PM eNewsletter Fourth Sunday of Easter

April 13th, Fourth Sunday of Easter

Jesus, this weeks gospel talks of following the voice of
the true shepherd, and Lord there is really only one voice
that we should learn to hear and follow, and that is Your
voice speaking to us mostly through the church.

Let us gladly follow the true shepherd, the Pope, and
his successors.

Let us truly be Catholic in all of our ways of life, and see
that You, through the power of the Holy Spirit, is truly
guiding our church.

Let us see what a great gift You gave us when You gave
us the Advocate to lead us through all of the church's history.

Sometimes Jesus, we want to say no, and do what we
want to do, no matter if it is really right.

Grace us Christ, to bow in submission to Your lawful
shepherds, and truly come to know the peace that only
You can give.

Let that peace guide us to all truth in, to, and through
You. Amen and Amen

Thank you, Lord Jesus, for loving us totally.

One Bread, One Body

This weeks readings and reflections

Sunday PROMISE-KEEPERS

http://presentationministries.com/obob/obob.asp?d=4/13/2008

"You must reform and be baptized, each one of you, in the
name of Jesus Christ." —Acts 2:38
"Those who accepted his message were baptized; some
three thousand were added that day." —Acts 2:41

Three weeks ago, at Easter Sunday Mass, the Church led
us to renew our baptismal promises. We prepared for this
renewal by forty days of Lenten penance through
almsgiving, prayer, and fasting. The Lord wants these
baptismal promises to be the center of our year and the
foundation of our life in Him.

How aware (see Rm 6:3) are you of having renewed your
baptismal promises three weeks ago? Have you turned
off the TV after remembering you had rejected all of
Satan's empty promises? Have you decided not to buy
something because you had rejected all of Satan's
works? When you are tempted to be manipulated by fear,
do you resist because you believe God is your Father?
Has your faith in Jesus' lordship affected your
decision-making? Has your belief in the Holy Spirit
noticeably affected your lifestyle?

On Easter Sunday, when we renewed our baptismal
promises, we repented from all our sins, accepted Jesus
as Savior, Lord, and God, sold all that we had to enter
God's kingdom (Mt 13:44-46), and surrendered our lives
to the Holy Spirit. Now we must keep and apply the
promises we've made.

"Why do you search for the Living One among the dead?
He is not here; He has been raised up." —Luke 24:5-6

Alleluia! Jesus is risen! He's alive! "O death, where is your
victory? O death, where is your sting?" (1 Cor 15:55) We
as Christians have personally had the most overwhelming
experience imaginable. The One Who loves us so much,
Who would do anything for us, was brutally murdered by
crucifixion. To have a loved one die is traumatic enough
without it being a violent murder. Amazingly, this Victim
came out of the grave on the third day. We who love Him
are transformed from a shattered life to victory, from
weeping to joy, and from mourning to dancing (Ps 30:6, 12).
Imagine a dead parent, spouse, or friend walking in the
room right now. This would be a shadow of what happens
when we meet the risen Christ.

We may think we cannot meet the risen Jesus because
His body is no longer with us but is ascended to the
right hand of the Father. This is irrelevant. The physical
body of the risen Christ had little effect on those that
encountered Him. Mary Magdalene thought He was the
gardener (Jn 20:15). The two disciples on the road to
Emmaus walked about seven miles with Him and still
did not recognize His glorified body (Mk 16:12). What
they did notice was their hearts burning as Jesus
explained the Scriptures to them (Lk 24:32). This was
the beginning of meeting the risen Lord (Lk 24:8; Jn 20:9).
Then, together with the breaking of ..............................

PM Internet Prayer Requests
http://www.presentationministries.com/prayer/prayer.asp

My college-age son is hurting. He is looking for answers
outside of God's purpose and plan for his life. I am afraid for
him, not for physical danger but for his character--lying,
slothfulness, no Godly ambition, rejection of family values,
disrespect for authority, addiction to ungodly music, etc. My
heart hurts. Please pray for him. His name is Andrew.
(NBM, Carrollton, GA, 4/12/2008 7:22:44 PM)

Please pray that our Holy Father will be safe from all harm
during his visit to the US, and that our love for the Church
in Vatican II will touch his heart, and move him to prosper
those entities which further our faith in hope, in justice, in
mercy, and in charity in true imitation of Christ, our Lord.
(Anonymous, 4/12/2008 6:22:16 PM)

dying; please, God, work a miracle and cure him for your
glory. For other friends in financial difficulty including Ann

Pope Benedict XVI

Pope: The Church's opposition to divorce and abortion is a
'yes' to human dignity

http://www.catholicnewsagency.com/new.php?n=12260

Vatican City, Apr 7, 2008 / 11:37 am (CNA).- On Saturday,
the Holy Father received 300 participants in an international
congress entitled: "Oil on the wounds. A response to the
blight of abortion and divorce". In his address of the two
topics, he stated that though abortion and divorce are
separate decisions, they both "leave wounds that mark
life indelibly."

At the event, which was promoted by the John Paul II
Institute for Studies on Marriage and the Family in
collaboration with the Knights of Columbus, Pope Benedict
stated that the effects of individualism and hedonism have
left the world without adequate social support. This leads
people to make, "decisions that contrast with the
indissolubility of the conjugal bond and with the respect
due to human life freshly conceived and still guarded in
the maternal womb."

The Pope continued by explaining the impact of divorce
and abortion on the human person. "The Church's ethical
judgment concerning abortion and divorce is clear and
well-known to everyone: they are grave sins which - in

Pope Benedict XVI, Shepherd of Truth

Notable quotations from Pope Benedict XVI and official
teachings of the Roman Catholic Church

VOCATIONS AND MISSION

"FAITHFUL SERVANTS"

Innumerable missionaries, throughout the centuries, as
faithful servants of the Church, docile to the action of the
Holy Spirit, have followed in the footsteps of the first
disciples.

"ALL ONE'S LIFE"

The love of Christ must be communicated ... by example
and words with all one's life.

"TOTALLY DEDICATED"

Among those totally dedicated to the service of the
Gospel , are priests, called to preach the word of God,
administer the sacraments, especially the Eucharist
and Reconciliation, committed to helping the lowly, the
sick, the suffering, the poor, and those who experience
hardship in areas of the world where there are, at times,
many who still have not had a real encounter with Jesus Christ.
