PM eNewsletter The third Sunday in ordinary time

January 24th The third Sunday in ordinary time

Jesus, we celebrate the conversion of St. Paul this week.

Help us to always be converting to a more intimate relationship
to You.

Help us see that in the life of service that You call us to, that we
have to keep renewing our committments to You.

We can never be satisfied until like You, in true faith we can walk
on water.

Help us, Chrsit, to be always and everywhere trying to be more
apostalic in our lives and more evangelical in our being You to others.

Amen and Amen.

Thank you Lord, for loving us totally.

One Bread, One Body

This weeks readings and reflections

Sunday THE BIBLE CHALLENGE
http://presentationministries.com/obob/obob.asp?d=1/24/2010

"He came to Nazareth where He had been reared, and entering
the synagogue on the sabbath as He was in the habit of doing,
He stood up to do the reading." —Luke 4:16

Jesus began His public ministry reading and proclaiming God's
word. Ezra began a renewal of the Israelite nation by reading
and teaching God's word from daybreak to midday (Neh 8:3, 8).
We too can begin this year with an extensive time in God's
word. Consider committing yourself to read and pray the Bible
for an hour a day until the beginning of Lent. If this seems too
much, commit yourself to fifteen to thirty minutes of daily Bible
reading for the next two weeks.

When we deeply expose ourselves to God's word, we are
purified of evil (Eph 5:26) and trimmed of that which limits our
growth in the Lord (Jn 15:3). By receiving God's word, we hear
the Lord better and grow in faith (Rm 10:17). God's word will
help us know ourselves better by judging the thoughts and
reflections of our hearts (Heb 4:12). By God's word, we are fed
spiritually (Mt 4:4), made joyful, and strengthened (Neh 8:10).
God's word will make us "fully competent and equipped for
every good work" (2 Tm 3:17).

These are only a few effects of God's word. His word is so
living, effective (Heb 4:12), powerful, and rich that this may
well be the best year of our lives if we begin it with a deep
experience of the word.

Monday ROAD-KILL

"He is here now with authorization from the chief priests to
arrest any who invoke Your name." —Acts 9:14

Tuesday BE A TITUS
http://presentationministries.com/obob/obob.asp?d=1/26/2010

"Titus, my own true child." —Titus 1:4

Pope Benedict XVI, Shepherd of Truth
http://presentationministries.com/BST/bst2009-08.asp?navlink=latest

Notable quotations from Pope Benedict XVI and official
teachings of the Roman Catholic Church

PEACE AND CREATION

"PROFOUNDLY LINKED"

May this be clear to world leaders and to those ... who are
concerned for the future of humanity: the protection of
creation and peacemaking are profoundly linked.

"HISTORIC OPPORTUNITY"

The ecological crisis offers an historic opportunity to
develop a common plan of action aimed at orienting the
model of global development towards greater respect for
creation and for an integral human development inspired
by the values proper to charity in truth.

"THE QUEST FOR PEACE"

The quest for peace by people of good will surely would
become easier if all acknowledge the indivisible
relationship between God, human beings and the whole
of creation.
