September 8th 23rd Sunday in ordinary time.
Almighty God, Your plan of salvation started with the birth of the "new ark of the covenent" Mary or mother,
that the church celebrates this week.
Jesus, Your son, needed a pure vessel in which to be born into, and so You chose Mary, and she accepted and
so became the mother of Jesus.
How blessed we are to have such a woman of love who constantly intercedes for us always.
Thank You, Father, for Your perfect plan which worked out in and through Jesus, who died on the cross that
we might have life everlasting.
Thank You for loving us always.
Amen and Amen.
Thank You Lord, for loving us totally.

Sunday THE CONSEQUENCES OF LUKEWARM CHRISTIANITY

"If one of you decides to build a tower, will he not first sit down and calculate the outlay to see if he
has enough money to complete the project?" -Luke 14:28
To be disciples of Christ, we must make the radical decision of totally giving ourselves to the Lord. If we
decide to do anything less, our Christian lives will be unfinished, and we will be ridiculed and defeated
(Lk 14:29ff).
Some Christians in the USA have not made a total commitment to Christ. So they, especially Catholic
Christians, are repeatedly portrayed as fools by the media. Moreover, one of the most important works of
most Christians is to make disciples of their children. Countless Christian parents have not finished this
work, for their adult children are not committed to the Lord. They have been defeated by the world, the
flesh, and the devil, and their children are the major casualties of this war.
We have ample evidence of the dire consequences of making less than a total commitment to the Lord. Yet
"the deliberations of mortals are timid, and unsure are our plans" (Wis 9:14). We need the "Holy Spirit
from on high" (Wis 9:17) to confirm us in faith so that we will decide to live for the Lord totally and
radically. Come, Holy Spirit!
Prayer: Father, I repent of giving You anything less than everything.
Promise: "I did not want to do anything without your consent, that kindness might not be forced on you
but might be freely bestowed." -Phlm 14
Praise: All praise and all thanksgiving be to You, risen Lord Jesus. By your death and resurrection, You
have saved the world. Alleluia!

cure my husband of his back injury and leg pain/restless leg. PLEASE keep promises over my husband. I
believe in the healing power of faith and prayer and I ask You to begin Your mighty work in the life of my
husband. Please reach down and surround my husband with peace and strength and give him the faith to
believe that all things are possible for you. Protect him from discouragement and let his healing begin.

Bible Telephone Line
The Bible Telephone Line (BTL) has been in operation for 27 years. Begun by Fr. Al in 1991, it now
continues with one deacon of the Archdiocese of Indianapolis and two lay teachers trained by
Presentation Ministries. The BTL provides callers with a short teaching on the readings for the
daily Mass. It is available 24 hours a day and 7 days a week. Callers may also leave a short prayer
request which will be shared on the line with the other callers the next day on a separate line.

"HOPES OF MILLIONS"
The annual celebration of World Food Day emphasizes ... the needs, yearnings and hopes of millions of
persons who lack bread each day. Increasingly, there are more people who sadly make up part of that great
number of human beings who have nothing, or almost nothing to eat. It should be the opposite and yet
recent statistics are a painful proof of how international solidarity appears to be cooling.
"EFFECTIVE HELP"
The poor expect from us an effective help that takes them out of their misery... In this twenty-first
century that has seen considerable advances in the field of technology, science, communications and
infrastructure, we ought to feel shame for not having achieved the same advances in humanity and
solidarity, and so satisfy the primary needs of the most disadvantaged.
"WE MUST DO BETTER"
We are all called to go further. We can and we must do better for the helpless. We must move to concrete
action, so that the scourge of hunger disappears completely.
