LISTEN UP
"From the cloud came a voice which said, 'This is My Son, My Chosen One. Listen to Him.' " -Luke 9:35
Jesus told His disciples about His and their deaths and resurrection. However, they would not listen to Him.
Jesus told us about a radically different way of happiness through choosing poverty and living a persecutable life (Mt 5:3-10). Yet, by and large, we do not listen to Him.
Jesus told His disciples about denying themselves and taking up the daily cross (Lk 9:23), but they would not listen to Him.
Jesus told us about laying down our lives for Him and the gospel (Mk 10:29). Are we listening to Him?
Jesus is the Word of life, but we don't seem to have ears to hear (Mk 4:9). He invites us to accompany Him up Transfiguration Mountain. Here we see His face changed in appearance and His clothes dazzlingly white (Lk 9:29). He is God's Son, His Chosen One (Lk 9:35). He is the One Who has "received dominion, glory, and kingship; nations and peoples of every language serve Him. His dominion is an everlasting dominion that shall not be taken away, His kingship shall not be destroyed" (Dn 7:14).
As we climb to higher altitudes, the pressure changes. Our ears open and we can hear. "Climb the Lord's mountain" (Is 2:3). "Listen to Him" (Lk 9:35).
Prayer: Father, do anything necessary in my life to have me listen to Your Son.
Promise: "We possess the prophetic message as something altogether reliable." -2 Pt 1:19
Praise: Praise You, transfigured Jesus, covered in glory. You will come again in such glory. Come, Lord Jesus!
