Today, oh! Christ, we celebrate the birth of the Church
through Your gift of the Holy Spirit.
Let the tongues of fire that came upon the Apostles, and
disciples in the upper room, descend on us, so that we
too will stand up and proclaim Your love to all the children
of the Father.
Let the Holy Spirit renew us, and let the Spirit fill our hearts,
and set them on fire with Your love.
Send forth Your Spirit, oh! Heavenly Father, and we shall
be recreated.
You, oh! Spirit, who are God, will renew the face of the earth.
Let Your Church enter into a new program of loving all
peoples, and let us be tools of the Holy Spirit, so that we
can be on fire with love. Amen and Amen.
Thank you Lord, for loving us totally.

Sunday THE GIFT THAT KEEPS ON UNIFYING

"To each person the manifestation of the Spirit is given for
the common good." —1 Corinthians 12:7
I've seen the gifts of the Holy Spirit used in marvelous ways
to unify the Church — both the charismatic gifts such as
tongues, prophecy, and healing, as well as other spiritual gifts
such as faith, knowledge, administration, and teaching
(1 Cor 12:7-10). I've also seen people angrily leave the
Catholic Church and join assemblies which emphasize
certain charismatic spiritual gifts. Moreover, I have seen the
Spirit's gifts used by some in the Church in ways that were
self-serving and not contributing to the unity of the body, as
they forgot basic truths about the gifts of the Spirit, such as:
The Holy Spirit gives spiritual gifts for the common good
(1 Cor 12:7). As on the first Pentecost, His gifts always are
designed to unify rather than divide.
The gifts of the Spirit don't compete with each other, since
the Spirit doesn't contend with Himself. The gifts complement
one another, and are to be used in an orderly rather than
divisive way (1 Cor 14:26-33).
The gifts are not our own (cf 1 Cor 6:19). We cannot use
them when convenient, and stop using them if inconvenient.
They were given for us to bear fruit (see Mt 25:14ff).
Many receive the gifts of the Spirit, but stop using them out
of fear, discouragement, or neglect. We must constantly
"stir into flame" the gifts we were given (2 Tm 1:6).
Any gift used without love is just noise (1 Cor 13:1ff).
"Receive the Holy Spirit" (Jn 20:22). Live by the Spirit and
follow His lead in using the spiritual gifts you received (Gal 5:25).

bestowing diverse ministries in Church communion, enriches
it still further with particular gifts or promptings of grace, called

grace for the vitality of the apostolate and for the holiness of
the whole Body of Christ (The Lay Members of Christ's Faithful People,
24).

received by the humble and docile heart of the believer, brings
about the flourishing of Christian moral life and the witness of
holiness amid the great variety of vocations, gifts,
responsibilities, conditions and life situations. As Novatian
once pointed out — here expressing the authentic faith of the
Church — it is the Holy Spirit 'who confirmed the hearts and
minds of the disciples, who revealed the mysteries of the
Gospel, who shed upon them .............

a good man who brought her back into the church, but he
has many barriers to their relationship, pray he is granted
the strength, courage and hope to overcome these and
open his heart back up to her so he can truly give her

kindness, comfort, loyalty and faithfulness she has given
him and he begins to communicate with her again, please,

PM Intercessors, please pray for these twin brothers
John and Jeff, their mother is very concerned. They are
adults. They both are into drugs and into excessive
drinking, Jeff has lost his job and is staying with John,
but they argue alot and have become violent with each
other. Their mother has ask for prayer. I rebuke all bad
habits they have, we know all that is not from God. I ask
for mercy and guidance and that they be set free from
all those problems. Pray for thier mother Evelyn too, she
is suffering. I have known tthe twins for about 35 yrs. I
thank you father for the blessings and for your love

Wednesday's general audience, Pope Benedict also
expressed his grief over the tragedy in Myanmar, also know
as Burma, where upwards of 20,000 people are dead and

through the south eastern part of the country.
"I make my own the cry of pain and the cry for help of the
dear people of Myanmar, who have seen the sudden
destruction of so many lives by the shattering violence of
the cyclone Nargis, in addition to goods and means of

spiritually close to all those affected. I also want to repeat

Holy Father and His Holiness Karekin II, the leader of
the Armenian Apostolic Church, met privately at the
Vatican this morning and then went on to pray the
Midday Liturgy of the Hours with the Armenians delegation.
The Holy Spirit, the Pope encouraged in his remarks to
the group, can work miracles to bring about unity between
Christians if we are open to Him.
The group of 75 Armenian faithful and 18 bishops gathered
in the Clementine Hall with their patriarch to celebrate
Midday Prayer, while the Holy Father led the prayers.
After the Patriarch's greeting, the Pope spoke to those
assembled about the importance of striving for Christian unity.
Recalling that Sunday is the Solemnity of Pentecost,
Benedict XVI said that, on this day, "we will pray in a
particular way for the unity of the Church. (...) If our
