CHANGING LEMONS INTO LEMONADE
"The members of the church who had been dispersed went about preaching the word." -Acts 8:4
When the early Christians were chased out of Jerusalem, they went to other towns and chased out unclean spirits. When the Church was being paralyzed and crippled from being persecuted, the wounded Church healed the paralytics and cripples. While the Christians mourned the deaths of martyrs, cities rejoiced because they heard and accepted the gospel (see Acts 8:1-8).
The Lord works everything together for the good of the Church (see Rm 8:28). "If God is for us, who can be against us?" (Rm 8:31) The One in us is greater than the prince of this world (see 1 Jn 4:4; Jn 14:30). God's wounded become healers. "The blood of the martyrs is the seed of Christians" (Catechism, 852, Tertullian). "Continually we carry about in our bodies the dying of Jesus, so that in our bodies the life of Jesus may also be revealed" (2 Cor 4:10). "There is no chaining the word of God!" (2 Tm 2:9)
"Despite the increase of sin, grace has far surpassed it" (Rm 5:20). "When I am powerless, it is then that I am strong" (2 Cor 12:10). "In all this we are more than conquerors because of Him Who has loved us" (Rm 8:37).
Prayer: Father, change my mourning into dancing (Ps 30:12).
Promise: "No one who comes will I ever reject." -Jn 6:37
Praise: Pope St. Martin I wrote from his imprisonment, "God sees all things and I trust in Him."

WHO WILL DIE?
"Those who listened to his words were stung to the heart." -Acts 7:54
At the first Christian Pentecost, many of those who heard Peter preach "were stabbed in the heart" by his words and the convicting power of the Holy Spirit (Acts 2:37, our transl). Three thousand of them repented, were baptized, and received the Holy Spirit (see Acts 2:38, 41).
After Stephen preached, the people hearing him "were cut to the heart" (Acts 7:54, our transl). Nevertheless, they did not repent. Rather, "they ground their teeth in anger at" Stephen (Acts 7:54). "The onlookers were shouting aloud, holding their hands over their ears as they did so. Then they rushed at him as one man, dragged him out of the city, and began to stone him" (Acts 7:54, 57-58).
"God's word is living and effective, sharper than any two-edged sword" (Heb 4:12). God's Word resists our resistance and demands a response. As our hearts begin to burn (Lk 24:32) when they are penetrated by God's Word (Heb 4:12), we will either crucify our flesh "with its passions and desires" (Gal 5:24) or kill the Lord's prophets and thereby continue "crucifying the Son of God" and "holding Him up to contempt" (Heb 6:6).
What will you do? Even if you try to hide from God's Word, His prophets may find you. What will you do when you are confronted with the life-changing demands of God? Say with Mary: "Let it be done to me according to Your word" (Lk 1:38, our transl).
Prayer: "Lord, do not hold this sin against them" (Acts 7:60). "Lord Jesus, receive my spirit" (Acts 7:59).
Promise: "God's bread comes down from heaven and gives life to the world." -Jn 6:33
Praise: Fatima's family disowned her when she converted to faith in Jesus, but God gave her a new family, the Body of Christ.
(Come join us May 20 - 22 for the "Mission of the Church: The Laity's Call to Radiate Joy". The work of the Church is the same today as it was at the first Pentecost. Learn how the people of God are called to respond to the world today. Call 937-587-5464 or see our website to register.)

THE TRUTH IS NOT NEGOTIABLE - One Bread, One Body, 4/11/2016
Monday, April 11, 2016, St. Stanislaus
Acts 6:8-15, Psalm 119:23-24, 26-27, 29-30, John 6:22-29

THE TRUTH IS NOT NEGOTIABLE
"The way of truth I have chosen." -Psalm 119:30
Jesus, the Truth (Jn 14:6), stood for the truth. He paid for this stand with His life, as His opponents used deceit, lies, and intimidation of witnesses to condemn Him to death. St. Stephen stood for the truth. He paid for this stand with his life, as his opponents likewise used deceit, lies, and intimidation of witnesses to condemn him to death.
The Catholic Church stands for the truth, regardless of whether or not the truth is "politically correct." The Church proclaims the truths that Jesus is really present in the Holy Eucharist, that marriage is only between one man and one woman, that homosexual acts are always sinful, that abortion is murder, that contraception is sinful and contrary to God's plan even though most Christian denominations have refused to teach this, that the poor must be defended and have a special dignity, and many other unpopular truths.
In this culture of death and throughout human history, those dedicated to a cause contrary to the truth have generally refused to repent and humbly submit themselves to the truth. These opponents of the truth instead change the language to "call evil good, and good evil" (Is 5:20). These people try to intimidate others into exchanging "the truth of God for a lie" (Rm 1:25).
People of God, imitate Jesus and St. Stephen. "Even to the death fight for truth, and the Lord your God will battle for you" (Sir 4:28). The truth is not negotiable. Speak the truth in love (see Eph 4:15). "The truth will set you free" (Jn 8:32).
Prayer: Father, "we cannot do anything against the truth, but only for the sake of the truth" (2 Cor 13:8). Give Your Church and its members Your very own strength.
Promise: "This is the work of God: have faith in the One Whom He sent." -Jn 6:29
Praise: St. Stanislaus warned the king of danger to his soul and was martyred.

PM eNewsletter Third Sunday of Easter
April 10th Third Sunday of Easter
Jesus, Easter and Divine Mercy Sundays have passed, and now we are back to the daily ways
of life.
But Jesus, in You there isn't any ordinary ways of life.
We are called to be new creations, we are called to be on fire with love for You and
graced to help others.
Jesus, never let us feel ordinary, but let us feel as new vessals of love, joy and peace.
Lord, let us spread Your love to others, by how we live.
Lord, let us draw others to You by our examples of love, joy and peace.
Jesus, remind us that we are pilgrims on a journey through life that is leading us to Your
heavenly home.
Let us not be so concerned and worried, about the pressures of life, but, see Your love
and help in all situations.
Thank You Jesus.
Amen and Amen.
Thank You Lord, for loving us totally.

One Bread, One Body
This weeks readings and reflections
Sunday CATCH-Y?
http://presentationministries.com/obob/obob.asp?lang=en&d=4/10/2016
"The apostles for their part left the Sanhedrin full of joy that they had been judged
worthy of ill-treatment for the sake of the Name." -Acts 5:41
Peter went back into the fishing business and quit following Jesus (see Jn 21:3). He
probably did this because of his long-standing problems with Jesus' command to take up
the cross. When Jesus had first mentioned the cross to His disciples, Peter had
downplayed the whole thing. Then "Jesus turned on Peter and said, 'Get out of My sight,
you satan!' " (Mt 16:23) Peter had made plans to stay on the mountain of the
Transfiguration rather than go into the valley of suffering and death on the cross
(see Mt 17:4). When Jesus was about to die on the cross, Peter had denied Him three
times. Therefore, it's reasonable to surmise that Peter went back into the fishing
business to escape the cross.
The risen Jesus then intervened. He caught Peter's attention by telling the disciples
how to catch 153 fish at one time (Jn 21:11). Later, after repeatedly asking Peter if
he loved Him, Jesus "indicated the sort of death by which Peter was to glorify God"
(Jn 21:19). Jesus began to show Peter that he would not only carry a cross but die on
one. The Holy Spirit eventually guided Peter to the full truth (Jn 16:13) about his
own death on the cross. Finally, Peter imitated Jesus to the point that he too died on
a cross.
The risen Jesus is quietly running after you with a cross to give you. If you're
running from the cross, you're running from the risen Christ. Let Him catch you. Be the
fish Jesus catches.
Prayer: Father, may I come to the point that I will boast of nothing but the cross
(Gal 6:14).
Promise: "We testify to this. So too does the Holy Spirit, Whom God has given to those
that obey Him." -Acts 5:32
Praise: Glory and praise to You, risen Lord Jesus, for opening the way into heaven.
Praise be to You forever!

Pope Francis, Shepherd of Truth
http://presentationministries.com/pope/fst2016-03.asp?navlink=latest
Notable quotations from Pope Francis and official teachings of the Roman Catholic Church
GOD'S MERCY
MERCY TRANSFORMS
God's mercy transforms human hearts; it enables us, through the experience of a faithful
love, to become merciful in turn.
THE MIRACLE OF MERCY
In an ever new miracle, divine mercy shines forth in our lives, inspiring each of us to
love our neighbor and to devote ourselves to ... the spiritual and corporal works of
mercy.
WORKS OF MERCY
These works remind us that faith finds expression in concrete everyday actions meant to
help our neighbors in body and spirit: by feeding, visiting, comforting and instructing
them. On such things we will be judged. For this reason, I expressed my hope that "the
Christian people may reflect on the corporal and spiritual works of mercy; this will be
a way to reawaken our conscience, too often grown dull in the face of poverty, and to
enter more deeply into the heart of the Gospel where the poor have a special experience
of God's mercy" (Misericordiae Vultus).

MORE FAST FOOD?
"The number of disciples grew." -Acts 6:1
In our American society, we want more, and we want it fast. We even super-size our fast food. The Lord also wants more, and He wants it fast. However, He wants not more material things or more pleasures. Rather, He wants more conversions. He wants us to be able to say: "The word of God continued to spread, while at the same time the number of the disciples in Jerusalem enormously increased. There were many priests among those who embraced the faith" (Acts 6:7). Moreover, the Lord wants this great harvest of evangelization as fast as possible. When the apostles wanted to take Jesus into their boat, "suddenly it came aground on the shore they had been approaching" (Jn 6:21). We can get somewhere fast with Jesus, if we're talking evangelization.
The more we want more materially and selfishly, the less we want more people to come to Christ, for "the flesh lusts against the spirit" (Gal 5:17). Also, the quicker our lifestyles, the less time we have for the Lord. Thus, in our desire for more of the "world," we get less of God's kingdom, and our need for speed slows down the progress of God's work in our lives.
In this Easter season, may we let the Holy Spirit use God's Word to prove us wrong (see Jn 16:8) about our lifestyle of wanting more things and living in the "fast lane." Then we can live lifestyles of evangelization as witnesses for the risen Christ.
Prayer: Father, remove from me the baggage which slows me down in evangelization.
Promise: Jesus "told them, 'It is I; do not be afraid.' " -Jn 6:20
Praise: Nick, a young adult, gives up a night each week so he can spend that time worshiping Jesus in Eucharistic adoration.

TESTING OUT
"The apostles for their part left the Sanhedrin full of joy that they had been judged worthy of ill-treatment for the sake of the Name." -Acts 5:41
Jesus "tested" his apostles (see e.g. Jn 6:6). His tests were designed to prepare them for future tests. They didn't always pass these tests. The Jewish Sanhedrin also tested the apostles, very severely. The apostles passed the tests beautifully; they could not be defeated or suppressed. Scourging only caused the apostles to rejoice all the more, and persevere with even more joy. Jesus' death did not cause His ministry to die, as happened with Theudas and Judas the Galilean (see Acts 5:36-37). Rather, Jesus' death spurs us to rejoice and witness and proclaim Him all the more.
Jesus is "the Tester of our hearts" (1 Thes 2:4). He doesn't test us to punish us. Rather, He tests us as would any good teacher, to enable their students to expand and grow. A military drill sergeant tests his soldiers to strengthen and prepare them to withstand and overcome the attacks of the enemy. If the enemy's onslaught was the first time the soldiers had faced adversity, they may not be "battle-tested" enough to gain victory. The Holy Spirit can infuse us with the grace to overcome the most severe first-time tests. However, Jesus' plan is to test His disciples over their period of formation before releasing them to the world for the tests of discipleship, evangelization, and mission.
"No test has been sent you that does not come to all men. Besides, God keeps His promise. He will not let you be tested beyond your strength. Along with the test He will give you a way out of it so that you may be able to endure it" (1 Cor 10:13).
Prayer: Father, fill me with total trust in You that I may pass Your tests with rejoicing.
Promise: "Jesus then took the loaves of bread, gave thanks, and passed them around." -Jn 6:11
Praise: Widowhood tested Jane's faith, but now she looks to her Bridegroom in all things.

TESTING OUT
"The apostles for their part left the Sanhedrin full of joy that they had been judged worthy of ill-treatment for the sake of the Name." -Acts 5:41
