December 7th Second Sunday of Advent
Merciful Jesus, Your plan of our redemption is about to start with
the Immaculate Conception of Mary our Mother.
This week, we celebrate this feast and so start to prepare for Your
coming among us.
Jesus, let us be in awe of how You prepared the perfect "ark of the
new covenant" through Mary.
Mary was sinless from conception and always stayed sinless.
We, who are sinners, fall far short of truly being really worthy of Your love.
Yet, You loved us so much that You became one of us to carry all of
our sins to the cross.
Jesus, help us to truly be repentent for our sins, help us to get to
confession and amend our ways.
Amen and Amen.
Thank You Lord, for loving us totally.

Sunday CHRISTMAS COMFORT
http://presentationministries.com/obob/obob.asp?lang=en&d=12/7/2014
"Comfort, give comfort to My people, says your God. Speak tenderly."
-Isaiah 40:1-2
The Lord promises to comfort and speak tenderly to us. In the second
reading, the Church proclaims in the name of the Lord that "the heavens
will vanish with a roar; the elements will be destroyed by fire"
(2 Pt 3:10). How comforting! In the Gospel reading, we meet St. John the
Baptizer, one of the least comforting characters in the Bible and in
history (see Mk 1:2ff). The Lord's ways are not our ways, and His idea
of comfort is not our idea of comfort (see Is 55:8).
The Lord does not want to give us the superficial comfort of temporary
relief or a bit of encouragement. Rather, the Lord promises to baptize
us in the Holy Spirit (Mk 1:8), the Paraclete, the Comforter (see e.g.
Jn 14:16, 26; 15:26; 16:7). This divine Comforter will free us from
generations of slavery, sin, guilt, and punishment (Is 40:2). Comfort
will begin with the Holy Spirit convicting the world and us of sin,
justice, and condemnation (Jn 16:8). Then we must let the Spirit lead
us from conviction to repentance, confession, and forgiveness. After
this, we will personally experience that "where the Spirit of the Lord
is, there is freedom" (2 Cor 3:17). In the comfort of the Spirit, we
will truly enter into the freedom of the Lord. We will displace the
culture of death with a civilization of love and life. Come, Holy
Spirit of Christmas and comfort!
Prayer: Father, comfort me Your way.
Promise: "Here is your God! Here comes with power the Lord God, Who
rules by His strong arm." -Is 40:9-10
Praise: Jesus came forth from the tomb; "Truth shall spring out of the
earth" (Ps 85:12). Praise the risen Jesus, "the Way, and the Truth, and the Life" (Jn 14:6).

Lord Jesus may Advent bring us to a deep experience of Your love and
compassion. May the grace of this Season bear the fruit of our own
conversion. May my family prepare for advent so as to prepare for Your
glorious return in Your second coming by: - Departing from the denial
of God and from the obstinate rebellion against his Law, and disposing
ourselves to receive You; - Shunning sin and impurity, and disposing
ourselves to receive the grace of holiness; - Leaving behind hatred,
egoism and injustice, and disposing ourselves to God's love and peace;
Setting aside incredulity and pride, and disposing ourselves in faith
and in humility. Lord Jesus with the help of our Blessed Mother, may
Advent bring us to a deep experience of Your' love and compassion. May
You answer our deepest need of job security in a most profound way. May
the grace of this Season bear the fruit of our own conversion and aid
in our temporal needs. In Jesus' name I pray amen.

Pope Francis, Shepherd of Truth
http://presentationministries.com/pope/fst2014-11.asp?navlink=latest
Notable quotations from Pope Francis and official teachings of the Roman Catholic Church
THE ELDERLY
"A TIME OF GRACE"
In a special way, old age is a time of grace, in which the Lord renews
His call to us; He calls us to safeguard and transmit the faith, He calls
us to pray, especially to intercede; He calls us to be close to those in
need .... The elderly, grandparents have the ability to understand the
most difficult of situations: a great ability! And when they pray for
these situations, their prayer is strong; it is powerful!
"A GREAT RESPONSIBILITY"
Grandparents, who have received the blessing to see their children's
children (cf. Ps 128:6), are entrusted with a great responsibility: to
transmit their life experience, their family history, the history of a
community, of a people; to share wisdom with simplicity, and the faith
itself - the most precious heritage!
HAPPINESS IS ...
Happy is the family who have grandparents close by! A grandfather is a
father twice over and a grandmother is a mother twice over.
