HIS WORD IS LIFE
"They proclaimed the word of God." —Acts 13:5
After rising from the dead, Jesus spent the afternoon and the evening
explaining the Bible (Lk 24:27). When God's word comes alive in our hearts
(Lk 24:45), we will be ready to recognize Jesus alive and risen from the
dead. We realize we can't live on bread alone, but on every word which
comes from the mouth of God (Mt 4:4). With St. Jerome, we see more and
more that "ignorance of the Scriptures is ignorance of Christ" (Catechism,
133). We are committed to spread God's word (Acts 12:24) "in any and every
way" (see Phil 1:18). As a resurrection-people who have found God's word
and made it the joy and the happiness of our hearts (Jer 15:16), we have
experienced God's word as spirit and life (Jn 6:63). We know our response
to God's word will determine where we spend eternity. We will be judged by
the word (Jn 12:48).
Therefore, teaching God's word is extremely important. We are privileged
to do it through this book, One Bread, One Body. Thanks to all who make
this ministry of the word possible. Thanks to those who work in this
ministry, distribute books, and contribute money. Thanks to all who hear
the word of God and act on it (Lk 8:21). Praise Jesus, the living Word of
God!
Prayer: Father, may Your word have its rightful place in my life.
Promise: "After they had fasted and prayed, they imposed hands on them and
sent them off." —Acts 13:3
Praise: Even while dying in a nursing home, Rhonda continued to distribute
One Bread, One Body booklets to fellow patients and staff.
