January 12th, the baptism of the Lord
Oh Jesus, You, who are eternally free of sin, in order to give obedience to the Father, was baptised to show
us the need we will all have to enter the baptisimal font to be freed of the stain of original sin.
You have always been the guide to life, and You gave us an everlasting guide through the presence of the Holy
Spirit.
Jesus, help us all to renew our baptismal promises to renounce sin and all evil influences in our lives.
Let Your baptism renew in us the desire to serve You more and more every day, freed from the stain of sin.
Let us joyfully come to Your church and proclaim You, by loving ourselves, and others with true christian
understanding and charity.
Help us to forgive any who have hurt us, and let us ask for forgiveness for any we have hurt.
Let us praise and glorify You by asking for and accepting Your gift of love.
Amen and Amen.
Thank You Lord, for loving us totally.

Sunday THE END OF CHRISTMAS AND THE BEGINNING OF A NEW WORLD

"After Jesus was baptized, He came directly out of the water. Suddenly the sky opened and he saw the Spirit
of God descend like a dove and hover over Him." -Matthew 3:16
"Mary" Christmas on this last day of the Christmas season, the celebration of the Baptism of Jesus. The Lord
is calling us to end Christmas by going back to Baptism, the beginning of our Christian life. Today is an
ideal time to renew our baptismal promises by rejecting Satan, all his works, and all his promises and by
believing ever more deeply in the Triune God.
When we end Christmas in Trinitarian, baptismal faith, we know in a life-changing way we are beloved sons and
daughters of God our Father, with whom He is well pleased (Mt 3:17). This affirmation of perfect, infinite,
unconditional, eternal fatherly love fills us "with the Holy Spirit and power" (see Acts 10:38). Loved by the
Father and filled with the Spirit, we imitate Jesus and go "about doing good works and healing all who were
in the grip of the devil" (Acts 10:38). In this way, we establish "the victory of justice" on the earth
(Is 42:6) "to open the eyes of the blind, to bring out prisoners from confinement, and from the dungeon,
those who live in darkness" (Is 42:7).
This year, the culture of death may well give way to a civilization of love and life. The renewal of your
baptismal promises today has a lot to say about the future of the world. On this last day of Christmas, renew
your Baptism.
Prayer: Abba, may every detail of my life be deeply affected by the fact that You have adopted me as Your
child (Rm 8:15).
Promise: "I have grasped you by the hand; I formed you, and set you as a covenant of the people, a light for
the nations." -Is 42:6
Praise: "Our Lord voluntarily submitted himself to the baptism of St. John, intended for sinners, in order to
'fulfill all righteousness.' Jesus' gesture is a manifestation of his self-emptying" (Catechism, 1224).

Thank you Jesus for the gift of twin boy grandchildren. Bless them and their parents/grand parents and all
who are caring for them as they are in NICU. Pour out your merciful loving healing love on them to grow
them stronger day by day till they go home. Bless the parents with every grace they need to be loving,
caring, nurturing at every step of their growth. Mama Mary be a mother to them now and always.

parish today. Prepare the soil of their hearts minds and spirits to receive you worthily and stay in your
presence at all times. Bless the parents/god parents/grand parents/siblings/relatives who will accompany
them today, with every grace and blessing to nurture their spiritual growth through the years. Pour out
your Holy Spirit upon the animators/catechists/priests and all involved in their formation. May your
kingdom come in their hearts and homes. Amen

Bible Telephone Line
The Bible Telephone Line (BTL) has been in operation for 28 years. Begun by Fr. Al in 1991, it now
continues with one deacon of the Archdiocese of Indianapolis and two lay teachers trained by
Presentation Ministries. The BTL provides callers with a short teaching on the readings for the
daily Mass. It is available 24 hours a day and 7 days a week. Callers may also leave a short prayer
request which will be shared on the line with the other callers the next day on a separate line.

END HUNGER
"WE MUST DO BETTER"
We are all called to go further. We can and we must do better for the helpless. We must move to concrete
action, so that the scourge of hunger disappears completely.
WE CAN DO IT
We do indeed have the adequate means and framework so that beautiful words and good wishes may become an
action plan of substance that leads effectively to the eradication of hunger in our world. To this end we
need joint efforts, upright hearts, and persistent concern to firmly and resolutely make the other's
problems one's own.
