEN DADDY SINGS
https://presentationministries.com/obob/obob.asp?lang=en&d=12/16/2018

"Sing joyfully." -Zephaniah 3:14

The Lord, through St. Paul, commands and graces us to rejoice in Him always (Phil 4:4). No matter how
many problems we have, no matter how bad we feel - the fact that we are "in the Lord" dwarfs everything
else. How can we let a little cloud or two eclipse the Son?

When we fix our eyes on Jesus (Heb 12:2), the Son of God (Mk 1:1), He will reveal to us our heavenly
Father (Lk 10:22; Jn 14:6), Who is the Source of our joy. Jesus and the Holy Spirit will show us our
Abba (see Gal 4:6) rejoicing over each one of us with gladness and renewing us in His love (Zep 3:17).
We will see the reality that God Himself, our Abba, is at this moment singing joyfully because of us,
His adopted children (Rm 8:15; Zep 3:17).

Abba's joyous singing is quite contagious - especially for His children. In the presence of Abba, we
find ourselves breaking out into song and singing our parts in the Trinitarian musical. Our everlasting
songs of joy drown out our passing sorrows. We "rejoice in the Lord always! I say it again. Rejoice!"
(Phil 4:4)

Prayer: Father, may I "rejoice with inexpressible joy touched with glory" (1 Pt 1:8).

Promise: "He will baptize you in the Holy Spirit and in fire." -Lk 3:16

Praise: "I rejoice heartily in the Lord, in my God is the joy of my soul" (Is 61:10).

Pope Francis, Shepherd of Truth
https://presentationministries.com/pope/fst2018-11.asp?navlink=latest

Notable quotations from Pope Francis and official teachings of the Roman Catholic Church

END HUNGER

DON'T BE INDIFFERENT

... These are some reflections I wish to share with those men and women who do not allow themselves
to succumb to indifference; who hear the cry of those who do not have the minimum needed to lead a
dignified life.

THE CHURCH AND THE POOR

For her part, the Catholic Church, in the exercise of the mission with which her divine Founder has
entrusted her, struggles daily throughout the world against hunger and malnutrition in multiple ways
and through her various structures and associations, remembering that those who suffer from misery are
not different from us. They share our flesh and blood. They deserve ... a friendly hand to help and
support them, in such a way that no one is left behind, so that in our world fraternal solidarity may
boast its own identity card and citizenship, beyond any flashy slogans void of substance.

"HOPES OF MILLIONS"

The annual celebration of World Food Day emphasizes ... the needs, yearnings and hopes of millions of
persons who lack bread each day. Increasingly, there are more people who sadly make up part of that
great number of human beings who have nothing, or almost nothing to eat. It should be the opposite and
yet recent statistics are a painful proof of how international solidarity appears to be cooling.
