PM eNewsletter 6th Sunday in ordinary time

February 11th The Sixth Sunday in ordinary time

This week oh! Jesus, we begin Lent.

Jesus, help us to make this Lent truly a time of conversion and
the start of a new and deeper relationship with You.

Let us really see, through You, what we have to give up or get
rid of from our lives.

Let us give up whatever is keeping us from truly being one in You.

Let Your light of love open our hearts so that we may see You as
our Lord, God, and King of Kings.

Let this Lent truly be the beginning of a new life of love and service.

Amen and Amen.

Thank You Lord, for loving us totally.

One Bread, One Body

This weeks readings and reflections

Sunday A. M. D. G.
http://presentationministries.com/obob/obob.asp?lang=en&d=2/11/2018

"Whatever you do - you should do all for the glory of God." -1 Corinthians 10:31

It's the middle of winter; it's bitterly cold; it's so tempting to hide away and just go through
the motions. However, Lent begins on Wednesday. Lent is a great antidote for the temptation to go
through the motions and do the bare minimum in our work, school, marriage, parenting, ministry, etc.

The Church gives us Lent to break through the drudgery of life (see Jb 7:1). There can be no going
through the motions at the foot of the cross. When we place ourselves in the glory of God's presence
in heaven, there is also no minimalism and no going through the motions. God's glory is one of the
greatest motivating factors in this life. We Christians do all "Ad Majorem Dei Gloriam," for the
greater glory of God.

When we are concerned for the glory of God, we do not take a day off. When we relax, get skeptical,
or express bitterness or unforgiveness, or commit sins, we do not give God glory in the sight of
others (e.g. Nm 20:12). We might interact with someone for the first and only time today, and our
actions and attitudes might influence them to decide for or against the Lord. The great baseball
player, Joe DiMaggio, was once asked why he played so hard, even in meaningless games. He replied:
"There might be a boy in the stands who may only see me play this one time. He deserves to see my
best, so I always give my best." How much more must we, who serve Almighty God, do our very best at
all times, for the glory of God is at stake!

Prayer: Father, like the prophets Moses and Ezekiel, "let me see Your glory" (Ex 33:18). May I spend
my life doing all for your glory.

Promise: "I said, 'I confess my faults to the Lord,' and You took away the guilt of my sin." -Ps 32:5

Praise: Praise You, Jesus, for rising to new life and for vanquishing sin and death. Alleluia!

Monday LOOKING FOR A SIGN?
http://presentationministries.com/obob/obob.asp?lang=en&d=2/12/2018

"[The Pharisees] were looking for some heavenly sign from Him as a test. With a sigh from the depths
of His spirit He said, 'Why does this age seek a sign? I assure you, no such sign will be given it!' "
-Mark 8:11-12

Pope Francis, Shepherd of Truth
http://presentationministries.com/pope/fst2018-01.asp?navlink=latest

Notable quotations from Pope Francis and official teachings of the Roman Catholic Church

MARY, MOTHER OF GOD

WELCOME, LOVE, HELP

All life, from life in the mother's womb to that of the elderly, the suffering and the sick, and to
that of the troublesome and even repellent, is to be welcomed, loved and helped.

WHAT GOD WANTS US TO BE

... Mary is what God wants us to be, what He wants His Church to be: a Mother who is tender and
lowly, poor in material goods and rich in love, free of sin and united to Jesus, keeping God in our
hearts and our neighbor in our lives. To set out anew, let us look to our Mother. In her heart beats
the heart of the Church.

LEAVE BEHIND USELESS BAGGAGE

Devotion to Mary is not spiritual etiquette; it is a requirement of the Christian life. Looking to
the Mother, we are asked to leave behind all sorts of useless baggage and to rediscover what really
matters.
