February 3rd, 4th Sunday in ordinary time
Jesus, winter has us in it's grip, and it seems to be a season that is harsh and somewhat dark.
But, in You, Jesus we never have to be cold, or dark, or harsh.
We can be bright in love for You, and warm in all of our actions, and gentle in our love for all
of our brothers and sisters.
Let us be stars of love that shine for others, and rocks of love that are able to support all
those in our lives in need of help.
Let us be joyful because of how loved we are by You, and on fire because of that love.
Let us live lives in peace and joy of heart, that inspite of all that happens to us, we will only
radiate You.
Christ, open our eyes to see others as You see them.
Amen and Amen.
Thank You Lord, for loving us totally.

Sunday SIMPLY LOVE

"There are in the end three things that last: faith, hope, and love, and the greatest of these is love."
-1 Corinthians 13:13
Life is simple. The meaning of life is love, for God is Love (1 Jn 4:16). All we have to do is to love
God with all our hearts (Dt 6:5), love ourselves (Mt 22:39), and love our neighbors (Mt 22:39).
God is easy to love sometimes (see Lk 4:22). But then He speaks the truth in love (see Eph 4:15), and
we desire to throw Him over a cliff (Lk 4:29-30). Moreover, we live in the midst of an epidemic of
self-hatred. Abortion, euthanasia, alcoholism, addictive behavior, the idolatry of TV addiction, and
major influences in our culture of death are obvious or subtle manifestations of self-hatred. Finally,
to love our neighbors means to love everyone, including our enemies (Mt 5:43-44).
How can we relate to God, Who is Love, when we are not in love or even loving? "We, for our part, love
because He first loved us" (1 Jn 4:19). Do a one-minute crucifix novena. Look at a crucifix for at
least one minute a day for nine days. Let the Spirit reveal in a new way Abba's love for you
(Gal 4:6; Rm 5:5).
Prayer: Abba, may I live in love and live in You (1 Jn 4:16).
Promise: "If I give everything I have to feed the poor and hand over my body to be burned, but have not
love, I gain nothing." -1 Cor 13:3
Praise: Praise You, risen Jesus, "the Way, and the Truth, and the Life" (Jn 14:6). We adore You forever!

Bible Telephone Line
The Bible Telephone Line (BTL) has been in operation for 27 years. Begun by Fr. Al in 1991, it now
continues with one deacon of the Archdiocese of Indianapolis and two lay teachers trained by
Presentation Ministries. The BTL provides callers with a short teaching on the readings for the
daily Mass. It is available 24 hours a day and 7 days a week. Callers may also leave a short prayer
request which will be shared on the line with the other callers the next day on a separate line.

DON'T BE INDIFFERENT
... These are some reflections I wish to share with those men and women who do not allow themselves
to succumb to indifference; who hear the cry of those who do not have the minimum needed to lead a
dignified life.
THE CHURCH AND THE POOR
For her part, the Catholic Church, in the exercise of the mission with which her divine Founder has
entrusted her, struggles daily throughout the world against hunger and malnutrition in multiple ways
and through her various structures and associations, remembering that those who suffer from misery
are not different from us. They share our flesh and blood. They deserve ... a friendly hand to help
and support them, in such a way that no one is left behind, so that in our world fraternal solidarity
may boast its own identity card and citizenship, beyond any flashy slogans void of substance.

The annual celebration of World Food Day emphasizes ... the needs, yearnings and hopes of millions
of persons who lack bread each day. Increasingly, there are more people who sadly make up part of
that great number of human beings who have nothing, or almost nothing to eat. It should be the
opposite and yet recent statistics are a painful proof of how international solidarity appears to be
cooling.
