40 Days of Prayer continues for the Paul Jansen Discipleship Center

Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,

Praise Jesus now and forever! Thanks for your prayers and please keep praying for our Discipleship Center.  We are about in the middle of our 40 days of prayer which ends June 22.

We ask that you please email us with any insights or prophetic words you believe the Lord wants us to hear about this project.

Following is a suggested daily prayer:

Prayer for the Building Project

Abba Father, source of all life, you brought each of us into being and have called us to be a community of faith.

Lord Jesus, Son of the living God, architect and builder of all things, You have given us the task of proclaiming your Gospel, of being a sign of your love, and building a place to call home.

Following the wisdom of your Spirit, we have set about to provide buildings where our faith can be shared from generation to generation, and your love may be celebrated in your community of faith which we construct under your guidance and on the chief Cornerstone, Jesus the Christ.

Lord Jesus, we seek your provision for the funds, workers, and resources necessary to complete the task you have given us.  Fortify our faith stronger than our buildings.  Watch over the laborers and keep them safe.  May our work on this project serve to strengthen our church community and contribute to the building of the Kingdom of Our Lord Jesus Christ, here on earth and in eternity. Amen.

Directors Vision for “The Farm”

So what is the plan for the Paul Jansen Discipleship Center, lovingly known as “The Farm”?  Our vision of this place is to have a thriving community that would maintain the buildings and the grounds; provide the wide variety of PM teachings including the Guadalupe Bible college curriculum; and to live a life of holiness equipping others to be Jesus’ disciples.  For this to happen, we need to have the construction of the buildings complete, the community in place, and plenty of students who are interested in becoming disciples of Jesus and His word.

So where are we on this journey to the vision?  Betty Orlando is leading the “Our Lady’s Holy Mountain Community” at “The Farm”. They have given themselves to God and are living either at ‘The Farm” or commuting to “The Farm” to provide retreats. Right now, we have about $150,000.00 in the bank for the completion of the buildings. We need to complete the plumbing, electrical and heating systems along with the interior of the chapel and dorms. We estimate this will take about 1 million dollars in total to complete the project, but we don’t plan on beginning again until over half of the needed funds are available.  We need to continue praying and asking God how He wants to give us the funds to complete the building project.

To help PM determine “how God wants to give us the funds”, the directors are calling for all the HB Communities and Co-Workers to a special 40 days of prayer beginning on Thursday, May 14th (the opening day of the 40 hrs devotional retreat at “The Farm”) and ending Monday June 22th. We request that everyone pray and ask how God wants us to make our needs known.  Some items that have been discussed that we need God’s direction about; sending out additional appeal letters, possibly asking a leader to lead a building fund drive to solicit donors for each of the rooms of the dorms, and maybe putting the appeal in the OBOB booklet.  We need God to bless this effort and tell us how He wants us to make our needs known.  Please join us in prayer as we discern how God will provide the funds.

More information and photos of the center can be found on our website at http://www.presentationministries.com/pjdc/chapel.asp.  Thanks for your prayers!

JESUS IS LORD

"David himself addresses Him as 'Lord.' " —Mark 12:37

Demons believe in God (Jas 2:19). In the Gospels, demons address Jesus by
various titles: "Son of God" (Mt 8:29; Lk 4:41), "Holy One of God" (Lk
4:34), "Son of God Most High" (Lk 8:28). However, the demons never address
Jesus by the title "Lord." This is because the title "Lord" means
ownership, and demons have rebelled against being ruled by God. Scripture
says, "No one can say 'Jesus is Lord,' except in the Holy Spirit" (1 Cor
12:3), and demons do not live according to the Spirit of God.

How about us? Are we rebelling against God and not living according to the
Holy Spirit? Are we any better than the demons? If not, we won't be able
to stomach the prospect of addressing Jesus as Lord. Calling Jesus "Lord"
has life-changing ramifications, in particular, obedience to Jesus. Lord
Jesus declares: "None of those who cry out, 'Lord, Lord,' will enter the
kingdom of God, but only the one who does the will of My Father in heaven"
(Mt 7:21). "Lord" is a serious word.

The next time you attend Mass, count the number of times you hear the word
"Lord" spoken in reference to Jesus. This is a profession of reality and a
declaration of joyful submission to Lord Jesus. Jesus really and truly is
Lord, that is, He is our Owner (see 1 Cor 6:19-20). We owe Lord Jesus
obedience and total allegiance in a world hostile to his lordship (see Lk
19:14). Repent of any refusal to submit to the lordship of Jesus in your
life. Accept Jesus as your Lord.

Prayer: Lord Jesus, at every Mass, whenever we speak the word "Lord," may
we gratefully submit every facet of our lives to Your lordship. "Lord,
hear our prayer."

Promise: "The Lord gives sight to the blind." —Ps 146:8

Praise: St. Boniface worked tirelessly to uproot ancient superstitions of
the early German people and labored until his death to bring light and
truth. He died with thirty companions for proclaiming the name of the
Lord.

GOD IN THE BEDROOM

"Tobiah arose from bed and said to his wife: 'My love, get up. Let us
pray.' " —Tobit 8:4

Look what happens when a married couple welcomes God into the bedroom.
They marry "for a noble purpose" (Tb 8:7), such as convincing the world
that Jesus loves the Church by reflecting God's love in their marriage
(Eph 5:25, 32). They pray together, lead holy lives, and pass godly faith
to the next generation.

You may think that what happens in your bedroom impacts only you and your
spouse. On the contrary, your "private" actions impact your children,
extended family, and the world. In fact, Jesus proclaims that your private
words and actions "in locked rooms will be proclaimed from the rooftops"
(Lk 12:3). Moreover, if God is evicted from your bedroom, Satan moves in
(see Lk 11:24-26). The work of the evil one is to destroy marriages and
families. Your private actions and attitudes of mistrust in God are
displayed publicly through unforgiveness, bitterness, mistrust of your
spouse, all of which sow the seeds of divorce.

Married couples, do you neglect to pray together? Have you practiced
artificial contraception, sterilization, or abortion? Is your marriage
honored in every way and your marriage bed still undefiled? (see Heb 13:4)
Repent of any lack of trust in God for your marriage. God's reputation is
at stake. The world is watching your marriage. Will the world decide by
observing your marriage that God is worthy of trust?

Prayer: Jesus, may all married couples accept you as Lord. Renew the face
of the earth through holy marriages (Ps 104:30).

Promise: "Your marriage to her has been decided in heaven!" —Tb 7:11

Praise: The Smiths pray the rosary in the car together and attend daily
Mass while on vacation.

BURYING SIN

"It is better for me to die." —Tobit 3:6

Tobit was blind, upset with his wife, out of a job, financially strapped,
and misunderstood. He seemed to be a burden on his wife, son, and
everybody else. Tobit thought the best thing for everybody's sake was for
him to die.

Sarah had seen her seven husbands killed by a demon on seven wedding
nights (Tb 3:8). Sarah was obviously an embarrassment and grief to her
parents (see Tb 8:9-10). She was making life miserable for her maids (Tb
3:9). Sarah felt that if she died, it would be a relief for everybody (Tb
3:10).

Both Tobit and Sarah felt that they could take a lot of peoples' problems
down with them to the grave; however, their deaths would have only made
matters worse.

There is one Man Who did absorb all the sins and guilt of all people of
all times. We no longer need to carry a burden of guilt; Jesus has died so
that we can live. "For our sakes God made Him Who did not know sin, to be
sin" (2 Cor 5:21). "In His own body He brought your sins to the cross" (1
Pt 2:24). He took all our sins to the grave with Him "thereby condemning
sin" (Rm 8:3) "so that all of us, dead to sin, could live in accord with
God's will. By His wounds you were healed" (1 Pt 2:24). Thank You, Jesus!

Prayer: Jesus, I cast all my cares on You (1 Pt 5:7).

Promise: "When people rise from the dead, they neither marry nor are given
in marriage but live like angels in heaven." —Mk 12:25

Praise: St. Charles and his companions, some as young as age thirteen,
lived and died for the sake of Truth — Jesus Christ.

THE NATURE OF MARRIAGE

"I became very angry with her over this." —Tobit 2:14

Tobit became blind and disabled (Tb 2:10). In those days, there was no
provision for Tobit to be employed, so his wife Anna took a job as a
weaver (Tb 2:11). This put a strain on their marriage. Finally, they had a
big fight (Tb 2:13-14). Tobit became so depressed he prayed to die (Tb
3:6). This part of Tobit's life bears out the truth of the proverb: "The
man is a slave, in disgrace and shame, when a wife supports her husband"
(Sir 25:21).

Although some of our expectations for husbands and wives are mere cultural
biases, some aspects of marriage are established by God's design.
Therefore, before we exchange male and female roles, we must take care
that we are led by the Holy Spirit in accord with God's word and not
manipulated by our ignorance, hurts, or various lobbying groups.

There is such a thing as objective truth. Marriage is not whatever we want
it to be, but it has been created by God to work in a certain way.
Husbands and wives are both equal and different. Each has a unique role in
developing their marriages to be signs of God's love for the Church. The
wife's obedient submission and the husband's sacrificial love are part of
the God-given nature of marriage (see Eph 5:32). The Lord intends to make
marriage a masterpiece, but we must be humble enough to follow
instructions.

Prayer: Father, may I not be conformed to the world, but to Your Church
and word (see Rm 12:2). May all married people reading this pray with
their spouses.

Promise: "Happy the man who fears the Lord, who greatly delights in His
commands. His posterity shall be mighty upon the earth!" —Ps 112:1-2

Praise: Sts. Marcellinus & Peter continued to evangelize even as they
waited in prison for their impending deaths.

FRUIT AND NUTS

"He still had One to send — the Son Whom He loved. He sent Him to them as
a last resort, thinking, 'They will have to respect My Son.' " —Mark 12:6

God, the good Master, digs out a vat for tenants who will soon mock His
messengers and murder His Son (Mk 12:1-8). The tenant farmers were
entrusted to run the vineyard for the Master in His absence. They have
been given much, and therefore much will be required of them (Lk 12:48).
The Master has the right, in justice, to receive His own fruit from His
own property, so He sent a messenger to receive His share of the fruit.

When the tenants beat the first messenger (Mk 12:3), the Master could have
sent the police to evict the ungrateful tenants. Instead, He sent His
prophets to enrich them, essentially to hoe around them another year (Lk
13:8). These were beaten, mocked, and even killed. Incredibly, the Master
even sent His Son as a "last resort" (Mk 12:6). Doesn't the Master "get
it"? Either the Master is incredibly stupid or He is loving and merciful
far beyond our ability to comprehend.

Jesus told the parable of the tenants for the religious leaders of His day
(Mk 12:12). It was intended as a means to urge them to accept Jesus as
God's Son. After being given so many chances to bear the fruit God sought,
how did Jesus' hearers respond to Him? "They left Him and went off" (Mk
12:12).

Jesus seeks kingdom-fruit from us (Mk 12:2). We must repent deeply of the
times we have heard Him and walked away (Mk 12:12). Let's be His disciples
and bear much fruit (Jn 15:8).

Prayer: Jesus, trim me clean of barren branches so I may bear an increased
yield of fruit for You (Jn 15:2).

Promise: "Happy the man who fears the Lord, who greatly delights in His
commands." —Ps 112:1

Praise: St. Justin's last recorded words were addressed to his
executioners: "Do as you will. We are Christians; we do not offer
sacrifice to idols."
