July 31st 18th Sunday in ordinary time.
This week, oh! Jesus, Your church celebrates a great saint and a great gift.
St. John Vianney was a priest who loved You so much, that You gave him gifts that made
him a great confessor.
He would hear confessions up to 16 hours a day.
And his knowledge of the sins of the people in his confessional was fantastic.
We also celebrate Your showing 3 of Your apostles Your true self in the transfiguration.
You become glowing in appearance and conversed with Moses and Elijah.
Thank You Jesus, for glowing with love.
Amen and Amen.
Thank You Lord, for loving us totally.

One Bread, One Body
This weeks readings and reflections
Sunday A BOMB
http://presentationministries.com/obob/obob.asp?lang=en&d=7/31/2016
"Relax! Eat heartily, drink well. Enjoy yourself." -Luke 12:19
The late Fr. Rick Thomas said that the verse quoted above, Luke 12:19, is the most obeyed
verse in the Bible. However, God's reaction to those who live out this verse is: "You fool!
This very night your life shall be required of you. To whom will all this piled-up wealth
of yours go?" (Lk 12:20) The Lord does not consider the "good life" of relaxation and
enjoyment to be that good. This comes as a shock to us who have been taught to base our
lives on, and save our money for, entertainment, relaxation, and enjoyment.
Today's Gospel reading is like a bomb which would destroy our whole lives if we let it
explode by believing it. Yet, if we don't lose our lives now, they won't be saved for
eternity (see Lk 9:24). "What profit does he show who gains the whole world and destroys
himself in the process?" (Lk 9:25) We can believe God's Word now and let it be like a hammer
shattering our lives (see Jer 23:29), or we can maintain the status quo, hoping today's
Gospel reading doesn't mean what it seems to mean.
As we look to the future, we naturally have feelings of insecurity. We know that death
awaits us, if Jesus doesn't return first. We know that suffering, sickness, and pain
probably lie ahead. These prospects will leave us insecure unless our lives are built on
the rock of obedience to God's Word (Mt 7:24). The best thing we can do is to obey God's
Word, no matter what the immediate consequences.
Prayer: Father, may my life be based on Your Word, which will last forever (see Lk 21:33).
Promise: "Since you have been raised up in company with Christ, set your heart on what
pertains to higher realms where Christ is seated at God's right hand." -Col 3:1-2
Praise: "Give thanks to the Lord for He is good, for His mercy endures forever" (Ps 118:1).
Alleluia!

I would like to ask all of you all over the world to pray for me: I have not dated anyone
since June of 1998. Please ask God to lead me to someone that I can date regularly. Please ask
God to work a miracle concerning this. For those in Germany who read this I have a German
penpal named Gabriele Spanuth that had an operation yesterday in Frankfurt. She is a school
teacher and she lives in Offenbach. She teaches in Hanau. Her folks are dead and she has one
brother so pray for her

To Ask For Spiritual Healing O Lord, I feel weakness in my beliefs.doubts flood my mind and

and guide me in my life. Through Christ our Lord, Amen

If sin leads us to Jesus then very good. If sin leads us away from Jesus then very bad. The
very best kind of sinner is the one who loves and trust Jesus, even in the tempest.

Pope Francis, Shepherd of Truth

Notable quotations from Pope Francis and official teachings of the Roman Catholic Church
THE VITAL ROLE OF FAMILIES
"THE POWER OF GRACE"
We must be grateful that most people do value family relationships that are permanent and
marked by mutual respect. They appreciate the Church's efforts to offer guidance and
counseling in areas related to growth in love, overcoming conflict and raising children. Many
are touched by the power of grace experienced in sacramental Reconciliation and in the
Eucharist, grace that helps them face the challenges of marriage and the family. (38)
"KEEP MOVING FORWARD"
I thank God that many families, which are far from considering themselves perfect, live in
love, fulfilling their calling and keep moving forward, even if they fall many times along
the way. (51)
"ENTHUSIASM AND COURAGE"
We need to find the right language, arguments and forms of witness that can help us reach the
hearts of young people, appealing to their capacity for generosity, commitment, love, and even
heroism, and in this way inviting them to take up the challenge of marriage with faith and
courage. (40)
