ONLY THE GUILTY ARE SAVED

"There is no salvation in anyone else, for there is no other name in the whole world given to men by which we are to be saved." -Acts 4:12

Jesus, by His death and resurrection, has saved us (see Ti 3:5). To accept the grace of salvation, we must believe in Jesus (Eph 2:8). We must also admit our need to be saved. We all have sinned (Rm 3:23), and we are unable to atone for even one of our sins, because the effects of any sin are very serious and destructive. Therefore, to admit our need for salvation, we must begin to realize the enormity of our sins and admit our guilt. If we suppress guilt, deny it, or become so inhuman as to be incapable of guilt, we will never accept Jesus as our Savior, because we have not accepted the need for salvation.

Therefore, Peter, at and after the first Christian Pentecost, preached a message of guilt along with the message of salvation. He confronted the religious leaders: "You crucified" Jesus (Acts 4:10). "You the builders" rejected the Cornerstone (Acts 4:11); "You even made use of pagans to crucify and kill Him" (Acts 2:23). "You handed over and disowned" Jesus "in Pilate's presence when Pilate was ready to release Him. You disowned the Holy and Just One and preferred instead to be granted the release of a murderer. You put to death the Author of life" (Acts 3:13-15).

Go on a short guilt trip. Admit your sinful part in Jesus' crucifixion and death. The destination of your guilt trip is repentance, salvation, and new life in the risen Christ.

Prayer: Father, make me healthy enough to feel guilty, and give me faith to be saved.

Promise: "So they made a cast, and took so many fish they could not haul the net in." -Jn 21:6

Praise: He is risen as He said (see Mt 28:6). Alleluia to the King of Kings!

THE PROPHET PROPHESIED - One Bread, One Body, 3/31/2016

Thursday, March 31, 2016, Easter Week

Acts 3:11-26, Psalm 8:2, 5-9, Luke 24:35-48
Link to Readings --> http://www.usccb.org/bible/readings/033116.cfm

THE PROPHET PROPHESIED

"The Lord God will raise up for you a Prophet like me from among your own kinsmen: you shall listen to Him in everything He says to you. Anyone who does not listen to that Prophet shall be ruthlessly cut off from the people." -Acts 3:22-23

In the early Church, many believed in the risen Christ because of the prophetic power of Jesus and His followers. Jesus was the Prophet prophesied by Moses (Acts 3:22; Dt 18:15ff). The words of the risen Christ and His witnesses "were as a flaming furnace" (Sir 48:1). Their words were like fire in their bones (Jer 23:29; 20:9), burning the hearts of those who heard them (Lk 24:32).

Because so many came to have faith in the risen Christ through prophecy, the Church believed she was founded on the prophets (Eph 2:20). On the Church's birthday, another prophecy about prophecy came true. Sons, daughters, and even servants and handmaids received the gift of prophecy (Acts 2:17-18; Jl 3:1ff). Thus, the Church commands us in the Scriptures to be zealous for the spiritual things, above all the gift of prophecy (1 Cor 14:1).

This Easter season, receive God's prophetic word. Pray to receive a prophetic word in the homilies at Mass. Read the Scriptures daily. Read what the Pope is preaching, teaching, and prophesying. Meet Jesus, the Prophet, Who will introduce you to Jesus risen.

Prayer: Father, send the Spirit so that Your Word will burn in my heart (see Lk 24:32).

Promise: "All the prophets who have spoken, from Samuel onward, have announced the events of these days. You are the children of those prophets." -Acts 3:24-25

Praise: Alleluia! Jesus is risen! "This is the day the Lord has made; let us be glad and rejoice in it" (Ps 118:24). Alleluia forever!

MOVING EXPERIENCES - One Bread, One Body, 3/30/2016

Wednesday, March 30, 2016, Easter Week

Acts 3:1-10, Psalm 105:1-4, 6-9, Luke 24:13-35
Link to Readings --> http://www.usccb.org/bible/readings/033016.cfm

MOVING EXPERIENCES

"The people saw him moving and giving praise to God." -Acts 3:9

The Lord told the prophet Ezekiel to wade through fields of dry bones (Ez 37:1ff). These bones represented the state of the chosen people, Israel. Then, the Lord told Ezekiel to prophesy over the bones. The bones began to rattle. This symbolized the Israelite nation beginning to rise from the dead. When something moves that can't move, it may be a sign of the Resurrection.

Peter and John healed a forty-year-old man who had been paralyzed from birth (Acts 3:7). When this man who couldn't move moved, ran, and jumped, it was a sign of the Resurrection.

The two disciples on the road to Emmaus were mentally and spiritually paralyzed. Jesus said they had "little sense" and were slow to believe (Lk 24:25), but soon afterward their hearts burned and their eyes were opened (Lk 24:32, 31). This interior movement was a sign and experience of the Resurrection.

Which bones need to rattle in your life? In what ways are you paralyzed? What doesn't move in your life? When you make a move to speak up for Jesus for the first time on your job, start praying with your wife as never before, go to Confession for the first time in a long time, move away from staring at the TV, go to Mass during the week, read the Bible daily, etc., these movements are signs of Jesus' Resurrection. Get a move on.

Prayer: Father, move me.

Promise: "Then they recounted what had happened on the road and how they had come to know Him in the breaking of bread." -Lk 24:35

Praise: Alleluia! Praise Jesus, risen Light, Hope, Lord, and God!

"OH BROTHER, WHERE ART THOU?" - One Bread, One Body, 3/29/2016

Tuesday, March 29, 2016, Easter Week

Acts 2:36-41, Psalm 33:4-5, 18-20, 22, John 20:11-18
Link to Readings --> http://www.usccb.org/bible/readings/032916.cfm

"OH BROTHER, WHERE ART THOU?"

"Go to My brothers…" -John 20:17

The above verse is the first time in the Gospels that Jesus specifically calls His apostles "brothers." Jesus' Father can now become the Father of the apostles and of us because He will now be able to give them the Holy Spirit. The Spirit comes from the Father. Thus Jesus, Who ascends to His Father, knows that His disciples can be re-born as God's children (see Jn 3:5), and therefore, literally be His brothers and sisters, children of the same Father. The apostles had done the will of God even through the cross. They were trying their best to remain together as His community. And so Jesus rewards them by telling them that His Father and God was their Father and God. What a privilege to be able to call the God Who created the universe our Father!

When we carry our crosses and walk directly through Calvary, Jesus has risen blessings in store for us that make us consider the sufferings we must endure as nothing (Rm 8:18). In Lent 2014, Pope Francis spoke of Christians who choose to live a "Lent without Easter" existence. He meant that they focus on various aspects of the Christian life, such as the cross, suffering, renunciation, but neglect to rejoice and be glad in the risen life Jesus came to inaugurate. The Pope said that these Christians didn't let the joy of the risen Jesus transform their hearts or smiles. They didn't receive their reward in full (see 2 Jn 8).

Be Jesus' brother or sister in its fullest meaning. Rejoice and be glad in the risen Savior. Jesus is risen. Alleluia!

Prayer: "I have seen the Lord!" (Jn 20:18)

Promise: "You will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit." -Acts 2:38

Praise: Praise You, risen Lord Jesus, our Brother. Thank You for preparing our family reunion with the Father.

One Bread, One Body

This weeks readings and reflections

Sunday EASTER BY FAITH, NOT BY SIGHT (See 2 Cor 5:7)
http://presentationministries.com/obob/obob.asp?lang=en&d=3/27/2016

"He is not here; He has been raised up." -Luke 24:6

Jesus is risen! "Death is swallowed up in victory. O death, where is your
victory? O death, where is your sting?" (1 Cor 15:54-55) Praise Jesus, "the
Resurrection and the Life"! (Jn 11:25) A few years ago, I celebrated the
Easter Vigil at an inner-city church about to be closed. After the church's
lights were turned on following the blessing of the new fire and the
lighting of the Easter candle, I was shocked. There were almost as many
people in the small choir as in the rest of the congregation. It broke my
heart to see this parish in ruins - a parish which previously had two
assistant pastors and a school taught by ten nuns. Nevertheless, we
celebrated the Easter Vigil. We celebrated by faith, not by sight
(2 Cor 5:7). Although we looked and felt dead rather than alive in Christ,
we praised God as if the church had been filled.

On this first day of Easter, many of us, like the women at Jesus' tomb, are
"bewildered and trembling" (Mk 16:8). Right now, we don't look risen and
victorious. Our lives are "hidden now with Christ in God" (Col 3:3). However,
the fact is that through Baptism we "have been raised up in company with
Christ" (Col 3:1). Therefore, by faith let us live our Baptisms and be
witnesses for the risen Christ (see Acts 10:41, 42). Alleluia! He is risen!

Prayer: Father, when I renew my baptismal promises, may I make the deepest
act of faith in my life.

Promise: "Through baptism into His death we were buried with Him, so that,
just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, we too
might live a new life." -Rm 6:4

Praise: "He is risen!" Alleluia to the victorious, risen Jesus!

MERCY CAN'T BE STOPPED

There are no walls or distances which can prevent the Father's mercy from

THE TERRIBLE FACE OF LOVE

"He bowed His head, and delivered over His spirit." -John 19:30

A few days before I wrote this, a man was executed by the state of Florida in its electric chair. Florida ordered that a mask be put on, "so marred was his look beyond that of man, and his appearance beyond that of mortals" (Is 52:14). The mask and the skin on his face caught fire. Even some of the most hardened observers hid their faces (see Is 53:3) as they smelled the burning flesh. The condemned man maintained before his electrocution that he was innocent. He probably was not. But what if he was and you were the one guilty of the crime for which he was executed? You would surely hide your face (see Is 53:3) and not watch him die in your place.

Jesus was executed in our place. "The Lord laid upon Him the guilt of us all" (Is 53:6). "It was our infirmities that He bore, our sufferings that He endured" (Is 53:4). "He was pierced for our offenses, crushed for our sins" (Is 53:5). If we realized how great are our sins against the all-holy God Who is Love (1 Jn 4:16) and how great is the salvation Jesus has given us (see Heb 2:3) by dying in our place, we would love Jesus with all our hearts (Lk 10:27), repent completely, worship Him forever, keep thanking Him publicly, and be willing to do anything for Him, even to suffer and die. "Look on Him Whom" we "have pierced" (Jn 19:37).

Our sins are great. His love is perfect and crucified. Look into His face of love.

Prayer: "Jesus, my Lord, my God, my All! How can I love Thee as I ought?"

Promise: "Son though He was, He learned obedience from what He suffered; and when perfected, He became the Source of eternal salvation for all who obey Him." -Heb 5:8-9

Praise: (none)

"HOW BEAUTIFUL...ARE THE FEET..." (Is 52:7) - One Bread, One Body, 3/24/2016

"HOW BEAUTIFUL...ARE THE FEET..." (Is 52:7)

" 'If I do not wash you,' Jesus answered, 'you will have no share in My heritage.' " -John 13:8

Today we begin the Triduum, seventy hours of prayer, followed by the Easter season, fifty days of celebrating the risen Christ. Today, we begin one of the most important times in our lives.

By going to the Mass of the Last Supper tonight, we are deciding to have our feet washed. Even if our feet are not washed at this Mass, we are still deciding by our presence to have our feet washed. We decide to do this because otherwise we "will have no share" in Jesus' heritage (Jn 13:8). The foot-washing means we accept fully our heritage from Jesus. We accept the eucharistic Jesus, eternal life, the cross, the Church, the Sacraments, the Bible, peace, freedom, holiness, discipline, self-denial, and love.

To receive our full Christian heritage, we must center our life on our eucharistic Lord and desire to receive Him daily and deeply in the covenant love of Holy Communion. "The other sacraments, and indeed all ecclesiastical ministries and works of the apostolate, are bound up with the Eucharist and are oriented toward it. For in the blessed Eucharist is contained the whole spiritual good of the Church, namely Christ Himself" (Priests, Vatican II, 5, quoted in Catechism, 1324). Try to go to Mass daily. Make frequent visits to Church to adore Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament. Pray a Holy Hour as often as possible before our eucharistic Lord. Receive your full heritage. After all, Jesus has washed your feet.

Prayer: Father, deepen greatly in the next seventy hours my love for the Body and Blood of Jesus.

Promise: "The Lord Jesus on the night in which He was betrayed took bread, and after He had given thanks, broke it and said, 'This is My body, Which is for you. Do this in remembrance of Me.' " -1 Cor 11:23-24

Praise: "Sweet Sacrament, we Thee adore! Oh, make us love Thee more and more."

"IN THE SIGHT OF MY FOES" (Ps 23:5)

"Distressed at this…" -Matthew 26:22

The apostles were deeply distressed that Jesus' betrayer was seated in their midst at the Last Supper. However, Jesus was not distressed, although hours later in the garden of Gethsemane Jesus "began to experience sorrow and distress" (see Mt 26:37). Yet, in the presence of His betrayer, Jesus was calmly in control of the situation.

Jesus does things to instruct His disciples, and also us. He's trying to teach them, and Judas, how we should respond in the presence of our enemies, and that the appropriate response is mercy. Jesus reaches out to Judas with an offer of friendship in the morsel. Jesus is giving Judas no room to deceive himself in his decision to betray Jesus by giving Judas a final chance to repent.

Jesus, by announcing that His betrayer is at hand, forces Judas to realize that Jesus is still divine, still all-knowing, and still reaching out to Him in mercy. Yet He knows that Judas will refuse His final offer to repent.

How can Jesus be calm in such a distressful situation? Jesus knows the Source of His peace. He can remain calm in the presence of a betrayer who will hand Him over to death because of His firm relationship with His Father.

Likewise, we disciples can be calm "in the sight of [our] foes" (Ps 23:5) if we are united with the Father, Who makes all things work together for the good for those who love Him (Rm 8:28).

Prayer: Jesus, I do love You.

Promise: "The Lord God is my Help, therefore I am not disgraced." -Is 50:7

Praise: Jessica forgave her father, who had been abusive to her, as well as her mother, who had allowed it.

TO BETRAY OR OBEY?

"Lord, who is he?" -John 13:25

Jesus had just announced to His disciples at the Last Supper that one of His twelve apostles would betray Him (Jn 13:21). "The disciples looked at one another, puzzled as to whom He could mean" (Jn 13:22). This is remarkable. These men had been together for three years. Although these men knew each other's strengths and weaknesses thoroughly, they were puzzled as to which of them might be a betrayer.

James and John had asked Jesus earlier to elevate them above the others. The rest became indignant. Jesus often had to remind them to be servants, not rulers.

So, either the apostles had truly learned their servant lessons well, or Judas appeared no different than the other apostles. None of the apostles, when looking at each other (Jn 13:22), said, "Is it Judas?" Rather, they asked Jesus, "Is it I, Lord?" Judas' weaknesses didn't look any different than their own weaknesses. After all, Judas for three years had cast out demons, prophesied, preached, and ministered at their side.

Satan entered Judas because he had laid the groundwork by his sins of stealing and his decision to turn to others rather than to Jesus. During Holy Week, Judas sought to betray rather than obey.

We all have a choice this Holy Week, and Holy Week will bring us to a point of decision. Will we humble ourselves and seek Jesus alone? Or will we think only of ourselves? Will we betray or obey?

Prayer: Jesus, I am capable of betraying You. Keep me always faithful to You.

Promise: "I will make you a light to the nations, that my salvation may reach to the ends of the earth." -Is 49:6

BEYOND PERSONALITIES

"Here is my Servant Whom I uphold, My Chosen One with Whom I am pleased, upon Whom I have put My Spirit." -Isaiah 42:1

Jesus comes to us this Holy Week "not crying out, not shouting, not making His voice heard in the street. A bruised reed He shall not break, and a smoldering wick He shall not quench" (Is 42:2-3). Jesus comes quietly and gently.

Jesus calls us to respond to Him this Holy Week as did Mary of Bethany. He wants us to passionately, boldly, and extravagantly throw ourselves at His feet and anoint Him with the perfume of our love (Jn 12:3).

Jesus comes unassumingly, and we should respond passionately. This is an unusual combination, for those who relate to a quiet Messiah are usually quiet themselves; while the extravagant seldom notice the gentle Jesus.

In this Holy Week, the Lord wants to take us beyond our personalities and backgrounds. By God's grace, we can respond to Jesus as never before. We can transcend our human limitations. The extrovert can be contemplative. The silent type can be effusive in witnessing to Jesus' love. The cerebral can be emotional, while the emotional can be tranquil.

This is Holy Week. It is different than any other week. By God's grace, you can be different. The spectrum of your personality can be stretched. You can express your love to the Lord in new ways. Throw yourself at Jesus' feet.

Prayer: Jesus, give me the discipline and freedom to express my love for You in new ways.

Promise: "The great crowd of Jews discovered He was there and came out, not only because of Jesus but also to see Lazarus, whom He had raised from the dead." -Jn 12:9

Praise: Rose went to Chrism Mass and it changed her Holy Week, Easter, and life.

PM eNewsletter Passion (Palm) Sunday

March 20th Passion (Palm) Sunday

Merciful God, Your love for us goes beyond measure.

It is really, very, very hard for us to truly understand the love that You have
for us.

A love that led You to the cross, so that we might be saved, and have eternal
life.

Jesus, we all caused Your agony, and pain, and yet You forgave us.

Your love cannot be measured.

Jesus, grace us to love all, as You love.

Jesus, grace us to forgive all, as You have forgiven us.

Grant us the desire to come and sit before Your crucifix, and truly spend time
in seeing Your love for us hanging on the cross.

Let us be amazed and humbled, help us to get to the Sacrament of reconciliation,
and so enter into Easter free of the stain of humanity's sins.

Amen and Amen.

Thank You Lord, for loving us totally.

One Bread, One Body

This weeks readings and reflections

Sunday A SINGULAR LOVE
http://presentationministries.com/obob/obob.asp?lang=en&d=3/20/2016

"This is My body to be given for you." -Luke 22:19

For love of you, Jesus gave His "back to those who beat" Him (Is 50:6). For
love of you, Jesus did not shield His face "from buffets and spitting" (Is 50:6).
For love of you, Jesus obediently accepted "even death, death on a cross!"
(Phil 2:8) Jesus suffered and died for love of you!

Almost everyone believes Jesus died on a cross. This is a matter of historical
record. Well over a billion people have said they believe Jesus died on a cross
for love of humanity. Yet how many Christians believe Jesus died on a cross for
love of each one of them individually and personally? Do you believe that when
Jesus was hanging on the cross, He was thinking of you specifically? Do you
think He was saying your name? (see Is 43:1) Do you believe that He had your own
name written on the palms of His nailed hands? (see Is 49:16)

It is hard for us to believe that Jesus was focused on each one of us when He
died on the cross, for we ourselves cannot be conscious specifically of more than
a very few people. But Jesus is not only a human being; He is God. He can and
did die for you specifically. Jesus would have died for you if you were the only
person in the world. He loves you specifically, individually, personally, and
singularly. Love Him in the same way.

Prayer: Father, thank You for giving Your Son to love me singularly (see Jn 3:16).

Promise: "Pray that you may not be subjected to the trial." -Lk 22:46

Praise: All praise and honor to You, Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Be glorified
in the world today and forever.

GOD'S PLANS FOR DAD AND YOU - One Bread, One Body, 3/19/2016

2 Samuel 7:4-5, 12-14, 16, Romans 4:13, 16-18, 22, Psalm 89:2-5, 27, 29, Matthew 1:16, 18-21, 24, or Luke 2:41-51

GOD'S PLANS FOR DAD AND YOU

"Yes, he is our father in the sight of God in Whom he believed." -Romans 4:17

God has a wonderful plan of salvation (see Eph 1:9-10). Abraham was an important part of that plan. "He is father of us all" (Rm 4:16). David also had an important part in God's plan, for from his family came Jesus, the Messiah (2 Sm 7:12ff). We all have special parts in God's plan, and it's important to know our parts (Col 1:9) and those of others.

For example, St. Joseph's part in God's plan was to be the foster-father of Jesus and husband of Mary (Mt 1:20ff). Over the centuries, the Lord has told us more about Joseph's part in God's plan. For instance, Saint André Bessette of Montreal prayed to Joseph and many thousands have received miraculous healing.

Also, Pope Pius XII established the feast of St. Joseph the Worker, on May Day, May 1. This opposed Communism and its manipulative oppression of workers, liberating them. Because of Pope Pius XII's understanding of Joseph's part in God's plan, Communism was shaken and eventually fell.

Finally, many Christians have found out that Joseph is part of God's plan in giving us happy and holy deaths. Knowing this obviously has great significance. Be in God's plan. Ask St. Joseph to pray for you.

Prayer: Father, show me why You gave me St. Joseph to be an important part of my life.

Promise: "It is by the Holy Spirit that she has conceived this Child." -Mt 1:20

Praise: St. Joseph "did as the angel of the Lord had directed him" (Mt 1:24).

A ROCKY RELATIONSHIP - One Bread, One Body, 3/18/2016

Friday, March 18, 2016, St. Cyril of Jerusalem

Jeremiah 20:10-13, Psalm 18:2-7, John 10:31-42
Link to Readings --> http://www.usccb.org/bible/readings/031816.cfm

A ROCKY RELATIONSHIP

"The Jews again reached for rocks to stone Him." -John 10:31

How ironic that the Jews reached out for a rock to throw at Jesus! If they only knew Who was standing before them, they could have reached out for their Rock, Jesus (see 1 Cor 10:4).

These pious Jews were in the Temple area (see Jn 10:23). Presumably they were celebrating the Feast of the Dedication (Jn 10:22), a time of reconsecration and rededication. On this occasion, a faithful Jew would praise God, perhaps addressing Him as "my Rock and my Salvation" (Ps 62:3), my "Rock of refuge" (Ps 18:3).

They sang "soft-rock" praises, but had "hard-rock" hearts (see Ez 36:26). They "scorned their saving Rock" (Dt 32:15). They forgot the Rock Who made them (Dt 32:18) and spoke "haughtily against the Rock" (Ps 75:6), accusing Jesus of blasphemy and condemning Him to death (Jn 10:33).

As we approach Holy Week, let us bring our own rocky hearts before the Lord and ask Him to give us new hearts of love (Ex 36:26). Let us immerse ourselves in God's Word, which shatters our rock-hard hearts (Jer 23:29). Meditate on Jesus' death on the cross, which splits open rock-hard hearts (see Mt 27:52). Build your life on the Rock (Mt 7:24).

Prayer: Father, "my Rock and my Redeemer" (Ps 19:15), pour out Your love in my heart through the Holy Spirit (Rm 5:5). You are "the Rock of my heart and my Portion forever" (Ps 73:26).

Promise: "The Lord is with me, like a mighty Champion." -Jer 20:11

Praise: St. Cyril urged: "Remove all obstacles and stumbling blocks so that you will be able to go straight along the road to eternal life."

(Strengthen your relationship with your Rock by attending our April 15-17 retreat, "The Kingdom of God; The Beatitude Attitude." Visit www.presentationministries.com to register.) (This teaching was submitted by a member of our editorial team.)

THE WORD'S WORD

"A man shall never know death if he keeps My word." -John 8:52

Because Jesus is God, the great I AM (Jn 8:58), His words are "living and effective" (Heb 4:12), and "spirit and life" (Jn 6:63). If we keep Jesus' words, we "shall never see death" (Jn 8:51).

This shows why the teachings of the Church and her Bible are so important. It also indicates the great importance of One Bread, One Body and other books which help us live God's Word. Therefore,
* read, pray, and share God's Word daily,
* love, live, and obey God's Word,
* work and do anything you can to reach as many people as possible as deeply as possible with God's precious life-saving Word,
* persevere in proclaiming God's Word "whether convenient or inconvenient - correcting, reproving, appealing - constantly teaching and never losing patience" (2 Tm 4:2), and
* "pray for us that the word of the Lord may make progress and be hailed by many others, even as it has been by you" (2 Thes 3:1).

Jesus promised: "I solemnly assure you, if a man is true to My word, he shall never see death" (Jn 8:51).

Prayer: Father, give me a hunger for Your Word greater than my hunger for food (see Mt 4:4).

Promise: "You and your descendants after you must keep My covenant throughout the ages." -Gn 17:9

Praise: St. Patrick prayed, studied, struggled to bring the good news to those who had enslaved him. He taught forgiveness to his enemies who would, in turn, be the people God chose to evangelize Europe.

(Jesus' words in the Beatitudes have power and hope. Attend a retreat April 15-17, "The Kingdom of God; The Beatitude Attitude". Call 513-373-2397 or 937-587-5464 for more information or to register.)

"FREE INDEED" (Jn 8:36, JB)

"What do you mean by saying, 'You will be free'?" -John 8:33

This is what Jesus means by saying: "You will be free." When you accept Jesus as your Lord and Savior on His terms:
* You are free to "rejoice with inexpressible joy" (1 Pt 1:8), which "no one can take from you" (Jn 16:22).
* You are free to enter into the throne room of God, drawing near to Him (Heb 12:22-24) with confidence and awe.
* You are free from the fear of death (Heb 2:15). No threat can manipulate you to renounce God (Dn 3:16-18).
* You are free from the captivity and slavery of sin (Jn 8:34ff; Col 2:14-15).
* You are free in the Spirit to worship God with abandon, despite what others think (2 Sm 6:14, 20ff; Jn 12:3-5).
* You are free to proclaim the truth, for Jesus, the Truth (Jn 14:6), has "set you free" (Jn 8:32).
* You are set "free in the open" (Ps 18:20) to evangelize (Acts 2:4ff; Jn 4:28-30).
* You are free from the slavery of trying to please people.

"You have been called to live in freedom - but not a freedom that gives free rein to the flesh. Out of love, place yourselves at one another's service" (Gal 5:13). "It was for liberty that Christ freed us. So stand firm, and do not take on yourselves the yoke of slavery a second time!" (Gal 5:1)

Prayer: Jesus, in my freedom, I freely and lovingly give my life to You. I give You the freedom to use me according to Your will.

Promise: "If you live according to My teaching, you are truly My disciples; then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free." -Jn 8:31-32

Praise: Susan was instantly, miraculously set free from her addiction when others prayed for her.

THE FATHER'S MOUTHPIECE

"I say only what the Father has taught Me." -John 8:28

Jesus only said what the Father taught Him (Jn 8:28). Jesus spent a lot of time being taught by His Father. He arose early to listen to His Father (Mk 1:35), stayed up very late to be with Him (Lk 6:12), and spent forty days in the desert to hear His Father's plans for His public ministry (Mt 4:1ff). Jesus only told us what He heard from His Father (Jn 8:26). In fact, Jesus mentioned that the Father "has commanded Me what to say and how to speak" (Jn 12:49).

As disciples of Jesus Christ, we imitate Him in all that He does. Because Jesus spent much time listening to the Father, so do we. The Father will teach us what to say (Jn 8:28). Rooted in Jesus, we will hear every word God speaks (Jn 8:47). The Father assures us, as He assured Moses: "It is I Who will assist you in speaking and will teach you what you are to say" (Ex 4:12). The Father promises: "I place My words in your mouth" (Jer 1:9).

God often speaks in a quiet voice (1 Kgs 19:12ff). We live in a world where too many voices drown out the voice of God. Turn off or throw out the TV. Turn off the radio, your smartphone, tablet, or computer. Get up early, stay up late, and do whatever it takes to listen attentively to the Father. Live "on every utterance that comes from the mouth of God" (Mt 4:4). Listen to the Father. Speak His words.

Prayer: Father, I will hear what You proclaim (Ps 85:9). Give me "ears open to obedience" (Ps 40:7) and a "well-trained tongue" to speak Your prophetic words (Is 50:4).

Promise: "You will surely die in your sins unless you come to believe that I AM." -Jn 8:24

Praise: Paul visits prisoners and encourages them to accept Jesus and be free.

OH, SUSANNA!

" 'I am completely trapped,' Susanna groaned...'Yet it is better for me to fall into your power without guilt than to sin before the Lord.' " -Daniel 13:22, 23

We need many more Susannas in our culture of death. These Susannas will refuse to compromise with the sinful ways of the world, the flesh, and the devil. They will "live by the Spirit" (Gal 5:25) and defeat the temptations of the devil through the Spirit working within them (Gal 5:17). These Susannas will have an indefatigable hope, which will never leave them disappointed (Rm 5:5). They will trust in the Lord to reward their holiness, even when all seems against them (Dn 13:22ff).

We need many more Daniels in our culture of death. The Holy Spirit will stir up these Daniels (Dn 13:45) to speak out as a lone voice against the well-financed, extremely powerful forces that profit from sexual immorality. These Daniels will be branded as intolerant, prudish, narrow-minded fanatics stretching their crusade too far. God, however, will brand these Daniels as holy and give them an undying hope to keep speaking out even when they can't see any results (Rm 8:24-25).

Would we even have a culture of death if enough Susannas and Daniels had cried out fifty years ago? With John the Baptizer, Susanna, and Daniel, let us be voices crying out in the wasteland of the culture of death: "Make straight the way of the Lord" (see Mt 3:3).

Prayer: Father, give me "a well-trained tongue, that I might know how to speak" (Is 50:4) and the fear of the Lord to speak out.

Promise: "The whole assembly cried aloud, blessing God Who saves those that hope in Him." -Dn 13:60

Praise: Matt and Stephanie continue to be open to the bearing of more children even though they may be outgrowing their house.

PM eNewsletter 5th Sunday of Lent

March 13th, the fifth Sunday of Lent.

Jesus, help us to truly have a change of heart this Lenten season.

Have it change us into what You want us to become.

Jesus, sometimes we become too worldly, in our thoughts and actions,
and this draws us away from You.

We don't mean to, but we let the world stop us from giving You all
the honor and glory that You so truly deserve.

Help us to focus on You, and let all our thoughts start with, what
can I do to please God? will this action give Him glory?

Jesus increase our faith.

Amen and Amen.

Thank You Lord, for loving us totally.

One Bread, One Body

This weeks readings and reflections

Sunday THE VICTIM-VICTOR
http://presentationministries.com/obob/obob.asp?lang=en&d=3/13/2016

"They were posing this question to trap Him, so that they could have something
to accuse Him of." -John 8:6

Jesus saved an adulteress from being executed (Jn 8:1ff). He made sure that
justice was not done. In doing this, He did nothing for the victims of the
adulteress' sin-crime. Jesus seems to have disregarded the broken hearts of the
spouse or spouses cheated on, the disturbed and confused families traumatized
by the adultery, and the moral climate of that society further warped by sin.
Jesus' mercy to the adulteress seems unjust to, and even merciless to, her
victims.

However, shortly afterward, Jesus was in agony the night before His crucifixion.
Here Jesus assured justice and mercy for all victims by deciding to atone for
all sins, heal all broken hearts, restore all families, and transform all human
societies. Jesus, by becoming the ultimate Victim on Calvary, gave justice and
mercy, love and life, to all the victims and victimizers - to all the innocent
victims and guilty ones.

Victims and victimizers, give your lives to Jesus, the Victim-Victor, and share
in His victory.

Prayer: Father, may I "know Christ and the power flowing from His resurrection;
likewise to know how to share in His sufferings by being formed into the pattern
of His death" (Phil 3:10).

Promise: "See, I am doing something new! Now it springs forth, do you not
perceive it?" -Is 43:19

Praise: Praise to You, Lord Jesus Christ, King of endless glory and majesty!

Pope Francis, Shepherd of Truth

Notable quotations from Pope Francis and official
teachings of the Roman Catholic Church

YOUTH AND MERCY

"A GREAT PARTY"

The Jubilee ... is a time when we can discover that life together as brothers
and sisters is like a great party, perhaps the most beautiful party we can
imagine, the endless party that Jesus has taught us to celebrate by His Spirit.
The Jubilee is the party to which Jesus invites us all, without excluding
anyone.

GROW IN LOVE

To be merciful means to grow in a love which is courageous, generous and real.
It means to grow physically and spiritually. You are preparing to be Christians
capable of making courageous choices and decisions, in order to build daily,
even through little things, a world of peace.

"AMAZING CHANGES"

Yours is a time of life which is full of amazing changes. Everything seems
possible and impossible all at once. I repeat what I said to some of your
friends: "Remain steadfast in the journey of faith, with firm hope in the Lord
..." (homily, 2013)
