February 22nd, 2015 1st Sunday of Lent
Jesus, many times we have given up things for lent, but still remained
the same in heart.
So this year Jesus, give us the grace to understand what You want us to
give up, so that we can truly be freed from the bondage of past hurts,
that we may have caused to others, or that others did to us.
Let this lent cause a cleansing of heart, so that when you rise again
on Easter morn, we also will rise anew with You.
Let us all search our hearts, and see if Your throne room is clean and
in order, for Your coming this resurrection day.
Grace us to be willing to give up anything that is stopping our hearts
to be a palace of love for You and others.
Let us truly make the declaration, that only in You Christ, will life
ever be worth living.
Open us Jesus, please open us.
Amen and Amen.
Thank you Lord, for loving us totally.

Sunday BEAUTY AND THE BEAST

"He stayed in the wasteland forty days...He was with the wild beasts."
-Mark 1:13
Mark's Gospel was written around 70 A.D., and is believed to have been
written in Rome. At that time in Rome, it was not uncommon for
Christians to be thrown into an arena with hungry wild beasts, such as
lions and tigers, to be martyred by being devoured by them.
Can you imagine how the early Christians of Rome must have been
encouraged to hear that Jesus dwelt in safety among the wild beasts?
(Mk 1:13) Jesus not only survived being in the presence of the wild
beasts, but apparently lived in peace with them. The prophet Isaiah
announced that in Jesus the wild beasts will likewise live in peace
with all creation (see Is 11:6-8). The Lord in His power can shut the
jaws of the wild beasts to protect His holy ones (Dn 6:23). In fact,
in Daniel's case, the wild beasts eventually destroyed the human
beasts (Dn 6:25).
Today we're always facing the wild beasts of the godless secular
culture, economic tyranny, government attacks on religious freedom,
and so on. Satan is prowling around like a roaring lion, that is, a
wild beast, looking for someone to devour (1 Pt 5:8).
When Jesus was with the wild beasts, He was not alone. The Spirit
was with Him, and angels of God ministered to Him (Mk 1:12-13). The
Lord can save us from the jaws of the wild beasts, human, animal, or
spiritual (see 2 Tm 4:17). Nothing, not even wild beasts, can
separate us from the love of Jesus (Rm 8:39).
Prayer: "In God I trust without fear; what can flesh do against me?"
(Ps 56:12)
Promise: "Good and upright is the Lord; thus He shows sinners the
way." -Ps 25:8
Praise: Praise You, risen Jesus! Your first act after You rose from
the dead was to offer Your disciples peace and reconciliation
(Jn 20:19, 23). Praise You, Jesus, "rich in mercy" (Eph 2:4).

Please do keep my Sister anishia in your prayers. She has a whole lot
of internal wounds. She is afraid of men and marriage. She says the
person she hates the most is my mother. On hearing that father and
mother have broken down. Not able to console any of them. Sister is
speaking as though she is possessed. Never have seen her so. Please
do earnestly pray for her.

Lord Jesus may I not spiritualize fasting and take away its essential
material element. May I not spiritualize Christianity and forget its
fundamental, incarnational essence. For " the spiritual was not first;
first came the natural and after that the spiritual" ( 1 Cor 15:46 ).
May I have both a natural and a spiritual Lent. May my Lent be as
physical as growling stomachs, hunger pains, and lost weight. May Lent
then be as spiritual as repentance, reconciliation in relationships,
and total commitment to the Lord. In this Lent, may I both offer my
body as a living sacrifice and be transformed by the renewal of your
mind ( Rm 12:1-2 ). In Jesus name I pray Amen.

The Bible Telephone Line (BTL) has been in operation for 19 years. Begun by Fr. Al
in 1991, it now continues with three teachers trained by him and by Presentation
Ministries. In cities where local numbers have been established, the BTL provides
callers with a short teaching on the readings for the daily Mass. It is available 24
hours a day and 7 days a week. Callers may also leave a short prayer request which
