REJECTION

"The Stone Which the builders rejected has become the Keystone of the
structure." —Matthew 21:42

The devil tempts us to reject the most important parts of God's plan of
salvation. Joseph's brothers rejected him (Gn 37:20) although he was
called by God to save the people. The Jewish religious leaders rejected
Jesus the Messiah.

For centuries the Catholic Church unofficially ignored the importance of
God's Word, while officially accepting it. The Protestants have rejected
Jesus in the Eucharist. More recently, even some Catholics have rejected
Jesus in the Eucharist, not so much doctrinally as practically. By locking
their churches for fear of vandalism, Catholics de-emphasize daily Mass
and discourage visits to the Blessed Sacrament. Many Christians from
several denominations reject and stifle the Holy Spirit, even though
without the Spirit we cannot please God (Rm 8:8).

We are still rejecting the Keystone of the structure. Repent!

Prayer: Lord, You've never rejected me, but I've frequently rejected You.
From this Lent on may I never reject you again.

Promise: "The kingdom of God will be taken away from you and given to a
nation that will yield a rich harvest." —Mt 21:43

Praise: At times when feeling personally rejected, Maria remembers He Who
is the most rejected.
