PM eNewsletter The first Sunday of Advent

November 30th The first Sunday of Advent

Here we are again, Jesus, into Christmas.

Please Lord, let this truly be a holy period, for us to prepare,
to herald Your birth.

Let us not get so wrapped up into presents, that we forget to
give You, the present of our love.

Let us see that in this amazing birth our eternal life factor was
now in play.

You came to give us all eternal life and You came to make
reparation for all of the sins that was ever or will be committed.

Let us be set on fire with love for You and the love You showed us.

Let us see You in others and be Christ to them, so that someday
we all may shine in heaven with You.

Amen and Amen.

Thank You Lord, for loving us totally.

One Bread, One Body

This weeks readings and reflections

Sunday AN ADVENTAGEOUS ADVENTURE
http://presentationministries.com/obob/obob.asp?lang=en&d=11/30/2014

"No ear has ever heard, no eye ever seen, any God but You doing such
deeds for those who wait for Him." -Isaiah 64:3

We should take Advent as seriously as a new mother takes her pregnancy.
The Christmas season is not merely a memory, celebration, or blessing,
but a new, extremely important encounter with the incarnate Jesus. St.
Charles Borromeo taught: "This holy season (Advent) teaches us that
Christ's coming was not only for the benefit of His contemporaries; His
power has still to be communicated to us" (from Office of Readings,
Monday of the first week of Advent). Christmas will be an exceptional
grace or an opportunity sadly missed.

Therefore, our Advent preparation for Christmas is very important for
God's kingdom, the Church, the world, the future, our families, and
ourselves. "Our hearts should be as much prepared for this coming of
Christ (Christmas) as if He were still to come into this world" (St.
Charles Borromeo). Moreover, if we are not prepared for Christ's unique
Christmas coming this year, we are not prepared for His coming at the
end of the world.

Consequently, "be constantly on the watch! Stay awake! You do not know
when the appointed time will come" (Mk 13:33). "Wait for the revelation
of our Lord Jesus Christ" (1 Cor 1:7). Make this the best Advent ever,
preparing for Christ's greatest Christmas coming of your life.

Prayer: Father, make this Advent more than we can ever ask for or
imagine (Eph 3:20).

Promise: "Would that You might meet us doing right, that we were mindful
of You in our ways!" -Is 64:4

Praise: Praise You, risen Jesus, Emmanuel, "God with us!" You became
flesh and dwelt among us. Praise You for letting us see Your glory
(Jn 1:14).

Monday "FEED MY SHEEP" (Jn 21:17)
http://presentationministries.com/obob/obob.asp?lang=en&d=12/1/2014

"In days to come, the mountain of the Lord's house shall be established
as the highest mountain and raised above the hills. All nations shall
stream toward it; many peoples shall come and say: 'Come, let us climb
the Lord's mountain, to the house of the God of Jacob, that He may
instruct us in His ways, and we may walk in His paths.' " -Isaiah 2:2-3

Tuesday GOD MAKES ALL THINGS NEW
http://presentationministries.com/obob/obob.asp?lang=en&d=12/2/2014

"Then the wolf shall be a guest of the lamb, and the leopard shall lie
down with the kid; the calf and the young lion shall browse together,
with a little child to guide them. The cow and the bear shall be
neighbors, together their young shall rest; the lion shall eat hay like
the ox. The baby shall play by the cobra's den, and the child lay his
hand on the adder's lair. There shall be no harm or ruin on all My holy
mountain; for the earth shall be filled with the knowledge of the Lord."
-Isaiah 11:6-9

Pope Francis, Shepherd of Truth

Notable quotations from Pope Francis and official teachings of the Roman Catholic Church

THE ELDERLY

THROW AWAY CULTURE

Children are thrown away, young people are thrown away, because they
have no work, and the elderly are thrown away with the pretence of
maintaining a "balanced" economy, which has at its center not the
human person but money. We are all called to oppose this poisonous,
throw away culture!

BUILD A BETTER SOCIETY

We Christians, together with all people of good will, are called to
patiently build a more diverse, more welcoming, more humane, more
inclusive society that does not need to discard those who are weak in
body and mind. On the contrary we need a society which measures its
success on how the weak are cared for.

"NO FUTURE"

As Christians and as citizens, we are called to envision, with
imagination and wisdom, ways of facing this challenge. A people who
does not take care of grandparents, who does not treat them well has
no future!

NO DEAD END

"The throne of God and of the Lamb shall be there, and His servants shall serve Him faithfully. They shall see Him face to face." -Revelation 22:3-4

On this last day of the Church's year, in this new millennium, Jesus says, as quoted in the last verses of the Bible: "Remember, I am coming soon!" (Rv 22:7) After Jesus' final coming, those who have been faithful slaves of Jesus will go to heaven and see the Lord face to face (Rv 22:4). "Never again shall they know hunger or thirst, nor shall the sun or its heat beat down on them, for the Lamb on the throne will shepherd them. He will lead them to springs of life-giving water, and God will wipe every tear from their eyes" (Rv 7:16-17). "The night shall be no more. They will need no light from lamps or the sun, for the Lord God shall give them light, and they shall reign forever" (Rv 22:5).
"These words are trustworthy and true" (Rv 22:6). "So be on the watch. Pray constantly for the strength to escape whatever is in prospect, and to stand secure before the Son of Man" (Lk 21:36).
"Maranatha!" Come, Lord Jesus!

Prayer: Father, may I go to be with You in heaven forever. May I take with me as many people as possible.

Promise: "Happy the man who heeds the prophetic message of this book!" -Rv 22:7

Praise: After her car was totalled, Anne was more aware of the closeness of Jesus.

PASSED AWAY - One Bread, One Body, 11/28/2014

PASSED AWAY

"My words will not pass." -Luke 21:33

To describe death, we say: "He passed away." "The heavens and earth will pass away" (Lk 21:33; Rv 21:1). "Created things will pass away" (Heb 12:27). "The world with its seductions is passing away" (1 Jn 2:17). "The world as we know it is passing away" (1 Cor 7:31). Almost everything is passing away.
All this passing away is a terrible problem for all human beings, for the Lord "has put the timeless" into our heart (Eccl 3:11). Our heart for the timeless is threatened and disturbed by all this passing away.
This interior conflict is resolved by the few things that don't pass away. God doesn't pass away, and His Word and kingdom don't pass away (Heb 12:28). Even we don't pass away. Although our bodies temporarily pass away, they will be raised up on the last day, and our spirits at death go to heaven, purgatory, or hell. So they don't experience even a temporary passing. Whenever you hear the term "passed away," smile inside, for God, His Word, His kingdom, and you will never pass away. Alleluia! Praise Jesus, the Resurrection and the Life! (Jn 11:25)

Prayer: Jesus, thank You for everlasting life.

Promise: "Then I saw new heavens and a new earth." -Rv 21:1

Praise: Though her friends and family have died, Sarah looks forward to each day - and the last day.

THE FEAST OF FEASTS - One Bread, One Body, 11/27/2014

THE FEAST OF FEASTS

"The angel then said to me: 'Write this down: Happy are they who have been invited to the wedding feast of the Lamb.' " -Revelation 19:9

In the USA, today is Thanksgiving Day. Many of us will be enjoying the traditional Thanksgiving feast with our families. We hope that this feast will prefigure the ultimate feast, "the wedding feast of the Lamb" in heaven.
To accept the Lord's invitation to His wedding feast, we must make a covenant of love with Him, completely give our lives to the Lord, and have a relationship with Him which transcends marriage.
This wedding feast is the feast of Jesus, called the Lamb. To come to the wedding feast, we need the weakness of the slain Lamb of God. We must have the weakness of the cross (see 2 Cor 13:4) by which God's power is brought to perfection (2 Cor 12:9).
Furthermore, all those at the heavenly wedding feast "have survived the great period of trial; they have washed their robes and made them white in the blood of the Lamb" (Rv 7:14). At the everlasting, ultimate wedding feast, all present have a purified, crucified, covenant-love for the Lamb of God.
At Holy Communion, the priest proclaims: "Behold the Lamb of God, behold Him Who takes away the sins of the world. Blessed are those called to the supper of the Lamb." Live a life of love and daily Communion. Accept the invitation to the heavenly wedding feast of the Lamb.

Prayer: Father, thank You for inviting me to celebrate with You forever in heaven. I accept Your invitation.

Promise: "When these things begin to happen, stand erect and hold your heads high, for your deliverance is near at hand." -Lk 21:28

Praise: Clara's home-based community gets together several times monthly for fellowship, thanksgiving, and faith-building.

THANKSGIVING ALL TOGETHER AND FOREVER - One Bread, One Body, 11/26/2014

Revelation 15:1-4, Psalm 98:1-3, 7-9, Luke 21:12-19

THANKSGIVING ALL TOGETHER AND FOREVER

"You will be delivered up even by your parents, brothers, relatives and friends, and some of you will be put to death." -Luke 21:16

Many of you in the USA will be spending Thanksgiving with your families and relatives. As you visit with the family, pray that none of them will betray you and turn you over to the police to be executed for your faith in Jesus. Pray also that you yourself will not turn them in to the authorities when persecution rages against the disciples of Jesus.
If we and our families are committed 100% to the Lord, we will not persecute each other. Instead, we will support one another in the coming times of persecution. If our families pray together this Thanksgiving (not just before meal prayers), we may well stay together and resist the pressures to betray our Christian brothers and sisters.
Then we will have the greatest family reunion ever and forever. Each member of our families will have won the victory over the evil one and His forces (see Rv 15:2). Each member of our families will be standing on "something like a sea of glass mingled with fire" (Rv 15:2). Our whole family will be worshipping God and singing: "Mighty and wonderful are Your works, Lord God Almighty! Righteous and true are Your ways, O King of the nations!" (Rv 15:3)
Tomorrow, pray with your family for a happy Thanksgiving all together and forever.

Prayer: Father, make my family holy and happy together forever.

Promise: "Since You alone are holy, all nations shall come and worship in Your presence. Your mighty deeds are clearly seen." -Rv 15:4

Praise: When in session, several Christian legislators gather for a weekly prayer meeting in seeking God's wisdom concerning the current debated issues.

THE WORST FEARS ARE YET TO COME

"...in the sky fearful omens and great signs." -Luke 21:11

Are you afraid of anything? I hope not because the worst is yet to come. We will "hear of wars and insurrections" (Lk 21:9) even more so than we do today. "Nation will rise against nation and kingdom against kingdom. There will be great earthquakes, plagues, and famines in various places - and in the sky fearful omens and great signs" (Lk 21:10-11). "Men will die of fright in anticipation of what is coming upon the earth" (Lk 21:26).
How can we live fearlessly, die fearlessly, and even face the end of the world fearlessly? We conquer fear by love. "Love has no room for fear" (1 Jn 4:18). "Perfect love" is not necessarily sinlessness but complete commitment. If we love the Lord with all our hearts, all our souls, all our minds, and all our strength (Lk 10:27), we will be so filled with love that our love will crowd out all fears.
Because of the graces lavished upon all who receive the Holy Spirit (Rm 5:5; Ti 3:6), may love reign supreme and fear be homeless forever.

Prayer: Father, by Your grace I will walk in faith (see 2 Cor 5:7) and not in fear.

Promise: "So the One sitting on the cloud wielded His sickle over all the earth and reaped the earth's harvest." -Rv 14:16

Praise: Wise beyond her young years, St. Catherine, patroness of Christian philosophers, was blessed with a martyr's death.

ALL FOR THE ONE - One Bread, One Body, 11/24/2014

Monday, November 24, 2014, St. Andrew Dung-Lac, & the Vietnamese Martyrs

Revelation 14:1-5, Psalm 24:1-6, Luke 21:1-4

ALL FOR THE ONE

"She from her want has given what she could not afford." -Luke 21:4

There's an old joke about a man who leaves Church complaining to his son about the lousy music, the pastor's poor homily, the stone-faced parishioners, and all the other things he dislikes about his Church. At that point, the son pipes up and says: "Gosh, Dad, I thought it was a good show for a quarter!"
One who is stingy and miserly with God "brings ruin on himself" (Sir 14:9). He or she is the real loser, not the Lord, Who has everything. In one sense, we get from our relationship with the Lord what we put into it (2 Cor 9:6).
Jesus, however, is especially interested in "all-giving." He declares: "None of you can be My disciple if he does not renounce all his possessions" (Lk 14:33). We can't give all until we have given up all. We don't just give our possessions; we give our needs, our "wants," our desires. The poor widow gave from her want (Lk 21:4). What is your "want"? Do you want wealth, financial freedom, a new car, sexual fulfillment, popularity, or vacations? Renounce these and give them all up to Jesus.
At this level of "all-giving," we have given what we "could not afford" (Lk 21:4): our money, energy, hopes, means of support, lifestyle. When we give all, we are then empty; we "have no more" left (Jn 2:3). Jesus then fills us with a miraculous superabundance of His new life (see Jn 2:5ff) which comes only when we've emptied ourselves (see Phil 2:7). When we give it all to Jesus, He gives it all to the Father, Who fills us with new life, so through Him we "may be all in all" (1 Cor 15:28).

Prayer: Father, use me according to Your will. I am all Yours.

Promise: "They are pure and follow the Lamb wherever He goes." -Rv 14:4

Praise: St. Andrew Dung-Lac, a Vietnamese priest, was beheaded in 1839 for his faith in Jesus. He was canonized in 1988.

One Bread, One Body

This weeks readings and reflections

Sunday AT THE KING'S FEET
http://presentationministries.com/obob/obob.asp?lang=en&d=11/23/2014

"Christ must reign until God has put all enemies under His feet."
-1 Corinthians 15:25

The Old Testament describes God's plan as making His enemies His
footstool (Ps 110:1). Reigning kings in Old Testament days placed
their feet on the prone bodies of their enemies as a sign of bringing
them to submission. God's vanquished enemies would likewise be
subject to His will (1 Cor 15:27-28).

In the New Testament, God's enemies are described as humbled beneath
Jesus' feet (Mt 22:44). Jesus, God Himself, died on His cross for all
His enemies (Rm 5:8). He reigns on His cross as crucified King
(Jn 19:19).

We all were enemies of Christ the King as we lived in sin (Rm 5:10).
Then we came to know Jesus as Savior, Lord, God, and King, and we
repented. We came to the foot of His cross and were shocked speechless
when we realized how much Jesus, King of the universe, suffered out of
love for us (Is 52:15). We humbled ourselves at His crucified feet
(Mt 22:44), and we fell at His feet to worship, thank, and praise Him
(Lk 17:16).

King Jesus washed our feet; now we "must wash each other's feet"
(Jn 13:14). We wash King Jesus' feet by feeding the hungry, welcoming
strangers, visiting prisoners, and comforting the ill (Mt 25:35ff).

Have you subjected everything to King Jesus? Give Him your all. Place
"all things under His feet" (1 Cor 15:27).

Prayer: Jesus, "King of kings" (Rv 19:16), I rejoice to be Your subject.
To You "be honor and everlasting rule!" (1 Tm 6:16)

Promise: "Thus says the Lord God: I Myself will look after and tend My
sheep." -Ez 34:11

Praise: Praise Jesus, the King of Glory, the risen King of kings and
Lord of lords! Alleluia!

Notable quotations from Pope Francis and official teachings of the Roman Catholic Church

THE ELDERLY

"SO GOOD"

It is so good to go visit an elderly person! Look at our children:
sometimes we see them listless and sad; they go visit an elderly person
and become joyful!

"A BIG BROTHER OR SISTER"

Homes for the elderly should be the "lungs" of humanity in a town, a
neighborhood or a parish. They should be the "sanctuaries" of humanity
where one who is old and weak is cared for and protected like a big
brother or sister.

FACING REALITY

However, the reality is that elderly people are being abandoned: the
elderly are so often discarded with an attitude of abandonment, which
is actually real and hidden euthanasia! It is the result of a throw
away culture which is so harmful to our world.

Reigning kings in Old Testament days placed their feet on the prone bodies of their enemies as a sign of bringing them to submission. LIFE AFTER DEATH - One Bread, One Body, 11/22/2014

Revelation 11:4-12, Psalm 144:1-2, 9-10, Luke 20:27-40

LIFE AFTER DEATH

"The children of this age marry and are given in marriage, but those judged worthy of a place in the age to come and of resurrection from the dead do not." -Luke 20:34-35

During the persecution of the Christians by the Emperor Domitian, the Book of Revelation was written to encourage them to remain faithful to Jesus. Many had lost their lives and were among the first martyrs of Christianity.
St. John depicts the two witnesses as Moses (Ex 7:17-20; Rv 11:6) and Elijah (1 Kgs 18:36-40; Jas 5:17; Rv 11:6), the same individuals who appeared at the Transfiguration with Jesus (Mk 9:4). He makes the point of showing that they have resurrected from the dead and gone to heaven. The reference to three-and-one-half days (Rv 11:11) refers to the time of tribulation similar to the three-and-one-quarter years during which the Maccabees had revolted against Antiochus Epiphanes IV in 165 B.C. The witnesses triumphed over their enemies and went to heaven (Rv 11:12).
The Pharisees believed in the resurrection of the body whereas the Sadducees did not (Lk 20:27). Today we hear of many bizarre theories such as reincarnation which deny the resurrection of the body and in a certain sense the immortality of the soul. The Scriptures are very clear about life after death. The continuance of life is that which gives meaning to human mortality. The Eucharist is already a foretaste of the continuance of life. The Eucharist is a pledge of our future glory. Believe in the resurrection. Live in that hope so as to be strong as you follow Jesus.

Prayer: "Blessed be the Lord, my Rock, who trains my hands for battle, my fingers for war" (Ps 144:1).

Promise: "God is not the God of the dead but of the living. All are alive for Him." -Lk 20:38

Praise: St. Cecilia, her husband, and his brother all were crowned as martyrs and praise Jesus forever in eternal joy.

PROPHECY - One Bread, One Body, 11/21/2014

Friday, November 21, 2014, Presentation of Mary

Revelation 10:8-11, Psalm 119:14, 24, 72, 103, 111, 131, Luke 19:45-48
Link to Readings --> http://www.usccb.org/bible/readings/112114.cfm

PROPHECY

"You must prophesy again for many peoples and nations, languages and kings." -Revelation 10:11

A prophet is one who speaks out in God's name for his present generation. Prophecy is not about the future, but about the present. A prophet calls people to repent and to come back to Almighty God.
St. John is invested with his role as a prophet in our reading from Revelation. Up until this point he has been an observer, but following our passage he becomes active and measures the temple (Rv 11:1). The little scroll (Rv 10:9) is the open message of the New Testament. Anyone who speaks out in the Lord's name must digest that biblical scroll so that it becomes a part of him. The sweetness of the message leaves an aftertaste so that one can better deal with the bitterness that must necessarily come (Rv 10:10).
Anyone who thoroughly digests the message of Jesus Christ is bound to be misunderstood and persecuted. Jesus gave a fuller understanding to the Old Testament message (Lk 19:46). For His pains the leaders of the people were trying to put Him to death (Lk 19:47).
At Baptism, every Christian is called to be a prophet (Catechism, 1546), a champion of truth to his or her own generation. Are you a prophet? Are you willing to accept the bitterness that will necessarily come? Say "yes" by accepting your baptismal commitment seriously.

Prayer: Lord, let my response to Your call always be "yes, yes" so that I might better bring others to You.

Promise: "The law of Your mouth is to me more precious than thousands of gold and silver pieces." -Ps 119:72

Praise: Our Lady of Presentation was pure from her conception and was presented to God in the temple as a living sacrifice.

THE "LION-KING" - One Bread, One Body, 11/20/2014

Revelation 5:1-10, Psalm 149:1-6, 9, Luke 19:41-44

THE "LION-KING"

"The Lion of the tribe of Judah..." -Revelation 5:5

In his heavenly vision, John hears the elder announce the entry of "the Lion of the tribe of Judah" (Rv 5:5), Who has triumphed. When John looks for the Lion, he instead sees "a Lamb standing, a Lamb That had been slain" (Rv 5:6).
Jesus has the strength of a Lion; He "roars from on high" (Jer 25:30; see also Am 3:8; Hos 11:10). Yet His strength is also the strength of love, displayed by the meekness of the Lamb. The Lamb is a sacrificial Victim, Who was slain, and He triumphs through His outpoured blood more than through His roaring.
The chosen people expected the Messiah to be a "lion-king" (see Gn 49:9-10). This lion-Messiah would be a warrior, preying on his enemies and subduing them (Gn 49:9). Yet even prophetic revelation couldn't prepare the Israelites to understand a Messiah Who was "like a lamb led to the slaughter" (Is 53:7).
Isaiah prophesied that the lion and the lamb would be linked together (Is 11:6-7). In the person of Jesus, the Lion and the Lamb, awesome power and sacrificial love are united. In Jesus, the Lion and the King, there is the union of invincible strength and royal dignity.
In three days, we celebrate the great feast of Christ the King. As we worship our King, keep in mind the heavenly vision of the Lion of Judah (Rv 5:5), Who is both the King of kings and the Lamb of God. "To Him be glory forever" (Rm 11:36).

Prayer: Jesus, may I always fall down and worship You (Rv 5:8).

Promise: "The Lord loves His people, and He adorns the lowly with victory." -Ps 149:4

Praise: Through daily reception of the Eucharist, Becca began to see holy changes in her own behavior.

GETTING CROWNED? - One Bread, One Body, 11/19/2014

Wednesday, November 19, 2014

Revelation 4:1-11, Psalm 150:1-6, Luke 19:11-28
Link to Readings --> http://www.usccb.org/bible/readings/111914.cfm

GETTING CROWNED?

"They throw down their crowns before the throne." -Revelation 4:10

We pray for God's will to be done on earth as in heaven (Mt 6:10). In heaven, those who wear "a merited crown" (2 Tm 4:8) don't keep their crowns very long. The glory they've received, symbolized by their crowns, is immediately passed on to Jesus. Continually the elders in heaven cast their crowns at the feet of Jesus as an act of loving worship (Rv 4:10).
This happens over and over again, as implied by the word "whenever" (Rv 4:9). A perpetual cycle is at work in heaven that is to be repeated on earth as it is in heaven. It seems as soon as the elders give their crowns to Jesus, another crown is placed on their heads! The elders are continually exalted in heaven, but they won't keep any glory for themselves. They give all the glory right back to Jesus.
We disciples on earth are constantly being crowned also. We receive crowns of life (Jas 1:12; Rv 2:10), glory (1 Pt 5:4), everlasting joy (Is 35:10), and many other crowns (Prv 4:9; 12:4; 14:18; Wis 4:9; 5:16; Sir 1:9). We also can cast our crowns at the feet of Jesus. When crowned with glory, we don't pause to admire it. In loving worship, we immediately pass the glory on to Jesus.
By the way, exactly halfway through the writing of this teaching, the church bells of the Catholic Church on the next block began ringing the melody to the hymn "Crown Him With Many Crowns." It seems that the Holy Spirit is underlining this message! Humble yourselves; be exalted (Mt 23:12); glorify Jesus!

Prayer: Jesus, may it be more natural for me to glorify You than it is for me to breathe.

Promise: "Day and night, without pause, they sing: 'Holy, holy, holy, is the Lord God Almighty.' " -Rv 4:8

Praise: Michael responded to the death of his father by making a commitment to attend Mass every day.

THE KNOCK OF LOVE - One Bread, One Body, 11/18/2014

Tuesday, November 18, 2014, Dedication of the Basilica, of Sts. Peter & Paul, St. Rose Philippine Duchesne

Revelation 3:1-6, 14-22, Psalm 15:2-5, Luke 19:1-10
Link to Readings --> http://www.usccb.org/bible/readings/111814.cfm

THE KNOCK OF LOVE

"Here I stand, knocking at the door." -Revelation 3:20

Jesus is knocking on the door of your lives. Why not open the door? He wants to have supper with us (Rv 3:20). That doesn't sound so bad. However, supper with Jesus isn't all there is to Jesus entering our lives. Jesus comes to stay (see Lk 19:5), and He comes to be the Lord of every detail of our lives. When we open the door to Jesus, we are in effect saying: "It is no longer I that live but Christ that lives in me" (Gal 2:20, our transl.). If we open the door to Jesus, we must:
* deny our very selves, take up the cross each day, and follow Him (Lk 9:23),
* repent of being lukewarm in our love for Jesus (Rv 3:16),
* be hot for Jesus (Rv 3:15),
* give some, half (see Lk 19:8), or all of our belongings to the poor (Mt 19:21),
* make restitution to those we have defrauded (Lk 19:8),
* be a witness for Jesus (see Acts 1:8),
* suffer for and with Jesus (see Phil 1:29), and
* live and die for Jesus (see 2 Tm 2:11).

Why would we open the door to Jesus? We open ourselves to Him because He loves us so much that He died for us and because we love Him with all our hearts.

Prayer: Jesus, compelled by love, I will no longer live for myself but for You (2 Cor 5:14-15).

Promise: "Today salvation has come to this house, for this is what it means to be a son of Abraham. The Son of Man has come to search out and save what was lost." -Lk 19:9-10

Praise: "I [Paul] had been entrusted with the gospel for the uncircumcised, just as Peter was for the circumcised" (Gal 2:7).

(Take another look at the topic of "love." Order our tape on "Love" on audio AV 58-1 or video V-58.)

"THE NECESSITY OF PRAYING ALWAYS" - One Bread, One Body, 11/17/2014

"THE NECESSITY OF PRAYING ALWAYS"

"Jesus asked him, 'What do you want Me to do for you?' " -Luke 18:40-41

Jesus spoke of "the necessity of praying always and not losing heart" (Lk 18:1). We are to never stop praying (1 Thes 5:17). Many centuries ago, a Christian went on pilgrimage and asked holy person after holy person how it could be possible to pray always. The answer he finally received was what is called the "Jesus prayer." This prayer is a combination of Luke 18:39 and Luke 18:13. The Jesus prayer is: "Lord Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on me, a sinner." The prayer is sometimes shortened to "Lord Jesus, mercy" or even to only the name "Jesus." The Christian pilgrim was taught to pray this many times, to pray it almost with every breath to the point that he was thinking of Jesus even when he was not praying it. Thus, he was obeying the Lord's command to pray always.
Be like the Christian pilgrim. Try to learn to pray always. Keep trying no matter how long it takes. Even if others discourage you, cry "out all the more, 'Son of David, have pity on me!' " (Lk 18:39) Because there is the necessity to pray always, there is the necessity to learn to pray always. The Holy Spirit will teach you (Jn 14:26). Pray in the Spirit (see Jude 20). Pray always.

Prayer: Father, by the Holy Spirit, may I not only have a life of prayer but a life of praying always.

Promise: "Happy is the man who reads this prophetic message, and happy are those who hear it and heed what is written in it, for the appointed time is near!" -Rv 1:3

Praise: St. Elizabeth was canonized just four years after her death, so much did she imitate Christ in life.

(You may wish to order our booklet, Life-Changing Prayers from the Bible", as an aid to praying or our tape "How to Pray the Bible "on audio AV82-3 or video V-82.)

PM eNewsletter 33rd Sunday in ordinary time.

November 16th 33rd Sunday in ordinary time

This week, Oh! Christ, Your church celebrates the "Presentation
of Mary".

Let us see in this feast that Your plan of our redemption was
unfolding in a very simple yet concise way.

Mary, our mother, the "new ark of the covenant" was brought to
God so as to be sealed in His love.

Mary, our mother, was always and still is, full of grace, and her
intercession is very powerful, for all of us.

We have a loving, caring mother who loves us and prays for us all.

Jesus, give us the grace to realize Your love, and the means
we can use to get the help we need to reach Your kingdom in
heaven, some day, thank You Jesus.

Amen and Amen.

Thank You Lord, for loving us totally.

One Bread, One Body

This weeks readings and reflections

Sunday NOT GOOD, NOT BETTER, BUT BEST
http://presentationministries.com/obob/obob.asp?lang=en&d=11/16/2014

"Well done! You are an industrious and reliable servant. Since you
were dependable in a small matter I will put you in charge of larger
affairs. Come, share your master's joy!" -Matthew 25:21

The Lord doesn't call us to do good. "No one is good but God alone"
(Mk 10:18). He doesn't call us to do better - better than others or
even better than before. The Lord doesn't like to compare. He simply
wants us to do our best. Our best may not be better. It may not even
be that good. Nonetheless, the Lord is pleased with our best. It is
a sacrifice acceptable to Him.

We all can do our best any time we want to. Our best doesn't require
ability, skill, training, or even maturity. A little boy can do his
best. A feeble elderly man can do his best. We can always do our best.
It's just a matter of trying our best. The Lord is not concerned with
how many talents we start with (Mt 25:15). He just wants us to do our
best with what we've got. Ten talents are pleasing to Him if they're
our best. A thousand talents are displeasing if they're not our best.

So "whatever you do, work at it with your whole being. Do it for the
Lord rather than for men" (Col 3:23). To do our best, we must give our
all. This is the first commandment: "You shall love the Lord your God
with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your strength, and
with all your mind" (Lk 10:27).

Prayer: Father, may I not have good days but best days for Your glory.

Promise: "We belong neither to darkness nor to night; therefore let
us not be asleep like the rest, but awake and sober!" -1 Thes 5:5-6

Praise: Praise the risen Jesus, teaching us to pray (Lk 11:2) and
baptizing us in the Spirit (Mk 1:8).

Notable quotations from Pope Francis and official teachings of the Roman Catholic Church

THE ELDERLY

"A TIME OF GRACE"

In a special way, old age is a time of grace, in which the Lord renews
His call to us; He calls us to safeguard and transmit the faith, He calls
us to pray, especially to intercede; He calls us to be close to those in
need .... The elderly, grandparents have the ability to understand the
most difficult of situations: a great ability! And when they pray for
these situations, their prayer is strong; it is powerful!

"A GREAT RESPONSIBILITY"

Grandparents, who have received the blessing to see their children's
children (cf. Ps 128:6), are entrusted with a great responsibility: to
transmit their life experience, their family history, the history of a
community, of a people; to share wisdom with simplicity, and the faith
itself - the most precious heritage!

HAPPINESS IS ...

Happy is the family who have grandparents close by! A grandfather is a
father twice over and a grandmother is a mother twice over.
