Jesus, this Sunday we celebrate Your manifestation among us to the whole world.
Please help us to truly realize that "God is with us" should really be taken personally and realize
that You are truly with us.
Loving and helping and bringing us slowly into Your everlasting kingdom.
Help us to live lives that give glory and honor to You.
Help us bring others into Your church through the loving care that we show to them by our life style.
Let them see You in us.
Amen and Amen.
Thank You Lord, for loving us totally.

Sunday WISDOM DOES NOT CONTRADICT ITSELF

"They were overjoyed at seeing the star, and on entering the house, found the Child with Mary His
mother." -Matthew 2:10-11
The wise men found the infant Jesus in a house some days after Jesus had been born in a stable.
Their coming may have occurred around the days of Jesus' Presentation in the Temple forty days
after His birth when Simeon prophesied that Jesus was both "a revealing Light to the Gentiles" and
"a Sign of contradiction" (Lk 2:32, 34, our transl). Possibly the wise men were wise because they
did not contradict Jesus, a Sign of contradiction.
Because they believed the star of Bethlehem was announcing the birth of the King of the Jews, the
wise men followed the star, prostrated themselves before Jesus, and "presented Him with gifts of
gold, frankincense, and myrrh" (Mt 2:11). The actions of the wise men did not contradict Jesus.
However, Herod, after having said he would offer Jesus homage (Mt 2:8), contradicted himself and
tried to murder Jesus (Mt 2:16).
We too contradict Jesus and ourselves when we say:
* we believe in God, but we don't tell others about Him,
* we receive the Body and Blood of Jesus in Holy Communion, but we don't center our lives on
receiving Communion,
* the Bible is the Word of God, but we don't read it daily, and
* prayer is communicating with God, but we don't set aside a daily prayer time.
There may be other contradictions in our lives. Yet the wise men and women are not contradictory;
they are prostrate in worship of Jesus.
Prayer: Father, make me consistent, faithful, and wise.
Promise: "Your light has come, the glory of the Lord shines upon you...Nations shall walk by your
light." -Is 60:1-3
Praise: Praise You, risen Jesus! You contradicted worldly wisdom by defeating death and sin.
Alleluia!

I believe prayer is a big part of living in Heaven. I can just see, how the Angels and Saints pray
for our daily needs, especially the need for our salvation. Our journey may be long or short, but
we have 'great' allies (friends) in Heaven.

Bible Telephone Line
The Bible Telephone Line (BTL) has been in operation for 27 years. Begun by Fr. Al in 1991, it now
continues with one deacon of the Archdiocese of Indianapolis and two lay teachers trained by
Presentation Ministries. The BTL provides callers with a short teaching on the readings for the
daily Mass. It is available 24 hours a day and 7 days a week. Callers may also leave a short prayer
request which will be shared on the line with the other callers the next day on a separate line.

END HUNGER
"HOPES OF MILLIONS"
The annual celebration of World Food Day emphasizes ... the needs, yearnings and hopes of millions
of persons who lack bread each day. Increasingly, there are more people who sadly make up part of
that great number of human beings who have nothing, or almost nothing to eat. It should be the
opposite and yet recent statistics are a painful proof of how international solidarity appears to
be cooling.
"EFFECTIVE HELP"
The poor expect from us an effective help that takes them out of their misery... In this
twenty-first century that has seen considerable advances in the field of technology, science,
communications and infrastructure, we ought to feel shame for not having achieved the same advances
in humanity and solidarity, and so satisfy the primary needs of the most disadvantaged.
"WE MUST DO BETTER"
We are all called to go further. We can and we must do better for the helpless. We must move to
concrete action, so that the scourge of hunger disappears completely.
