September 6th 23rd Sunday in ordinary time.
Almighty God, Your plan of salvation started with the birth of the "new ark of the covenent" Mary our
mother, that the church celebrates this week.
Jesus, Your son, needed a pure vessel in which to be born into, and so You chose Mary, and she accepted
and so became the mother of Jesus.
How blessed we are to have such a woman of love who constantly intercedes for us always.
Thank You, Father, for Your perfect plan which worked out in and through Jesus, who died on the cross
that we might have life everlasting.
Thank You for loving us always.
Amen and Amen.
Thank You Lord, for loving us totally.

This weeks readings and reflections
Sunday THE HIGHEST STANDARDS FOR UNITY

"If your brother should sin against you, go and point out his sin." -Matthew 18:15, our translation
Jesus prays that His Church would be one as He and His Father are one (Jn 17:21). Jesus has exceptionally
high standards for unity in His Church so that the world would believe that the Father sent Jesus
(Jn 17:21). This may come as a surprise to us, for our experience in our local churches may be that of
denominational and factional disunity. Yet Jesus never changes His standards. He insists on His Church
reflecting the unity of the Trinity.
To prevent disunity, dispel disunity, and build unity, the Holy Spirit works in the following ways. He
gives us:
. the Sacrament of Reconciliation,
. the responsibility and wisdom to correct our brothers and sisters in Christ (see Ez 33:8; Mt 18:15),
. the charity and discipline to keep our differences with another brother or sister private (see Mt 18:15),
. the deeper presence of Jesus and the power of prayer when Christians gather in unity in Jesus' name
(see Mt 18:19-20),
. submission to the authority of the leaders of our church (see Mt 18:17), and
. redemptive suffering (see Jn 11:51-52).
The Holy Spirit enables us never to have to settle for less than the best unity in the Church. However,
we must be docile to the Holy Spirit and follow His ways of reconciliation and unity exactly and
sacrificially. Come, Holy Spirit of unity! (see 1 Cor 12:13; Eph 4:3) Come and give us a new Pentecost
of unity!
Prayer: Father, free the Church to accept her participation in the unity of the Trinity, as soon as
possible.
Promise: "Owe no debt to anyone except the debt that binds us to love one another." -Rm 13:8
Praise: Have you ever been put in jail for "proclaiming the resurrection of the dead in the person of
Jesus"? (see Acts 4:1-3) Risen Jesus, give me the strength of Your apostles!

Prayer in Time of Sickness O Jesus, You suffered and died for us; You understand suffering; Teach me to
understand my suffering as You do; To bear it in union with You, To offer it with You to atone for my
sins, and to bring Your grace to souls in need. Calm my fears; increase my trust. May I gladly accept
Your holy will and become more like You in trial. If it be Your will, restore me to health so that I may
work for Your Honor and Glory and the salvation of all. Amen

Saint Michael the Archangel, defend us in battle. Be our protection against the wickedness and snares of
the devil. May God rebuke him, we humbly pray; and do Thou, O Prince of the Heavenly Host - by the Divine
Power of God - cast into hell, satan and all the evil spirits, who roam throughout our homes, neighborhood,
cities, states, countries and the world seeking the ruin of souls. Amen.

Bible Telephone Line
The Bible Telephone Line (BTL) has been in operation for 28 years. Begun by Fr. Al in 1991, it now
continues with Deacon Ken Meade from the Archdiocese of Cleveland and two lay teachers, Jon Smith of
Fortville, IN and Darlene Davis of Greenfield, IN.. The BTL provides callers with a short teaching on
the readings for the daily Mass. It is available 24 hours a day and 7 days a week. Callers may also
leave a short prayer request which will be shared on the line with the other callers the next day on
a separate line.
