January 11th, the baptism of the Lord
Oh Jesus, You, who are eternally free of sin, in order
to give obedience to the Father, was baptised to show
us the need we will all have to enter the baptisimal
font to be freed of the stain of original sin.
You have always been the guide to life, and You gave us
an everlasting guide through the presence of the Holy
Spirit.
Jesus, help us all to renew our baptismal promises to
renounce sin and all evil influences in our lives.
Let Your baptism renew in us the desire to serve You
more and more every day, freed from the stain of sin.
Let us joyfully come to Your church and proclaim You,
by loving ourselves, and others with true christian
understanding and charity.
Help us to forgive any who have hurt us, and let us ask
for forgiveness for any we have hurt.
Let us praise and glorify You by asking for and
accepting Your gift of love.
Amen and Amen.
Thank You Lord, for loving us totally.

One Bread, One Body
This weeks readings and reflections
Sunday "THE PROMISE OF MY FATHER" (Lk 24:49)

"Jesus came from Nazareth in Galilee and was baptized
in the Jordan." -Mark 1:9
At the Jordan river, God told Joshua: "Today I will
begin to exalt you in the sight of all Israel, that
they may know I am with you" (Jos 3:7). Then Joshua
led the Israelites across the Jordan river into the
land of promise (Jos 3:14ff). Once in the promised
land, the Israelites "ate their fill; when filled,
they became proud of heart and forgot" God (Hos 13:6).
In the same Jordan river, Jesus, the new Joshua, was
baptized. When Jesus rose out of the waters of the
Jordan, God exalted Him in the sight of all by
testifying that Jesus is His beloved Son
(Lk 3:21-22; 1 Jn 5:9). Jesus left the Jordan and
walked into the same promised land as Joshua had
earlier, inviting us all to a fresh start and a new
baptismal fullness.
In this land of promise, Jesus tells us: "I send down
upon you the promise of My Father" (Lk 24:49), life in
the Holy Spirit. Jesus baptizes us into God's family
that we "might become sharers of the divine nature"
(2 Pt 1:4). He lavishes the Spirit on us (Ti 3:6;
Jn 3:34) to give us abundant life (Jn 10:10; Is
55:2-3).
On this last day of the Christmas season, promise the
Lord that you won't become proud and forget Him as did
the Israelites. Keep your promise by letting Jesus
"baptize you in the Holy Spirit" (Mk 1:8). Each day,
"seek the Lord" and "listen to" Jesus (Is 55:6; Lk
9:35). Live the "radical newness" of your Baptismal
life (Lay Members of Christ's Faithful People, Pope
John Paul II, 10).
Prayer: "God indeed is my Savior; I am confident and
unafraid. My strength and my courage is the Lord"
(Is 12:2).
Promise: "All you who are thirsty, come to the water!"
-Is 55:1
Praise: Praise Jesus, the Father's beloved Son in Whom
He is well pleased! (Mt 3:17)

Please pray that I have peace in my life. I have an abusive brother
who is such a bully, non-stop fighting with me, screaming, yelling,
cursing, hanging up on the phone on me, constantly on top of me, and
attempting to make all the laws for me, and has made my life so
miserable and is taking full control over me since the passing of my
dear Mother (RIP) and has a wife who is a 2-faced cut-throat
backstabber. My life is never going to be the same. I have been
praying so hard for peace and feel this will never come to me. What
am I supposed to do? I want him out of my life completely. He just
keeps pushing, pushing and he will not stop at me. He is an unhappily
married man, who is constantly laying the law down for me.

Local Numbers Double Practically Overnight!
The Bible Telephone Line (BTL) has been in operation for 19 years. Begun by Fr. Al
in 1991, it now continues with three teachers trained by him and by Presentation
Ministries. In cities where local numbers have been established, the BTL provides
callers with a short teaching on the readings for the daily Mass. It is available 24
hours a day and 7 days a week. Callers may also leave a short prayer request which
will be shared on the line with the other callers the next day.

THROW AWAY CULTURE
Children are thrown away, young people are thrown away, because they
have no work, and the elderly are thrown away with the pretence of
maintaining a "balanced" economy, which has at its center not the
human person but money. We are all called to oppose this poisonous,
throw away culture!
BUILD A BETTER SOCIETY
We Christians, together with all people of good will, are called to
patiently build a more diverse, more welcoming, more humane, more
inclusive society that does not need to discard those who are weak in
body and mind. On the contrary we need a society which measures its
success on how the weak are cared for.

As Christians and as citizens, we are called to envision, with
