God Bless you and all you care for.

The editor

March 3rd, 2013 the third Sunday of Lent.

Jesus, this week we really need the staying power of the Holy Spirit.

We need His consistancy and His perserverance.

Some of us are getting tired of Lent and the changes that we are trying to make.

We see failure and not gain, we want to relax and enjoy, and have fun in life.

How quickly we forget, oh! Jesus, that only in You, and You alone, will we ever
have real joy and peace in our hearts.

We really want to be religious, but the trials and tribulations of the world are
very demanding, and our responsibilities are always there to remind us of our life.

Jesus, give us the grace to see beyond the present, and see the unsurpassing glory
to come, when we enter into Your heavenly kingdom.

Let us kow in our hearts that this glory will last forever and ever.

Let us realize that we are really just pilgrims on the highway to heaven, and give
us the continual aids and graces, that we need to make this journey to our heavenly
home land.

Amen and Amen.

Thanks to You, Lord, for loving us totally.

One Bread, One Body

This weeks readings and reflections

Sunday THE VIEW FROM THE CROSS
http://presentationministries.com/obob/obob.asp?lang=en&d=3/3/2013

"I want you to remember this..." -1 Corinthians 10:1

When you're talking with Jesus, it seems like He's always changing the subject to repentance. You
might mention how tragic the destruction of the Twin Towers was (see Lk 13:4). Jesus somehow
maneuvers the conversation to our need to reform (see Lk 13:4-5). You might mention to Him how
pretty your Church building looks (see Mk 13:1ff). But Jesus turns the conversation into the need
to be watchful and on guard against tragedy and sin. You're hard at work, and Jesus talks about
reforming your life (Mt 4:17). Why is repentance always on the tip of His tongue?

The answer to this question lies in trying to put yourself into Jesus' sandals. Imagine walking
around for at least three years knowing that you would stretch out your hands and have them nailed
to a cross so that others would repent. Picture yourself tied to a pillar and being cruelly
whipped until you pass out - to pay the penalty for other people's sins. Imagine hanging in
excruciating agony in place of people who could care less whether they sin or not. Now imagine
having a heart of passionate love for each person who has no interest in repentance. You're
getting a glimpse of Jesus' perspective on the importance of repentance.

If you had to suffer all this, you'd change the subject too. You wouldn't want even one person to
lose their soul if you had suffered that much so they could be saved. Be like Jesus and "proclaim
this theme: 'Reform your lives!' " (Mt 4:17)

Prayer: Jesus, may Your death never be in vain for anyone. I will spend my life leading others to
You and to repentance.

Promise: "He pardons all your iniquities, He heals all your ills." -Ps 103:3

Praise: Praise Jesus, obedient Son of the Father, and risen Lord!

Tuesday GOOD REPORTING
http://presentationministries.com/obob/obob.asp?lang=en&d=3/5/2013

"When his fellow servants saw what had happened they were badly shaken, and went to their master
to report the whole incident." -Matthew 18:31

GIFT-LISTS

"Seek eagerly after love. Set your hearts on spiritual gifts." -1 Corinthians 14:1

Pope John Paul II has taught: "The Holy Spirit, while bestowing diverse ministries in Church
communion, enriches it still further with particular gifts or promptings of grace, called
charisms...The charisms are received in gratitude both on the part of the one who receives them,
and also on the part of the entire Church. They are in fact a singularly rich source of grace
for the vitality of the apostolate and for the holiness of the whole Body of Christ
(The Lay Members of Christ's Faithful People, 24).

Pope John Paul II has also taught: "The Spirit of Jesus, received by the humble and docile
heart of the believer, brings about the flourishing of Christian moral life and the witness
of holiness amid the great variety of vocations, gifts, responsibilities, conditions and life
situations. As Novatian once pointed out - here expressing the authentic faith of the Church - it
is the Holy Spirit 'who confirmed the hearts and minds of the disciples, who revealed the
mysteries of the Gospel, who shed upon them the light of things divine. Strengthened by his gift,
they did not fear either prisons or chains for the name of the Lord; indeed they even trampled
upon the powers and torments of the world, armed and strengthened by him, having in themselves
the gifts which this same Spirit bestows and directs like jewels to the Church, the Bride of
Christ. It is in fact he who raises up prophets in the Church, instructs teachers, guides
tongues, works wonders and healings, accomplishes miracles, grants the discernment of spirits,
assigns governance, inspires counsels, distributes and harmonizes every other charismatic gift'
" (The Splendor of Truth, 108).

A Prophetic Lent

As we imitate Jesus' 40-day fast and prepare to renew our baptismal promises on Easter Sunday,
the Lord calls us to intensify our reading of His word. In this Lent, I invite you to ask for and
accept the grace to read through all the prophets of the Old Testament except Isaiah.
(We encourage you to read the prophet, Isaiah, during Advent). The following arrangement will
help you. As you read the Lord's prophetic word, you will repent deeply and have the springtime
of your life in the Spirit.

Pope Benedict XVI, Shepherd of Truth
http://presentationministries.com/BST/bst2013-02.asp?navlink=latest

Notable quotations from Pope Benedict XVI and official
teachings of the Roman Catholic Church

FAITH AND CHARITY

"THE GREATEST WORK OF CHARITY"

It is important ... to remember that the greatest work of charity is evangelization, which is
the "ministry of the word".

A LENTEN INVITATION

Lent invites us, through the traditional practices of the Christian life, to nourish our faith
by careful and extended listening to the word of God and by receiving the sacraments, and at
the same time to grow in charity and in love for God and neighbor, not least through the
specific practices of fasting, penance and almsgiving.

"A VALUABLE OPPORTUNITY"

The celebration of Lent, in the context of the Year of Faith, offers us a valuable opportunity
to meditate on the relationship between faith and charity: between believing in God - the God
of Jesus Christ -and love, which is the fruit of the Holy Spirit and which guides us on the
path of devotion to God and others.
