August 4th Eighteenth Sunday in ordinary time
This week, oh! Jesus, Your church celebrates the Feast of the Transfiguration.
When You showed the apostles what You really looked like.
Help us, Jesus, to realize that we too will see You as the Triune God someday, when we appear before You
for judgement.
Lord, help us now, to live lives of loving service to others, so that we really won't have any fear of
death.
Lord, help us to see You in others, and have them see You in us.
Thank You for Your unending love.
Amen and Amen.
Thank You Lord, for loving us totally.

Sunday WHAT MATTERS ABOUT FINANCIAL MATTERS

"That is the way it works with the man who grows rich for himself instead of growing rich in the sight of
God." -Luke 12:21
The Lord wants His children to be rich, not for themselves, but rich in what matters to Him. "You are well
acquainted with the favor shown you by our Lord Jesus Christ: how for your sake He made Himself poor though
He was rich, so that you might become rich by His poverty" (2 Cor 8:9). When we were baptized into Christ,
we were baptized into His riches. Accordingly, the eyes of our hearts must be enlightened to realize "the
wealth of His glorious heritage to be distributed among the members of the church" (Eph 1:18).
To be rich in what matters to God, we must:
* "avoid greed in all its forms. A man may be wealthy, but his possessions do not guarantee him life"
(Lk 12:15),
* not ask "What shall I do?" (Lk 12:17) but "What would Jesus do?",
* not try to provide our own security but rely on our Abba (see Lk 12:18-19), and
* not live to "Relax! Eat heartily, drink well. Enjoy" ourselves (Lk 12:19), but take up our daily crosses
(Lk 9:23) and live for love of God.
If we are not rich in what matters to God, our lives are vain (Eccl 1:2) and foolish (Lk 12:20). If we are
rich in God, however, we are ready to die now (see Lk 12:20), for we have laid up treasure in heaven
(see Mt 6:19-28). "How deep are the riches and the wisdom and the knowledge of God!" (Rm 11:33) Let us live
in and proclaim "the unfathomable riches of Christ" (Eph 3:8).
Prayer: Father, send the Holy Spirit to show me the relationship between material riches and godly riches.
Promise: "When Christ our Life appears, then you shall appear with Him in glory." -Col 3:4
Praise: Praise You, Jesus, provider of our needs!

In Jesus Name Pray for Gary he gets his disability now. Pray he will be just fine and he wont have to
suffer anymore pain and worry about being re-instated. I love him and want him to be alright. He is a

Today is another day my fiancé doesn't have his disability re-instated. He needs his income. Pray he
will do something to fight harder and get his disability and keep his home. Pray he knows I stand
behind him. Pray he will snap out of his depression and show himself and me and my family and his
family, that he will be just fine. Amen

Bible Telephone Line
The Bible Telephone Line (BTL) has been in operation for 27 years. Begun by Fr. Al in 1991, it now
continues with one deacon of the Archdiocese of Indianapolis and two lay teachers trained by
Presentation Ministries. The BTL provides callers with a short teaching on the readings for the
daily Mass. It is available 24 hours a day and 7 days a week. Callers may also leave a short prayer
request which will be shared on the line with the other callers the next day on a separate line.

THE CHURCH AND THE POOR
For her part, the Catholic Church, in the exercise of the mission with which her divine Founder has
entrusted her, struggles daily throughout the world against hunger and malnutrition in multiple ways
and through her various structures and associations, remembering that those who suffer from misery are
not different from us. They share our flesh and blood. They deserve ... a friendly hand to help and

infrastructure, we ought to feel shame for not having achieved the same advances in humanity and
solidarity, and so satisfy the primary needs of the most disadvantaged.
