A MAKE-UP CALL
"At Jesus' name every knee must bend in the heavens, on the earth, and under the earth, and every tongue proclaim to the glory of God the Father: JESUS CHRIST IS LORD!" -Philippians 2:10-11
Jesus emptied Himself (Phil 2:7) to become a human being. He became a slave for us (Phil 2:7), and He died the death of a slave for love of us. He humbled Himself and obediently accepted death on a cross (Phil 2:8).
Although Jesus has loved us so much that He became a human being and died for us, many human beings have chosen to reject Him. "To His own He came, yet His own did not accept Him" (Jn 1:11). How can it be that the most perfect, sacrificial love ever given is rejected! The One Who alone has never rejected anyone (Jn 6:37) is rejected more than everyone else put together.
Let us make reparation to the broken, Sacred Heart of Jesus. We should tell Him we're sorry for what we and others have done to hurt Him. We must tell Him we love Him, and then we must make our whole lives an act of love for Him. We should thank Him for having mercy on us in His Incarnation and Crucifixion. At the very least, we should be ashamed and repentant of our callousness and cruelty against Him. He will forgive us. Sacred, broken heart of Jesus, have mercy on us.
Prayer: Jesus, may I be shocked by humanity's cruelty toward You on Calvary and in our everyday lives.
Promise: "Go out into the highways and along the hedgerows and force them to come in. I want My house to be full." -Lk 14:23
Praise: Pedro struggled with a tendency to use profanity. He resolved to read Scripture daily to fill his mind with God's good words to overcome his own foul words (see Lk 6:45). Now his native language is "Scripture."

OUT OF COMPETITION
"Never act out of rivalry or conceit." -Philippians 2:3
The Lord commands us to never act out of rivalry (competition), because it seems related to conceit, that is, pride. However, in our culture we defy God by acting in competition in almost everything. For instance, from grades and sports to dates and scholarships, school is highly competitive. Work and entertainment are based on competition. Even family life is shot through with sibling rivalry. In our culture, we live, breathe, and eat competition. We don't know how else to live.
The Lord, however, commands us not to compete. "Rather, let all parties think humbly of others as superior to themselves, each of you looking to others' interests rather than to his own" (Phil 2:3-4). If we took these words to heart, our whole lives and even the world would change. This is exactly what Jesus wants.
To be a doer and not just a hearer (see Jas 1:22) of today's shocking words from Jesus:
* compose a prayer paraphrasing Philippians 2:3-4,
* pray this prayer daily for as long as it takes,
* go to Confession, and
* obey the Lord.
Live one verse of the Bible and change the world, as you let God change you.
Prayer: Father, show me how to relate to people and how to live in a new way.
Promise: "You will be repaid in the resurrection of the just." -Lk 14:14
Praise: Fred serves Jesus by lovingly caring for mentally retarded children.
(Advent is approaching. Pray about ordering our leaflet, "An Isaiah Advent".)

PM eNewsletter 31st Sunday in ordinary time
November 4th Thirty-first Sunday in ordinary time
This week, oh! Jesus, we celebrate the feasts of "All Saints" and
"All Souls" days.
Help us to really make a conscious effort to intercede to the saints,
so that they can intercede for us.
Help us to realize that as they love You, so they also love Your
children living on earth.
Help us also pray for the souls in purgatory, so that they may soon
be released into Your heavenly kingdom where they can spend
eternity in glory and adoration of the triune God.
Thank You for all the saints in heaven and in purgatory.
Amen and Amen.
Thanks to You, Lord, for loving us totally.

One Bread, One Body
This weeks readings and reflections
Sunday ALL OR NOTHING
http://presentationministries.com/obob/obob.asp?lang=en&d=11/4/2012
"The Lord is our God, the Lord alone! Therefore, you shall love the Lord, your God, with
all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your strength. Take to heart these
words which I enjoin on you today." -Deuteronomy 6:4-6
When you ask people if they've given their lives to Jesus, they say "yes." When you ask
if they evangelize, tithe, or read the Bible, they often say "no," as if evangelizing,
tithing, or knowing the Bible were not essential parts of our commitment to Christ. This
does not mean we must be perfect in fulfilling our commitment to Christ, but it does
mean that we must make a total commitment.
The first of all commandments is: "You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart,
with all your soul, with all your mind, and with all your strength" (Mk 12:30). The Lord
says the word "all" four times. However, most Christians seem to be surprised when you
tell them "all" means all.
Christianity is all or nothing. Jesus died on the cross and gave everything for us that
we might give everything to Him. If He's not Lord of all, He's not Lord at all. Jesus
can save only our entire life and not parts of it. One-hundred percent is the only
percent Jesus accepts. His kingdom can be purchased only by our "all" (Mt 13:44-46).
Prayer: Jesus, I give You all of me.
Promise: "Therefore He is always able to save those who approach God through Him, since
He forever lives to make intercession for them." -Heb 7:25
Praise: Praise Jesus, "the Resurrection and the Life!" (Jn 11:25) "Praised be the Lord,
I exclaim" (Ps 18:4). Alleluia!

PEACE IN THE MIDDLE EAST
"PEACEFUL HEARTS"
May God grant to your country, to Syria and to the Middle East the gift of peaceful hearts,
the silencing of weapons and the cessation of all violence! May men understand that they
are all brothers!
WITNESS TO GOD'S PRESENCE
May Lebanon continue to be a place where men and women can live in harmony and peace with
each other, in order to give the world not only a witness to the presence of God ... but
also a witness to the communion between people, ... whatever their political, social or
religious standpoint.
PRAYER FOR LEBANON
I pray to God for Lebanon, that she may live in peace and courageously resist all that
could destroy or undermine that peace. I hope that Lebanon will continue to permit the
plurality of religious traditions and not listen to those who wish to prevent it.

Local Numbers Double Practically Overnight!
The Bible Telephone Line (BTL) has been in operation for 19 years. Begun by Fr. Al
in 1991, it now continues with three teachers trained by him and by Presentation
Ministries. In cities where local numbers have been established, the BTL provides
callers with a short teaching on the readings for the daily Mass. It is available 24
hours a day and 7 days a week. Callers may also leave a short prayer request which
will be shared on the line with the other callers the next day.

Notable quotations from Pope Benedict XVI and official
teachings of the Roman Catholic Church

ALL OR NOTHING - One Bread, One Body, 11/4/2012
Sunday, November 4, 2012, 31st Sunday Ordinary Time
Deuteronomy 6:2-6, Hebrews 7:23-28, Psalm 18:2-4, 47, 51, Mark 12:28-34

ALL OR NOTHING
"The Lord is our God, the Lord alone! Therefore, you shall love the Lord, your God, with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your strength. Take to heart these words which I enjoin on you today." -Deuteronomy 6:4-6
When you ask people if they've given their lives to Jesus, they say "yes." When you ask if they evangelize, tithe, or read the Bible, they often say "no," as if evangelizing, tithing, or knowing the Bible were not essential parts of our commitment to Christ. This does not mean we must be perfect in fulfilling our commitment to Christ, but it does mean that we must make a total commitment.
The first of all commandments is: "You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your mind, and with all your strength" (Mk 12:30). The Lord says the word "all" four times. However, most Christians seem to be surprised when you tell them "all" means all.
Christianity is all or nothing. Jesus died on the cross and gave everything for us that we might give everything to Him. If He's not Lord of all, He's not Lord at all. Jesus can save only our entire life and not parts of it. One-hundred percent is the only percent Jesus accepts. His kingdom can be purchased only by our "all" (Mt 13:44-46).
Prayer: Jesus, I give You all of me.
Promise: "Therefore He is always able to save those who approach God through Him, since He forever lives to make intercession for them." -Heb 7:25
Praise: Praise Jesus, "the Resurrection and the Life!" (Jn 11:25) "Praised be the Lord, I exclaim" (Ps 18:4). Alleluia!
(For a related teaching, order our leaflet, Clarity, Certainty, and Commitment".)

THE NEW MILLENNIUM MIND - One Bread, One Body, 11/3/2012
Saturday, November 3, 2012, St. Martin de Porres
Philippians 1:18-26, Psalm 42:2-3, 5, Luke 14:1, 7-11

THE NEW MILLENNIUM MIND
"All that matters is that in any and every way, whether from specious motives or genuine ones, Christ is being proclaimed!" -Philippians 1:18
We can have the mind of Christ (1 Cor 2:16) and believe that proclaiming Christ is all that matters. "That is what brings" us joy (Phil 1:18).
If our minds have been transformed (Rm 12:2) and we have the mind of Christ (see Phil 2:5), then " 'life' means Christ; hence dying is so much gain" (Phil 1:21). We "long to be freed from this life and to be with Christ, for that is the far better thing" (Phil 1:23).
If we have the mind of Christ, we will choose the lowest place (Lk 14:10), empty ourselves (Phil 2:7), and humbly obey the Lord even to death (Phil 2:8).
How can we have the mind of Christ? How can we even want to have the mind of Christ? How can we love God with all our hearts, souls, and minds? (Mt 22:37) How can we get our minds off ourselves? How can we change our minds? "For man it is impossible; but for God all things are possible" (Mt 19:26). In this long-awaited year of the Great Jubilee, cry out for God's grace and mercy. Receive a new millennium mind.
Prayer: Father, may my Baptism fully affect my mind.
Promise: "I have full confidence that now as always Christ will be exalted through me, whether I live or die." -Phil 1:20
Praise: St. Martin was called "the Charitable" because he provided the poor with food, clothing, and medicine.
(For a related teaching, order our tape Developing A Deep, Personal Relationship with Jesus" on audio AV 52-1 or video V-52.)

THERE'S A PLACE FOR US - One Bread, One Body, 11/2/2012
Friday, November 2, 2012, All Souls
Wisdom 3:1-9, 1 Corinthians 15:51-57, Psalm 23:1-6, John 6:37-40
Link to Readings --> http://www.usccb.org/bible/readings/110212.cfm
THERE'S A PLACE FOR US
"Chastised a little, they shall be greatly blessed." -Wisdom 3:5
There is both a quantity and quality of fruit that God expects us to produce in our earthly life (see Mt 21:33ff; Lk 13:6-9; Jn 15:1ff; 15:16). Our fruit of personal holiness and "good works" (Rv 14:13) "must endure" (Jn 15:16).
God is much more than "the Man upstairs" Who is our Friend. He is also our Judge, Who "will test the quality of each man's" good works and holiness (see 1 Cor 3:13). Some of the dead who die in the Lord will not have lived a life as fruitful as God expected. God in His mercy will still grant them eternal life. Thus, these deceased folks "will suffer loss," yet "will be saved, but only as one fleeing through fire" (1 Cor 3:15).
There is a degree of "holiness without which no one can see the Lord" (Heb 12:14). What happens with the above folks who are granted eternal life yet are lacking in the enduring fruit and holiness God requires? Jesus has gone to "prepare a place" for us (Jn 14:2). As the above Scriptures indicate, He also has to prepare us for the place. If we have died in Christ, but aren't yet prepared for His place (see Heb 12:14), then Jesus has to finish the job before He can take us into the heavenly feast. The Catholic Church, guided by the Holy Spirit (Jn 16:13), has taught that the above Scriptures and other truths indicate the existence of a "place" of purification (see Mal 3:2-3) we call purgatory. In purgatory, the souls of those who have not prepared themselves sufficiently in their time on earth are purified for the awesome privilege of seeing God face to face. Since they are fellow members of the body of Christ (Lk 20:38), we need them and they need us (1 Cor 12:21ff). Let us help them with our prayers.
Prayer: Father, may I grow daily in holiness now rather than later. I pray for the souls of those in purgatory to be speedily purified.
Promise: "No one who comes will I ever reject." -Jn 6:37
Praise: Praise the Father of love, risen Savior, and the Spirit of truth!

SAINTS HERE, NOW, AND FOREVER - One Bread, One Body, 11/1/2012
Thursday, November 1, 2012, All Saints
Revelation 7:2-4, 9-14, 1 John 3:1-3, Psalm 24:1-6, Matthew 5:1-12
Link to Readings --> http://www.usccb.org/bible/readings/110112.cfm
SAINTS HERE, NOW, AND FOREVER
"Beloved, we are God's children now; what we shall later be has not yet come to light." -1 John 3:2
Today is your feast day, since you don't have to be dead to be a saint - but baptized. However, if you want this day to remain a day of celebration for you, you must not only be baptized but also live your Baptism.
To live our Baptisms means to be so immersed in Jesus' death and Resurrection that:
* We choose to be poor as He did (Mt 5:3).
* We sorrow when we're not like Him (Mt 5:4).
* We've learned to be lowly (Mt 5:5) and humble of heart (Mt 11:29).
* We hunger and thirst for Jesus' righteousness and not our selfishness (Mt 5:6).
* We forgive others and give them mercy as Jesus did even on the cross (Mt 5:7).
* Jesus is the only Desire of our hearts (Mt 5:8).
* We make peace (Mt 5:9), even if we have to shed our blood as Jesus did (Col 1:20).
* We prefer to be persecuted with and for Jesus rather than to be popular and comfortable (Mt 5:10).
To be a saint is not necessarily to be in heaven now but in Jesus now - in His death and resurrection. If we are like Jesus while on earth, we shall see Him as He is in heaven (1 Jn 3:2). Celebrate All Saints' Day forever.
Prayer: Father, in Jesus make me holy in every aspect of my conduct (1 Pt 1:15).
Promise: "They cried out in a loud voice, 'Salvation is from our God, Who is seated on the throne, and from the Lamb!' " -Rv 7:10
Praise: "Praise and glory, wisdom and thanksgiving and honor, power and might, to our God forever and ever. Amen!" (Rv 7:12)
