PM eNewsletter Holy Family

December 31st Holy family

Jesus, as we end this year, let us see the power of love that exists in the human family that
should be like your Holy Family.

We all have our faults and failings, but they can be given to You, so that we can be free to
love those who gave us life and took care of us as children.

Let us see that our parents did the best they could where they were at.

And let us pray for them to come and find the love that You have for all families.

Jesus, help all children, especially those who had difficult childhoods, and give them the
grace to forgive.

Let this next year be a year of peace and love and forgivness.

Amen and Amen.

Thank You Lord, for loving us totally.

One Bread, One Body

This weeks readings and reflections

Sunday THE REAL THING
http://presentationministries.com/obob/obob.asp?lang=en&d=12/31/2017

"He came to the temple now, inspired by the Spirit, and when the parents brought in the Child
Jesus to perform for Him the customary ritual of the law, he took Him in his arms and blessed God."
-Luke 2:27-28

Some orthodox Jews have the custom of using the birth of a baby boy as an occasion to discourse on
the coming of the Messiah. An older relative traditionally starts the conversation with the
question: "Could this baby be the Messiah?" Then various relatives wax eloquently about the coming
and the glories of the Messiah.

Some people may have thought that Simeon and Anna were only engaging in this traditional
conversation when they were talking about the Child Jesus "to all who looked forward to the
deliverance of Jerusalem" (Lk 2:38). Simeon and Anna may have then even more vehemently insisted
that Jesus was "a revealing Light to the Gentiles, the Glory"of Israel (Lk 2:32). However, people
may have thought this was part of the game. Then Simeon and Anna would have tried to tell them this
wasn't a ritual, but the real thing. This Baby was the Messiah!

We face a similar situation in our day. When we proclaim Jesus as Messiah and Lord, people think
this is merely the religious game and the standard church-talk. Yet we, like Simeon and Anna, must
be filled with the Holy Spirit and proclaim that this is the real thing. Jesus is the Messiah.
Christmas is real. God has become a man. We are saved. Jesus is Lord and God.

Prayer: Father, may our family life be so holy that it shouts that Jesus is the Messiah.

Promise: "He remembers forever His covenant which He made binding for a thousand generations."
-Ps 105:8

Praise: Praise God our "Father from Whom every family in heaven and on earth takes its' name"
(Eph 3:14-15).

Notable quotations from Pope Francis and official teachings of the Roman Catholic Church

NUCLEAR DISARMAMENT

"MENTALITY OF FEAR"

For they exist in the service of a mentality of fear that affects not only the parties in
conflict but the entire human race.

"FALSE SENSE OF SECURITY"

International relations cannot be held captive to military force, mutual intimidation, and the
parading of stockpiles of arms. Weapons of mass destruction, particularly nuclear weapons,
create nothing but a false sense of security. They cannot constitute the basis for peaceful
coexistence between members of the human family, which must rather be inspired by an ethics of
solidarity...

"THE NEW NAME OF PEACE"

This year marks the fiftieth anniversary of the Encyclical Letter Populorum Progressio of Pope
Paul VI. That Encyclical, in developing the Christian concept of the person, set forth the
notion of integral human development and proposed it as "the new name of peace".

ANNA DIDN'T MISS HER DAY

"Coming on the scene at this moment, [Anna] gave thanks to God and talked about the Child to all." -Luke 2:38

Anna the prophetess had been coming to the Temple to worship for roughly sixty years - over twenty-thousand days worshipping God daily in the Temple! How easy it would be to not be alert the one day out of twenty-thousand that the Savior and Messiah showed up! Moreover, Anna didn't have the benefit of advance notice that the Lord had given to Simeon (see Lk 2:26). Anna had to be ready and alert every day for twenty-thousand days. She resembled the wise virgins who kept their lamp filled with oil (Mt 25:4) and were ready when the Master appeared.

I have been attending Holy Mass daily for the last twenty-seven years. That is about nine-thousand days of Masses. Though I try hard at each Mass to listen to God's Word to hear what He wants written for this booklet, I have failed so many times to be alert or even remember the main theme of Mass. Anna the prophetess is remarkable at listening to God and being ready to respond and speak. How easy it would have been for her to miss the moment, just like the people of Jerusalem missed the time of their visitation (Lk 19:44). However, Anna was ready, and for eternity her faithfulness will be proclaimed.

Be an Anna. Listen daily to the Lord in expectant and alert faith.

Prayer: Father, I don't want to miss even one drop of the love You pour out upon me. Grant me a new heart and mind to listen for You.

Promise: "The world with its seductions is passing away but the man who does God's will endures forever." -1 Jn 2:17

Praise: Although Sarah is bedridden, she reads the daily eucharistic readings and makes a daily spiritual Communion.

LOVE TO OBEY; OBEY TO LOVE

"Whoever keeps His word, truly has the love of God been made perfect in him." -1 John 2:5

Out of love and obedience, Mary and Joseph kept God's commandments. The commandments required purification of the mother after childbirth and circumcision of the male child on the eighth day after birth (Lk 2:23; Lv 12:8; Ex 13:2). Mary and Joseph could have perhaps been tempted to feel that the special circumstances of the birth of their special Child placed them above the law. After all, many in positions of power have considered themselves above the law throughout human history. However, Mary and Joseph obeyed God's law in spirit, in freedom, in gratitude, in humility, and in love. Their obedience was rewarded with the confirming prophecies of Simeon and Anna (Lk 2:29-32, 34-35, 38).

Often people claim to love the Lord, but fail to obey Him with their lifestyle. The way we show our love for God is to obey His commandments (Jn 15:10; 1 Jn 5:2-3), "and His commandments are not burdensome" (1 Jn 5:3). Show God that you love Him. Obey Him.

Prayer: Father, may I humble myself to simply obey You and Your precepts. Grant that I would never succumb to the temptation of judging my needs and wants to be more important than Your teaching.

Promise: "This Child is destined to be the downfall and the rise of many in Israel." -Lk 2:34

Praise: St. Thomas spent his energy defending the rights of the Church against the state and, because of his faithful stand, eventually was martyred for the sake of his faith.

RECOVER YOUR INNOCENCE

"I am writing this to keep you from sin." -1 John 2:1

Jesus Christ became man to overcome the bondage and death due to sin. In Jesus, we are no longer doomed to be subject to the tyranny of the world, the flesh, and the devil (1 Jn 2:16). Jesus has come to declare the victory of innocence over evil, of the Spirit over the flesh. It seems as if innocence once lost is impossible to be restored. Today's feast of the Holy Innocents celebrates not the massacre of innocent babies by King Herod, but rather the victory of that innocence over perversion and evil.

Today's feast proclaims that there is no freedom as great as the freedom of life in Christ. All those in Jesus are free from sin. Though we may have spent many years chained in sin, we are washed clean in the blood of Jesus. Though we may have long ago lost the innocence of childhood and though our sins be long-entrenched, yet, in Jesus' blood, we are washed white as snow (Is 1:18) and made clean in the holy life of the Lord Jesus.

So we offer Jesus our guilty, sin-stained hearts, and He turns our death into life, our sin into holiness, our slavery to sin into "the glorious freedom of the children of God" (Rm 8:21). The Exsultet of the Easter Vigil liturgy proclaims this: "The sanctifying power of this night...restores innocence to the fallen."

Rachel, mourning her slain child, thinks her weeping and loss are irreversible (Mt 2:18; Jer 31:15). Yet Jeremiah's prophecy of Rachel wailing concludes with this: "The sorrow you have shown shall have its reward...There is hope for your future, says the Lord" (Jer 31:16, 17). In Jesus, your lost innocence can be restored.

Prayer: Holy Innocents, teach us to live innocently in Jesus.

Promise: "We were rescued like a bird from the fowlers' snare; broken was the snare, and we were freed." -Ps 124:7

Praise: The Holy Innocents witnessed to the Innocent One. They were but the first of many holy and innocent martyrs who witness to the Holy One.

SHOCKED BY INFINITE LOVE

"She ran off to Simon Peter and the other disciple (the one Jesus loved)." -John 20:2

On this third day of Christmas, the Lord through His Church brings to our attention St. John, who has been customarily identified as the beloved disciple. The beloved disciple is nameless in John's Gospel, possibly to indicate that all Jesus' followers are beloved disciples.

When we realize that the Lord loves us personally, perfectly, infinitely, and unconditionally, we are:

* deeply rooted and securely grounded (Eph 3:17),
* affirmed and fulfilled,
* freed from fear (1 Jn 4:18),
* able to give this great love which we have received (1 Jn 4:19),
* able even to live in love and live in God (1 Jn 4:16), and
* willing to live totally and die sacrificially for the Lord and our brethren (see 1 Jn 3:16).

This Christmas season, let us receive much more of the love the Lord has always given us. The Lord cannot love us more, for He loves us infinitely. We, however, can better receive "the breadth and length and height and depth" of Christ's love and "experience this love" of Christ (Eph 3:18-19). This Christmas, may you be rendered speechless by realizing you are loved by God Who is Love (see 1 Jn 4:8, 16).

Prayer: Father, send the Holy Spirit to utterly amaze me at the realization that Jesus died on the cross for me.

Promise: "What was from the beginning, what we have heard, what we have seen with our eyes, what we have looked upon and our hands have touched - we speak of the Word of life." -1 Jn 1:1

Praise: St. John's love for Jesus overtook fear (1 Jn 4:18) as he received the grace to stand at the foot of the cross and was able to share in the Good News of Jesus' Resurrection.

THE RELATIONSHIP

"I see an opening in the sky, and the Son of Man standing at God's right hand." -Acts 7:56

When a baby is born, he can be held, seen, heard, touched, and kissed. We celebrate a birth because after a baby is born we can enter into a new dimension of personal relationship with that baby. We likewise celebrate the birth of Jesus because His birth made it possible for Mary, Joseph, the shepherds, the wise men, and us to become very close to Him.

Although we did not live at the time when we could see, touch, and hear Jesus physically, we can still be very close to Jesus. In fact, we can be closer than close to Jesus. By the power of the Spirit, we can be in Jesus and He in us (see Jn 17:23). We can even touch the Body and Blood, soul and divinity of Jesus in Holy Communion. We can receive Jesus and become one with Him (Jn 6:56). We can have a personal relationship with Jesus that is so deep that it will transform us and the whole world.

This relationship with Jesus is so powerful that those who live in His love are seen either as the best thing that has ever happened to the world or a threat to the culture of death (see 2 Cor 2:15-16). Thus, Christians are embraced as messengers of life, hope, and light, or they are attacked, persecuted, and sometimes killed (see Acts 7:57ff; Mt 10:17ff).

Love Jesus, the God-Man, and live the relationship that rocks the world.

Prayer: "Lord Jesus, receive my spirit" (Acts 7:59).

Promise: "Whoever holds out till the end will escape death." -Mt 10:22

Praise: St. Stephen accepted the grace to forgive his murderers and see Jesus in heaven before his earthly life ended.

UNPREDICTABLE - One Bread, One Body, 12/25/2017

We at Presentation Ministries wish you a very holy and blessed Christmas. We pray you will receive Jesus, the Word Incarnate, in a new way into your heart.

-----------------------------------------------------------------

Monday, December 25, 2017, Christmas

Isaiah 52:7-10, Hebrews 1:1-6, Psalm 98:1-6, John 1:1-18
Link to Readings --> http://www.usccb.org/bible/readings/122517.cfm

UNPREDICTABLE

"In the beginning was the Word; the Word was in God's presence, and the Word was God." -John 1:1

The Bible is the most unpredictable book ever written. The first words from God's Word for the Christmas Day Mass are: "How beautiful upon the mountains are the feet of Him Who brings glad tidings, announcing peace, bearing good news, announcing salvation" (Is 52:7). When everyone else is thinking about gaudy extravagance, God is talking about beautiful feet. These feet are beautiful because they bring the good news of peace (Is 52:7). After centuries of chaos, we can finally have shalom-peace, perfect harmony through salvation from sin, death, slavery, and Satan. This is accomplished not by our mere human efforts but by the God-King (Is 52:7).

Amazingly and once again unpredictably, the God-King is also the Infant-King, Jesus. Jesus is our Peace (Eph 2:14) and our Savior. He has become a Son of Man so we may become sons and daughters of God and even "sharers of the divine nature" (2 Pt 1:4). All we have to do is accept Him on His terms as Savior, King, Lord, and God. "To His own He came, yet His own did not accept Him. Any who did accept Him He empowered to become children of God" (Jn 1:11-12). Now, Christmas Day, "is the acceptable time! Now is the day of salvation!" (2 Cor 6:2)

Prayer: Jesus, I give my life to You. I decide to do Your will and not mine, to live for You and not for myself.

Promise: "In times past, God spoke in fragmentary and varied ways to our fathers through the prophets; in this, the final age, He has spoken to us through His Son." -Heb 1:1-2

Praise: "The Word became flesh and made His dwelling among us" (Jn 1:14). Alleluia!

PM eNewsletter Fourth Sunday of Advent

December 24th Fourth Sunday of Advent

This week, oh! Jesus, we celebrate Your birth.

You came as an infant, yet You are still all Mighty God.

You came as a poor child, yet You own everything.

Give us the grace to be astonished by Your birth, and help us to be on fire with love for You.

Let this Christmas be a new beginning into giving You all that we are.

Let us see that if we have You in our hearts, we have everything.

Let us sing to You, all the songs of praise and glory, and let us fall on our knees in humble
adoration.

Thank You, Jesus, for being one of us.

Amen and Amen.

Thank You Lord, for loving us totally.

One Bread, One Body

This weeks readings and reflections

Sunday THE PEACE OF CHRISTMAS
http://presentationministries.com/obob/obob.asp?lang=en&d=12/24/2017

"I will plant them so that they may dwell in their place without further disturbance." -2 Samuel 7:10

The Lord promised David rest from his enemies (2 Sm 7:11). This promise of peace was surprising
since violence was David's "claim to fame" (see 1 Sm 18:7). From cutting off Goliath's head to
setting up Uriah's murder, David lived an extremely violent life. People must have laughed when
they heard David was promised peace. Nevertheless, the promise at first seemed fulfilled because
David's son Solomon (Solomon means "peace") had a peaceful reign. Yet David's grandson Rehoboam
started a civil war. One war led to more wars. Israel had no peace. It seemed as if God's promise
of peace to David's house was not kept.

After almost a thousand years, the archangel Gabriel announced to Mary: "You shall conceive and
bear a Son and give Him the name Jesus. Great will be His dignity and He will be called Son of
the Most High. The Lord God will give Him the throne of David His father" (Lk 1:31-32). When this
Child was born on the first Christmas, the angels sang: "Glory to God in high heaven, peace on
earth" (Lk 2:14). It seemed as if God's ancient promise of peace was finally fulfilled, for Jesus
talked about loving enemies, turning the other cheek, making peace (Mt 5:9, 39, 44) and giving
peace (Jn 14:27). However, we eventually killed Jesus, our Peace (Eph 2:14), and continue warring
to the present day.

God's promise of peace to David's house has been fulfilled in Jesus. All who live totally for
Jesus have peace beyond understanding (Phil 4:7). This peace is not something imposed on us, but
Someone proposing to us. Accept Jesus our Peace.

Prayer: Father, may we beat our missiles into plowshares and our bombs into pruning hooks (Is 2:4).

Promise: "Let it be done to me as you say." -Lk 1:38

Praise: "Blessed be the Lord the God of Israel because He has visited and ransomed His people" (Lk 1:68).

Pope Francis, Shepherd of Truth
http://presentationministries.com/pope/fst2017-12.asp?navlink=latest

Notable quotations from Pope Francis and official teachings of the Roman Catholic Church

NUCLEAR DISARMAMENT

"A CERTAIN PESSIMISM"

A certain pessimism might make us think that "prospects for a world free from nuclear arms
and for integral disarmament" ... appear increasingly remote. Indeed, the escalation of the
arms race continues unabated and the price of modernizing and developing weaponry, not only
nuclear weapons, represents a considerable expense for nations.

"SECOND PLACE"

As a result, the real priorities facing our human family, such as the fight against poverty,
the promotion of peace, the undertaking of educational, ecological and healthcare projects,
and the development of human rights are relegated to second place...

"FIRMLY CONDEMNED"

Nor can we fail to be genuinely concerned by the catastrophic humanitarian and environmental
effects of any employment of nuclear devices. If we also take into account the risk of an
accidental detonation as a result of error of any kind, the threat of their use, as well as
their very possession, is to be firmly condemned.

THE LAST WORDS - One Bread, One Body, 12/23/2017

Saturday, December 23, 2017, St. John of Kanty

THE LAST WORDS

"...lest I come and strike the land with doom." -Malachi 3:24

In the last words of the Old Testament, the Lord warns us that unless fathers turn their hearts to their children and vice versa, He will "come and strike the land with doom." The last words of the New Testament and of the Bible are: "The grace of the Lord Jesus be with you all. Amen!" (Rv 22:21) Life is either doomed or graced. Life before we live for Christ is doomed, and life in Christ is graced. Jesus is the only One Who can and has saved us from doom (see Acts 4:12).

Because Jesus is God and has saved us from doom, we measure the years from the time of His birth, and we celebrate the birth of Jesus each Christmas with great festivities throughout the world. Millions of people will send greetings, give gifts, and decorate the world in the coming days of the Christmas season because of Who Jesus is and what He has done for us.

Get into the true Christmas Spirit. Accept Jesus as your Savior, Lord, and God. He gave His life for you. Give your life to Him as your Christmas present to Him on His birthday. Be saved from doom. Be saved by grace (Eph 2:8). Thank You Jesus, our Savior!

Prayer: Father, thank You for loving us so much that You sent Jesus so that whoever believes in Him would not be doomed but have everlasting life (see Jn 3:16).

Promise: "At that moment his mouth was opened and his tongue loosed, and he began to speak in praise of God." -Lk 1:64

Praise: "O Emmanuel, King and Lawgiver, Desire of the nations, Savior of all people, come and set us free, Lord our God."

(Bear fruit a hundredfold by having a ministry of the Word. For encouragement, order our tapes on the "Bible Teachers Series." Our six-tape audio series starts with AV 117-1. Our three-part video series starts with V-117.)

GIVE THE CHILDREN TO JESUS - One Bread, One Body, 12/22/2017

Friday, December 22, 2017

1 Samuel 1:24-28 1, Samuel 2:1, 4-8, Luke 1:46-56
Link to Readings --> http://www.usccb.org/bible/readings/122217.cfm

GIVE THE CHILDREN TO JESUS

"Now I, in turn, give him to the Lord; as long as he lives, he shall be dedicated to the Lord." -1 Samuel 1:28

The meaning of Christmas is: "God so loved the world that He gave His only Son" (Jn 3:16). Christmas is God's gift of a Child. To be in the Christmas Spirit, we should be like Hannah and give our children to the Lord (1 Sm 1:28). This is done by:

* married couples lovingly having all the children the Lord wants to give them,
* parents offering their children to the Lord as priests, deacons, and religious,
* parents being the major vocation directors for their children by teaching them the beauty, fruitfulness, and mystery of all vocations,
* godparents prayerfully discerning their godchildren's place in the body of Christ,
* all Christians praying that the Harvest-Master send workers into His harvest (Mt 9:37-38), and
* all Christians leading young people to Christ and to their vocations.

In some way, present a child to the Lord this Christmas and help change our culture of death into a civilization of love and life. The Lord promised that a little child would guide us (Is 11:6). We begin to give our world to the Lord by giving our children to Him. This is the meaning of Christmas.

Prayer: Father, all that I have is Yours. All my children are Yours. My life is Yours.

Promise: "My being proclaims the greatness of the Lord, my spirit finds joy in God my Savior." -Lk 1:46

Praise: "O King of all the nations, the only Joy of every human heart; O Keystone of the mighty arch of man, come and save the creature You fashioned from the dust."

"O COME, ALL YE FAITH-FUL"

"For see, the winter is past, the rains are over and gone. The flowers appear on the earth." -Song of Songs 2:11-12

When the Church tells us on the first day of winter in the northern hemisphere that "winter is past," it is calling us to walk by faith and not by sight (see 2 Cor 5:7). Faith is "conviction about things we do not see" (Heb 11:1).

Mary was a pregnant teenager, who could have been divorced by her husband Joseph and possibly even executed as an adulteress. Although externally Mary had reason to feel fearful and depressed, she magnified the Lord and rejoiced in God, her Savior (Lk 1:46-47). She visited, rejoiced, praised, and lived in faith, not sight. Mary had faith "that the Lord's words to her would be fulfilled" (Lk 1:45).

As we near the Christmas season, let us not go by what we see, for then we will get only what we see, that is, winter, coldness, and darkness. Rather, let us proceed by faith. Let us look at the inside, that is, God's indwelling, and not so much at the outside, a culture of sin and death. Let us rejoice in the measure in which we share Christ's suffering (1 Pt 4:13), not in the measure that we avoid sharing Christ's suffering. In the Holy Spirit, let us go by the invisible, not by the visible.

Christmas and life are matters of faith. Have faith in the Christ of Christmas. Share your faith so that others may have Christmas. Live by faith.

Prayer: Father, "increase our faith" (Lk 17:5). May we believe as Mary believed.

Promise: "When Elizabeth heard Mary's greeting, the baby leapt in her womb. Elizabeth was filled with the Holy Spirit." -Lk 1:41

Praise: "O Radiant Dawn, Splendor of eternal light, Sun of justice: come, shine on those who dwell in darkness and the shadow of death."

"REJOICE" THE LORD ALWAYS

"Is it not enough for you to weary men, must you also weary my God?" -Isaiah 7:13

Before writing this, I sat at two airports for several hours as my flights were canceled and/or delayed. I was very weary. Then I read Isaiah 7:13. In a manner of speaking, I weary God when I:

* complain and whine about my own weariness,
* refuse to "walk by faith" (see 2 Cor 5:7),
* sin,
* disobey the Lord,
* refuse to forgive,
* refuse to repent,
* gossip,
* waste the time the Lord has given me, and
* live in selfishness.

Those who sin like Ahaz and Zechariah (see Is 7:12; Lk 1:20) weary the Lord. Those who have faith like that of Mary give the Lord reason to rejoice over them with gladness and to sing joyfully because of them (Zep 3:17).

Men and women of faith, "rejoice" the Lord always. "I say it again. Rejoice!" (Phil 4:4)

Prayer: Jesus, You are my Joy. May I always be Your joy.

Promise: "I am the slave of the Lord. Let it be done to me according to your word." -Lk 1:38, our transl.

Praise: "O Key of David, O royal Power of Israel controlling at Your will the gate of heaven: come, break down the prison walls of death for those who dwell in darkness and the shadow of death; and lead Your captive people into freedom."

(Hear God's voice by reading the Bible every day. Listen to or download these series on our website to help you. FRUIT FOR CHRISTMAS - One Bread, One Body, 12/19/2017

FRUIT FOR CHRISTMAS

"His wife was barren and had borne no children." -Judges 13:2

Today the Church introduces us to the mother of Samson and to Elizabeth, the mother of John the Baptizer. Both of these women were barren, but the Lord miraculously made them fruitful. Are you barren, not physically, but spiritually? How many people have you helped lead to Christ this Advent? How many spiritual children have you begotten in the last couple of years? (see Phlm 10; 1 Cor 4:15) With how many people have you tried to share your faith? How many seeds of the gospel have you planted?

Many of us have been barren. We need the miracle mentioned in today's readings. We need to be made fruitful. If we don't share our faith in Jesus, do we have faith in Jesus? If we don't let others know that Jesus loves them, do we love them? If we haven't given others the opportunity to know Christ, how can they have Christmas? For without Christ there is no Christmas. Jesus taught: "I am the Vine, you are the branches. He who lives in Me and I in him, will produce abundantly" (Jn 15:5). Be fruitful and multiply (Gn 1:28).

Prayer: Father, may I give up my life to bear fruit abundantly (Jn 12:24).

Promise: "In these days the Lord is acting on my behalf; He has seen fit to remove my reproach among men." -Lk 1:25

Praise: "O Flower of Jesse's stem, You have been raised up as a Sign for all peoples; kings stand silent in Your presence; the nations bow down in worship before You. Come, let nothing keep You from coming to our aid."

(Prepare to rebuild the Church by reading the Bible every day. We have several tape series to help you. "Overview of the Bible "is six audio tapes starting with AV 10A-1 or three video tapes starting with V-10A. "15-minute Bible Teaching - New Testament "is forty audio tapes starting with #700. It is also available on our website. "An Introduction to each Book of the Bible" is 32 audio tapes starting with AV 21-1 or 17 video tapes starting with V-21.)

BE LIKE JOSEPH

"When His mother Mary was engaged to Joseph, but before they lived together, she was found with child through the power of the Holy Spirit." -Matthew 1:18

Joseph knew His wife was pregnant by someone other than him. The only possibility seemed to be that Mary was an adulteress. Yet in a dream, an angel told Joseph that Mary had conceived by the Holy Spirit (Mt 1:20).

Would you believe this miracle? Would you believe something that had never happened before? Would you believe something that you didn't and couldn't understand? Would you believe something from a dream? When Joseph believed in the virgin conception, he made one of the greatest acts of faith ever. If he had not made this great act of faith, he would not have been at the first Christmas.

If we are to meet Christ this Christmas, we must have faith, as Joseph had faith. A true Christmas is a matter of faith. We walk and live by faith (see 2 Cor 5:7), and we have Christmas by faith. Without faith, it is impossible to please God this Christmas or any time (Heb 11:6), and the purpose of Christmas is to please Christ. After all, it is His birthday celebration.

Very few people were aware of the first Christmas, even though a star announcing Jesus' birth blazed across the sky (Mt 2:2). At this Christmas, the few or many who will meet Christ shall be men and women of faith, people like St. Joseph. Have faith in the Christ of Christmas.

Prayer: Father, through Your Word may I hear You and have faith in You (Rm 10:17).

Promise: "He shall rescue the poor man when he cries out, and the afflicted when he has no one to help him." -Ps 72:12

Praise: "O sacred Lord of ancient Israel, Who showed Yourself to Moses in the burning bush, Who gave him the holy law on Sinai mountain: Come, stretch out Your mighty hand to set us free."

PM eNewsletter Third Sunday of Advent

December 17th Third Sunday of Advent

Jesus as we get closer to the greatest moment in all of history, Your birth.

Let us stop all the Christmas preparation, and come and just sit with You in adoration.

Let us just sit before the Lord of Lords, the King of Kings and let us just be in awe of
the fact, that You are really present in the Most Blessed Eucharist.

You love us so much that You want us to eat the Bread of Life, and slowly become truly
Christ to others.

Let us see in the breaking of the Bread, the love, the help and the healing that You
always give us.

Let us become new creations in, to and through You.

Amen and Amen.

Thank You Lord, for loving us totally.

One Bread, One Body

This weeks readings and reflections

Sunday I'VE BEEN HAD
http://presentationministries.com/obob/obob.asp?lang=en&d=12/17/2017

"The Spirit of the Lord God is upon me, because the Lord has anointed me." -Isaiah 61:1

To meet Christ this Christmas, we need the Holy Spirit to guide us (see Jn 16:13). Most of us
have the Holy Spirit because we have been baptized and confirmed. However, the central question
is: "Does the Holy Spirit have us?"

- Do we relate to the Holy Spirit as a Person? (see Catechism, 686)
- Does the Holy Spirit possess our lives to direct us as He wills?
- With Mary, have we said to the Holy Spirit: "Let it be done to me according to Your word"?
(see Lk 1:38)
- Are we quenching the Spirit (1 Thes 5:19) - or are we baptized in, that is, immersed in the
Holy Spirit? (Mk 1:8)
- Are we preoccupied with the Holy Spirit?
- Do we walk, talk, work, pray, eat, buy, love, think, and sleep in the Holy Spirit?
(see Gal 5:25)
- Have we offered our bodies to be the temples of the Spirit? (1 Cor 6:19)
- Do we have the life in the Spirit or merely occasional moments in the Spirit?

The only true Christmas Spirit is the Holy Spirit. Are you in the Christmas Spirit?
"Come, Holy Spirit!"

Prayer: "May the God of peace make you perfect in holiness. May He preserve You whole and entire,
spirit, soul, and body, irreproachable at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ" (1 Thes 5:23).

Promise: "He has sent me to bring glad tidings to the lowly, to heal the brokenhearted, to
proclaim liberty to the captives and release to the prisoners, to announce a year of favor from
the Lord." -Is 61:1-2

Praise: "O Wisdom, O holy Word of God, You govern all creation with Your strong yet tender care.
Come and show Your people the way to salvation."

Pope Francis, Shepherd of Truth

Notable quotations from Pope Francis and official teachings of the Roman Catholic Church

MIGRANTS AND REFUGEES

"MANY CHALLENGES"

This is a great responsibility, which the Church intends to share with all believers and
men and women of good will, who are called to respond to the many challenges of
contemporary migrati on with generosity, promptness, wisdom and foresight, each according
to their own abilities.

"OUR SHARED RESPONSE"

... I wish to reaffirm that "our shared response may be articulated by four verbs: to
welcome, to protect, to promote and to integrate."

WELCOME, PROTECT

... Welcoming means... offering broader options for migrants and refugees to enter
destination countries safely and legally... Protecting ... may be understood as a series
of steps intended to defend the rights and rights and dignity of migrants and refugees,
independent of their legal status.
