This week, oh! Christ, Your church celebrates the coming of the magi.
Jesus, give us all the faith of the magi to be willing to go anywhere to find You.
Give us their courage to face any obstacle to come to You.
Lord, give us their trust to know that we will find You if only we reach out to You.
Let us all make this year, a year of new beginnings of walking to You, and following in Your footsteps.
Help us to truly focus on You, and become all that You want us to be.
Let this be our best year of faith and hope and trust in You, and You alone.
Amen and Amen.
Thank You Lord, for loving us totally.

Sunday ONLY THE FOOLS ARE WISE

"We observed His star at its rising and have come to pay Him homage." -Matthew 2:2
The wise men looked like fools. They traveled for months or even longer in following a star. How
foolish to give "gold, frankincense, and myrrh" to a Baby! (Mt 2:11) How foolish and even
strange to give myrrh, an anointing balm for the dead, to anyone except to someone about to die!
The wise men looked foolish. This is the only way to be wise in a foolish world. Only fools for
Christ are wise (see 1 Cor 3:18; 4:10). Therefore, to be wise, we must not care about looking
wise, being popular, being accepted, making money, and being successful. To be wise, we must be
willing to suffer ridicule, rejection, persecution, and pain.
Christ crucified is the Wisdom of God (1 Cor 1:24). Consequently, no one wants to be wise except
those who love Jesus our Wisdom (1 Cor 1:30) so much they give Him everything, prostrate
themselves before Him in adoration, and suffer in the pattern of His death (Phil 3:10). Wisdom
is available for the asking (Jas 1:5). But who will love Him enough to ask for it?
Prayer: Father, I choose to take up my crosses each day (Lk 9:23) and become wise.
Promise: "See, darkness covers the earth, and thick clouds cover the peoples; but upon you the
Lord shines, and over you appears His glory. Nations shall walk by your light, and kings by your
shining radiance." -Is 60:2-3
Praise: Praise You, Jesus, Word-Made-Flesh, the Light to the nations. All glory, honor, and
power be Yours forever. Alleluia!

Please pray that my mother has clear vision about what my sister is doing. Soften my sister's

My mother Philomina is suffering from diabetic foot ulcer. It is worse and doctor is not
promoting the draining of pus as it will not heal. Sometimes amputation will be needed. Blood
sugar is also not coming under control.

Bible Telephone Line
The Bible Telephone Line (BTL) has been in operation for 26 years. Begun by Fr. Al in 1991, it now
continues with one deacon of the Archdiocese of Indianapolis and two lay teachers trained by
Presentation Ministries. The BTL provides callers with a short teaching on the readings for the
daily Mass. It is available 24 hours a day and 7 days a week. Callers may also leave a short prayer
request which will be shared on the line with the other callers the next day on a separate line.

SALVATION HISTORY
... We need to become aware that the phenomenon of migration is not unrelated to salvation
history, but rather a part of that history. One of God's commandments is connected to it:
"You shall not wrong a stranger or oppress him, for you were strangers in the land of Egypt"
(Ex 22:21); "Love the sojourner therefore; for you were sojourners in the land of Egypt"
(Deut 10:19).
SIGN OF THE TIMES
This phenomenon constitutes a sign of the times, a sign which speaks of the providential
work of God in history and in the human community, with a view to universal communion. While
appreciating the issues, and often the suffering and tragedy of migration, as too the
difficulties connected with the demands of offering a dignified welcome to these persons,
the Church nevertheless encourages us to recognize God's plan.
"PEOPLE ARE MORE IMPORTANT THAN THINGS"
The Church ... invites us to do this precisely amidst this phenomenon, with the certainty
that no one is a stranger in the Christian community, which embraces "every nation, tribe,
people and tongue" (Rev 7:9). Each person is precious; persons are more important than
things, and the worth of an institution is measured by the way it treats the life and
dignity of human beings, particularly when they are vulnerable, as in the case of child
migrants.
