PM eNewsletter Fifth Sunday of Easter

April 20th, Fifth Sunday of Easter

Jesus, this weeks Gospel tells us that You are the way,
the truth and the life.

Yet Jesus, society, our own distorted desires, and our
human weaknesses, stops us from really letting You truly
be the Lord of our lives.

We think we have the answer, or that we have to be in
charge, and yet, Jesus, this is so far from the truth.

You, Christ, are the way, not us, not the world, not the
things of the world, but only You.

Christ, help us to really let go and let You be the true
head of our personal body, and the church.

Let us realize that in letting You be the way, we are
letting ourselves get out of the center, and letting You
be the center.

Christ, only in You will we ever truly have rest.

Let us get on our knees, and truly beg You to grace us
to let go, and let You take over in all of our problems,
and distractions of life.

Let us just bow to You. Amen and Amen.

Thank you, Lord Jesus, for loving us totally.

One Bread, One Body

This weeks readings and reflections

Sunday THE COMPLAINT DEPARTMENT

http://presentationministries.com/obob/obob.asp?d=4/20/2008

"In those days, as the number of disciples grew, the ones
who spoke Greek complained that their widows were being
neglected in the daily distribution of food." —Acts 6:1

Is any group complaining in your church, community, family,
or ministry? You may be thinking of handling the problem
yourself, but watch out. The time you devote to dealing
with the complaints may take away from your ministry of
the word (see Acts 6:2). Rather, you may be called to
raise up new leaders while you concentrate on prayer and
the ministry of the word (Acts 6:3-4).

Complaints can result in a cycle of overload for leaders,
distraction from priorities, burnout, and more complaints.
Conversely, complaints can lead to the raising up of new
leadership (see Ex 18:13-26), the strengthening of older
leaders, increased evangelization, and unity in the
Christian community. When complaints lead to new
leaders being raised up and not older leaders being
distracted from their priorities, the word of God continues
"to spread, while at the same time the number of the
disciples" enormously increases (Acts 6:7).

Complaints are raw materials for the best or worst.
Complaints are not necessarily good or bad in themselves,
but how we deal with them will often be very good or very
bad. May we respond to today's complaints in such a way
as to lead to the greatest Pentecost ever three weeks
from today.

GIFT-LISTS
"Seek eagerly after love. Set your hearts on spiritual
gifts." —1 Corinthians 14:1

Pope John Paul II has taught: "The Holy Spirit, while
bestowing diverse ministries in Church communion,
enriches it still further with particular gifts or promptings
of grace, called charisms...The charisms are received
in gratitude both on the part of the one who receives
them, and also on the part of the entire Church. They
are in fact a singularly rich source of grace for the
vitality of the apostolate and for the holiness of the
whole Body of Christ (The Lay Members of Christ's
Faithful People, 24).

Pope John Paul II has also taught: "The Spirit of Jesus,
received by the humble and docile heart of the believer,
brings about the flourishing of Christian moral life and
the witness of holiness amid the great variety of
vocations, gifts, responsibilities, conditions and life
situations. As Novatian once pointed out — here
expressing the authentic faith of the Church — it is
the Holy Spirit 'who confirmed the hearts and minds
of the disciples, who revealed the mysteries of the
Gospel, who shed upon them .............

(RA, Trinidad and Tobago, 4/19/2008 11:07:56 AM)

Pray for my adult daughter, Amy, who has lot her zeal
for the RC Church. She is a convert and is having second
thoughts about her decision to come into the Church.
Coming from a protestant background, she says she
misses some of the "bells and whistles" she enjoyed
before, i.e., bible study groups, more "entertainment"
during worship, children's church. Pray that she can
find spiritual fulfillment and the love of Christ through
community in the Church. Our parish is large and it is
easy to come and go without notice.
(nancy, 4/19/2008 8:46:45 AM)

Lord Jesus, I pray for those who've prayed for me when
I was left astray without a job and felt very low. Lord
bless them and shower them with their love. I also pray
for my enemies, Lord let them have a faster conversion.
I believe in Thou Love my Lord Jesus and thank you for
all your blessings till date my Lord.
(Anish, 4/19/2008 2:09:37 AM)

Lord Jesus, do not forsake your children who cry unto
thee. There are too many of my brethren left without a
job and find it hard to feed their family. Lord, my merciful
Father, I pray thee to have mercy on us your children
and we ask this favor in the mighty name of thy son our
Lord Jesus who was crucified for my sins and raised on
the third day. Thank you Jesus.

Pope Benedict XVI

World needs Christians whose faith is apostolic,
Pope tells gathering
http://www.catholicnewsagency.com/new.php?n=12388

New York, Apr 18, 2008 / 06:09 pm (CNA).- Around 300
people involved in ecumenical dialogue gathered on Friday
evening at St. Joseph's Catholic Church to hear
Pope Benedict speak to them about their efforts at
strengthening Christian unity. The Pope told the
congregation that the world needs to see the witness
of a united Christian community and that this can only
be achieved by a Christianity founded on a
non-relativistic faith, a faith based on the certain
teachings of the apostles.

The Holy Father began his address to the 250 Protestant
and Orthodox leaders, who were joined by the 50 Catholics,
by highlighting the impact of the ecumenical movement in
the US saying, "The contribution of Christians in the
United States to the ecumenical movement is felt
throughout the world."

Following a reading from Paul's letter to the Ephesians,
the Pope said, "Paul's exhortation resounds with no less
vigor today. His words instill in us the confidence that

Pope Benedict XVI, Shepherd of Truth

Notable quotations from Pope Benedict XVI and official
teachings of the Roman Catholic Church

THE MEDIA

"INTEGRAL PART"

There is no area of human experience, especially given
the vast phenomenon of globalization in which the media
have not become an integral part of interpersonal relations
and of social, economic, political and religious development.

POTENTIAL OR PROBLEMS?

In view of their meteoric technological evolution, the media
have acquired extraordinary potential, while raising new and
hitherto unimaginable questions and problems.
