PM eNewsletter Fourth Sunday of Easter

April 29th. Fourth Sunday of Easter

This week, Jesus, Your church celebrates St. Joseph the worker, St. Philip the apostle, and
St. James the apostle.

St. Joseph, Your foster father, loved You and raised You til mid life.

Then he was taken home, most probably blessed to have You and Mary, our mother, at his
side as he died.

St. Philip and St. James gave their lives to proclaim You to the world.

Help us, Jesus, to imitate their zeal, and procalim You to those around us, by our lived
lives and the way we praise and glorify Your name.

Jesus, help us to be apostles for You.

Amen and Amen.

Thank you Lord, for loving us totally.

One Bread, One Body

This weeks readings and reflections

Sunday THE SPIRIT OF OUR FATHER
http://presentationministries.com/obob/obob.asp?d=4/29/2012

"The Father loves Me for this." -John 10:17

The Holy Spirit confirms and strengthens us. He makes us confident, bold, and immune to
manipulation by fears. Peter, for example, before receiving the Spirit, denied Christ
three times when he was confronted with very minimal pressure from a servant girl
(Lk 22:56ff). After receiving the Spirit, Peter fearlessly proclaimed Jesus as Lord and
Savior without being intimidated by a formidable group of leaders, elders, scribes, and
members of the high priest's family (Acts 4:5-6).

How does the Spirit change the fearful into fearless warriors for God? The Spirit from our
hearts cries out "Abba!" ("Father") (Gal 4:6; Rm 8:15) By the Spirit, we become convinced
that God the Father loves us. We know that even if a mother would be without tenderness
for the child of her womb, our heavenly Father will never stop loving us (see Is 49:15).
The Spirit opens our eyes to realize that after the Father has sent the Son to die for
love of us, we can be sure that our Father will never forsake us (Rm 8:32). "See what love
the Father has bestowed on us in letting us be called children of God! Yet that is what we
are" (1 Jn 3:1). We have no more reason to fear. If God the Father "is for us, who can be
against us?" (Rm 8:31)

When we receive the Spirit from the Father and the Son, we begin to know and trust the
Father and the Son so deeply that we can fearlessly face death, endure sufferings, and
live the risen life. Come, Holy Spirit!

Pope Benedict XVI, Shepherd of Truth
http://presentationministries.com/BST/bst2012-04.asp?navlink=latest

Notable quotations from Pope Benedict XVI and official
teachings of the Roman Catholic Church

GOD'S LOVE AND VOCATIONS

BIRTH AND GROWTH

It is in this soil of self-offering and openness to the love of God, and as a fruit of
that love, that all vocations are born and grow.

"LOVE FOR OUR NEIGHBORS"

By drawing from this well-spring through prayer, constant recourse to God's word and
to the sacraments, especially the Eucharist, it becomes possible to live a life of
love for our neighbors, in whom we come to perceive the face of Christ the Lord
(cf. Mt 25:31-46).

INTENSITY AND PURITY

These two expressions of the one divine love must be lived with a particular intensity
and purity of heart by those who have decided to set out on the path of vocation
discernment towards the ministerial priesthood and the consecrated life; they are its
distinguishing mark.
