PM eNewsletter Fourth Sunday in ordinary time

February 3rd Fourth Sunday in ordinary time

Merciful Christ, we were presented to You, the Father and the Holy Spirit when we were
brought to the church for baptism.

Lord,as we celebrate Your presentation in the temple, let it be a reminder for us of
what a great privledge we received by becoming a child of God.

Jesus, let us realize that we are children of a royal heritage, and heirs to the
privledge of eternal life.

Thank You for Your great gift, and let us be excited to belong to You.

Amen and Amen.

Thanks to You, Lord, for loving us totally.

One Bread, One Body

This weeks readings and reflections

Sunday WHAT'S YOUR INTEREST RATE?
http://presentationministries.com/obob/obob.asp?lang=en&d=2/3/2013

"[Love] does not seek its own interests." -1 Corinthians 13:5, RNAB

St. Paul observed that he had no one like Timothy, for Timothy was genuinely interested in
what concerned God's people (Phil 2:20). Other disciples were seeking their own interests
instead of Jesus' interests (Phil 2:21). Timothy was a man possessed of great love, because
love does not seek its own interests (1 Cor 13:5).

That is what happens in a vocation. People with consecrated religious and lay single
vocations spend their lives serving God and listening to Him. Such people strive to find
out God's interests, serve Him, and carry out His wishes and interests.

A married person shows their true love in a similar manner. A loving husband or wife is
occupied with pleasing his or her spouse (1 Cor 7:33-34). They discover their spouse's
interests and act for their welfare. Thus, the married person works toward finding God's
interests by building a civilization of love.

We are like banks in which God deposits His treasures. God expects to get a return - with
interest (Mt 25:27). This has a double meaning: God wants to get an increased yield from our
life. He also wants us to be interested in His interests and work to carry them out.

Will this Scripture passage be fulfilled in you today? (see Lk 4:21) Will you seek the
interests of God and His people?

Prayer: Father, You are interested in knowing me fully (see Jer 1:5; 1 Cor 13:12). May I
love You so deeply that I return the favor.

Promise: "Today this Scripture passage is fulfilled in your hearing." -Lk 4:21

Praise: Praise You, risen Jesus! Your ways are high above my ways (Is 55:9).

Brochures

" Over 90 Biblically based brochures. Many on topics you don't usually hear addressed."

This Week's Featured Brochure

The Beatitudes
http://presentationministries.com/brochures/Beatitudes.asp

"The Beatitudes depict the countenance of Jesus Christ and portray His charity." -Catechism of
the Catholic Church, (CCC) 1717

The Beatitudes "are the paradoxical promises that sustain hope in the midst of tribulation." -CCC, 1717

"The Beatitudes reveal the goal of human existence, the ultimate end of human acts." -CCC, 1719

Matthew began the New Testament by repeatedly proclaiming Jesus as God. He called Jesus
"Emmanuel," meaning "God is with us" (Mt 1:23). The wise men prostrated themselves before
Jesus and gave Him homage, which is properly given only to God (Mt 2:11). John the Baptizer
maintained he was preparing the way for Jesus, which was the way of the Lord (God) (Mt 3:3).
Finally, when Satan was tempting the Lord, Jesus claimed to be Lord and God by saying: "You
shall not put the Lord your God to the test" (Mt 4:7).

After this crescendo acclaiming Jesus' divinity, Jesus manifested His power with an awesome
display of healings and deliverances (Mt 4:23-24). He then took His disciples up the
mountain, as the Lord took Moses up the mountain, to give them the new covenant, as
capsulized in the Sermon on the Mount.

Jesus began this sermon with the Beatitudes - eight ways to be blessed. They seem absurd
(see 1 Cor 1:18) because they clash with our lifestyle and many of our .................

Pope Benedict XVI, Shepherd of Truth
http://presentationministries.com/BST/bst2013-01.asp?navlink=latest

Notable quotations from Pope Benedict XVI and official
teachings of the Roman Catholic Church

DEFEND LIFE, BUILD PEACE

NO HAPPINESS OR PEACE

The flight from responsibility, which degrades human persons, and even more so the killing
of a defenseless and innocent being, will never be able to produce happiness or peace.

PROTECT THE WEAKEST

... How could one claim to bring about peace, the integral development of peoples or even
the protection of the environment without defending the life of those who are the weakest,
beginning with the unborn.

"IRREPARABLE DAMAGE"

Every offense against life, especially at its beginning, inevitably causes irreparable
damage to development, peace and the environment.
