God Bless you and all you care for.
The editor

March 8th Second Sunday of Lent

Jesus, in this special time, give us the desire to come and
just sit with You.

Let us just relax with You, and feel the joy and peace that
only You can give.

Let Your true presence in Your Eucharist free us from
anything that doesn't give You praise and glory, and help
us confess whatever it is in Your sacrament of reconciliation.

Let Your Divine Spirit come upon us, and fill us with the
knowledge that we are loved by You in a way that is
impossible to understand, without Your Spirit residing in us.

Let us not only see You in the Eucharist, but also see You
within everyone that is in our lives.

Thank You Jesus for Your love, and thank You Jesus for
Your food of Life. Amen and Amen

Thank you Lord, for loving us totally.

One Bread, One Body

This weeks readings and reflections

Sunday IN GOD WE TRUST?
http://presentationministries.com/obob/obob.asp?d=3/8/2009

"God put Abraham to the test." —Genesis 22:1

Lent is a season of being put to the test (see Mt 4:1; Gn 22:1).
God, "the Tester of our hearts" (1 Thes 2:4), brings us to
obedience school this Lent. He is testing us to see if we trust
His promises or if our hearts are far from Him and we've just
been giving Him "lip service" (Mk 7:6). Three days ago, the
Church proclaimed Jesus' promise that God wants to provide
our needs (Mt 7:7-11). Tomorrow Jesus promises us that if we
give, God will provide for us lavishly (Lk 6:38).

Do we believe God and His promises? Our lifestyle tells Him
whether or not we trust His promises. For example, Abraham
trusted God for his family even when he couldn't see a way
out of the test (Heb 11:8). This Lent, many are also being
tested in the area of conceiving another child. Some will pay
more attention to their financial situation or how much energy
they have and pay little attention to God and His promises to
provide for them. While it is wise to make prudent decisions
(see Lk 14:28), this test is not about prudence. It is about
trusting God and abandoning yourself into His hands. You
can trust every one of God's promises (Jos 23:14; 2 Cor 1:20).

"No test has been sent you that does not come to all men.
Besides, God keeps His promise. He will not let you be tested
beyond your strength. Along with the test He will give you a
way out of it so that you will be able to endure it" (1 Cor 10:13).
The exam is beginning. Pass the trust test.

Although the Lord reveals to us in His word that we are in a
spiritual war, most Christians don't seem to take this very
seriously. How much do you hear about spiritual warfare
from the pulpit? If you brought up spiritual warfare in your
parish council meetings, what would be the reaction? A
few Christians try to "push" spiritual warfare, but they are
usually dismissed as "fundamentalist" and not given a
hearing. Consequently, many Christians give little

Pope Benedict XVI, Shepherd of Truth

Notable quotations from Pope Benedict XVI and official
teachings of the Roman Catholic Church

LENT AND FASTING

"EXPERIENCE GOD'S POWER"

At the beginning of Lent, which constitutes an itinerary
of more intense spiritual training, the Liturgy sets before
us ... three penitential practices that are very dear to the
biblical and Christian tradition — prayer, almsgiving,
fasting — to prepare us to better celebrate Easter and
thus experience God's power.

FOCUS ON FASTING

I wish to focus my reflections especially on the value and
meaning of fasting.... Lent recalls the forty days of our
Lord's fasting in the desert, which He undertook before
entering into His public ministry.

"A SERIOUS BATTLE"

Jesus ... through prayer and fasting, prepared Himself for
the mission that lay before Him, marked at the start by a
serious battle with the tempter.
