ANGEL-FACE
"Throughout, Stephen's face seemed like that of an angel." -Acts 6:15
The modern idea is that an angel's face is sweet, cherubic, and blissful. Yet the truth is that angels have their faces constantly focused on Jesus. Angels "fix [their] eyes on Jesus" (Heb 3:1). The angels worship Jesus, but also are in a state of constant focused attention on Jesus. Angels are messengers from God who wait for a message from God to deliver or for a command from the Lord to execute. Angels center their entire existence on Jesus (see Jn 1:51; Mt 4:11).
Angels are always at the wait. An army of "more than twelve legions of angels" stood ready for instant deployment to rescue Jesus as he was about to be arrested in Gethsemane. Jesus noted specifically that these angels were ready "at a moment's notice" (Mt 26:53). The obvious conclusion is that these angels' faces were fixed on the hand of almighty God, completely armed and totally prepared to enter battle upon command (see Ps 123:1-2).
St. Stephen, no doubt, was worshipping God as he sat in the crossfire of the trial by fire in the Sanhedrin. But His face was like that of an angel, with eyes focused on the Lord. Though the members of the Sanhedrin fixed their eyes "intently" on Stephen (Acts 6:15), Stephen's eyes were on the Lord, not on his dire circumstances. Stephen looked to God above in worship (Acts 7:55), but he was also looking to the Lord to see if he was to deliver a message, much of which he delivered in Acts chapter 7. When Stephen was being stoned to death, he continued to look at Jesus, this time at the crucified Jesus. Stephen quoted two passages of Jesus crucified as His final words (Acts 7:59-60).
Have the face of an angel. "Fix your eyes on Jesus" (Heb 3:1).
Prayer: Lord Jesus, may I desire to see nothing but You.
Promise: "Your decrees are my delight." -Ps 119:24
Praise: St. Joseph listened in his sleep to the angel's message.

PM eNewsletter Third Sunday of Easter
April 30, 2017 Third Sunday of Easter
Jesus, this week you give us great examples of trusting and giving workers of Yours, first
St. Joseph the worker who without fail gave all he had and all he was to You and Mary our Mother.
St. Joseph is a quiet, but great example of steady unconditional love.
We then, also have St's Philip and James, who did the unthinkable, they followed an uneducated
person to His cross and then to their own deaths.
Jesus, give us an Apostles zeal and love that we too might come to such an understanding of You,
that we will also willingly die to the world and all around us.
That we will so focus on You, that what others think won't matter and what happens to us doesn't
matter either.
Let us become totally yours in everything. Thank You for Your great love.
Amen and Amen.
Thank You Lord, for loving us totally.

One Bread, One Body
This weeks readings and reflections
Sunday PERFECT TIMING
http://presentationministries.com/obob/obob.asp?lang=en&d=4/30/2017
"Stay with us. It is nearly evening - the day is practically over." -Luke 24:29
The Jewish people of Jesus' time measured their days not from morning to night but from
evening to evening. Thus, Jesus began the day of His death with the Last Supper, the first
Mass, and He ended the day of His resurrection with the second Mass. After a Liturgy of
the Word (lasting for the time it takes to walk about seven miles), Jesus "took bread,
pronounced the blessing, then broke the bread and began to distribute it to them. With that
their eyes were opened and they recognized Him" (Lk 24:30-31).
The early Church realized that Jesus' timing of the first two Masses (Eucharists) was very
significant. Led by the Spirit (Jn 16:13), they devoted themselves to the breaking of the
bread, that is, the Mass (Acts 2:42). Wherever the Church has emphasized devotion to the
Mass throughout its history, it has seen the love, power, and glory of God.
Therefore, let us fully enter into the Sunday celebration of the Mass. May it be the center
of our Sunday and of our life. Let us pray the Mass daily or as often as possible. Let us
visit the Blessed Sacrament frequently. A life eucharistically centered is a life centered
on the crucified and risen Christ.
Prayer: Father, teach me to pray and live the Mass.
Promise: "Realize that you were delivered from the futile way of life your fathers handed
on to you, not by any diminishable sum of silver or gold, but by Christ's blood beyond all
price: the blood of a spotless, unblemished Lamb chosen before the world's foundation and
revealed for your sake in these last days." -1 Pt 1:18-20
Praise: Praise to You risen Lord Jesus, King of heaven and earth!

They are in their mid 80s and not much fun to be around. I guess I come to see them every

to a singles Sunday school class and to church. I am beginning to wonder if I will ever
find any buds to pal around with again. Pray for me a great rest of the evening and a
great Sunday all day

Notable quotations from Pope Francis and official teachings of the Roman Catholic Church
CALLED TO MISSION
"IRREPRESSIBLE DESIRE"
Those who are drawn by God's voice and determined to follow Jesus soon discover within
themselves an irrepressible desire to bring the Good News to their brothers and sisters
through proclamation and the service of charity. All Christians are called to be
missionaries of the Gospel!
TRANSFORMED BY JOY
As disciples , we do not receive the gift of God's love for our personal consolation, nor
are we called to promote ourselves, or a business concern. We are simply men and women
touched and transformed by the joy of God's love, who cannot keep this experience just to
ourselves.
NO ROOM FOR FEAR
There is no room for fear! God Himself comes to cleanse our "unclean lips" and equip us
for the mission... By virtue of baptism, every Christian is a "Christopher", a bearer of
Christ, to his brothers and sisters.

The early Church realized that Jesus' timing of the first two Masses (Eucharists) was very significant. Led by the Spirit (Jn 16:13), they devoted themselves to the breaking of the bread, that is, the Mass (Acts 2:42). Wherever the Church has emphasized devotion to the Mass throughout its history, it has seen the love, power, and glory of God.
Therefore, let us fully enter into the Sunday celebration of the Mass. May it be the center of our Sunday and of our life. Let us pray the Mass daily or as often as possible. Let us visit the Blessed Sacrament frequently. A life eucharistically centered is a life centered on the crucified and risen Christ.
Prayer: Father, teach me to pray and live the Mass.
Promise: "Realize that you were delivered from the futile way of life your fathers handed on to you, not by any diminishable sum of silver or gold, but by Christ's blood beyond all price: the blood of a spotless, unblemished Lamb chosen before the world's foundation and revealed for your sake in these last days." -1 Pt 1:18-20
Praise: Praise to You risen Lord Jesus, King of heaven and earth!
(We invite you to attend our retreat "Celebrating the Sacraments With Joy "at our Retreat Center in Peebles, OH, May 19-21. For information or to register, call 937-587-5464 or 513-373-2397 or visit www.presentationministries.com.)

PERFECT TIMING
"Stay with us. It is nearly evening - the day is practically over." -Luke 24:29
The Jewish people of Jesus' time measured their days not from morning to night but from evening to evening. Thus, Jesus began the day of His death with the Last Supper, the first Mass, and He ended the day of His resurrection with the second Mass. After a Liturgy of the Word (lasting for the time it takes to walk about seven miles), Jesus "took bread, pronounced the blessing, then broke the bread and began to distribute it to them. WHEN SHEEP MAKE SHEPHERDS - One Bread, One Body, 4/29/2017

WHEN SHEEP MAKE SHEPHERDS
"Look around among your own number, brothers, for seven men acknowledged to be deeply spiritual and prudent." -Acts 6:3
"They presented these men to the apostles." -Acts 6:6
Did you notice that the leaders of the early Church placed the responsibility for finding deacons on the "community of the disciples"? (Acts 6:2) That's us! We are to be on the lookout for those who would make good leaders in the Church.
This was new for the early Christians. Jewish priests and Levites were born into their positions. The apostles were called and chosen by Jesus Himself. The early Church, however, called the lay people to raise up future leaders from "among [their] own number" (Acts 6:3).
Our priests and bishops today cannot possibly know each person who may have a call to religious life and other forms of leadership in the Church. They depend on each one of us to do our part in building up the Church. We can do this by:
* asking God to reveal to us those "spiritual and prudent" men and women,
* pointing out to these people their gifts,
* frequently encouraging (Heb 10:25) and praying for them,
* discipling them so they can be more "spiritual and prudent,"
* presenting these people to church leaders by offering to introduce them to vocation directors, paying for them to go on retreats, etc. and
* making disciples (Mt 28:19) by having as many children as God calls us to have and raising them in the faith.
The leaders of the Church are depending on you. "Look around" (Acts 6:3).
Prayer: Father, may I be for You a scout full of encouragement (Nm 13:2, 30ff).
Promise: Jesus "told them, 'It is I; do not be afraid.' " -Jn 6:20
Praise: St. Catherine guided the chief pastor, the pope.

WILL YOU PASS HIS TESTS? - One Bread, One Body, 4/28/2017
Friday, April 28, 2017, St. Peter Chanel, St. Louis Mary de Montfort
Acts 5:34-42, Psalm 27:1, 4, 13-14, John 6:1-15
Link to Readings --> http://www.usccb.org/bible/readings/042817.cfm
WILL YOU PASS HIS TESTS?
Jesus "knew well what He intended to do but He asked this to test Philip's response." -John 6:6
Jesus plans to test us. He will present us with humanly impossible situations (see Jn 6:5) to see whether we will walk by faith or by sight (2 Cor 5:7). He will test us to see whether we will judge by God's standards or by men's (1 Sm 16:7; Mt 16:23). We may even be tested by persecution. Will we do the natural thing: hate our persecutors and be intimidated by them? Or will we forgive our enemies, love them, and consider it our privilege to be "judged worthy of ill-treatment for the sake of the Name" of Jesus? (Acts 5:41)
We pass our tests not only by God's grace at the moment of testing, but also by God's graces, received hours, days, and years before the tests. Although the strength to have victory in times of testing can be infused into us at the last moment, spiritual strength, like physical strength, is usually gained in small increments over a long period of time. The present is the time to prepare for the future. Miracles, martyrdoms, and other tests which will happen years from now may stem from the graces we choose to receive today. Therefore, today "grow strong in your holy faith through prayer in the Holy Spirit" (Jude 20).
Prayer: Father, strengthen me minute by minute as I live in obedience and love.
Promise: "When the people saw the sign He had performed they began to say, 'This is undoubtedly the Prophet Who is to come into the world.' " -Jn 6:14
Praise: St. Louis' True Devotion is a source of grace for many today.
(Prepare to have a spirit-filled Pentecost. Order our tape, "Pentecost Novena", on audio AV 103-1 or video V-103, and on "Praying for a New Pentecost", on audio AV 92A-1, AV 92A-3, AV 92B-1 or video V 92A, V 92B.)

TAKING RESPONSIBILITY - One Bread, One Body, 4/27/2017

TAKING RESPONSIBILITY
"Make us responsible for that Man's blood." -Acts 5:28
The high priest accused the apostles of being determined to make the religious leaders "responsible for that Man's blood." However, most of the religious leaders refused to take responsibility for Jesus' execution. Otherwise, they would not have called Jesus "that Man" but "the Savior of the world." The apostles were determined to make responsible for Jesus' blood not only the religious leaders but everyone, including themselves and us. They said that God told them to do this, and they obeyed Him (Acts 5:29).
Will you admit that you are personally responsible for Jesus' brutal death on the cross? You may say you are innocent because you were not living when Jesus was killed. However, Jesus' death transcends time. Everyone who has ever sinned is responsible for the God-Man's blood. In the Roman Catechism after the Council of Trent, the Church taught: "We must regard as guilty all those who continue to relapse into their sins. Since our sins made the Lord Christ suffer the torment of the cross, those who plunge themselves into disorders and crimes crucify the Son of God anew in their hearts (for He is in them) and hold Him up to contempt" (quoted in the Catechism of the Catholic Church, 598). St. Francis of Assisi taught: "Nor did demons crucify Him; it is you who have crucified Him and crucify Him still, when you delight in your vices and sins" (both quoted in the Catechism, 598; see also Heb 6:6).
Admit your responsibility for the death of Jesus. Repent and receive the love and mercy of the risen Christ.
Prayer: Father, may Your Son's blood on my hands cleanse my heart.
Promise: "He does not ration His gift of the Spirit." -Jn 3:34
Praise: Frank continued to frequent the Sacrament of Confession even after Lent was over.
(For a related teaching, order our tape "Reconciliation" on audio AV 1A-1 or video V-1A.)

ESCAPED, ARMED, AND DANGEROUS - One Bread, One Body, 4/26/2017

ESCAPED, ARMED, AND DANGEROUS
"We found the jail securely locked and the guards at their posts outside the gates, but when we opened it we found no one inside." -Acts 5:23
The Sanhedrin thought the apostles were locked in jail, but actually they were in the Temple preaching "to the people all about this new life" in Jesus (Acts 5:20). The public school system thinks it has its teachers' faith and prayers locked up in a jail of laws forbidding evangelization and prayer in public schools. However, some public school teachers, and even principals, are obeying God rather than men (Acts 5:29). "With full assurance, and without any hindrance whatever," they are preaching "the reign of God" and teaching "about the Lord Jesus Christ" (Acts 28:31).
Business and the mass media think they have a lock on our culture with their religion of secular humanism. They intolerantly and militantly ostracize anyone who doesn't follow the party-line. Nevertheless, Christians are letting their light shine (Mt 5:14-16), even in the darkest corners of the "culture of death."
The world thinks Christians are in prison. While many of us are imprisoned and most of us look imprisoned, some Christians have let the Lord secretly free them. As Jesus rose from the dead and emerged from the tomb, some Christians are no longer shut up "in the grip of the enemy" but are moving "about at large" (Ps 31:9). Watch out, world! Some Christians have been secretly sprung from jail. The Lord has set them "free in the open" (2 Sm 22:20). They will turn this world right side up (see Acts 17:6), as they witness for the risen Christ. They will light a fire on this earth (Lk 12:49). Watch out! Some Christians have escaped. They are armed and extremely dangerous.
Prayer: Father, make me a much greater threat to the devil.
Promise: "God so loved the world that He gave His only Son, that whoever believes in Him may not die but may have eternal life." -Jn 3:16
Praise: John has been freeing spiritual prisoners for 30 years.

ON YOUR MARK, GET SET, GO
"The church that is in Babylon, chosen together with you, sends you greeting, as does Mark my son." -1 Peter 5:13
During the Easter season, the Church presents to us a gallery of resurrection-witnesses. We see Mary Magdalene, Thomas, Stephen, Philip, Peter, and now Mark. Each of these people were in the tomb of sin but miraculously rose from the dead into the risen light.
We know (John) Mark was a dropout, someone manipulated by fear rather than walking by faith. He left Paul's first missionary journey (Acts 13:13). Although Paul refused to let him rejoin the second missionary journey, Barnabas and eventually Peter took Mark under their wings (Acts 15:39). Mark was transformed. He became the evangelist who wrote the earliest Gospel. The one who dropped out of the first missionary journey provided a major resource for missionary journeys of all times.
Mark was chosen by the Lord to write a Gospel, the very Word of God, not because he was so great, talented, or even holy. He was chosen for the same reason Mary Magdalene was chosen to be the first resurrection-witness, Stephen the first martyr, Paul the first missionary, and Peter the first Pope. All those chosen to be first have one thing in common. All had fallen in love with Jesus and had been dramatically transformed.
Prayer: Father, may I profess my faith in the risen Jesus and see the promised signs accompany me (Mk 16:17).
Promise: "Go into the whole world and proclaim the good news to all creation. The man who believes in it and accepts baptism will be saved; the man who refuses to believe in it will be condemned." -Mk 16:15-16
Praise: St. Mark walked away from the first Christian mission. He grew in the Spirit and later wrote a Gospel to proclaim Jesus throughout the ages.

CHURCH MILITANT OR CHURCH DEFEATED? - One Bread, One Body, 4/24/2017
Monday, April 24, 2017, St. Fidelis of Sigmaringen
Acts 4:23-31, Psalm 2:1-9, John 3:1-8
Link to Readings --> http://www.usccb.org/bible/readings/042417.cfm
CHURCH MILITANT OR CHURCH DEFEATED?
"They were filled with the Holy Spirit and continued to speak God's word with confidence." -Acts 4:31
The apostles were thrown into prison by the Jewish leaders for healing a crippled man and then "teaching the people and proclaiming the resurrection of the dead in the person of Jesus" (Acts 4:2). They were then threatened by the leaders to never mention the name of Jesus again (Acts 4:17) and were released. The apostles returned to the other disciples and prayed for complete assurance when they proclaimed the Word of God (Acts 4:29-30). After this prayer, they were filled with the Holy Spirit. They continued to speak God's Word with confidence (Acts 4:31).
Like the first believers in the risen Jesus, we must not be alarmed that the powerful of the world rage and conspire against us (see Acts 4:25). The Church and its members have been attacked for centuries. God in heaven simply laughs (Ps 2:4). He has eternal, almighty power. The powerful of the world wield their power for but a moment in time.
Therefore, we must pray for that same confidence, assurance, and boldness that the apostles possessed. God wants us to confidently know that if He is for us, no one can be against us (Rm 8:31). "He Who is in you is greater than he who is in the world" (1 Jn 4:4, RSV-CE). We are more than conquerors in Jesus (Rm 8:37). Persevere in spreading the Word of God. We are invincible when we are rooted in Jesus and stand securely in the center of His will.
Prayer: May we stir up the Holy Spirit in the world, Lord Jesus. Raise up many teenagers and adults to accept holy, confident, and bold religious vocations and to speak God's Word with confidence.
Promise: "No one can enter into God's kingdom without being begotten of water and Spirit." -Jn 3:5
Praise: St. Fidelis devoted himself to frequent prayer after the Lord revealed to him that he would be martyred.

PM eNewsletter Mercy Sunday
April 23, 2017 Mercy Sunday
Jesus, who of us are worthy of Your Divine Mercy?
Who of us are worthy of your love, no less your mercy.
Yet, this is what You have decreed through Your church that we look upon Your Merciful Heart
and see Your rays of love and forgiveness that we see within Your eyes understanding and within
Your outstretched hands Your call to come and be loved.
Oh Christ, as we struggle with our humanity it is so hard for us to accept the fact that You
love us for no other reason except---- You love us.
Christ, open us up to accept Your unconditional love and grow into loving not only ourselves,
but also all those You put into our lives.
Jesus, let us be lovers of yours in loving others.
Amen and Amen.
Thank You Lord, for loving us totally.

One Bread, One Body
This weeks readings and reflections
Sunday CONFESSION
http://presentationministries.com/obob/obob.asp?lang=en&d=4/23/2017
"Receive the Holy Spirit. If you forgive men's sins, they are forgiven them." -John 20:22-23
In the evening of the day on which Jesus rose from the dead, Jesus came to His disciples,
showed them His nail-scarred hands and wounded side, breathed on them, gave them the Holy
Spirit, and sent them out (Jn 20:19-22). Jesus sent His disciples out not to just make a
general announcement of His Resurrection but to specifically invite us to confess our sins
and be forgiven (see Jn 20:23; Lk 24:47; Acts 2:38; 3:19; 5:31; 10:43; 13:38).
One of the first acts of the risen Christ was to begin to develop the Sacrament of
Reconciliation for the forgiveness of sins. One of the first things we need to do this Easter
season is to repent and go to Confession. When we have removed the planks of sin from our own
eyes, we can then remove the specks from the eyes of others by calling them to repent,
forgive, go to Confession, be forgiven (Mt 7:5), and immerse ourselves in the limitless mercy
of God.
Without Confession, our celebration of the Easter season will be aborted and not come to full
term. With Confession, we will meet the risen Christ, be sent to proclaim the forgiveness of
sins, and celebrate the risen Christ for the full Easter season and for eternity.
Prayer: Father, may my first Confession in this Easter season be life-changing. On this Mercy
Sunday, may I experience the depth of Your ocean of mercy as You reconcile me to Yourself.
Promise: The brethren "devoted themselves to the apostles' instruction and the communal life,
to the breaking of bread and the prayers." -Acts 2:42
Praise: Praise Jesus, "the Resurrection and the Life" (Jn 11:25), "the Way, and the Truth,
and the Life" (Jn 14:6).

CONVERSION GIFTS
LET THE SPIRIT LEAD
May the Holy Spirit lead us on a true journey of conversion, so that we can rediscover the
gift of God's word, be purified of the sin that blinds us, and serve Christ present in our
brothers and sisters in need.
SHARE WITH OTHERS
I encourage all the faithful to express this spiritual renewal ... by sharing in the Lenten
Campaigns promoted by many Church organizations in different parts of the world, and thus
to favor the culture of encounter in our one human family.
PRAY FOR EACH OTHER
Let us pray for one another so that, by sharing in the victory of Christ, we may open our
doors to the weak and poor. Then we will be able to experience and share the full joy of
Easter.

Then we will be able to experience and share the full joy of
Easter.

CONFESSION - One Bread, One Body, 4/23/2017
We apologize for our recent website and email outage. We really had a bad time there, but thanks for your prayers and for sticking with us. God bless you!
-----------------------------------------------------------------
Sunday, April 23, 2017, Second Sunday of Easter, Mercy Sunday
Acts 2:42-47, 1 Peter 1:3-9, Psalm 118:2-4, 13-15, 22-24, John 20:19-31

CONFESSION
"Receive the Holy Spirit. If you forgive men's sins, they are forgiven them." -John 20:22-23
In the evening of the day on which Jesus rose from the dead, Jesus came to His disciples, showed them His nail-scarred hands and wounded side, breathed on them, gave them the Holy Spirit, and sent them out (Jn 20:19-22). Jesus sent His disciples out not to just make a general announcement of His Resurrection but to specifically invite us to confess our sins and be forgiven (see Jn 20:23; Lk 24:47; Acts 2:38; 3:19; 5:31; 10:43; 13:38).
One of the first acts of the risen Christ was to begin to develop the Sacrament of Reconciliation for the forgiveness of sins. One of the first things we need to do this Easter season is to repent and go to Confession. When we have removed the planks of sin from our own eyes, we can then remove the specks from the eyes of others by calling them to repent, forgive, go to Confession, be forgiven (Mt 7:5), and immerse ourselves in the limitless mercy of God.
Without Confession, our celebration of the Easter season will be aborted and not come to full term. With Confession, we will meet the risen Christ, be sent to proclaim the forgiveness of sins, and celebrate the risen Christ for the full Easter season and for eternity.
Prayer: Father, may my first Confession in this Easter season be life-changing. On this Mercy Sunday, may I experience the depth of Your ocean of mercy as You reconcile me to Yourself.
Promise: The brethren "devoted themselves to the apostles' instruction and the communal life, to the breaking of bread and the prayers." -Acts 2:42
Praise: Praise Jesus, "the Resurrection and the Life" (Jn 11:25), "the Way, and the Truth, and the Life" (Jn 14:6).
(For a related teaching, order our tape on "The Secret of Confession" on audio AV 44-3 or video V-44.)

GOING TO EXTREMES - One Bread, One Body, 4/22/2017
Saturday, April 22, 2017, Easter Week
Acts 4:13-21, Psalm 118:1, 14-21, Mark 16:9-15
Link to Readings --> http://www.usccb.org/bible/readings/042217.cfm
GOING TO EXTREMES
Jesus "took them to task for their disbelief and their stubbornness." -Mark 16:14
After Jesus' Resurrection, Mary Magdalene "went to announce the good news to His followers" (Mk 16:10). Yet "they refused to believe it" (Mk 16:11). "Later on, as two of them were walking along on their way to the country, He was revealed to them" (Mk 16:12). Yet when they announced the good news of Jesus' Resurrection, the apostles "put no more faith in them than in Mary Magdalene" (Mk 16:13). Jesus, in His mercy, did not want His apostles to miss out another time on His Resurrection. So "as they were at table, Jesus was revealed to the Eleven. He took them to task for their disbelief and their stubbornness" (Mk 16:14).
The crucified and risen Jesus does not want us to miss out on His Resurrection and eternal life. Therefore, He:
* reprimands (Mk 16:14) and punishes us (2 Pt 2:9),
* encourages us to repent,
* warns us of damnation (Mk 16:16),
* commands us to proclaim to all creation the good news of His resurrection (Mk 16:15),
* calls His disciples to pray constantly, fast for the salvation of the world, and suffer redemptively for the salvation of unbelievers,
* calls some of His disciples to be martyred,
* sends Mary to wake up unbelievers before it is too late, and
* gives His Body and Blood to us.
Jesus is risen, and He has gone to extremes to help us believe in Him and thereby receive eternal life with Him. May Jesus' saving death, glorious Resurrection, and abounding graces not be in vain for any one of us.
Prayer: Father, let me never miss an opportunity to help someone love You.
Promise: "Judge for yourselves whether it is right in God's sight for us to obey you rather than God." -Acts 4:19
Praise: Praise Jesus, "the Resurrection and the Life"! (Jn 11:25)

THE SIN OF CHRISTLESSNESS - One Bread, One Body, 4/21/2017
Friday, April 21, 2017, Easter Week
Acts 4:1-12, Psalm 118:1-2, 4, 22-27, John 21:1-14

THE SIN OF CHRISTLESSNESS
"Simon Peter said to them, 'I am going out to fish.' " -John 21:3
St. Peter denied Christ three times. Most people think of these denials as Peter's worst sins. However, when Peter tried to go back into the fishing business, he may have committed his worst sin. Peter acted as if he had never met Jesus. He went back to B.C., to business as usual, to a Christless existence.
After Jesus got Peter's attention, He went "back to square one." He asked Peter three times whether he loved Him (Jn 21:15-17). Then Jesus started over with Peter and once again called him to follow Him (Jn 21:19). Peter repented again. However, this time his repentance was not an interlude in a series of sins but a preparation for the outpouring of the Holy Spirit at Pentecost.
Are you just starting to celebrate and witness for the risen Christ this Easter season? Or is Easter over, because it never started? Is your day today noticeably different from the priorities and activities of those who don't know our risen Lord? If not, repent! There is a Pentecost for the Peters who repent, and there is risen life for those who receive Pentecost.
Prayer: Father, make me a witness for Your Son - no matter what it takes.
Promise: "There is no salvation in anyone else, for there is no other name in the whole world given to men by which we are to be saved." -Acts 4:12
Praise: Praise You, risen and triumphant Lord Jesus! You reign in glory over heaven and earth. "May the peoples praise You, O God; may all the peoples praise You!" (Ps 67:4, 6)

CATALYTIC CONVERTER - One Bread, One Body, 4/20/2017
Thursday, April 20, 2017, Easter Week
Acts 3:11-26, Psalm 8:2, 5-9, Luke 24:35-48

CATALYTIC CONVERTER
Jesus said: " 'Everything written about Me in the law of Moses and the prophets and psalms had to be fulfilled.' Then He opened their minds to the understanding of the Scriptures." -Luke 24:44-45
We recognize the risen Christ when:
* Jesus opens our "minds to the understanding of the Scriptures,"
* Jesus breaks bread with us (Lk 24:35), that is, gives Himself to us in Holy Communion,
* we receive the Holy Spirit in a new Pentecost, and
* we witness for Jesus (see Acts 1:8; Lk 24:48).
The beginning of a real Easter is to hear God's Word so that our hearts are burning with purifying fire (Lk 24:32). As long as God's Word is being proclaimed, we can expect that all the other aspects of recognizing the risen Christ will happen, because God's Word is not only a beginning but a catalyst. "God's word is living and effective" (Heb 4:12). It does not return empty, but achieves the end for which it was sent (Is 55:11). Therefore, if we focus on proclaiming God's Word, we can expect a chain-reaction leading to many people recognizing the risen Christ and living for Him.
This helps us understand why the early Church was preoccupied with spreading God's Word. "Day after day, both in the temple and at home, they never stopped teaching and proclaiming the good news of Jesus the Messiah" (Acts 5:42). The apostles concentrated "on prayer and the ministry of the word" (Acts 6:4). "The word of God continued to spread" (Acts 6:7; see also 12:24; 19:20).
Hear, read, live, and share God's Word daily. Thus you will live the risen life and introduce many others to the risen Christ.
Prayer: Father, may I proclaim Your Word in good times and in bad (see 2 Tm 4:2).
Promise: "Reform your lives! Turn to God, that your sins may be wiped away! Thus may a season of refreshment be granted you by the Lord." -Acts 3:19-20
Praise: Praise You, Jesus, my Redeemer, Rock, and Refuge!

Presentation Ministries website update
Happy Easter!
We apologize that our website has been down recently. It is a bad time for us and we ask for your prayers for those who are working to get it back online. On Good Friday the site went completely dead due to some corrupt files and we are still awaiting the resurrection which I ask you to pray it will be soon.
God bless,
Chris

HE DIED FOR ME
He was "smitten for the sin of His people." -Isaiah 53:8
Jesus died for my sins, I who consider myself among the worst of sinners (1 Tm 1:15). He was pierced for my offenses, crushed for my sins (Is 53:5). In the face of such sacrificial, redeeming, committed, unconditional love, I have sometimes reacted selfishly and sinfully toward the One Who gave His life for me, instead of responding to His unconditional love with trusting abandon.
Yet, Lord Jesus, instead of abandoning me when I turned my back on You, You proved Your love by letting Your face shine on me and saving me in Your love (Ps 31:17). Jesus, You died for me while I was still a sinner (Rm 5:8), before I repented. You came to earth and sympathized with my weaknesses, so I could feel confident in approaching You for forgiveness (Heb 4:16). You saved me (Ti 3:6).
No wonder the Church calls today "Good Friday." What good news for sinners like me, that Jesus died to save all, you and me! "Into Your hands I commend my spirit" (Ps 31:6).
Prayer: Jesus, nail me to the cross with You so that I can never turn away from You again.
Promise: "He became the Source of eternal salvation for all who obey Him." -Heb 5:9
Praise: (none)

A LIFE OF EUCHARISTIC LOVE
"This is My body, which is for you. Do this in remembrance of Me." -1 Corinthians 11:24
Through this book, One Bread, One Body, we encourage you to go to Mass and receive Holy Communion daily or as often as possible. By these teachings on the daily eucharistic readings, we hope to lead you not only to go to Mass but to live the Mass in your everyday life. We want to help send out into the world millions of walking tabernacles who will be light and salt (Mt 5:13-14), to permeate even our culture of death with the gospel of Jesus Christ (see Catechism, 899).
Therefore, put daily Mass "at the head" of your schedule (see Ex 12:2). Make it your top priority. Even if you have been betrayed (see 1 Cor 11:23) and sinned against, don't let the devil rob you of your joy, the Eucharist. By God's grace, forgive and be reconciled (see Mt 5:23-24). As you receive the Body and Blood of Jesus, "offer your bodies as a living sacrifice holy and acceptable to God" (Rm 12:1). Make any sacrifices necessary to receive the eucharistic Jesus daily. Some Christians throughout the world are privileged to be even martyred for their eucharistic love. Finally, worship the eucharistic Jesus in adoration of the Blessed Sacrament and by washing Jesus' feet and serving (see Jn 13:5) Him in "the least of the brethren" (Mt 25:40, our translation) in Christian community.
Prayer: Father, send the Holy Spirit to teach me (Rm 8:26) to pray the Mass always (see Lk 18:1).
Promise: "This day shall be a memorial feast for you, which all your generations shall celebrate with pilgrimage to the Lord, as a perpetual institution." -Ex 12:14
Praise: "O Sacrament most holy, O Sacrament divine, all praise and all thanksgiving be every moment Thine."
(For related teaching, order our booklet, "This Is My Body".)

THE TRIDUUM
"The disciples then did as Jesus had ordered, and prepared the Passover supper." -Matthew 26:19
Today we celebrate the last Mass of Lent. We pray that these forty days of fasting, prayer, and sacrifice have prepared us for the Triduum. "The Easter Triduum begins with the Evening Mass of the Lord's Supper, reaches its high point in the Easter Vigil, and closes with evening prayer Easter Sunday" (Ordo, see also General Norms, 19). The Triduum is essentially a seventy-hour worship service with breaks for rest and other necessities. Jesus is saying to you: "My appointed time draws near. I am to celebrate the Passover with My disciples in your house" (Mt 26:18). Is your heart prepared to celebrate the Triduum in the crucified and risen Christ?
In the Triduum, we enter into the mystery of Trinitarian love and the plan of our redemption. In the Triduum, we enter into "a mysterious, a hidden wisdom" (1 Cor 2:7). "Of this wisdom it is written: 'Eye has not seen, ear has not heard, nor has it so much as dawned on man what God has prepared for those who love Him' " (1 Cor 2:9). Are you prepared for what He has prepared for you? Are you repentant of every sin? Have you forgiven everyone for every sin committed against you? Have you confessed your sins in the Sacrament of Reconciliation? Are you prepared for the first Communion of the Triduum tomorrow evening at the Mass of the Last Supper? Are you living and dying for love of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit?
Prayer: Father, it is no longer I who live but Christ Who lives in me (Gal 2:20).
Promise: "I have set my face like flint, knowing that I shall not be put to shame." -Is 50:7
Praise: Margaret organized an all-night vigil to get prepared for Easter.

THE GORY IN GLORY
"Jesus," reclining, "grew deeply troubled." -John 13:21
During Holy Week, we recall a week of extreme suffering, pain, and trauma for Jesus. As we reflect on Jesus' sufferings, we too may be having an extremely difficult week. As we look at our lives, we may feel we have "toiled in vain, and for nothing, uselessly, spent" our strength (Is 49:4). Like Jesus, we may grow "deeply troubled" (Jn 13:21). We are tempted to let Satan enter our hearts (see Jn 13:27), or we are broken-hearted because others have let Satan enter their hearts. Spiritually speaking, we may be going through the night (see Jn 13:30) of spiritual warfare where the prince of darkness (see Eph 6:12) seems to be reigning.
When Jesus suffered all this distress and Judas had left to betray Him (Jn 13:31), Jesus did not cower in fear or have a pity party. Rather, He proclaimed: "Now is the Son of Man glorified and God is glorified in Him. [If God has been glorified in Him,] God will, in turn, glorify Him in Himself, and will glorify Him soon" (Jn 13:31-32). In the deeper holiness which we are receiving this Holy Week, let us proclaim with Jesus that, especially in the midst of terrible suffering, God the Father will be glorified through our lives. "In His temple all say, 'Glory!' " (Ps 29:9)
Prayer: "Glory be to the Father, to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit as it was in the beginning, is now and ever shall be, world without end. Amen."
Promise: "I will make you a light to the nations, that My salvation may reach to the ends of the earth." -Is 49:6
Praise: "We adore You, O Christ, and we praise You because by Your holy cross You have redeemed the world."

"Wait for the Lord with courage; be stouthearted, and wait for the Lord." -Psalm 27:14
We wait for what we cannot see; the return of the Master seems to take so long. We wait with courage, not in doubt. We wait not because there is no other alternative but because we faithfully choose to persevere in hope while waiting for the Master to appear (see Mt 25:1ff).
We call people who serve in a restaurant "waiters." The waiter serves us. Thus, serving the Lord and His people is a big part of our waiting. We don't wait passively, but in active service.
We wait in love. Jacob waited and served seven years for the hand of his beloved Rachel, but they seemed like a few days to him because of his love for her (Gn 29:17-20). An ardent love changes the waiting from a drudgery into a delightful anticipation of the coming of our Savior Jesus Christ. As the song says: "If it takes forever, I will wait for you."
We wait in hope, joyful hope. Ours is a living hope (1 Pt 1:3), alive, vibrant, joyful. We want to wait with a living hope, and not to be "among the living dead" (1 Jn 3:14).
Our entire life is one of waiting for the Lord (Ps 27:14). Like the five wise virgins, we wait full of the oil of the Spirit (Mt 25:4). In summary, we wait for the Lord by waiting with service, courage, love, hope, and fullness. We wait by living an abundant life, a life to the full (Jn 10:10).
When we wait like this, in a sense, we already have what we are waiting for. Wait for the Lord by waiting on the Lord.
Prayer: Father, I will wait in joyful hope for the coming of My Savior, Jesus Christ.
Promise: "I, the Lord, have called you for the victory of justice." -Is 42:6
Praise: Bob laid hands on Rachel at a healing service, and the Lord healed her of the infirmity which confined her to a wheelchair.
