January 27th Third Sunday in ordinary time
Jesus, Your gift of Your presense in the Eucharist should fill us with gratitude and love.
Lord, help us to come and sit with You, and let us do everything we can do to draw others
to Eucharistic Adoration.
Help us to see that everytime we sit with You, You give us a sense of well being, and that
well being helps us walk the talk, and not just talk the talk.
Jesus, help us always be authentic in our lives, by being so in love with You, that You
truly become our center focus, and purpose.
Let us be all that You want us to be, and let us give to all, that all may see the Christ
in us.
Amen and Amen.
Thanks to You, Lord, for loving us totally.

Sunday GUESS WHAT HAPPENED AT CHURCH TODAY?

"...entering the synagogue on the sabbath as He was in the habit of doing..." -Luke 4:16
For nearly thirty years, Jesus had habitually entered the synagogue on the Sabbath to worship
God (Lk 4:16). Then, on one special Sabbath day, the time "of favor" came (Lk 4:19). On that
day, the Holy Spirit anointed and sent Jesus out, Scriptures were fulfilled, Jesus prophesied
in power, and was nearly killed (Lk 4:23ff).
Since Jesus is the same today as He was then (Heb 13:8), He is working in power today, His day,
the Lord's Day. Therefore, we should never be comfortable and complacent walking into Church;
rather, we should approach "the liturgy of the Lord" (Acts 13:2) with trembling, anticipation,
reverence, and awe. At any moment, in any Mass, the Spirit may explode and an international,
earthshaking ministry could be born (see Lk 4:18; Acts 13:2). Great healings (Acts 20:7-12) or
life-changing revelations (Lk 24:30-32) might occur. Miracles will occur, as bread and wine are
being transformed into the body and blood of Jesus, Who is God. The proclaimed Scriptures will
be fulfilled in the lives of many today as Jesus comes alive in their hearts and sets them
free (Lk 4:18).
Today is the Lord's Day, "the first of all days" (Catechism, 2174). "Today is holy to the Lord"
(Neh 8:9). Today the Holy Spirit anoints you (Lk 4:18). Expect today's Mass to be charged with
power as Jesus makes all things new (Rv 21:5) - today.
Prayer: Jesus, may I never be so "familiar" with You that I become like the people of Nazareth
and fail to see You as God.
Promise: "You, then, are the body of Christ. Every one of you is a member of it." -1 Cor 12:27
Praise: Praise You, risen Jesus, "the Resurrection and the Life" (Jn 11:25). All life, all
holiness comes from You. Alleluia!

Matthew began the New Testament by repeatedly proclaiming Jesus as God. He called Jesus
"Emmanuel," meaning "God is with us" (Mt 1:23). The wise men prostrated themselves before
Jesus and gave Him homage, which is properly given only to God (Mt 2:11). John the Baptizer
maintained he was preparing the way for Jesus, which was the way of the Lord (God) (Mt 3:3).
Finally, when Satan was tempting the Lord, Jesus claimed to be Lord and God by saying: "You
shall not put the Lord your God to the test" (Mt 4:7).
After this crescendo acclaiming Jesus' divinity, Jesus manifested His power with an awesome
display of healings and deliverances (Mt 4:23-24). He then took His disciples up the
mountain, as the Lord took Moses up the mountain, to give them the new covenant, as
capsulized in the Sermon on the Mount.
Jesus began this sermon with the Beatitudes - eight ways to be blessed. They seem absurd
(see 1 Cor 1:18) because they clash with our lifestyle and many of our ...............................

U R G E N T....CHILD ABUSE ....children alienation. Father I need some one to pray with me. For
some years my husband has been turning our lovely children against me their mother. Yet husband
love me, but just wants the kids on his side solely. And yes Therefore there is spouse abuse
from him towards me in front of the children. I just want a balance. I want it to stop as I am
now worried for their mental health. I don't want them to grow up doing it to their partners.
They have beautiful minds but this character shaping has to stop. Grant me my miracle to stop
Alienation Abuse in my household in the name of Jesus.

please pray for my husband who is in the VA hosp for pneumonia, blood clot in lungs and flu,
he is 70 yrs old. Daughters and sis conversion. My daughter has 2 babies 3 andd 5. Please pray
that I may be able with our Jesus and our Blessed mother to teach my grandchildren the faith as
much as I can. Sis looking for job, daughter is single mon and is interviewing for a higher
paying job. Thanks to God for sis healing. Thanks be to God for you and what you do. God bless

The Bible Telephone Line (BTL) has been in operation for 19 years. Begun by Fr. Al
in 1991, it now continues with three teachers trained by him and by Presentation
Ministries. In cities where local numbers have been established, the BTL provides
callers with a short teaching on the readings for the daily Mass. It is available 24
