LET'S OBEY GOD IN DETAIL
"Jesus warned them sternly, 'See to it that no one knows of this.' But they went off and spread word of Him through the whole area." -Matthew 9:30-31
The blind men "evangelize" but in disobedience. Jesus told them not to let anyone know of their healing (Mt 9:30), at least for a time. It takes more humility to quietly obey than to share our blessings. It's natural to want to share our joy. Possibly the blind men were trying to re-establish themselves in society rather than letting Jesus' physical healing complete itself in Jesus' perfect timing with a complete societal restoration.
We are told to make Jesus known throughout the earth (Mt 28:19), but so often we hold our tongue. That's also disobedience. It may take more humility to open our mouths and share our love for Jesus than to keep silent.
Jesus knows best how to prepare for His coming. Let's choose the better portion, sit at Jesus' feet daily, and listen to Jesus' words (Lk 10:39, 42). Then, let's act on that word (Jas 1:22) this Advent and the rest of our lives. "Prepare the way of the Lord" (Mt 3:3) in detailed, quick, and complete obedience.
Prayer: Father, give me "ears open to obedience" (Ps 40:7).
Promise: "Because of your faith it shall be done to you." -Mt 9:29
Praise: St. Francis Xavier obeyed Jesus' command to take the gospel to the ends of the earth. He evangelized many of the Asian coastal nations.
