JESUS, THE BLIND, AND CHRISTMAS

"He also restored sight to many who were blind." -Luke 7:21

Jesus said His mission was to proclaim "recovery of sight to the blind" (Lk 4:18). He healed the blind man at Bethsaida (Mk 8:25), blind Bartimaeus (Mk 10:52), and the man born blind (Jn 9:7). After raising the daughter of Jairus from the dead, Jesus restored sight to two blind men (Mt 9:30). On some other occasions, Jesus healed several blind people at one time (e.g. Lk 7:21). When Jesus listed His healings and miracles, He put healing the blind first on the list (see Lk 7:22; Mt 11:5). Jesus seems to be especially interested in healing the blind.

This Advent, Jesus is continuing (see Heb 13:8) to heal the physically blind. What a wonderful Christmas it will be for those healed! However, although almost all of us don't need to be healed of physical blindness, nearly all of us do need to be healed of spiritual blindness. We have let ourselves be blinded by the false gods of the present age (2 Cor 4:4). We have even blinded ourselves (Is 29:9) by the darkness of sin (1 Jn 2:11). Therefore, when we receive the miracle of repentance, we receive the miracle-healing of spiritual blindness. Let's repent, confess, and let Jesus remove the blinding effects of sin from our eyes. Then we can have a true Christmas.

Prayer: Father, open my eyes to Your love, truth, and holiness. Open my eyes to the evil of sin and the hope of repentance.

Promise: "Turn to Me and be safe, all you ends of the earth, for I am God; there is no other!" -Is 45:22

Praise: St. John worked to enlighten his fellow monks to their need to reform. He endured brutality and intense persecution because he would not compromise the ideal that priests should be completely abandoned to Jesus.

WILL I HAVE CHRISTMAS?

I will "remove from your midst the proud braggarts." -Zephaniah 3:11

"I will leave as a remnant in your midst a people humble and lowly." -Zephaniah 3:12

To deprive yourself of Christmas:
* be rebellious (Zep 3:1),
* accept "no correction" (Zep 3:2),
* be a proud braggart (see Zep 3:11),
* "exalt yourself" (Zep 3:11),
* have "a deceitful tongue" (Zep 3:13), and
* refuse to repent.

To meet Christ in a new way this Christmas:
* trust in the Lord (Zep 3:2),
* draw near to God (Zep 3:2),
* "change and purify" your lips (Zep 3:9),
* "call upon the name of the Lord" (Zep 3:9),
* "serve Him with one accord" (Zep 3:9),
* bring Him offerings (Zep 3:10),
* be "humble and lowly" (Zep 3:12),
* "take refuge in the name of the Lord" (Zep 3:12),
* "do no wrong" (Zep 3:13),
* pasture and care for God's people (see Zep 3:13), and
* "repent and believe in Him" (see Mt 21:32).

"Prepare the way of the Lord" (Mt 3:3; Is 40:3).

Prayer: Father, prepare me for the best Christmas ever.

Promise: "When John came preaching a way of holiness, you put no faith in him." -Mt 21:32

Praise: St. Lucy refused to renounce Jesus, and was condemned to die in a house of prostitution. Jesus made her immovable, such that even a team of oxen was unable to drag her to the brothel.

Presentation Ministries - Special Appeal 2016

Presentation Ministries

(NOTE: Many of you already received this letter by mail. Thank you for your generous response.)

December, 2016

Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,

Praise Jesus, the Prince of Peace! Thank you for your steadfastness in serving Christ in the midst of the challenging circumstances around us. By reading and sharing God's word in One Bread One Body, you are helping to build Christ's Kingdom here on earth. In responding to our Special Appeal last fall and throughout the year, you have been a source of inspiration and encouragement to us as we strive to fulfill the far-reaching vision that the Holy Spirit gave to Father Al Lauer, our founder. Our resources touch lives and change hearts.

Your sacrificial donations, both large and small, make it possible for us to have our materials available in the USA, Canada, and globally via the Internet. The Gospel is being proclaimed through radio broadcasts, podcasts, the Bible telephone line, and the Guadalupe Bible College.

More and more people are discovering the new facilities at our Discipleship Center in rural Ohio, where many programs and retreats are given to equip the participants to grow deeper in their faith and identity as Disciples. These retreats and programs are conducted year round.

The annual Bible Institute was powerfully anointed by the Holy Spirit. The speakers, teachers, participants, and all who served were astonished at the way the Holy Spirit exceeded all expectations. Please pray that this ministry can continue its good work and that the donations received meet our expenses this year.

Our Outreach Ministry has traveled to several remote locations to teach seminars to equip the faithful to work in their environments. At these encounters all witness the power of The Holy Spirit. We encourage them in forming Home Based Communities in their own locations.

All of our leaders, teachers, office personnel, mailing crews, and those who maintain the buildings – whether they give a few hours or work full time – are VOLUNTEERS. No one is paid. We retain the policy of providing our materials and resources, even the retreats and the Bible Institute, for a free-will offering.

Every effort is made to control expenses and we have been fortunate to reduce expenses in a couple of ministries this year due to new technology. However, the cost of postage and shipping ever increases and our buildings need continued maintenance. We trust in the Lord to faithfully provide.

We appreciate your prayers for Presentation Ministries. Pray especially for 1) unity around the vision Fr. Al gave us, 2) uninterrupted leadership for each of the ministries and 3) for new committed workers. Any offering you can give now or in the future to support our ministries enables us to fulfill our mission in serving the Lord and His Church.

May the Lord bless you and all your loved ones in the coming holy seasons of Advent and Christmas.

THE MOST AMAZING WOMAN

"Elizabeth was filled with the Holy Spirit and cried out in a loud voice: 'Blest are you among women and blest is the Fruit of your womb. But who am I that the mother of my Lord should come to me?' " -Luke 1:41-43

One of the principal patrons of Our Lady of Presentation Ministries is Our Lady of Guadalupe. Our retreat center has a chapel named after Our Lady of Guadalupe. We are a network of over thirty small Christian communities. One of our communities is named after Our Lady of Guadalupe. Why did the Holy Spirit lead us to so emphasize Our Lady of Guadalupe?

Mary is the mother of God. Therefore, she has a very important part in God's plan of salvation. When Jesus hung on the cross, He gave His disciples Mary to be our mother (Jn 19:26-27). Jesus wants us to love His mother, who is our adoptive mother.

Jesus especially worked through His mother at a place that would later be called Guadalupe. There Mary showed herself to be the great evangelizer. In seven years, she led eight million people to commit their lives to her Son Jesus. Also, Our Lady made one of the greatest stands for life ever. She put an end to killing thousands of children as sacrificial offerings.

Today in our secular humanistic culture of death, we need the Lord to continue to work through Our Lady of Guadalupe to protect life and lead millions of people to new life in Christ. Our Lady of Guadalupe, pray for us.

Prayer: Father, "I am the servant of the Lord. Let it be done to me as You say" (Lk 1:38).

Promise: "Your deed of hope will never be forgotten by those who tell of the might of God." -Jdt 13:19

Praise: The image of Our Lady of Guadalupe contains many symbols, colors, and meanings that showed the Mexican Indians just how sovereign God was compared to their pagan gods. Many of them converted to the Catholic Church after merely looking at the image.

PM eNewsletter 3rd Sunday of Advent

December 11th, 3rd Sunday of Advent

This week, oh! Christ, Your church celebrates another great feast of Your mother and ours.

The feast of "Our Lady of Guadalupe", is important because it shows Mary's care for the down
trodden people.

She appeared to Juan Diego and gave him a message of love.

And so we thank You, Jesus, for Your mother and her loving care.

Jesus, continue to prepare us to give You the Christmas present You want us to give You.

And help us to know what that is.

Amen and Amen.

Thank You Lord, for loving us totally.

One Bread, One Body

This weeks readings and reflections

Sunday RECEIVE JESUS' JOY
http://presentationministries.com/obob/obob.asp?lang=en&d=12/11/2016

"He comes to save you." -Isaiah 35:4

Today, the Third Sunday of Advent, is called "Gaudete Sunday," meaning "Rejoice Sunday." There
is great reason to rejoice; we have a Savior! Moreover, this Savior is One Who loves us,
delights in us, and wants the very best for us. Yes, He is a Judge (Jas 5:9), but He did not
come to condemn us (Rm 8:1; Jn 8:11), but rather to save and redeem us (Is 35:9).

He has not only saved us; He has called us to be His disciples. Jesus offers us a share in His
saving ministry. In addition, He pours out the Holy Spirit on us and gives us powerful gifts
of the Spirit so that we might help spread His Word. In Jesus, we are greater than even John
the Baptizer (Mt 11:11).

This is great reason to rejoice. Jesus has saved us from sin, Satan, hell, and damnation, and
has saved us for heaven, holiness, ministry, discipleship, freedom, love, and so much more.
"Behold our God, to Whom we looked to save us! This is the Lord for Whom we looked; let us
rejoice and be glad that He has saved us!" (Is 25:9)

Are you rejoicing in getting your "holiday" shopping done? Or do you find your joy in the One
Who is coming at Christmas to save us? "Rejoice in the Lord" (Phil 4:4). Receive His abundant
Advent joy (Jn 15:11).

Prayer: Father, I know rejoicing in the Lord must be my strength (Neh 8:10). I set aside all
that distracts me from You. Help me to prepare Your way into the lives of many the rest of
Advent (Lk 3:4).

Promise: "You, too, must be patient. Steady your hearts, because the coming of the Lord is at
hand." -Jas 5:8

Praise: "Rejoice in the Lord always! I say it again, Rejoice!" (Phil 4:4) All glory, honor,
and praise be to our God!

Notable quotations from Pope Francis and official teachings of the Roman Catholic Church

WELCOME CHILDREN, MIGRANTS

"INSPIRES AND CHALLENGES"

"Whoever receives one such child in My name receives Me; and whoever receives Me, receives
not Me but Him who sent Me" (Mk 9:37; cf. Mt 18:5; Lk 9:48; Jn 13:20). With these words, the
Evangelists remind the Christian community of Jesus' teaching which both inspires and challenges.

"SURE PATH"

This phrase traces the sure path which leads to God: it begins with the smallest and, through
the grace of our Savior, it grows into the practice of welcoming others.

"NECESSARY CONDITION"

To be welcoming is a necessary condition for making this journey a concrete reality: God made
Himself one of us. In Jesus God became a child, and the openness of faith to God, which nourishes
hope, is expressed in loving proximity to the smallest and the weakest.

RECEIVE JESUS' JOY - One Bread, One Body, 12/11/2016

RECEIVE JESUS' JOY

"He comes to save you." -Isaiah 35:4

Today, the Third Sunday of Advent, is called "Gaudete Sunday," meaning "Rejoice Sunday." There is great reason to rejoice; we have a Savior! Moreover, this Savior is One Who loves us, delights in us, and wants the very best for us. Yes, He is a Judge (Jas 5:9), but He did not come to condemn us (Rm 8:1; Jn 8:11), but rather to save and redeem us (Is 35:9).

He has not only saved us; He has called us to be His disciples. Jesus offers us a share in His saving ministry. In addition, He pours out the Holy Spirit on us and gives us powerful gifts of the Spirit so that we might help spread His Word. In Jesus, we are greater than even John the Baptizer (Mt 11:11).

This is great reason to rejoice. Jesus has saved us from sin, Satan, hell, and damnation, and has saved us for heaven, holiness, ministry, discipleship, freedom, love, and so much more. "Behold our God, to Whom we looked to save us! This is the Lord for Whom we looked; let us rejoice and be glad that He has saved us!" (Is 25:9)

Are you rejoicing in getting your "holiday" shopping done? Or do you find your joy in the One Who is coming at Christmas to save us? "Rejoice in the Lord" (Phil 4:4). Receive His abundant Advent joy (Jn 15:11).

Prayer: Father, I know rejoicing in the Lord must be my strength (Neh 8:10). I set aside all that distracts me from You. Help me to prepare Your way into the lives of many the rest of Advent (Lk 3:4).

Promise: "You, too, must be patient. Steady your hearts, because the coming of the Lord is at hand." -Jas 5:8

Praise: "Rejoice in the Lord always! I say it again, Rejoice!" (Phil 4:4) All glory, honor, and praise be to our God!

THE PRELUDE TO GLORY

"How awesome are you, Elijah! Whose glory is equal to yours?" -Sirach 48:4

The ministry of Elijah preceded the coming of Jesus at His Incarnation, is preceding Christ's coming this Christmastime, and will precede His final coming at the end of the world. Elijah's ministry is to reestablish God's people (Sir 48:10) and to restore all things (Mt 17:11). Consequently, at this time before Christ's Christmas coming, the following three prophecies of Isaiah are being fulfilled by new Elijahs:
* "Build up, build up, prepare the way, remove the stumbling blocks from My people's path" (Is 57:14).
* "The ancient ruins shall be rebuilt for your sake, and the foundations from ages past you shall raise up; 'Repairer of the breach,' they shall call you, 'Restorer of ruined homesteads' " (Is 58:12).
* "They shall rebuild the ancient ruins, the former wastes they shall raise up and restore the ruined cities, desolate now for generations" (Is 61:4).

This is a time of hope and joy. New Elijahs are coming to do the miraculous. Then Jesus will come to do the divine. We are being overwhelmed with God's blessings (see Dt 28:2) and amazed by His grace. The Lord is doing more than we can ever ask for or imagine (Eph 3:20). "Eye has not seen, ear has not heard, nor has it so much as dawned on man what God has prepared for those who love Him" (1 Cor 2:9). "Despite the increase of sin, grace has far surpassed it" (Rm 5:20). "Rejoice in the Lord" (Phil 4:4). Elijah is coming.

Prayer: Father, may I "rejoice with inexpressible joy touched with glory" (1 Pt 1:8).

Promise: "Till like a fire there appeared the prophet whose words were as a flaming furnace." -Sir 48:1

Praise: When the Holy Spirit opened Georgia's eyes to the Truth of the Scriptures, she was reborn in Jesus.
