HALOES
"The skin of Moses' face was radiant." -Exodus 34:35
When "Moses came down from Mount Sinai with the two tablets of the commandments" (Ex 34:29), he had the first halo ever seen. He got this halo by conversing with God (Ex 34:29) and on the occasion of receiving the Ten Commandments.
Like Moses, we should receive haloes. In fact, we have a greater opportunity to receive a halo than did Moses (see Mt 11:11), for we have access to the Holy Spirit (see 2 Cor 3:7-8, 18). We get our haloes by being baptized, living in faith, growing in holiness through conversation with God, and especially through obedience to His commandments.
Thus, obeying the Lord is not a burden (see 1 Jn 5:3); rather, it is a life-saving opportunity to become holy, receive a halo, and live with God forever. To obey Him is our delight (Ps 40:9). The Lord didn't have to choose us to obey Him. He could have gotten along without us. We are privileged to have the opportunity to obey the Lord.
Thank God we can obey Him. Then obey Him and glow with your halo.
Prayer: Prayer: Father, make me glow with love for You.
Promise: Promise: "The reign of God is like a buried treasure which a man found in a field." -Mt 13:44
Praise: Praise: St. Peter Julian Eymard founded the Congregation of the Blessed Sacrament, a community dedicated to Eucharistic adoration.
