May 1st Sixth Sunday of Easter
Jesus, grace us to really pray.
We need to pray with a fervor that shakes the houses where we are at.
Please send forth the power of Your Holy Spirit to fill us with the desire to pray, so
that we will really do just that.
Many times people ask us to pray for a need and we say we will, but either forget to do
it, or do it with out any real conviction of purpose.
Jesus, open up our hearts and fill us with a real desire to communicate with You.
You, Christ, are the answer to all the questions and problems.
Teach us, Jesus.
Amen and Amen.
Thank You Lord, for loving us totally.

Sunday TEACHING ABSTINENCES

"The Paraclete, the Holy Spirit Whom the Father will send in My name, will instruct you in
everything, and remind you of all that I told you." -John 14:26
The Holy Spirit will teach us everything (Jn 14:26). To receive true, profound, practical
teaching on all that we need to know, we must be teachable, that is, docile. It's easy to
be teachable to the Spirit on some things, but it takes a miracle to be teachable in many
areas that the Spirit teaches. For example, the Holy Spirit taught the Gentile Christians
of the early Church about burdens "strictly necessary" for harmony with the Jewish
Christians (Acts 15:28). All of these burdens were about abstaining from certain practices
(Acts 15:29).
Are you docile enough to let the Spirit teach you about strictly necessary burdens of
abstinence? Would you let the Spirit teach you about abstaining from drinking alcohol,
coffee, or soda; abstaining from buying certain things; abstaining from eating sugar, salt,
or meat; or abstaining from TV and other forms of entertainment? Many of us want the Holy
Spirit to be completely "spiritual" and not to teach us about abstaining in ways which
would impact the practical details of our lifestyles.
Come Holy Spirit, the Teacher of abstinences and the Transformer of lifestyles!
Prayer: Father, instruct "the hearts of the faithful by the light of the Holy Spirit."
Promise: "The city had no need of sun or moon, for the glory of God gave it light, and its
lamp was the Lamb." -Rv 21:23
Praise: Praise You, risen Lord Jesus. You set aside the pleasures of this life and took up
Your cross to set us free. All glory and honor be Yours forever, alleluia!

Lifting up a friend who is very disturbed on account of financial/property issues of the

today due to severe dehydration, Pray that she's getting stronger and healthier. Pray also
for my sister who accompanies her in hospital and for the doctors and nurses who handle her,

Bible Telephone Line
The Bible Telephone Line (BTL) has been in operation for 24 years.Begun by Fr. Al in 1991,
it now continues with one deacon of the Archdiocese of Indianapolis and two lay teachers
trained by Presentation Ministries. The BTL provides callers with a short teaching on the
readings for the daily Mass. It is available 24 hours a day and 7 days a week. Callers may
also leave a short prayer request which will be shared on the line with the other callers
the next day on a separate line. Daily audio reflections are also available by email

GOD'S MERCY
THE MIRACLE OF MERCY
In an ever new miracle, divine mercy shines forth in our lives, inspiring each of us to
love our neighbor and to devote ourselves to ... the spiritual and corporal works of mercy.
WORKS OF MERCY
These works remind us that faith finds expression in concrete everyday actions meant to
