A CHRISTMAS PRESENTATION

"The couple brought Him up to Jerusalem so that He could be presented to the Lord." -Luke 2:22

Presentation Ministries publishes the book you're reading. We're named after Our Lady of Presentation, whose feast is celebrated November 21st. We also have a special place in our hearts for the Presentation of Jesus. When Jesus was presented in the temple, He was consecrated (Lk 2:23), His parents were purified (Lk 2:22), and Simeon, Anna, and His parents were enlightened (Lk 2:32).

As we begin this Christmas season, we may be called to reconsecrate our lives to the Lord. We don't want to be even the slightest bit lukewarm or we will nauseate Jesus (see Rv 3:16). We also may need to be purified. Have you defiled your Christmas by sin? The Lord promises: "Though your sins be like scarlet, they may become white as snow" (Is 1:18). Repent, confess, and be purified.

Furthermore, Jesus wants to be a "revealing Light" for us (Lk 2:32). In His light, we'll be able to see the future. Like Mary, we may even be able to see our future sufferings (Lk 2:35). Most of all, we'll see Jesus' love as never before. We "will be able to grasp fully, with all the holy ones, the breadth and length and height and depth of Christ's love, and experience this love" (Eph 3:18-19). On this glorious Christmas day, open your Christmas presentation.

Prayer: Father, may I let You surprise me today.

Promise: "The darkness is over and the real light begins to shine." -1 Jn 2:8

Praise: St. Thomas reformed his life after being appointed Archbishop of Canterbury and eventually accepted martyrdom rather than submit to the king's unjust demands.
