“THE DAY OF SALVATION” (2 Cor 6:2)
“That day saw the beginning of a great persecution of the church.” —Acts 8:1

This morning you went to the funeral of a brother in Christ, a leader in your church (Acts 8:2). His name was Stephen, and he was martyred by a hysterical mob. In your grief, you find yourself on the road — a fugitive running from St. Stephen’s murderers. Those remaining in town are being terrorized by a man named Saul, who “entered house after house, dragged men and women out, and threw them into jail” (Acts 8:3). This is a sad day — a day of violence, trauma, fear, imprisonment, separation, grief, and murder.

As you walk along, wondering if you’ll be caught, you meet other travelers and residents of small country towns. Your love for Jesus wells up; the Spirit “puts words in your mouth” (see Mt 10:20); you speak from the abundance of your heart (Lk 6:45). After living through so much bad news, you still share the Good News of Jesus. People with their own bad news accept God’s gift of faith and believe in Jesus. On some occasions, signs and wonders accompany your profession of faith (Mk 16:17-18). Several people are healed and set free from the evil one. “The rejoicing in that town rose to fever pitch” (Acts 8:8).

Prayer: Father, when I experience bad news, speak the Good News through me.

Promise: “I Myself am the Bread of Life. No one who comes to Me shall ever be hungry, no one who believes in Me shall ever thirst.” —Jn 6:35

Praise: The Winters, both physicians, moved into the poorest section of town to open a medical clinic, raise their family, and bring Jesus into the lives of the poor.

THE GREATEST PRAYER
“As Stephen was being stoned he could be heard praying, ‘Lord Jesus, receive my spirit.’ ” —Acts 7:59

King David prayed to the Lord: “Into Your hands I commend my spirit” (Ps 31:6). In this prayer, David put his trust in the Lord (Ps 31:7).

Jesus prayed this same prayer on the cross right before He died. This was a prayer of supreme trust even to death. Jesus prayed not only to God; He specifically addressed God, the Father (Lk 23:46).

St. Stephen prayed Psalm 31:6 and Luke 23:46 right before he was martyred for love of Jesus. He addressed this prayer not to the Father, but to Jesus, Lord, that is, God. Stephen prayed this prayer audibly even while being stoned by a crowd of murderers (Acts 7:59). This was not the last prayer Stephen prayed. After he gave his life to Jesus, Stephen “fell to his knees and cried out in a loud voice, ‘Lord, do not hold this sin against them’ ” (Acts 7:60; cf Lk 23:34).

Let us pray with David and trust God with our lives. Let us pray with Jesus and trust God the Father in our deaths. Let us pray with Stephen and trust the Lord Jesus. Let us forgive as Jesus forgave even on the cross. Jesus, Lord and God (Jn 20:28), teach us to pray Psalm 31:6, Luke 23:46, and Acts 7:59.

Prayer: Father, I put my life in Your hands.

Promise: “I Myself am the Bread of Life.” —Jn 6:35

Praise: St. Anselm was twice exiled because he defended the authority of the pope.

THE WORK’S PLACE
“What must we do to perform the works of God?” —John 6:28

Because we have given our lives to the risen Jesus, everything in our lives, especially work, is radically new. We don’t work for perishable food, that is, for salary, profit, benefits, recognition, or power; rather, we work for “food that remains unto life eternal” (Jn 6:27). We work to become holy not only in the context of our jobs but through our jobs (see Lumen Gentium, Vatican II, 41, and Lay Members of Christ’s Faithful People, Pope St. John Paul II, 15). Whether we earn a million dollars or weren’t getting paid at all, we would still go to work, for the Lord has chosen our work to be one of the main places where He makes us holy as He is holy (see 1 Pt 1:16).

We must accept the Lord’s “way of holiness” (see Mt 6:33) by accepting Him as Lord of our lives and of our work.

Therefore:

  • Don’t work on Sundays unless your state of life requires it.
  • “Do not render service for appearance only and to please men” (Eph 6:6).
  • “Give your service willingly, doing it for the Lord rather than men” (Eph 6:7).
  • “Whatever you do, work at it with your whole being” (Col 3:23).
  • “Be submissive” to your employers and “try to please them in every way” (Ti 2:9).
  • “Be slaves of Christ the Lord” (Col 3:24).
  • “Do all for the glory of God” (1 Cor 10:31).

Prayer: Father, may I work out my salvation in fear and trembling (Phil 2:12).

Promise: Stephen “was a man filled with grace and power, who worked great wonders and signs among the people.” —Acts 6:8

Praise: Getting laid off is something for which Jerry now gives thanks to God. It brought his family closer together.

HOW CAN I KNOW JESUS?
“They had come to know Him in the breaking of bread.” —Luke 24:35

During the upcoming week, the Church in daily Mass reads to us from the Bread of Life discourse (Jn 6:25-59). Today’s Gospel, recounting the disciples’ encounter with Jesus on the road to the village of Emmaus, leads directly to the Eucharist. Prepared by an in-depth journey through the Old Testament Scriptures foretelling the Messiah, the disciples recognized Jesus in the breaking of the bread (Lk 24:30-31).

This week, the Church will once again prepare us to recognize Jesus truly present in the Holy Eucharist. It will do this by an in-depth reading of that Bread of Life discourse. It is critical to dwell deeply in the Word of God in order to recognize Jesus. Less than half of registered Catholics believe in the Real Presence of Jesus, Body, Blood, soul, and divinity, in the Eucharist. This unbelief is symptomatic of a famine for the Word of God and thus a famine for the Bread of Life (Am 8:11).

Therefore, ask the Lord for an insatiable hunger for the food of the Kingdom — the bread of God’s Word (Mt 4:4) and the Holy Eucharist (Jn 6:35). Read the Bible daily. Learn to recognize Jesus. “Ignorance of the Scriptures is ignorance of Christ” (Catechism of the Catholic Church, 133). If we aren’t living in the Word, we risk missing the time of our visitation (Lk 19:44).

Prayer: Father, may I prefer to spend a day without eating rather than spend a day without reading Your Word.

Promise: “You were delivered from the futile way of life your fathers handed on to you…by Christ’s blood beyond all price.” —1 Peter 1:18-19

Praise: Praise You, Jesus, Word-made-Flesh and Lamb of God (Jn 1:14, 29).

NON–STOP
“The word of God continued to spread.” —Acts 6:7

The Lord calls us to abide in His Word (Jn 8:31). We are to meditate on His law and Word day and night (Ps 1:2). We should “recite it by day and by night” (Jos 1:8). God’s Word must be the “joy and the happiness” of our hearts (Jer 15:16).

However, the world, the flesh, and the devil try to distract us from living in God’s Word and thereby from living God’s Word. We are tempted to divert our energies toward dealing with certain problems instead of continuing in the ministry of the Word (see Acts 6:2). However, like the apostles, we should call on others to deal with some problems so that we don’t lose our concentration on God’s Word (see Acts 6:4). For example, while St. Paul was preaching, Eutychus fell out of a third-story window and apparently died (Acts 20:9). But Paul healed the boy and then continued preaching (Acts 20:10-11). Paul told St. Timothy to preach and teach God’s Word in season and out of season (2 Tm 4:2). The last words of the Acts of the Apostles are: “Paul preached the kingdom of God and taught about the Lord Jesus Christ without any hindrance” (see Acts 28:31).

Jesus didn’t let even His own death stop His ministry of the Word. He rose from the dead and interpreted “every passage of Scripture which referred to Him” (Lk 24:27) and “opened [the apostles’] minds to the understanding of the Scriptures” (Lk 24:45). Never let yourself be distracted from “teaching and proclaiming” God’s Word (Acts 5:42).

Prayer: Father, may I never let myself be chained in ministering your unchainable Word (see 2 Tm 2:9).

Promise: “They sighted Jesus approaching the boat, walking on the water. They were frightened, but He told them, ‘It is I; do not be afraid.’ ” —Jn 6:19-20

Praise: Jesus delivered Rico from an addiction to alcohol. Now he volunteers in his parish ministering to those exploring the truths of the Catholic faith.

THE BATTLE OF MULTIPLICATIONS
Jesus “said to Philip, ‘Where shall we buy bread for these people to eat?’ (He knew well what He intended to do but He asked this to test Philip’s response.)” —John 6:5-6

Jesus multiplied the loaves and fish, and continues to multiply food, money, time, and energy for those who give Him their all. Satan reacts to this by doing some multiplying of his own. Satan multiplied Theudas’ followers, and helped Judas the Galilean also build “up quite a following” (Acts 5:35-37). Satan likes to multiply the followers, financial support, and media coverage of people and projects opposed to God’s kingdom. Look at the abundant multiplication of Planned Parenthood’s resources in recent generations.

Would a neutral observer conclude that Satan is more proficient  at multiplying than Jesus?  Of course, Satan can multiply sin, and there is plenty of that for his use. But Jesus multiplies total commitment, which is rare (see Mt 19:21-22). However, Satan’s multiplications don’t last, while Jesus’ multiplication miracles endure. Additionally, where sin abounds, grace abounds all the more (Rm 5:20).

Give Jesus the raw materials for a multiplication. Give Jesus everything, and He will multiply it to overcome Satan’s culture of death with a new civilization of life and love.

Prayer: Father, I repent of holding back and not giving my all to You.

Promise: “If, on the other hand, it comes from God, you will not be able to destroy them without fighting God Himself.”—Acts 5:39

Praise: Sarah spent much of her time staring at her smartphone. She found a copy of One Bread, One Body in her church and began meditating on the Mass readings each day. She found a new peace, gave her life totally to Jesus, and set down her phone.

ACCEPT AND OBEY
“Whoever disobeys the Son will not see life, but must endure the wrath of God.” —John 3:36

We obey what we accept, as per Jesus (see Jn 3:33). Do we accept God’s testimony about His Son, Jesus? (Jn 3:32) Or do we accept the values of the modern world, disbelieve God, and “make Him a liar”? (1 Jn 1:10; 5:10)

What we accept, we obey. If we obey God, He gives us the Holy Spirit (Acts 5:32), and “He does not ration” the gift of the Holy Spirit (Jn 3:34).

You’re obeying someone, even if you think you are independent. Whose voice do you accept and obey, the voice of God or the voice of “the god of the present age,” that is, the devil? (2 Cor 4:4) There is a cosmic and earthly battle between the kingdom of God and the kingdom of darkness. In light of this spiritual war, partial  obedience to God is actually disobedience (see 1 Sm 15:1-24).

Therefore, what do you accept? Who will you obey? God doesn’t ration the Spirit; we do. Will you stifle the Holy Spirit by putting up a “spiritual umbrella”? (see 1 Thes 5:19) Accept God’s testimony through the Church and her Bible; obey God; “receive the Holy Spirit” (Jn 20:22).

Prayer: Father, You have spent centuries revealing Your testimony so I could have the opportunity to decide freely about Jesus. “I do believe!” (Mk 9:24) Pour out Your Spirit on me so I may obey You fully (Jn 3:34).

Promise: “Whoever believes in the Son has life eternal.” —Jn 3:36

Praise: Bill, a college student, read the writings of the early Church Fathers out of a desire to grow closer to Jesus. He began to hunger to receive Jesus in the Eucharist, and shared his discovery with his entire family. They all converted to Catholicism together. Now Bill is a Catholic priest.

JESUS TEACHES
“Those men you put in jail are standing over there in the temple, teaching the people.” —Acts 5:25

Jesus wants His sheep to be fed physically and especially spiritually (see Jn 21:15, 17). He wants His people to be taught His Good News. Jesus Himself repeatedly gave up His rest and food to teach vast crowds “at great length” (Mk 6:34). “He would teach in the temple by day” (Lk 21:37). After St. Mary Magdalene recognized Jesus risen from the dead, she called Him “ ‘Rabbouni!’ (meaning ‘Teacher’ )” (Jn 20:16). Jesus spent the afternoon of the day of His Resurrection teaching the Bible as He walked for miles with two of His disciples (Lk 24:27). Jesus spent the evening of the day of His Resurrection opening the apostles’ minds to the understanding of the Scriptures (Lk 24:45).

After the first Christian Pentecost, the newborn Church caught on to Jesus’ emphasis on teaching. The Church devoted herself to the apostles’ teaching (Acts 2:42). After an angel freed the apostles from jail, “they went into the temple at dawn and resumed their teaching” (Acts 5:21). They “filled Jerusalem” with their teaching (Acts 5:28). “Day after day, both in the temple and at home, they never stopped teaching and proclaiming the good news of Jesus the Messiah” (Acts 5:42). They concentrated on “prayer and the ministry of the word” (Acts 6:4). “The word of God continued to spread” (Acts 6:7).

Prayer: Father, I join the movement of proclaiming Your Word.

Promise: “Yes, God so loved the world that He gave His only Son, that whoever believes in Him may not die but may have eternal life.” —Jn 3:16

Praise: “When the afflicted man called out, the Lord heard, and from all his distress He saved him” (Ps 34:7). Alleluia!

THE ONLY HOPE
“Do not be surprised that I tell you you must all be begotten from above.” —John 3:7

Nicodemus was a member of the Sanhedrin, the Supreme Court of the Jewish people (Jn 3:1). He held “the office of teacher of Israel” (Jn 3:10). Yet he did not understand that we:

  • must be “born again” (Jn 3:4),
  • must be “begotten from above” (Jn 3:3), and
  • can be “begotten of water and Spirit” (Jn 3:5).

Even today, after thousands of years of massive violence, injustice, war, deceit, and selfishness, most people are like Nicodemus. They don’t realize that our human nature is so fallen and wounded that it cannot be repaired or adequately controlled. Possibly they refuse to come to the obvious conclusion about the condition of our human nature because they believe it would leave them hopeless. They prefer a groundless, mindless hope to the stark truth.

Thankfully, we do not have to choose between being a naive fool or a candidate for suicide. Jesus is our Savior. He saved us by dying and rising for us (see 1 Cor 15:3-4). We can be baptized into His death and Resurrection (Rm 6:3-4). In Jesus, we can crucify our old nature (see Gal 5:24) and be raised as new creations (Gal 6:15).

The risen Jesus is our Savior, Hope, Truth, Life, Lord, and God. Worship Jesus and witness for Him.

Prayer: Father, give me so much love that I will proclaim the truth about the hope of new life in Christ.

Promise: “The community of believers were of one heart and one mind. None of them ever claimed anything as his own; rather, everything was held in common. With power the apostles bore witness to the resurrection of the Lord Jesus.” —Acts 4:32-33

Praise: Keith is a gifted cook. He pours his talents into cooking “meals of love” for people on retreat, that they may be filled with Jesus as well as tasty food.

Nicodemus “came to [Jesus] at night.” —John 3:2

When you’re in the darkness of the tomb rather than in the light of the risen Son, you need to see the light (see Jn 1:4-5). This guiding light often comes in the form of a prophecy or a revelation. For example, Sts. Peter and John were in a terrible situation. They had been arrested and spent the night in jail (Acts 4:3). A persecution was beginning to rage that would ultimately result in the brutal murder-martyrdom of several believers. How was the early Church to come out of the darkness of fear and violence?

They gathered together for prayer, and the Lord gave them a prophecy to reassure them (Acts 4:25-26; Ps 2:1-2). Then they were given a specific intercessory prayer: “Grant to Your servants, even as they speak Your words, complete assurance by stretching forth Your hand in cures and signs and wonders to be worked in the name of Jesus, Your holy Servant” (Acts 4:29-30). They had obviously received divine enlightenment, for “the place where they were gathered shook as they prayed. They were filled with the Holy Spirit and continued to speak God’s word with confidence” (Acts 4:31).

When nothing’s going right, when darkness is overshadowing the light, seek the light of prophecy and revelation. Prophecy will encourage and guide you. A revelation will focus your prayer on a specific intention. The Spirit will move and the Word will be proclaimed with “complete assurance” (Acts 4:29).

Prayer: Jesus, risen Light, shine on me.

Promise: “I solemnly assure you, no one can enter into God’s kingdom without being begotten of water and Spirit.” —Jn 3:5

Praise: An assassin attempted to murder Pope St. Martin I but was struck blind by divine providence and so failed to kill him.

“HIS GREAT MERCY” (1 Pt 1:3)
“...Who in His great mercy gave us new birth; a birth unto hope which draws its life from the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead…” —1 Peter 1:3

Three times Jesus said to His apostles, “Peace be with you” (Jn 20:19, 21, 26). This literally means “shalom,” a peace which is complete and harmonious. Jesus forgave the sins of the apostles and poured out divine mercy upon them.

“God is rich in mercy” (Eph 2:4). He gives so many chances to us who are slow to grasp and believe in His mercy. He wants very much to have us believe in His merciful love, in His unlimited compassion. “His mercy endures forever” (Ps 118:1).

St. Thomas the Apostle came to belief because he encountered Divine Mercy Incarnate, Jesus, his Lord and his God (Jn 20:28). Some day we will come face to face with Mercy Incarnate (1 Cor 13:12). Will this encounter be on the Day of Judgment? Hopefully that’s not the first time you meet Divine Mercy.

Now is the time (see 2 Cor 6:2). Now is the season of mercy. Jesus of Mercy is constantly trying to tell you: “Peace be with you, mercy be with you.” Do not doubt His mercy. Receive His mercy. Do the spiritual and corporal works of mercy, and live a life of complete trust in the mercy of God.

Prayer: “My Lord and my God!” (Jn 20:28)

Promise: “They devoted themselves to the apostles’ instruction and the communal life, to the breaking of bread and the prayers.” —Acts 2:42

Praise: “Give thanks to the Lord, for He is good, for His mercy endures forever” (Ps 118:1).

NAME ABOVE ALL NAMES (Phil 2:9)
“We must give them a stern warning never to mention that Man’s name to anyone again.” —Acts 4:17

I’m attending Mass in a Church called Holy Name. This church building has a mosaic behind the altar which proclaims:

  • “Ask in My Name,”
  • “Holy is His Name,”
  • “And thou shalt call His Name Jesus.”

A Church dedicated to the Holy Name of Jesus is a fitting place in which to hear today’s readings, which continue the story from yesterday’s readings that “there is no other name in the whole world given to men by which we are to be saved” (Acts 4:12). “In the power of that name this [man born lame] stands before you perfectly sound” (Acts 4:10).

There is more power in the Name of Jesus than in all the forces of evil combined (see e.g. Lk 10:17). Therefore, have confidence in the Name of Jesus. He promised: “Whatever You ask the Father, He will give you in My name” (Jn 16:23). The archangel Gabriel told St. Joseph to name Mary’s Child Jesus, a name which means “God saves” (see Mt 1:21). Therefore, even  His name indicates Jesus’ power to save.

“Whatever you do, whether in speech or in action, do it in the name of the Lord Jesus” (Col 3:17). May His Name be constantly in your heart and be constantly on your lips.

Prayer: Jesus, “Your name spoken is a spreading perfume” (Sg 1:3). May we always speak Your Holy Name in love, devotion, reverence, faith, and power.

Promise: “Go into the whole world and proclaim the good news to all creation.” —Mk 16:15

Praise: “God highly exalted Him and bestowed on Him the name above every other name, so that at Jesus’ name every knee must bend in the heavens, on the earth, and under the earth, and every tongue proclaim to the glory of God the Father: JESUS CHRIST IS LORD!” (Phil 2:9-11)

STARTING OVER?
“I am going out to fish.” —John 21:3

Jesus told St. Peter to leave the fishing business and follow Him (Mt 4:19). Even after meeting the risen Christ several times, Peter denied Christ again and went back into the fishing business. Peter denied Jesus, the Light, and chose the night. “All through the night they caught nothing” (Jn 21:3). Peter was naked (Jn 21:7, NAB) and not clothed with power (Lk 24:49), righteousness (see Eph 6:14), or life in Christ (Eph 4:24). Peter chose night, nothing, and nakedness.

Jesus, in all His mercy, forgave Peter another three times and proceeded to again start from the beginning with him. Jesus asked Peter three times if he loved Him (Jn 21:15-17). Then Jesus did what He had done when He first met Peter: He commanded Peter to follow Him (Jn 21:19). Shortly after this, Peter led three thousand people to be baptized into Jesus at the first Christian Pentecost (Acts 2:41). Peter became the first leader of the Church and a fearless witness for Jesus (see Acts 4:8ff).

Have you squandered your Christian life? Have you lost your first love? (Rv 2:4) Have you forced Jesus to start over with you? If you repent, there is hope. Even if you’re starting over, the risen Lord can make you a great leader in His kingdom. Repent!

Prayer: Lord, have mercy on me again.

Promise: “This Jesus is ‘the Stone rejected by you the builders Which has become the Cornerstone.’ There is no salvation in anyone else, for there is no other name in the whole world given to men by which we are to be saved.” —Acts 4:11-12

Praise: Praise You, Jesus, risen Victor over death. You have conquered sin and death and set us free. You are the “Savior of the world” (1 Jn 4:14). Alleluia!

New Industry Guidelines Detail How to Buy Fabric Online Without Seeing It First

To buy fabric online without seeing it first, buyers must mathematically translate digital specifications like Grams per Square Meter and stretch percentages while enforcing strict physical wash protocols on sample swatches. Leading U.S. textile suppliers reported a 42% decrease in wholesale returns during fiscal 2025 when commercial buyers abandoned subjective texture descriptions in favor of hard data. Digital sourcing removes the physical hand from the evaluation process. The hand defines the tactile feel of the material. You risk severe manufacturing delays if you rely on flat lay photography alone. Source: Linkedin

Buyers determine accurate material density by reading the GSM data rather than trusting generic vendor adjectives. GSM measures exact physical weave density. A 150 GSM textile material performs well for lightweight apparel, whereas a 400 GSM material provides the rigidity needed for commercial outerwear. Digital sourcing requires buyers to locate visual proxies to evaluate drape. Drape defines the hanging behavior of a textile. Buyers assess this fluidity by demanding rosette photographs. A rosette photograph displays the material twisted into a spiral. You misjudge the flexibility of the warp and weft if you only review flat images.

Buyers verify pattern compatibility by extracting the stated stretch percentage and replicating that ratio against a physical ruler using known knit textiles. Spandex fibers dictate the modulus of elasticity. A 4-inch sample possesses a 50% stretch capacity if it extends to 6 inches comfortably. Professionals mitigate remaining physical risks by executing rigorous swatch tests. A swatch test exposes the raw sample to American Association of Textile Chemists and Colorists wash standards. You quantify shrinkage accurately if you launder a precise 4-inch square sample at maximum industrial heat settings.

Safe digital textile sourcing requires strict adherence to standardized numerical metrics over subjective visual estimations. U.S. industry data proves that quantitative analysis eliminates the traditional barriers of remote purchasing. Buyers secure exact materials for bulk production runs if they follow these technical translation methods. Start your next commercial manufacturing run securely by immediately requesting a baseline test sample from your chosen digital supplier today.

NEW, RISEN LIFE
“Touch Me.” —Luke 24:39

“Touch Me,” Jesus said to the apostles (Lk 24:39). “Do not touch Me,” Jesus said to Mary Magdalene (see Jn 20:17). These statements are not conflicting. Jesus knows what each person needs. St. Mary Magdalene wanted her relationship with Jesus to continue as it had always been. Mary needed a new relationship with Jesus, for He was now risen. Pre-risen touching no longer would work with a risen Lord. The apostles were ashamed of abandoning Jesus (Mk 14:50). Jesus wanted to restore them to their former status as His beloved apostles, to send them out with assurance and Resurrection-power. Their relationship with Jesus needed a new, risen touch (see 1 Jn 1:1).

Can we receive Jesus’ risen peace when we rely on the things of this world, that is, mammon? Jesus taught that we cannot have two masters, God and mammon (Mt 6:24). The Resurrection of Jesus brings a power not of this world. We are now to rely on “things above” (Col 3:2) rather than on things of earth. Resurrection-power and risen life are incompatible with reliance on earthly lifestyles (see Mt 9:16-17).

Jesus knows exactly what you need at every moment. What would He tell you now? Would you be ready to hear and obey Him? Does your love of money smother the power of God? Could you be moving in the power of the Spirit if you renounced the things of this world? (see Lk 14:33) Unplug from dependence on worldly means. Plug into Resurrection-power, in the name of Jesus.

Prayer: Father, open my mind “to the understanding of the Scriptures” and of risen life (Lk 24:45).

Promise: “You put to death the Author of life. But God raised Him from the dead, and we are His witnesses.” —Acts 3:15

Praise: “O Lord, our Lord, how glorious is Your name over all the earth!” (Ps 8:2)

HOW TO RECOGNIZE JESUS
“They had come to know Him in the breaking of bread.” —Luke 24:35

Reading the daily Mass Scriptures during the season of Lent is in essence an Emmaus walk with Jesus. During Lent, the Church breaks open many of the Scriptures which refer to the Messiah, and how He had to suffer (see Lk 24:25-27). Wouldn’t it have been a joy to have walked with Jesus on the road to Emmaus? Though we long for our hearts to burn alongside the first disciples as Jesus opened the Old Testament Scriptures which referred to Him (Lk 24:27, 32), we have the same opportunity today. The Church proclaims to us many of those very Scriptures during the Masses of Lent and Holy Week.

The first disciples were likely familiar with some of those Scriptures. Much more familiar with these Scriptures were the chief priests, elders, and scribes, but they did not recognize Jesus (see Jn 1:26), just as the two disciples in today’s Gospel did not recognize Him (Lk 24:16). Their eyes were not opened until the breaking of the bread, the Eucharist (Lk 24:30-31).

During the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass, the Lord breaks open the Scriptures for us in the Liturgy of the Word and then breaks the bread in the Liturgy of the Eucharist. This opens our eyes to recognize Him (Lk 24:35). To really gain an understanding of the Scriptures, come to Mass as often as possible, even daily. Recognize Jesus (Lk 24:31).

Prayer: Father, “I wish to know Christ” (Phil 3:10). Give me a supernatural hunger for the Eucharist, so I will come to know Jesus as the first Christians did (Lk 24:35).

Promise: “He remembers forever His covenant which He made binding for a thousand generations.” —Ps 105:8

Praise: “Give thanks to the Lord, invoke His name…sing to Him, sing His praise” (Ps 105:1-2).

HOW TO MEET THE RISEN JESUS
“ ‘I have seen the Lord!’ she announced.” —John 20:18

To meet the risen Christ and have a true Easter, we must be baptized in the name of Jesus (Acts 2:38). This not only means that we must receive the Sacrament of Baptism; it also means that we must live our Baptisms by being immersed into the person of Jesus. Like St. Mary Magdalene, we should be so preoccupied with and focused on Jesus that we hardly notice “two angels in dazzling robes” (Jn 20:12). As St. Patrick prayed, we are to be very conscious of Jesus within us and around us, above and below us, to our right and to our left, etc. We who are baptized into Jesus must say with St. Paul that to us, “ ‘life’ means Christ” (Phil 1:21). As the deer “longs for the running waters” (Ps 42:2), we should seek, pine for, and thirst for Jesus (Ps 63:2).

How can we be so immersed in Jesus? We must reform and have our sins forgiven (Acts 2:38). Then we will have a new Pentecost. By the power of the Holy Spirit, we will meet the risen Christ and be His witnesses. Baptism is the key to Easter. The Holy Spirit gives us the power to live our Baptisms. Repentance, expressed in the Sacrament of Reconciliation, opens us to the Spirit. Thus, on the first Resurrection night, Jesus gave His apostles both the Spirit and the authority to forgive sins in His name (Jn 20:22-23). Start the fifty-day season of Easter with Confession, leading to a new Pentecost and a renewal of your Baptism. Then you will meet the risen Jesus.

Prayer: Father, make me preoccupied with Jesus, like Mary Magdalene on Resurrection day.

Promise: “See, the eyes of the Lord are upon those who fear Him, upon those who hope for His kindness, to deliver them from death and preserve them in spite of famine.” —Ps 33:18-19

Praise: Alleluia! “This is the day the Lord has made; let us be glad and rejoice in it” (Ps 118:24). Jesus is risen! Alleluia!

GET REAL
"The soldiers pocketed the money and did as they had been instructed." —Matthew 28:15

The soldiers assigned to guard Jesus’ tomb had just endured a powerful earthquake (Mt 28:2). Simultaneously, they saw an angel, who looked like a dazzlingly dressed bolt of lightning, roll the stone back from Jesus’ tomb and sit on the stone (Mt 28:2-3). Have you ever seen lightning up close? Have you ever seen it sit? Have you ever seen it dressed? Under the circumstances, “the guards grew paralyzed with fear of [the angel] and fell down like dead men” (Mt 28:4). When the soldiers came to, some of them “went into the city and reported to the chief priests all that had happened” (Mt 28:11). Then they took a large bribe and promised to lie about Jesus’ Resurrection (Mt 28:12ff).

How can a person go through the most astounding supernatural experiences and not turn to God? The Lord warned us that if we “do not listen to Moses and the prophets, [we] will not be convinced even if one should rise from the dead” (Lk 16:31). The human person is so narcissistic and absorbed with self that we tend to deny reality. We can think everything is made for us alone and the world is merely a self-projection of our desires. Even the reality of the risen Christ does not free us from our egotistic flight from reality.

However, when the risen Christ interprets for us the Scriptures (Lk 24:27) and opens our minds to understand His Word (Lk 24:45), our hearts begin to burn (Lk 24:32). With the breaking of the bread, our eyes are opened (Lk 24:31). With the outpouring of the Holy Spirit, we are miraculously freed from the spell of self and enter into reality — life in the risen Christ.

Prayer: Father, raise me from the death of self and sin.

Promise: "God freed Him from death's bitter pangs, however, and raised Him up again, for it was impossible that death should keep its hold on Him." —Acts 2:24

Praise: Alleluia! He is risen! Praise Jesus, "the Resurrection and the Life"! (Jn 11:25) Alleluia!

FRESH BREAD
"Get rid of the old yeast to make of yourselves fresh dough, unleavened loaves, as it were; Christ our Passover has been sacrificed." —1 Corinthians 5:7

Alleluia! Jesus has risen! He’s alive! Alleluia!

For many Christians, the Good News of Jesus’ Resurrection from the dead isn’t “news” anymore. It’s old. They’ve heard it (or not heard it) for years. Instead of being evangelized to Christianity, they have been immunized to it. They mistakenly think that the lukewarm version of Easter they’ve received is all there is to the Good News.

We must get rid of the old yeast of sin. We must repent of compromising with the values of the world and of thereby letting the risen Christ be upstaged by NCAA basketball, major league baseball, spring break, chocolate Easter bunnies, or even marshmallow chicks. We must proclaim Jesus’ Resurrection with power by making major financial moves and lifestyle changes — all because of the risen Christ (see Acts 4:33-35).

Jesus died and was buried because of our sins. Unless we break out of the tomb of sin, we will not be witnesses for the risen Christ but anti-witnesses. We will conceal the risen Lord rather than reveal Him. Therefore, we must ask for the forgiveness of our sins through His name (Acts 10:43). On the first Easter Sunday evening, Jesus offered us forgiveness (Jn 20:23). We must repent if we are to be credible witnesses for the risen Jesus.

Prayer: Father, on this first day of Easter, I renew my baptismal promises; I give my life to You.

Promise: "Since you have been raised up in company with Christ, set your heart on what pertains to higher realms where Christ is seated at God's right hand." —Col 3:1

Praise: Praise Jesus! He is risen! The tomb is empty! Alleluia!

EMPTINESS + ANTICIPATION = ?
"You changed my mourning into dancing; You took off my sackcloth and clothed me with gladness, that my soul might sing praise to You without ceasing; O Lord, my God, forever will I give You thanks." —Psalm 30:12-13

During the day on Holy Saturday, there is no Mass and Communion. We feel empty — very empty. We feel as if we are buried with Christ (see Rm 6:4; Col 2:12).

However, Jesus didn’t stay in the tomb, and Holy Saturday only lasts until sunset. It gives way to the greatest liturgical celebration of the year — Easter Vigil. Therefore, Holy Saturday is a day of great anticipation.

Anticipation makes our emptiness seem not as empty. Just to know that there is resurrection from the dead gives hope to the most buried life. Risen life is about to break through even the most cold, barren, and dead ground. “The earth quaked, boulders split, tombs opened. Many bodies of saints who had fallen asleep were raised” (Mt 27:52-53). Get ready to explode with faith, love, and joy.

How Brand Mentions and Citations Improve SEO

Brand citations for SEO grow when your site defines the brand clearly, your content gives publishers something worth referencing, and your outreach targets pages that already cover your category. That is the practical answer. A brand citation helps when it places your name next to the right topic on a trusted page with useful context. A weak mention on an unrelated page adds little. A strong mention on a relevant page can strengthen category association, branded search demand, and referral trust.

Start on your own site. Your home page should state what the brand does, who it helps, and which service or product category it belongs to. Your About page should confirm the same position. Your author pages should connect real expertise to the brand. Your internal links should point readers and search engines to the pages that explain your main offers. Google says structured data gives explicit clues about a page, so accurate Organization markup also helps clarify the brand entity.

Next, publish one asset that deserves citations. The best pages for this job answer one clear question fast, use strong headings, and include a source, an expert, or an original point of view. Research pages, benchmark pages, comparison pages, and narrow how-to pages attract more mentions than generic blog posts because writers can quote them, link to them, or use them as a reference.

Then move off page. Pitch editors, newsletter writers, podcasters, and community leaders who already discuss your topic. Offer one useful angle, not a broad request for attention. A short quote, a small data point, or a clear framework works better than a generic sales message. Review unlinked mentions too. When a page already names your brand, a source link often becomes an easy editorial update if the link helps the reader.

Measure quality, not just volume. Track which pages mention the brand, which topics they connect to it, whether the mention is linked, and whether branded queries grow after those citations appear. More citations alone do not win. Better citations do.

That is how you increase brand citations for SEO with clarity, relevance, authority, and repeatable execution.

"BEHOLD, THE MAN!" (Jn 19:5, RNAB)
"There was in Him no stately bearing to make us look at Him." —Isaiah 53:2

“When I behold the wondrous cross on which the Prince of glory died, my richest gain I count but loss and pour contempt on all my pride.”

When I behold the One Whom I have pierced, I myself shall be pierced through, convicted of my sins, and lament bitterly (Jn 19:37; Zec 12:10; Rv 1:7).

When I behold His appearance marred “beyond that of mortals” (Is 52:14), I will be startled, “stand speechless,” and repent (Is 52:15).

When I behold Jesus, the Son of Man, lifted up, I will come to realize that He is the I AM, God (Jn 8:28). I will believe in Him and have eternal life (Jn 3:14-15).

When I behold Jesus on the cross, on this Good Friday, at the Veneration of the Cross, I will...

Prayer: Jesus, my Lord, my God, my All!

Promise: "So let us confidently approach the throne of grace to receive mercy and favor and to find help in time of need."—Heb 4:16

Praise: (none)

LET JESUS LOVE YOU
"Do you understand what I just did for you?" —John 13:12

Jesus washes our feet, even if we betray or deny Him (Jn 13:5ff). Foot washing was the work of a slave. There is no limit to how low Jesus will descend to love and serve us. He became a slave (see Phil 2:7ff).

St. Peter’s objection to foot-washing was similar to that of the centurion, who said: Lord, “I am not worthy to have You under my roof” (Mt 8:8). But in this case, Jesus wanted to share His humble, loving service with Peter. Remember how St. John the Baptizer also protested that he was not worthy to baptize Jesus? Jesus said to John, “Give in for now” (Mt 3:15). St. John, St. Peter, and the centurion allowed Jesus to minister as He desired, on His terms. How will we respond to Jesus’ offer to love and serve us? Will we say, “You shall never wash” me? (Jn 13:8) Will we say to Jesus, “If those are Your terms, You shall never love me”?

Let us say with the Blessed Virgin Mary, “Be it done unto me according to Your will” (see Lk 1:38). Jesus wants to give Himself to us in the Holy Eucharist. We are who Jesus says we are. If He says we are worthy of His love, then we are. Jesus is Love (1 Jn 4:8, 16). Let Him love you and unite you to Himself.

Prayer: Father, may my next reception of Holy Communion be as though I was receiving Jesus for the first time.

Promise: "Every time, then, you eat this bread and drink this cup, you proclaim the death of the Lord until He comes!" —1 Cor 11:26

Praise: "O Sacrament most holy, O Sacrament divine. All praise and all thanksgiving be every moment Thine."
