GOD TREASURES YOUR TEARS

"My wanderings You have counted; my tears are stored in Your flask; are they not recorded in Your book?" -Psalm 56:9

Incredibly, the God of the universe has actually been loving each of us to such an intimate extent that He counts our wanderings and stores our tears in His flask. Accountants are familiar with keeping accurate counts and records and valuing inventory. Imagine God staring at the flask of your tears and cherishing them. Picture the Lord counting your wanderings - both the good wanderings, such as walking with Him on a beautiful path, and the bad wanderings, spent walking farther away from Him in sin (Ps 56:9; see also Mt 10:30).

Those of us who are parents keep scrapbooks of photos of our children, and we treasure those memories of them. Likewise, God pulls out your flask with your tears and His book in which He has recorded your wanderings (Ps 56:9) and treasures you. Your good tears and wanderings swell His heart with joy and pride. Your sinful tears and wanderings flood His heart with overflowing mercy for you.

Let us devote ourselves to bearing much fruit for such a loving Father. May His book and flask be filled with the joyful entries of many new disciples whom you have helped to lead into new life with Him.

Prayer: Lord Jesus, You cherish my tears. In turn, I devote my life to cherishing Your wounds and Your Passion. May I spend my life spreading the Good News of Your merciful love.

Promise: "God is with me." -Ps 56:10

Praise: St. Vincent's endurance under torture lead to his jailer's conversion.
