PM eNewsletter 21st Sunday in ordinary time

August 26th 21st Sunday in ordinary time.

This week, Jesus, Your church heralds another tremendous man of faith.

St. John the Baptist, who without fear, proclaimed what was truth till he was finally beheaded.

Jesus, give us that steadfastness of heart that we will first of all learn the truth as taught
by the catechism of the Catholic church, and then be willingly in love, as we proclaim it to
others.

Let us be heralds of Your love and let others see the Christ in us.

Let us stand for Your law of love, and let us be as fearless as St. John was in standing for
what was right.

Thank You Jesus.

Amen and Amen.

Thank You Lord, for loving us totally.

One Bread, One Body

This weeks readings and reflections

Sunday HIS EUCHARISTIC CHALLENGE
http://presentationministries.com/obob/obob.asp?lang=en&d=8/26/2018

"Jesus was fully aware that His disciples were murmuring in protest at what He had said. 'Does it
shake your faith?' He asked them." -John 6:61

Jesus challenges us to believe His mysterious statement: "The bread I will give is My flesh, for
the life of the world" (Jn 6:51). A typical reaction to this challenge is to ask the question:
"How can He give us His flesh to eat?" (Jn 6:52) Jesus does not directly answer this question.
Rather, He extends an even more puzzling challenge by repeatedly insisting that we eat His Flesh
and drink His Blood (Jn 6:53-58). If we do this, He will raise us from the dead (Jn 6:53-54), live
in us and we in Him (Jn 6:56), and give us life forever (Jn 6:58). If we do not eat His Body and
drink His Blood, we "have no life in" us (Jn 6:53).

Then "many of His disciples remarked, 'This sort of talk is hard to endure! How can anyone take it
seriously?' " (Jn 6:60) "From this time on, many of His disciples broke away and would not remain
in His company any longer" (Jn 6:66). Nevertheless, Jesus continues to insist that we believe in
and receive His Body and Blood.

Joshua challenged the people: "Decide today whom you will serve" (Jos 24:15). Jesus, the new Joshua
(Jeshua), also challenges us to decide today about living to receive His Body and Blood. Will we
receive Him in repentance, joy, and love? Will we receive Holy Communion as often as possible and
center our lives on the Eucharist? Jesus is challenging us. Our actions will speak louder than our
words. Will we accept Jesus' challenge?

Prayer: Father, grant me the grace to come to the eucharistic Jesus (see Jn 6:65).

Promise: "Defer to one another out of reverence for Christ." -Eph 5:21

Praise: Praise Jesus, the Gate, the Door, the only Way! Praise You, Jesus, our "Leader in the work
of salvation" (Heb 2:10).

Pray for inner peace. Not as the world gives it; but the inner peace that comes from Our Lord. The
peace that the Lord gives is not a spiritual vacuum; rather, it is a fulfillment of God's goodness
and love. Those who journey towards the Lord, find this inner peace.

Pope Francis, Shepherd of Truth
http://presentationministries.com/pope/fst2018-08.asp?navlink=latest

Notable quotations from Pope Francis and official teachings of the Roman Catholic Church

CHRISTIANS AND MISSION

NO GENERATION GAP

To grow in the grace of faith bestowed on us by the Church's sacraments plunges us into that great
stream of witnesses who, generation after generation, enable the wisdom and experience of older
persons to become testimony and encouragement for those looking to the future. And the freshness and
enthusiasm of the young makes them a source of support and hope for those nearing the end of their
journey. In this blend of different stages in life, the mission of the Church bridges the
generations; our faith in God and our love of neighbor are a source of profound unity.

JOY AND ENTHUSIASM

This transmission of the faith, the heart of the Church's mission, comes about by the infectiousness
of love, where joy and enthusiasm become the expression of a newfound meaning and fulfillment in
life. The spread of faith "by attraction" calls for hearts that are open and expanded by love... That
expansion generates encounter, witness, proclamation; it generates sharing in charity with all those
far from the faith, indifferent to it and perhaps even hostile and opposed to it.

"EVER YOUNG"

...The Christian faith remains ever young when it is open to the mission that Christ entrusts to us.
"Mission revitalizes faith" (Redemptoris Missio, 2) in the words of Saint John Paul II...
