June 8th, tenth Sunday in Ordinary time
Jesus, as we see the beauty of the world around us, open
our eyes to see the beauty of the Eucharist.
Let us see in the consecrated Host, Your true self.
Let us truly realize that this gift of Your continued love, is
really, and truly, present in the consecrated bread and wine.
Let us come to adoration, and if our church doesn't have
adoration, let us ask that we be able to come, and sit
before the tabernacle, and worship and glorify You.
Let us sit in prayerful silence at Your true presence.
Let us offer our lives as vessels to bring peace in our
homes, and in the world around us.
Let us be totally Yours in all of our thoughts, words, and
actions.
Let us be seen as disciples of Christ, at home and in
the work place. Amen and Amen
Thank you Lord, for loving us totally.

One Bread, One Body
This weeks readings and reflections
Sunday GOD DESIRES MERCY
http://presentationministries.com/obob/obob.asp?d=6/8/2008
"It is mercy I desire and not sacrifice." —Matthew 9:13
"God is rich in mercy" (Eph 2:4). He delights "in showing
mercy" (Mi 7:18, JB). "His mercy endures forever" (Ps 136:1).
God desires mercy (Mt 9:13).
Fr. Lauer, founder and long-time author of One Bread, One
Body, defined mercy as treating someone better than they
deserve. To treat someone as they deserve is to give them
their due. This is a fair and just price to pay, and even
"sinners do as much" (Lk 6:33).
At a higher level than paying someone their due is to sacrifice
for someone. This involves paying a higher cost to serve
someone, going above and beyond the minimum. Sacrifices
come at a personal cost. They require time, energy, love, and
forethought. "God is pleased by sacrifices of that kind" (Heb 13:16).
However, ultimately it is not sacrifice that God desires; His
heart is set upon mercy (Mt 9:13). Jesus' disciples are set
apart by treating others better than they deserve, including
enemies, persecutors, criminals, sinners, etc. Jesus'
disciples are impelled by love (see 2 Cor 5:14) to imitate
their Master by laying down their lives for people who don't
even care about them (see Rm 5:8), regardless of whether
or not that mercy is even appreciated. "This will prove that
you are" children of God (Mt 5:45), rich in mercy (Eph 2:4).
This is what God desires.
Monday BLESS US, O LORD?

Tuesday FROM FED TO FEED

"She was able to eat for a year, and he and her son as
well; the jar of flour did not go empty, nor the jug of oil run
dry, as the Lord had foretold through Elijah." —1 Kings 17:15-16

Matthew began the New Testament by repeatedly

prostrated themselves before Jesus and gave Him homage,
which is properly given only to God (Mt 2:11).
John the Baptizer maintained he was preparing the way

Finally, when Satan was tempting the Lord, Jesus claimed
to be Lord and God by saying: "You shall not put the Lord
your God to the test" (Mt 4:7).
After this crescendo acclaiming Jesus' divinity, Jesus

Pope Benedict XVI
Vatican
Mary's vision of history is the most true and profound,
Benedict XVI says
http://www.catholicnewsagency.com/new.php?n=12807
Vatican City, June 2 (CNA).-As May's last day came to a
close on Saturday, Cardinal Angelo Comastri and
Pope Benedict held a celebration to mark the end of the
month of Mary. In his words on Mary, the Pope pointed to
how her Magnificat remains the truest and most insightful
understanding of history.
The celebration of Mary's month took place at
St. Peter's Square at 8 o'clock in the evening and was
presided over by Cardinal Angelo Comastri, the
archpriest of the Vatican Basilica. The cardinal led the
faithful in the recitation of the Rosary while a statue of
the Virgin Mary was carried around the square in
procession. Following the Marian prayer, Pope Benedict
spoke to the faithful about Mary as a model for Christians.
The Pope began by recalling how today marks the
Feast of the Visitation of the Blessed Virgin and that
of the Immaculate Heart of Mary, and he also noted
how "during the month of May many Christian
communities have the beautiful custom of solemnly
reciting the Rosary in families and in parishes."
"May this habit not cease, rather may it be continued
with greater commitment so that, at the school of May,
the lamp of faith may shine ever more brightly in the
hearts of Christians and in their homes."
The Holy Father then turned to reflect on ......................

Pope Benedict XVI, Shepherd of Truth
Notable quotations from Pope Benedict XVI and official
teachings of the Roman Catholic Church
GRANDPARENTS
WITNESSES OF HISTORY
They were witnesses of a personal and community history
that continued to live on in their memories and in their wisdom.
"BETTER VALUED"
It is necessary to join forces to defeat together all forms of
marginalization, for it is not only they — grandfathers,
grandmothers, senior citizens — who are being injured by
the individualistic mindset, but everyone. If grandparents,
as is often said and on many sides, are a precious resource,
it is necessary to put into practice coherent choices that
allow them to be better valued.
"THE LIGHT OF THE TRUTH"
Old age, with its problems that are also linked to the new
family and social contexts because of modern development,
should be evaluated carefully and always in the light of the
truth about man, the family, and the community. It is always
necessary to react strongly to what dehumanizes society.
