THE CELEBRATION

"I am to celebrate the Passover with My disciples in your house." —Matthew
26:18

Jesus states His intention to celebrate the Passover and the whole Paschal
mystery in our houses, families, communities, and lives. We must prepare
for the celebration of Holy Thursday, Good Friday, Easter Vigil, and the
fifty-day Easter season. We prepare by:
* doing what Jesus orders (Mt 26:19),
* letting Jesus open our ears morning after morning (Is 50:4),
* not rebelling against the Lord (Is 50:5),
* suffering for love of Him (see Is 50:6),
* letting zeal for God's house consume us (Ps 69:10),
* praising "the name of God in song" (Ps 69:31).

Today is the last full day of Lent. We pray that our almsgiving, prayer,
and fasting have prepared us for the Triduum and the Easter season. Let's
bring Lent to a close by repenting of all sins, forgiving all who have
hurt us, and giving our lives totally to the Lord. "Let us celebrate the
feast not with the old yeast, that of corruption and wickedness, but with
the unleavened bread of sincerity and truth" (1 Cor 5:8).

Prayer: Father, may my observance of Lent 1995 be what the Holy Spirit
wants in these crucial times.

Promise: "See, you lowly ones, and be glad; you who seek God, may your
hearts be merry! For the Lord hears the poor, and His own who are in bonds
He spurns not." —Ps 69:33-34

Praise: Praise Jesus, Rock of our salvation. "To Him be glory forever" (Rm
11:36).

THE VICTIM - One Bread, One Body, 3/30/2010

Tuesday, March 30, 2010, Holy Week

Isaiah 49:1-6, Psalm 71:1-6, 15, 17, John 13:21-33, 36-38

THE VICTIM

"I tell you solemnly, one of you will betray Me." —John 13:21

Jesus knew that one of His apostles would betray Him by selling Him for
thirty pieces of silver and handing Him over to the authorities. When
Jesus announced that He would be betrayed, He saw that the apostles were
more curious and selfish than concerned about Him. Next, Jesus heard Peter
shooting off his mouth about how he would never deny Him (Jn 13:37). Then
Jesus left the Last Supper and suffered through His agony in the garden.
He asked three apostles to stay awake and pray, but they all fell asleep.
Judas betrayed Jesus with a kiss, and all the apostles deserted Jesus and
fled (Mk 14:50). Finally, Jesus was mocked, scourged, and crucified. "He
was pierced for our offenses, crushed for our sins, upon Him was the
chastisement that makes us whole, by His stripes we were healed" (Is
53:5). As Jesus breathed His last, He screamed: " 'Eloi, Eloi, lama
sabachthani?' which means 'My God, My God, why have You forsaken Me?' "
(Mk 15:34)

Jesus was the most victimized, rejected, and abused Person ever. No matter
how badly you have been abused, He understands your pain. He will give you
the grace to forgive, to be forgiven, and to be healed. Jesus loves you
more than you love yourself. He suffered for you. He was no victim of
circumstances, but a Victim of love.

Prayer: Father, may I take personally the sufferings of Jesus.

Promise: "I will make you a light to the nations, that My salvation may
reach to the ends of the earth." —Is 49:6

Praise: Praise You, Jesus, Victim of love. You died to reconcile us
sinners to the Father (Rm 5:10). I worship you.

CHANEL #5 - One Bread, One Body, 3/29/2010

Monday, March 29, 2010, Holy Week

Isaiah 42:1-7, Psalm 27:1-3, 13-14, John 12:1-11

CHANEL #5

"Mary brought a pound of costly perfume made from genuine aromatic nard,
with which she anointed Jesus' feet. Then she dried His feet with her
hair, and the house was filled with the ointment's fragrance." —John 12:3

Yesterday, Jesus heard sweet acclamations of "Hosanna." Today He hears
happy sounds of a meal shared with people who love Him dearly. In a few
days, Jesus will hear the screams and curses of a raging mob shouting,
"Crucify Him!" (Mt 27:22) Today Jesus feels the tender loving touch of
smooth ointment and soft hair on His feet. In a few days, He will feel the
painful pierce of metal nails in His feet.

So many people would be abusing Jesus' body a few short days after He ate
with Mary, Martha, and Lazarus. Mary anointed Jesus' feet, which would
soon be pierced with nails, and dried His feet with her hair. She did
Jesus a kindness (Mk 14:6). She did what she could to love and comfort
Jesus (Mk 14:8). Her loving acts toward Jesus filled the house. In a few
days, Jesus will smell the smoke of a charcoal fire (Jn 18:19). His chosen
leader and friend, Simon Peter, will deny that he even knows Jesus while
standing by this fire.

This is the week of decision. Now is the acceptable time! Now is the day
of salvation! (2 Cor 6:2) What is Jesus feeling, smelling, seeing from
your life? Are you crucifying Him again (Heb 6:6) and adding to His pain?
Or are you doing Him a kindness?

Repent deeply of causing Jesus any pain. Adore His Eucharistic body and
receive Him in Holy Communion daily or as often as possible. Treat the
members of His body, "the small and the great" (Rv 19:5), and the least of
our brethren, with esteem (1 Pt 2:17). Do the body of Jesus a kindness (Mk
14:6).

Prayer: Jesus, make me a "sweet-smelling oblation to" You (Lv 2:9).

Promise: "The Lord is my Light and My Salvation." —Ps 27:1

Praise: Praise You, Jesus, the Chosen, Beloved One (Jn 1:34; Lk 3:22).
"You are the Son of God" (Jn 1:49).

PM eNewsletter Passion Sunday

March 28th Passion Sunday

Jesus, with what love, you have loved us.

You gave Your life, that we would have eternal life, and You gave
us Your Body and Blood, as the food of life.

This week, we commemorate Your passion and death, and your
institution of the Eucharist.

What a plan the Father had for us, that You, the true sacrifice of
redemption, was offered as a never ending eternal gift of
forgivness of sin.

Your suffering paid the price for all of us, for all time.

Amen and Amen.

Thank you Lord, for loving us totally.

One Bread, One Body

This weeks readings and reflections

Sunday SHOCK TREATMENTS
http://presentationministries.com/obob/obob.asp?d=3/28/2010

"He emptied Himself and took the form of a slave, being born in the
likeness of men. He was known to be of human estate, and it was
thus that He humbled Himself, obediently accepting even death,
death on a cross!" —Philippians 2:7-8

Today the Church tries to shock us into repentance by contrasting
the "Hosanna" of Palm Sunday with the "Crucify Him" of Good Friday.
How can human beings be so perverse as to viciously murder God
Himself, the perfectly loving and innocent Jesus? How can we be so
unfaithful and violent?

Our abuse of the Savior definitely proves we need a savior. In this
Holy Week, we must repent and radically change our lives. Like the
good thief, we must change from blasphemy (see Mt 27:44) to
commitment. Like the centurion, we must no longer rationalize our
sins but admit that Jesus is innocent and we are guilty of putting to
death the innocent God-Man (Lk 23:47; Catechism, 598). In
confessing our sins, we will give glory to God (see Lk 23:47).

Like Joseph of Arimathea, we can repent of giving in to fear and
being a "secret" disciple of Jesus (Jn 19:38). During this Holy Week,
we can become another Simon of Cyrene and carry the daily cross
(Lk 9:23) with Jesus. The way of the cross is over for Jesus but
continues for us. Holy Week is now. Repentance is now.

Notable quotations from Pope Benedict XVI and official
teachings of the Roman Catholic Church

WITNESS AWAKENS VOCATIONS

LOVE AND COMMUNION

The Second Vatican Council, in speaking of the witness that awakens
vocations, emphasizes the example of charity and of fraternal
cooperation that priests must offer...

"PRECIOUS LEGACY"

It can be said that priestly vocations are born of contact with priests,
as a sort of precious legacy handed down by word, example and a
whole way of life. The same can be said with regard to the
consecrated life.

"THE JOY OF SERVING CHRIST"

Every priest, every consecrated person, faithful to his or her vocation,
radiates the joy of serving Christ and draws all Christians to respond
to the universal call to holiness.

NUMBER ONE - One Bread, One Body, 3/27/2010

NUMBER ONE

"I will make them one." —Ezekiel 37:22

A week from tonight we will celebrate Easter Vigil, the glorious beginning
of the Easter season. We have been fasting, giving alms, and praying for
over thirty days. As Jesus did in the desert, we have overcome many
temptations of the evil one this Lent. We have also gone to Confession and
repented of our sins.

What is the point of all God has done in our lives this Lent? The Lord
intends "to bring all things in the heavens and on earth into one under
Christ's headship" (Eph 1:10). Jesus died on the cross "to gather into one
all the dispersed children of God" (Jn 11:52). "There is but one body and
one Spirit, just as there is but one hope given all of you by your call.
There is one Lord, one faith, one baptism; one God and Father of all" (Eph
4:4-6). At this moment, Jesus is praying that we would be one as He and
the Father are one (Jn 17:21). Then the world will believe that the Father
has sent Jesus (Jn 17:21).

Lent should result in a deeper unity with God our Father through Jesus and
in the Spirit. As we near the end of Lent, we should be more united than
ever to the Church, our brothers and sisters in Christ, spouses, parents,
children, and friends. We must be of "one heart and one mind" (Acts 4:32)
to bear witness with power "to the resurrection of the Lord Jesus" (Acts
4:33).

Prayer: Father, purify me "from every defilement of flesh and spirit" so
that I will "strive to fulfill" my "consecration perfectly" (2 Cor 7:1).

Promise: "Many of the Jews who had come to visit Mary, and had seen what
Jesus did...put their faith in Him." —Jn 11:45

Praise: Louis went to church with his wife to keep the peace and there
found the Prince of Peace.

video V-3A.)

"DOWN BY THE RIVERSIDE" - One Bread, One Body, 3/26/2010

Friday, March 26, 2010

Jeremiah 20:10-13, Psalm 18:2-7, John 10:31-42
Link to Readings --> http://www.usccb.org/nab/032610.shtml

"DOWN BY THE RIVERSIDE"

"In that place, many came to believe in Him." —John 10:42

In the temple, at Solomon's Portico, Jesus was rejected. Many people
reached for rocks to stone Him (Jn 10:31). They also tried to arrest Him
(Jn 10:39). Jesus "eluded their grasp" and "went back across the Jordan to
the place where John had been baptizing earlier" (Jn 10:39-40). "In that
place, many came to believe in Him."

Why was Jesus not accepted in the holy place, the temple, but believed in
"down by the riverside"? It was because John had been administering his
baptism of repentance "down by the riverside." Wherever there is
repentance, there is faith. Where there is no repentance, Jesus is
rejected and His Church persecuted.

If we have had a Lent of repentance, then we will have an Easter of faith.
If our Lent is lacking repentance, however, our Easter will not be
pleasing to God. We will even be used consciously or unconsciously to
hinder God's work. Therefore, we must repent. Even if we have let sin
blind us to our need for repentance, we must ask the Lord to break through
our spiritual blindness, convict us of our sins, and empower us to repent.

"Repent: the kingdom of God is at hand" (Mk 1:15, our transl.).

GOD, BABY, MAN, AND LOVE - One Bread, One Body, 3/25/2010

GOD, BABY, MAN, AND LOVE

"The Holy Spirit will come upon you and the power of the Most High will
overshadow you; hence, the holy Offspring to be born will be called Son of
God." —Luke 1:35

"The Word became flesh" (Jn 1:14). This is a most shocking revelation. We
believe that the almighty, all-holy God, Who created an awesome universe
spanning millions of light-years, became a human being smaller than your
thumbnail. We believe God was implanted in the uterus of a teenager named
Mary. We believe God had to have His diaper changed, talked baby-talk,
fell on His rear end when He tried to walk, slobbered on His
foster-father, spat up on His mother, nursed at Mary's breast, and threw
His food on the floor. Christianity is the only world religion that
believes God became man. The Incarnation seems blasphemous to
non-Christian religions.

Christianity is also the only world religion which believes in a personal
relationship with God. For human beings, a personal relationship is only
possible with other human beings. To personally relate to someone, we need
someone whom we are able to touch, hear, and see. Only when God became Man
was it possible to have a personal relationship with Him.

Our personal relationship with God began with the Incarnation and
continues through the Holy Spirit even after the ascension of Christ's
physical body into heaven. The Holy Spirit puts us in touch with the
person of Jesus through Christ's body, the Church, and the sacraments,
especially Jesus' body and blood in the Eucharist. Today's feast day, the
Annunciation, celebrates the beginning of love that comes only in a
personal relationship. Praise Jesus, Who is God, Man, and Love! (1 Jn
4:16)

Prayer: Father, inspire me to fall down in worship when I hear the words:
"The Word became flesh."

Promise: "A body You have prepared for Me." —Heb 10:5

Praise: Praise You, Jesus, "Son of the Most High." Great is Your dignity
and power (Lk 1:32).

"FREE AT LAST" - One Bread, One Body, 3/24/2010

Wednesday, March 24, 2010

Daniel 3:14-20, 91-92, 95, Daniel 3:52-56, John 8:31-42
Link to Readings --> http://www.usccb.org/nab/032410.shtml

"FREE AT LAST"

"The truth will set you free." —John 8:32

To begin the process of becoming free, we must first believe in Jesus (see
Jn 8:30). Our belief must be so deep that we obediently live according to
the Lord's teaching (Jn 8:31). Furthermore, our obedience should be so
complete that we truly become Jesus' disciples (Jn 8:31), that is, we obey
Jesus to the point of denying our very selves and taking up the cross each
day (Lk 9:23). Finally, true disciples of Jesus have true, committed,
loyal, faithful relationships with Him, the Father, the Spirit, the
Church, our family members, our leaders, etc. In these true relationships,
we eventually find true freedom (Jn 8:32).

Freedom is not independence, but dependence on God and interdependence on
others. Freedom is not selfishly doing our own thing, but unselfishly
doing God's thing. Freedom is not giving "free rein to the flesh" (Gal
5:13). The worldly life of the flesh is nothing but thinly disguised
slavery. True freedom is not being a slave to our human desires but a
slave to Jesus (see Rm 6:16). There is no such thing as total freedom.
When we choose one thing, we automatically are not free to do other
things. However, there is maximum freedom. This is not attained by
believing the lies of the world, but by believing in Jesus, the Truth (see
Jn 14:6). No one is born free, but all can be born again free. Be free
from sin, selfish independence, and manipulation by carnal desires. Be
freed by and in Jesus.

Prayer: Father, this Lent may I take a giant step forward to freedom.

Promise: "They disobeyed the royal command and yielded their bodies rather
than serve or worship any god except their own God." —Dn 3:95

Praise: Set free by Jesus from drug addiction, James witnesses to all
about the grace of the Savior.

EVANGELIZATION AND LENT

"Because He spoke this way, many came to believe in Him." —John 8:30

Jesus told people they would die in their sins unless they believed that
He was God (Jn 8:24). Like the Israelites who were bitten by the saraph
serpents, humanity is sentenced to death and damnation unless it looks
with faith on Jesus (see Nm 21:8; Jn 3:14). People desperately need to
know and love Jesus.

Although the greatest need of every person is to believe in Jesus and
although He commanded us to be His witnesses, many Christians don't share
their faith in Jesus with others. One of the main purposes of this Lent is
to change that. Lent is the imitation of Jesus when He was led by the
Spirit into the desert to fast for forty days and overcome the temptations
of the evil one. When Jesus emerged from that desert, He "returned in the
power of the Spirit to Galilee" (Lk 4:14), where He proclaimed the good
news of redemption (see Lk 4:18).

In imitation of Jesus, we should leave the Lenten desert and proclaim the
good news of life in Jesus. We should acknowledge that our refusal to
evangelize is sinful. We should repent, go to Confession, and share our
faith. We should ask others to pray that the obstacles to evangelization
in our lives be removed. We exist to evangelize (On Evangelization, Pope
Paul VI, 14). Our Lenten repentance must result in Easter evangelization.

Prayer: Father, may I evangelize as if I had seen with my own eyes Jesus'
death on the cross.

Promise: "Moses accordingly made a bronze serpent and mounted it on a
pole, and whenever anyone who had been bitten by a serpent looked at the
bronze serpent, he recovered." —Nm 21:9

Praise: St. Turibius, bishop of Peru for twenty-five years, counteracted
others' poor examples of Christianity by founding hospitals and religious
houses.

RESIST SEXUAL SIN

"It is better for me to fall into your power without guilt than to sin
before the Lord." —Daniel 13:23

Susanna risked her life to avoid sexual sin (Dn 13:23ff). Joseph spent
years in prison because he resisted sexual temptation (Gn 39:7ff). We are
commanded to fight all temptations to the point of having our blood shed
(Heb 12:4). Then Jesus tells us to so strongly resist the temptation to
look at someone lustfully that we would cut off our hand or gouge out our
eye if necessary (Mt 5:28-30). Jesus does not mean this literally but
clearly emphasizes we should strongly resist sexual temptations.

This emphasis on strong resistance to sexual temptations is not accepted
by many Christians today. Prime-time TV is filled with sexual temptations,
but we watch anyway. We don't hear much preaching or exhortation about
overcoming sexual sins such as masturbation or sexual fantasies. Teachings
against artificial birth control are not often proclaimed from the pulpit.
Some Christians even permit such abominations as abortion or homosexual
acts. They don't realize they're in danger of choosing eternal separation
from God.

"Can you not realize that the unholy will not fall heir to the kingdom of
God? Do not deceive yourselves: no fornicators, idolators, or adulterers,
no sodomites...will inherit God's kingdom" (1 Cor 6:9-10). Only those
determined to fight will conquer Satan. Fight strongly all sexual
temptations.

Prayer: Father, this Lent give many of our readers victories over sexual
sins that have plagued them for years.

Promise: "I am the light of the world. No follower of Mine shall ever walk
in darkness; no, he shall possess the light of life." —Jn 8:12

Praise: The Biggs purposely do not own a TV set so that they may remain
more focused on Christ.

One Bread, One Body

This weeks readings and reflections

Sunday THE PRAYER FOR SUFFERING
http://presentationministries.com/obob/obob.asp?d=3/21/2010

"I wish to know Christ and the power flowing from His resurrection;
likewise to know how to share in His sufferings by being formed
into the pattern of His death." —Philippians 3:10

The Lord calls us to pray to be freed from suffering to be freed for
suffering. We must pray for healing, deliverance, victory, and peace.
We pray to remove sufferings that are not God's will to help us
accept sufferings that are. Therefore, after praying to be freed from
suffering, we should pray "to know how to share in [Christ's]
sufferings by being formed into the pattern of His death" (Phil 3:10).

This prayer to know how to share in Christ's sufferings is rarely
prayed. Only those deeply in love with Christ are open to this prayer.
To pray for suffering, love must be more important to us than self.
We must love Jesus so much we prefer to suffer with Him rather
than to enjoy ourselves without Him. Because of love, we consider
Jesus more important to us than pleasure, and we even value
suffering insofar as it is in union with Christ.

We proclaim: "I have come to rate all as loss in the light of the
surpassing knowledge of my Lord Jesus Christ. For His sake I have
forfeited everything; I have accounted all else rubbish so that Christ
may be my Wealth and I may be in Him" (Phil 3:8-9). Rejoice in the
sufferings of Lent "in the measure that you share Christ's
sufferings" (1 Pt 4:13).

Notable quotations from Pope Benedict XVI and official
teachings of the Roman Catholic Church

WITNESS AWAKENS VOCATIONS

"RESPOND GENEROUSLY"

The fruitfulness of our efforts to promote vocations depends
primarily on God's free action, yet ... it is also helped by the
quality and depth of the personal and communal witness of
those who have already answered the Lord's call to the
ministerial priesthood and the consecrated life for their
witness is then able to awaken in others a desire to respond
generously to Christ's call.

PRAYER AND VOCATIONS

Prayer is the first form of witness which awakens vocations.

COMPLETE GIFT TO GOD

In following Jesus, everyone called to a life of special
consecration must do his utmost to testify that he has
given himself completely to God.

LOVING ENEMIES - One Bread, One Body, 3/20/2010

Saturday, March 20, 2010

Jeremiah 11:18-20, Psalm 7:2-3, 9-12, John 7:40-53
Link to Readings --> http://www.usccb.org/nab/032010.shtml

LOVING ENEMIES

"My God, in You I take refuge." —Psalm 7:2

When Jeremiah realized people were plotting to kill him, he "prayed" to
the Lord: "Let me witness the vengeance You take on them" (Jer 12:20).
When Jesus was plotted against by His enemies and crucified, He also
prayed while hanging on the cross: "Father forgive them; they do not know
what they are doing" (Lk 23:34).

Unlike Jeremiah, Jesus did not seek His enemies' death but their
salvation. He loved His enemies so much that He died in their place and
gave them the opportunity for eternal life with Him. No one loves enemies
except Jesus and His disciples. When we love our enemies, we prove we're
Jesus' disciples and children of the heavenly Father (Mt 5:45). Jesus
loves enemies by running out to meet them, throwing His arms around them
and kissing them, giving them presents, and throwing a party in their
honor (see Lk 15:20ff).

Jesus treats His enemies better than His friends. To the world this is
absurd and impossible. Even if we wanted to do it, we couldn't. However,
the Lord will do the impossible. He will do for us and in us one of His
greatest miracles — the miracle of love for our enemies. Instead of
praying for our enemies' death or for a way to avoid being around them, we
should pray for an unconditional, merciful, forgiving, miraculous love for
them.

Prayer: Father, beginning this Lent may I love the person who has hurt me
the most.

Promise: "No man ever spoke like that before." —Jn 7:46

Praise: After attending a healing service, Ann was counseled to frequently
recite the Prayer to St. Michael, which she did with fruitful results.

"FATHER-FOREVER" (see Is 9:5) - One Bread, One Body, 3/19/2010

Friday, March 19, 2010, St. Joseph

2 Samuel 7:4-5, 12-14, 16, Romans 4:13, 16-18, 22, Psalm 89:2-5, 27, 29,
Matthew 1:16, 18-21, 24, or Luke 2:41-51

"FATHER-FOREVER" (see Is 9:5)

"I will be a Father to Him, and He shall be a Son to Me." —2 Samuel 7:14

Both the title of this teaching and the above Scripture refer to the Lord
and not to St. Joseph. However, both are aptly applied to Joseph. Joseph's
entire identity derived from his unique relationship to Jesus as the
foster-father of the Son of God.

Most men find their identity in their own prowess rather than from their
subordinate relationship to another person. Yet Joseph is identified in
Scripture as "the husband of Mary" (Mt 1:16), perhaps the only man in the
entire Bible identified this way. On the surface, it might seem from this
description that Joseph was a second-class man. However, Joseph took his
identity from his relationship with Jesus, and Mary was undeniably the
mother of Jesus. Joseph was linked to Jesus through Mary; hence, he is
described as Mary's husband to spotlight his unique relationship to Jesus.

I'm certain that St. Joseph is rejoicing in heaven whenever people refer
to him because of his link to Jesus rather than for his own sake. Joseph
found the meaning of life when Jesus entered his world (see Phil 1:21).
With great faith (Rm 4:16), Joseph subordinated his life to Jesus, serving
Him with love. In giving up his life for Jesus, Joseph found out who he
was (Mt 10:39).

With Joseph, let us live no longer for ourselves, but for Jesus (2 Cor
5:15). Live by faith in Jesus (Gal 2:20).

Prayer: Jesus, immerse me in You, surround me with You, consume me in Your
love (Heb 12:29).

Promise: "All depends on faith, everything is grace." —Rm 4:16

Praise: St. Joseph, as patron of the universal Church, truly exemplifies
the Scripture, "the humble shall be exalted" (see Mt 23:12).

"STANDING IN THE GAP" - One Bread, One Body, 3/18/2010

Thursday, March 18, 2010, St. Cyril of Jerusalem

Exodus 32:7-14, Psalm 106:19-23, John 5:31-47
Link to Readings --> http://www.usccb.org/nab/031810.shtml

"STANDING IN THE GAP"

"Then He spoke of exterminating them, but Moses, His chosen one, withstood
Him in the breach to turn back His destructive wrath." —Psalm 106:23

The Lord surrounds His people with an encircling wall of fire (Zec 2:9).
This protects us from the destructive attacks of the evil one. However,
when we sin and refuse to repent, we make a hole in this wall of
protection (see Ez 22:30). This hole is sometimes translated "gap" or
"breach." We then need someone like Moses to "stand in the gap" and
prevent God's wrath, that is, the effects of our sins, from consuming us
(Ex 32:10). Intercessors "stand in the gap" through prayer. They give us
more time to repent so we may avoid suffering the devastating effects of
our sins.

All of us by all rights should be suffering severe punishments due to our
sins. Our murderous country, covered with the blood of aborted babies,
should by all rights be destroyed. Abortionists, unprincipled politicians,
worldly religious leaders, unscrupulous businessmen, lukewarm Christians,
and others should all be paid the wages of sin, that is, death (Rm 6:23).
Moreover, in justice they should be punished now. However, intercessors
are prayerfully protecting people who have "left themselves wide open."
Intercessors are temporarily keeping this country from falling apart. They
are extending God's season of mercy and delaying His season of justice
(see Gn 18:23-32). Therefore, we should repent now and take advantage of
the opportunity which the world's intercessors have provided for us. Then
we should become intercessors ourselves.

Prayer: Father, first of all may I offer intercessions for those in
authority (1 Tm 2:1-2).

Promise: "If you believed Moses you would then believe Me, for it was
about Me that he wrote." —Jn 5:46

Praise: St. Cyril as bishop experienced exiles and banishments but always
persevered and remained faithful to God.

(Is the Lord calling you to help PM stand in the gap while He builds up
His army? Call 937-587-5464 to find out how you can help.)

"THE MAN UPSTAIRS"?

"It was the man who cured me..." —John 5:11

Jesus healed a man born blind (Jn 9:1ff). This man didn't know Jesus
previously. So when asked by the crowds who had healed him, he answered:
"that man they call Jesus" (Jn 9:11). Jesus also healed a man "who had
been sick for thirty-eight years" (Jn 5:5). This man also didn't know
Jesus previously. When asked by the crowds who had healed him, he
answered: "the man who cured me" (Jn 5:11). Both healed men began their
relationship with Jesus by regarding Him as merely a "man."

As the man born blind began to adjust to life with physical sight, his
eyes of faith also began to focus. He reflected joyfully on the miracle
Jesus had done in his life. Before long, he proclaimed publicly that Jesus
"is a Prophet" (Jn 9:17). His spiritual eyes grew sharper as he later
proclaimed, despite pressure from the Jewish leaders, that Jesus came from
God (Jn 9:33). Finally, upon seeing Jesus again, his spiritual eyesight
improved to perfect 20-20 vision. He fell down to worship Jesus,
professing Him as "Lord" (Jn 9:38; see also Rm 10:9).

Sadly, the man once sick for thirty-eight years never took the next step
in relating to Jesus. He only related to Jesus as a man. Jesus visited him
a second time, just as He re-visited the man born blind, to try to bring
him to the next level of faith in Him (see Jn 5:14; 9:35). Yet this man,
instead of coming to faith in Jesus, betrayed Him to the Jewish leaders
(Jn 5:15).

This Lent, Jesus is re-visiting you to lead you to greater faith in Him.
Will you take the next step, plunge into deep water (Ez 47:5), and accept
Jesus as Lord?

Prayer: Father, may I splash joyfully in Your rivers of grace. I immerse
myself in Your overflowing, outpoured love (Rm 5:5).

Promise: "The man was immediately cured." —Jn 5:9

Praise: Sarah clings to Jesus in faith as He calls her to serve in
increasingly more difficult circumstances.

"MAKING A BELIEVER OUT OF YOU"

"He and his whole household thereupon became believers." —John 4:53

"All depends on faith, everything is grace" (Rm 4:16). Therefore, Easter
depends on faith. Our resurrection from the dead depends on faith. Eternal
life depends on faith. Thus, we need a strong, ever-growing faith in the
person of Jesus. We believe, but we keep asking God to help our lack of
faith (Mk 9:24).

In today's Gospel reading, John may be making a distinction between
believing and being a believer. He writes that the royal official believed
Jesus' promise that his son would be healed and live (Jn 4:50). Yet, after
hearing of his son's healing the next day, this believing official became
a believer (Jn 4:53). How could he have become a believer when he already
believed unless believing and being a believer are not the same thing?

Everyone believes in certain aspects of Christianity. Even most atheists
believe in the humanitarian work of Christianity. Most people believe in
many Christian doctrines. They may even believe in the power of prayer.
Yet all this believing does not make these people "believers." Believers
don't just believe. They "walk by faith, not by sight" (2 Cor 5:7). They
no longer live their own life but "a life of faith in the Son of God" (Gal
2:20). For believers, faith is not an occasional experience but a way of
life. Don't just believe. Be a believer.

Prayer: Father, this Lent give me confident assurance about invisible
things (see Heb 11:1).

Promise: "Lo, I am about to create new heavens and a new earth." —Is 65:17

Praise: When falsely convicted, Angela learned her need to forgive was
greater than even her desire for "justice."

PM eNewsletter Fourth Sunday of Lent

March 14th Fourth Sunday of Lent

This week, Jesus, we celebrate a true servant of Yours.

St. Joseph, husband of Mary.

He was a man who truly gave his life totally to the Father.

He dedicated all of his life actions to provide and protect You,
and Mary, Your mother.

He is a shining example of how we should all be willing to trust
You and do Your will in everything.

Jesus, ask Joseph to pray for us, that we will have the
commitment to truly let You be the Lord of our lives.

Amen and Amen.

Thank you Lord, for loving us totally.

One Bread, One Body

This weeks readings and reflections

Sunday FORGIVENESS IS...
http://presentationministries.com/obob/obob.asp?d=3/14/2010

"While he was still a long way off, his father caught sight of him
and was deeply moved." —Luke 15:20

Some people think forgiveness means being nice to those who
have offended us. Forgiveness, however, is much more than that.
It means actively showing love and mercy to those who have
mistreated us. Forgiveness is given before our offenders
apologize, and even if they never apologize or stop mistreating
us. Forgiveness is expressed affectionately. The father of the
prodigal son "ran out to meet him, threw his arms around his
neck, and kissed him" (Lk 15:20). Forgiveness means honoring
our offenders by giving them special gifts and throwing a party
in their honor (Lk 15:22-23). Forgiveness is extending mercy,
treating those who have mistreated us much better than they
deserve.

Forgiveness by God's standards is impossible by human power.
"To err is human, to forgive is divine." Because we're not divine,
we can't do it. However, Jesus is divine. He can forgive, and we
can let it be done unto us according to His word (Lk 1:38). In
Jesus, we can forgive everyone who has ever hurt us; we can be
like the father of the prodigal son. We can forgive by God's
standards (Col 3:13). We can receive the miracle of forgiveness,
go forth as ministers of reconciliation (2 Cor 5:18), and transform
an unforgiving and merciless world into the image and likeness
of Christ.

Notable quotations from Pope Benedict XVI and official
teachings of the Roman Catholic Church

PEACE AND CREATION

"URGENT CHALLENGE"

Protecting the natural environment in order to build a world of peace
is ... a duty incumbent upon each and all. It is an urgent challenge,
one to be faced with renewed and concerted commitment; it is also a
providential opportunity to hand down to coming generation the
prospect of a better future for all.

"FERVENT PRAYER"

I invite all believers to raise a fervent prayer to God ... so that all
men
and women may take to heart the urgent appeal: If you want to
cultivate peace, protect creation.
