August 6th, Transfiguration of the Lord
This week, oh Christ, the church celebrates Your Transfiguration.
You wanted to give the apostles a guarantee of Your true Divinity and so You became
dazzlingly bright and Your Godhead showed through.
Jesus, please give to each of us that same sense of trust in You, that will keep us
faithful to You in all the situations of our lives.
Jesus, it is easy to serve You when things are ok, but very hard to serve and trust You
when we are in trouble or pain.
Christ, give us the grace to realize that Your transfiguration is still valid today, and
that all we have to do is pray and trust.
Trust that Your words to us will always be fulfilled "I will be with you always."
Jesus, grace us to have the peace that only You can give.
Jesus, grace us to walk each day in praise and glory to You, and towards our heavenly home,
where we also will someday glow with the heavenly glory of eternal life.
Amen and Amen.
Thank You Lord, for loving us totally.

Sunday BOMBS AWAY

"A surging stream of fire flowed out from where He sat." -Daniel 7:10
When Jesus was transfigured, "from the cloud came a voice which said, 'This is My Son,
My Chosen One. Listen to Him' " (Lk 9:35). However, the apostles did not listen to
Jesus, especially regarding His death on the cross and His Resurrection. Even after
Jesus died and rose, they didn't listen to Him. Jesus knew this would happen. He
concluded one of His parables with the statement: "If they do not listen to Moses and
the prophets, they will not be convinced even if one should rise from the dead"
(Lk 16:31). Finally, after Jesus' Ascension, the apostles listened to Jesus a little
bit by remaining in Jerusalem until they were baptized with the Holy Spirit (Acts 1:4-5).
At this first Christian Pentecost, they received the power of the Spirit (Acts 1:8). A
spiritual bomb exploded. Their hardness of heart and hardness of hearing were melted.
From this point on, the apostles listened to Jesus.
On this day, we sorrowfully remember the atomic bombing of Hiroshima. Similarly, Jesus'
Transfiguration was a beginning of bringing together a "critical mass" of spiritually
explosive material. This bomb exploded at Pentecost. The bomb of Pentecost causes us to
listen to Jesus. Other bombs cause us to hold our hands over our ears (see Acts 7:57)
and not listen. Choose your bomb.
Prayer: Prayer: Father, throughout this year, explode the bomb of Pentecost.
Promise: Promise: "We possess the prophetic message as something altogether reliable.
Keep your attention closely fixed on it, as you would on a lamp shining in a dark place
until the first streaks of dawn appear and the Morning Star rises in your hearts."

Praise: Praise: Praise Jesus, transfigured in glory, the "Light of the world" (Jn 8:12),
shining in radiant splendor.

boys from Dorm 4C1 the strength and energy they need to make it through Air Force basic training.
When times get tough, Lord, hold them in Your loving arms and provide them with that extra burst

Bible Telephone Line
The Bible Telephone Line (BTL) has been in operation for 26 years. Begun by Fr. Al in 1991, it now
continues with one deacon of the Archdiocese of Indianapolis and two lay teachers trained by
Presentation Ministries. The BTL provides callers with a short teaching on the readings for the
daily Mass. It is available 24 hours a day and 7 days a week. Callers may also leave a short prayer
