January 7th The Epiphany
Jesus, this Sunday we celebrate Your manifestation among us to
the whole world.
Please help us to truly realize that "God is with us" should really
be taken personally and realize that You are truly with us.
Loving and helping and bringing us slowly into Your everlasting
kingdom.
Help us to live lives that give glory and honor to You.
Help us bring others into Your church through the loving care
that we show to them by our life style.
Let them see You in us.
Amen and Amen.
Thank You Lord, for loving us totally.

Sunday HEROD UNDERSTOOD

The wise men "from the east arrived one day in Jerusalem inquiring, 'Where is the newborn king of the
Jews? We observed His star at its rising and have come to pay Him homage.' At this news King Herod
became greatly disturbed, and with him all Jerusalem." -Matthew 2:1-3
Herod understood the significance of Jesus' birth. He knew that he had to join the wise men and "go
and offer [Jesus] homage too" (Mt 2:8). Jesus' birth means we must either surrender our lives to
Jesus or declare war on Him. We either live no longer for ourselves but for Him (2 Cor 5:15), or we
make a violent, pathetic attempt to keep Jesus from living any longer. We die to self (see Jn 12:24)
or try to make Him die.
Herod understood that the consequences of Jesus' birth would be Calvary. There is a competition for
allegiance to "the newborn King of the Jews" (Mt 2:2) and of the world. We will either decide to be
crucified to the world (Gal 6:14) or decide to crucify the King of the world. There's not enough room
in this world for your ego and the incarnate Son of God. One or the other has got to go.
Dethrone yourself and enthrone Jesus as your King, Savior, and Lord. Be a wise man or woman.
Otherwise you will have no choice other than to be a Herod. Be one of the wise men and women.
Prostrate yourself and humble yourself before Jesus (Mt 2:11; 23:12). Happy Epiphany!
Prayer: "Lord, every nation on earth will adore You" (today's Psalm response).
Promise: "Your light has come, the glory of the Lord shines upon you. See, darkness covers the earth,
and thick clouds cover the peoples; but upon you the Lord shines, and over you appears His glory.
Nations shall walk by your light, and kings by your shining radiance." -Is 60:1-3
Praise: Jesus still reveals Himself to wise men and wise women. Praise You, Jesus, Wisdom incarnate
(1 Cor 1:30). Alleluia!

Rejoice Sisters and give God immense thanks! We have by the Awesome Grace of God secured the
release our Six Sisters who were abducted almost two months ago! Thank God our worst fears never
came to pass. All six of them are unharmed. God is God even when our ordeals seem unending. May

Prayers are requested for a young mother of 38 with two little kids who had been diagnosed as
having a brain tumor. The operation is very dangerous. She has great faith and a fervent lady.
Let us pray that her faith will bring a miracle and that her tumor will vanish, Prayers are also
requested for my nephew to find a good partner soon as he is ageing. thank you God bless you.

Bible Telephone Line
The Bible Telephone Line (BTL) has been in operation for 26 years. Begun by Fr. Al in 1991, it now
continues with one deacon of the Archdiocese of Indianapolis and two lay teachers trained by
Presentation Ministries. The BTL provides callers with a short teaching on the readings for the
daily Mass. It is available 24 hours a day and 7 days a week. Callers may also leave a short prayer
request which will be shared on the line with the other callers the next day on a separate line.

MAKING PROGRESS
