The editor

March 29th Fifth Sunday of Lent

Jesus, Lent is practically over, and we pray that we now know what exactly
you want us to give You as an Easter present.

Lord, what sin or defect of ours do You want that will help free us from
the snares and entrapments of this world?

Jesus, You gave us Lent as a time to pray, fast, and give alms, and You
also gave us Lent as a time of personal growth to You.

Help us to see that You always want us to become more like You, by growing
in spirituality, and getting freed from the ways fo the world.

By this freedom, we will be able to see the needs of others with clear
eyes, that see to the heart.

Let us be vessels of love and forgivness to all.

Thank You for Your love. Amen and Amen

Thank you Lord, for loving us totally.

One Bread, One Body

This weeks readings and reflections

Sunday COMING ATTRACTION
http://presentationministries.com/obob/obob.asp?d=3/29/2009

"The hour has come." —John 12:23

Jesus told His hearers that the hour of His death was approaching.
He observed: "I solemnly assure you, unless the grain of wheat
falls to the earth and dies, it remains just a grain of wheat. But if
it dies, it produces much fruit" (Jn 12:24). The burial of the seed
in the soil is not its final end, but a time of transition. The life in
the seed "dies," but this death leads to a different life that bears
much fruit (Jn 12:24).

The Greek word translated "die" in John 12:24 literally means to
"die away." Each day, we must die away from our sins and desires.
Even while receiving the Bread of Life, we still focus on dying away
(1 Cor 11:26). We die to ourselves (Lk 9:23) and continually "carry
about in our bodies the dying of Jesus" (2 Cor 4:10). The more we
die away, the more the life of Jesus is revealed in us (2 Cor 4:10).

When Jesus was lifted up on the cross to die, He attracted all to
Himself (Jn 12:32). His death gathered many together (Jn 11:51-52).
How will it be at your death? For some of you, "the hour" of your
death is coming soon (Jn 12:23). Will your death glorify God and
attract many to Jesus? You can increase the glory God will receive
at your death by daily "dying away" so as to allow His life to
overshadow you. Die to yourself daily, lay down your life for Jesus,
and prepare to bear an attractive and attracting harvest for the glory
of God.

Monday CONDEMNED?

"Jesus said, 'Nor do I condemn you. You may go. But from now on,
avoid this sin.' " —John 8:11

· The Secret of Fasting

The Secret of Fasting
Fasting is limiting our intake of food in response to God's call
and for the building of His kingdom. Almost all the great men
and women of God throughout history have known a secret,
the secret of fasting. They have understood the power and the
privilege of fasting. We cannot fast unless we have God's
permission. But when God permits us to fast, we have the
opportunity to be in the forefront of His work. We are honored
to be chosen to have such an important part in the Spirit's
movement. Fasting is a power, privilege, opportunity, and
honor. But only those who know the secret recognize this.

OLD AND NEW TESTAMENT FASTING

Throughout much of the Old Testament, there was only one
fast day, the Day of Atonement (Lev 16:29). Later, other fasts
were called for either because of a state of emergency or on
the anniversary of a national tragedy (Zech 7:3-4). Fasting was
an attempt to end a terrible circumstance.

In the new covenant, we fast in a different way, as
after .............................

Pope Benedict XVI, Shepherd of Truth
Notable quotations from Pope Benedict XVI and official teachings of the
Roman Catholic Church

YOUTH AND HOPE

"WITNESSES TO THE RISEN CHRIST"
Follow the example of Paul and be witnesses to the Risen Christ! Make
Christ known...to those who are in search of "the great hope" that would
give meaning to their lives.

COMMUNICATE THE HOPE OF JESUS
If Jesus has become your hope, communicate this to others with your joy
and your spiritual, apostolic and social engagement. Let Christ dwell
within you, and having placed all your faith and trust in Him, spread this
hope around you. Make choices that demonstrate your faith.

"FIRM AND RELIABLE"
The question of hope is truly central to our lives as human beings and our
mission as Christians, especially in these times. We are all aware of the
need for hope, not just any kind of hope, but a firm and reliable hope.
