This week, Jesus, Your church heralds another tremendous
man of faith.
St. John the Baptist, who without fear, proclaimed what
was truth till he was finally beheaded.
Jesus, give us that steadfastness of heart that we will
first of all learn the truth as taught by the catechism
of the Catholic church, and then be willingly in love,
as we proclaim it to others.
Let us be heralds of Your love and let others see the
Christ in us.
Let us stand for Your law of love, and let us be as
fearless as St. John was in standing for what was right.
Thank You Jesus. Amen and Amen
Thank you Lord, for loving us totally.

One Bread, One Body
This weeks readings and reflections
Sunday BLESSED SUBMISSION
http://presentationministries.com/obob/obob.asp?d=8/23/2009
"As the Church submits to Christ, so wives should submit
to their husbands in everything." —Ephesians 5:24
This Scripture passage is among the most misunderstood in
the Bible. Submission is a dirty word in our contemporary
culture. In the Bible, however, submission is highly
valued. It is Jesus' position on the cross. Submission is
the way of redemption and the power of God. It is not a
position of weakness, rather it is one of supernatural
strength. Submission is not passivity; it is an active,
loving obedience even in disagreement.
We must submit to the Lord, His word, and His Church
(Eph 5:21). We must be submissive to pastors, parents,
husbands, governments, and leaders (Eph 5:21). If
authorities contradict one another, we submit to the
higher authority. For example, if the government
contradicts the Bible, we obey the Bible and disobey
the government. Most of the time, however, authorities
will not contradict themselves, but will contradict us.
In this case, we submit to them, deny our selves, take
up the cross, and follow in Jesus' footsteps (Lk 9:23).
Monday FIGURATIVELY SPEAKING
http://presentationministries.com/obob/obob.asp?d=8/24/2009
"Jesus responded: 'Do you believe just because I told you
I saw you under the fig tree? You will see much greater
things than that.' " —John 1:50
Tuesday HUMILIATION
http://presentationministries.com/obob/obob.asp?d=8/25/2009
"Fresh from the humiliation we had suffered at Philippi —
about which you know — we drew courage from our God to
preach His good tidings to you in the face of great
opposition." —1 Thessalonians 2:2

Facing reality is essential to sanity, reconciliation, healing,
and growth. Pretending existing realities are nonexistent can
only be harmful.
When we apply this basic principle to counseling those who have
committed sexual sins and/or have had an abortion, there are
several realities which must be faced if those involved are
ever to be freed.
1. SEXUAL BOND — In sexual intercourse, there is a physical
bonding of the couple. The members of the one become the
members of the other. The two become ............

Pope Benedict XVI, Shepherd of Truth
http://presentationministries.com/BST/bst2009-08.asp?navlink=latest
Notable quotations from Pope Benedict XVI and official
teachings of the Roman Catholic Church
GRANDPARENTS: A TREASURE
"IMPORTANT ROLE"
In the past, grandparents had an important role in
the life and growth of the family. Even with their
advancing age they continued to be present with
their children, their grandchildren, and even their
great-grandchildren, giving a living witness of
caring, sacrifice and a daily gift of themselves
without reserve.
THE THREAT OF THE CULTURE OF DEATH
Unfortunately, it seems that the "culture of death"
is advancing on many fronts and is also threatening
the season of old-age. With growing insistence,
people are even proposing euthanasia as a solution
for resolving certain difficult situations.
"THE LIGHT OF THE TRUTH"
Old age, with its problems that are also linked to
the new family and social contexts because of modern
development, should be evaluated carefully and always
in the light of the truth about man, the family, and
the community. It is always necessary to react
strongly to what dehumanizes society.
